Knowledgeable staff, nice ambiance with candles on wine bottles. Good for an evening of wine and cheese.

Ristorante francese in mezzo al quartiere hipster della città. E' uno dei ristoranti migliori in cui abbia mai mangiato. Il locale un po' kitsch è assolutamente suggestivo e fornisce un'atmosfera romantica e fuori dal tempo. I piatti erano divini. L'anatra eccezionale. Dovete assolutamente provarlo.

SERVICE : We booked a table and had a special occasion. Could not decide to go here or to the branch next door - Beach Blanket Babylon. This one seemed more elegant. We arrived 5 min before our reservation time, got seated promptly in front of 1 very big and very messed up table ( previous party of at least 12 people ), I am mentioning this is it was kept dirty for most of our meal and definitely not pleasant to look at.French waiter approached us for the drinks order, we asked for fizzy water and inquired about the cocktails, as I like Old fashioned and I wanted to know which bourbon or rye whiskey they used for it (it was not stated in the menu). The waiter could not understand me , so I pointed out. It was actually quite amusing. He promised to ask the bar as he did not know. Then I saw him and others running around the restaurant (literally) , main guess - understaffed. Then after 5 min he approached us again, asked if we are ready, I asked has he found out about the Old fashioned main ingredient, '' oops forgot '' and ran away. So we were 30 min in the meal with only water on the table. The Italian waitress came in to take our order (she introduced herself when we choice Italian wine from her birth region), she told us she will find out about the old fashioned , she asked a passing by manager and he said Woodford Reserve, which was fine with me.Then while she was taking the order I asked what does she think about my choice of escargot with pork belly. As I love escargot , but it seemed a rather bizarre combo with something so fatty as pork belly. I am not joking her answer was : '' It is disgusting I would never eat it , snails crawl on the ground'' , again rather amusing how frank it was at the same time , rather killing the mood.We chose one veggie and one salmon tartar with beets salad to start and chateaubriand as a main. Also , she was not sure about the wine list so I chose Valpolicella Ripaso which I like. Then she said she was from that region, smiled and walked away.FOOD : food was really nothing special, having our hopes up, we agreed that the veggie starter (forgot the name) was interesting and rather yummy, but the salmon tartar with beets - really nothing special , steak was cooked nicely , but again we chose the safe option , as oppose to others due to waitress' comments. The most horrific part was the dessert. To add I asked for a candle in dessert as we were celebrating , there was no candle whatsoever. But it didn't bother as much as the dessert itself.I am not joking - revolting. Literally - half peaches from the can , meringue bits , really rich thick whipped cream and some green cress on top. It seemed as it was in a plate and done in 20 sec or less. After just trying it I caught the waitress attention , she asked if I like it - I did say it was horrible and really unpleasant and missing the candle. She just left it there , saying sorry , that's how they make it.At this point I was too shocked to say anything. We just left it there. When the bill came (195 £) I asked to remove the service, as I wish to pay the tips in cash, then I was approach by a lady who question my choice ... Honestly, at that point I was so embarrassed and simply disgusted of the level of unprofessionalism this place showed.Sum up : mediocre food , awful service - inattentive, lack of knowledge , on the edge of rude. Place itself is rather dark and full of old handbags ,stuffed animals, large panther statues, kitch and really dark (all windows with dark curtains on). If you wish to celebrate something/somebody dear for a price tag of £100/person, definitely chose something else.

Tutto superlativo!! Super consigliato, qualità prezzo giusta... Peccato... Perché la settimana prossima chiuderà!

We live just across the road from this restaurant - literally - and we finally payed a visit. The service was excellent, informative and unpretentious. The interior decor lives up to it's reputation - lavish and quirky as hell. A really unique experience, although we were relieved not to be sitting under the giraffe head (taxidermy really isn't our thing). The food was fresh, clean and beautifully presented. The mushroom tarte tatin was amazing. A thoroughly enjoyable meal and a great dining experience - one to be repeated.

A quirky restaurant with a lot of things to see which gives the place a really nice athmosphere. Service was great and very attentive and friendly. We had 3 courses meal which were almost all slightly disapointing for the price. Overall food was alright but no "wow moment", the presentation wasn't what you can expect from the restaurant. The only exception was the venison main course, in both taste and presentation. A good selection of wines and drinks.

I have recently enjoyed my second visit to Les Trois Garcons in Shoreditch. On both occasions both the service and the food were great. The decor of the restaurant is wonderfully theatrical being richly colourful and packed with interesting things in unusual places! However, this is not a restaurant that sells itself on it's decor alone; on this visit I shared the Chateaubriand with my guest. It was cooked to perfection and the presentation was beautiful. The wine list is not extensive but has some very nice bottles at a fair price.I was pleased to note that the Ladies loo had been improved since my last visit as I had felt that these let the rest of the place down previously. The staff during both visits were friendly, knowledgable & efficient. This restaurant is also an easy 5 to 10 minute walk from Liverpool Street Station - so easy to get to....Perfect!

I haven't been for a few years and I have to say the standard is not as high as it used to be. Food (besides the dessert) is not as good as other high price restaurants in the area, the waiter (though polite) didn't know too much about the ingredients of the food, and the ladies toilet seat was cracked and glued back together. With those prices, you'd think they could afford a replacement. Our table also had a large candle holder which had a chunk broken off it. Again, you'd think they could afford to replace that.Still love the decor and the welcome is very nice.

Recently had a fantastic evening at Les Trois Garcon - and on my list to revisit. If you don't mind the trip into Shoreditch it's well worth it. Very warm friendly greeting on arrival, the setting is as you've heard and seen, eclectic and wierd at times, but definitely not overwhelming or untasteful. Staff were very attentive and ready to chat. Overall a great night with friends for over 30 years. Don't usually write reviews but felt that this was an establishment trying hard, youthful, relaxed and serving good quality french cuisine, and was worth praising. It's bold, and deserves praise.

Our waiter was too young, too inexperienced and though willing to help was out of his depth in such a good restaurant. The food was superb. I had the fish, others game. Wine reasonably priced for a quality place. To be fair the manager did all he could to dissipate our dissatisfaction - a bottle of bubbly on the house, free desserts, and sat with us to apologise.

Had dinner at Les Trois Garcons with mates in London. Greeted and welcomed on arrival, and they took my coat and seated us. All staff in suits and spoke in thick French accents. Very keen eye for detail and waiters following our every move and sensing our needs. Very professional and slick service. The food was really very good. At £65 for the Chateaubriand I thought it was a tad pricy, but the meal was excellent. A classy wine pairing and delicious dessert concluded the evening, and although it has a very eccentric mix of jewelry, taxidermy and other odd things all over the restaurant, I am sure I would visit here again as it was an experience you won't easily find elsewhere.

Came to Trois Garcons expecting to taste excellent quality French food. Heard lots about the style of the place. Over the top and eccentric, but something I really liked. I just wish the food had been as interesting, or even as good!Duck starter was good, although nothing special. Had suckling pig for main (I thought I'd try it despite other reviews on here). It was indeed dry, and definitely not to the standard I would have expected. Dessert was good, but all three courses together left a disappointing feeling. I've had countless meals much better than this in restaurants of the same price or even less. Not even the service made up for it. Nice enough, but not fantastic and left us waiting. The bottle of wine we ordered didn't arrive until we had finished our starters.I won't be visiting the place again or recommending to my friends. Not awful, but not particularly good either.

Disappointing to say the least. Given the choice again to spend £235 for a tasting menu with wine pairing for two people (a birthday dinner), I wish I had chosen any number of other restaurants. If this is the only review you read, believe it.I get the impression that this place is trying to be something it's not. It certainly isn't memorable for the food, choosing a table on arrival becomes a bun fight, it took an age to obtain service once seated. The place has a cold feel to it and the food is something I could russle up myself - in fact my mum would have done a better job on a majority of the dishes they served up. My advice, read through the pompous, over complimentary reviews. I was genuinely exited about taking my girlfriend there yet left feeling mugged. I wish I'd gone to my local Italian instead. If you're uncertain where to eat either go to a local Italian or you're welcome to come round to my mum's.

All three of us decided on the Suckling pig as a main. Dry, tasteless and a very disappointing loin of pork, not suckling pig. Starters were the bisque which was very good, the scallopps over cooked and dry, the Jerusalem artichokes OK. Deserts were on average disappointing. The first thing that strikes you about Trois Garcons is the wonderful décor, full of stuffed animals in tiaras. It’s eclectic, but also warm and welcoming, without appearing pretentious. I was part of a large party and we were treated excellently by their friendly and competent staff. The menu errs on the expensive side, but is of excellent quality. What’s on offer is pretty standard – foie gras, sea bream, Chateaubriand – so don’t expect any surprises, but it really is very good indeed and both the service and setting make this feel like a special occasion without ever appearing snooty (this isn’t the sort of restaurant I’m used to attending). Highly recommended.

A friend recommended Les Trois Garcons - said it was a bit quirky. We dined there last night, quirky was not the word - the decor was fabulous and a feast for the eyes. There are so many things to look at, it truly is an eclectic mix of objet d'art. Fortunately the food met all expectations too, the menu was interesting and all courses were presented beautifully and tasted delicious. The service was good, delightful staff - but our main course sat for a while waiting for the waiter / waitress to collect and bring to us. There was a large party on one table, possibly this was the reason. Other than that, we could not fault a thing. Would recommend and will definitely re-visit. Warning - do not go if you don't like stuffed animals!

This place is very unconventional, in particular with regards to the kitsch decor which you could stare at for good part of your meal! Weird decorative fake animals, handbags hanging from the ceiling and sparkling lights everywhere could scare you off at first, however I guess this is what makes the atmosphere different from other places and suitable for a romantic dinner as well. The food was very nice, with a good selection of dishes. Each one of us very liked its choice which is a good sign. The food prices are a bit expensive but in line with the quality, while we found the wine to be too expensive (bottles starting from £28 seems a bit too much, although you have a good selections around the £30 mark). Overall, it's a place worth trying at least once (we have been twice already).

If there was a half button, i think i would of scored it 3 1/2 stars. I think for the price for the food, the taste could certainly be better. We had a main meal (fish dish) which was nice but by no means - stand out. The dessert again, was okay. But again would probably expect it to be better and more from a French restaurant. What was really nice was the complimentary gaspachio (sorry my spelling is rubbish). But basically a shot of cold soup, which tasted amazing. The non alcoholic cocktail they suggested was the best I've ever tasted. (I'm pregnant at the moment you see). But it was strange that they don't have a cocktail menu. But i guess it doesn't matter if they make such amazing bespoke cocktails. The decor of the restaurant is quite unique and interesting and its a nice place to spend your evening, its just the food for the price could be a bit better.

We were the first diners arriving at 6.15pm having come from an early finishing matinee. We thought we would be alone for the evening. Wrong. This is clearly a popular place and when we left at about 7.45 the place as virtually full. Our welcome was extremely friendly and we were served by a charming Italian waitress from Verona. The place felt welcoming from the start. The décor is a kind of decadent 1920's Paris with very subdued lighting, large china figures of dogs ,monkeys ,cheetas - a large stuffed tiger,a long giraffe's neck protruding from the wall, wild life trophy heads , ,large chandeliers beaded ceiling hangings. There is a large sepia photo of the 3 garcons and I originally thought this was a photo of the owners ancestors ! You could spend an hour looking at everything. Our meal was very enjoyable - I had an asparagus starter - my wife had a gambas main and I had the John Dorey. Our desserts were tarte limon and a chocolate dish which we shared. . There was a plentiful selection of wines by the glass. We went on an open table offer which gave 25% off the food and I felt that this was the right price for what we had. We later discovered that the 3 garcons are interior designers which explains the quirky décor. A definite recommend

Looked forward to spending an evening here after recommandation from a friend. Kind and warm service, though more and more unattentive during the evening, due to a bigger party there. The food was not not bad but really boring. In my opinion we could have had the same for the half price in other more low key places. Had the foie gras, which lacked of sharpness and taste and cold toasted brioche. Waguya beef which was good, but again the meal lacked of balance, way too sweet, and looked as if it had ben thrown on the plate. Dessert was ok had coconut nougatine parfait and Bellini mess. Worst of it all was the really really bad pre baked low quality bread, reminds me of the worst low fare airline bread. Short winelist, had a beautiful iced pear cider for the foie gras. The decor is fun and over the top in a great way, but in no way covers up for the soulless food. "Fine dining" at its worst. Just not good enough when You compare price and expetience to whatelse London has to offer. Bummer

The service is highly professional yet warm and friendly at the same time. It is a little expensive but you can find deals on table booking sites generally. Proper 5 star experience and I would recommend it to anyone.

Enjoyed a delightful meal at Les Trois Garçons with my husband. The restaurant has a very unique style of decor - fantastic beasts adorning the walls, glittering chandeliers, and rich colors. It was rather fun to sit directly below a giant giraffe head and admire the purses hanging in the middle of the room. Service was excellent - attentive but not intrusive. We opted for the tasting menu with wine pairing. Enabled us to enjoy most of the dishes offered on the menu. The warm lobster salad and waygu beef were my favorites. The accompanying wines were a nice touch - rounded out each course nicely. Overall, a very nice evening out in the ever trendy and hip Shoreditch.

This place has been on my wish list for some years and I was looking forward to going to Shoreditch expecting something pushing boundaries. The service was excellent as were the wines and the knowledge of the sommelier. Food good but not daring and rather classic (yes I know it's French but it could have been a little more modern) with somewhat limited choices on the menu. The decor is interesting and quite well done in a 1970s meets the 1990s way. Nice atmosphere .

One of my colleagues booked this restaurant and we had a private room downstairs for 10 of us. Down there, there is a window where you can see the chefs prepare the meals. Because it is away from the main restaurant upstairs I can't comment on how noisy/quiet the place really is. It is a bit pokey and if you have a pushchair for a baby it can be a bit of a struggle to get it downstairs but the staff were very helpful. In fact I remember the good service more than I remember the food. The portions are not tiny but they aren't very filling either. We had a set menu and there wasn't that much choice. The cost wasn't exhorbitant, the location was fairly central but it didn't really blow me away so I cannot be more complimentary than saying I did not have a bad time.

This place projects itself to be more than what it actually is and that is why you must be warned. It is definitely not a bad restaurant, the atmosphere is quite nice, especially for a special night out. The décor is interesting, it is quite romantic with crystal chandeliers and dim lights, the waiters are super friendly, the service is good. However, the biggest turn-off is the food which is definitely average. You can have much better food in another restaurant if you are up for paying that much money. The best thing about this restaurant on the other hand, is their extensive wine menu. I had the best Rioja I had in London here but when I found out that they charged 7 times more than the bottle's retail price, I decided that it would be my first and last visit there. Worth a shot if you want to see what one of the poshest restaurants in East London offers but don't have high expectations.

I came here with my wife last week for part of our gourmet London trip. This was the first of 4 and we were running massively late. We had a reservation at 2130 but didn't land in Gatwick till after 1800. Anyway, we were on track before I realised we got on the wrong tube and ended up being 25 mins late. The staff told us we were fine and actually helped them by being late before seating us and getting us a much needed glass of wine. The food we had was sublime. My wife started with the lobster salad whereas I went for the asparagus. For the mains I went for the much recommended Wagyu beef, which was better than expected and my wife had the Tiger prawns. The service was brilliant, there was nothing pretentious and we were made to feel very comfortable. As we were leaving we told the staff that this London trip was the beginning of our honeymoon and we were brought back in to enjoy a glass of champagne on the house. Next time we're in town we'll definitely go back and I truly recommend to anybody to check it out. Just fantastic!

From the outside this restaurant looks like a traditional East End pub, the interior is about as far removed from that as you can get. The restaurant is very intimate, tables are well spaced and great ambience. The food was fantastic amuse bouche kicked it off, gazpacho with depth. I had the foie gras simple, no elaborate presentation but as it should be. I then had the sea bream which was perfectly cooked, fresh and well presented. The staff are extremely professinal and helpful. This time I decided to go for the full French experience and tried the snails with pork belly, it was delicious. For my main course I shared the chateaubriand with my husband as I had this the last time I visited and I would highly recommend it. When I visited it was for my husbands Birthday and the staff brought him out a selection of chocolates and nougat with "Happy Birthday" scrolled across the top of the plate in chocolate. I had not asked for this and thought it was a lovely gesture and ended our evening peerfectly. This restuarant is fairly pricey but I think it can be justified by the high standard of service and food, as well as the quirky and unusual setting.

Here both the waitress who served us and the manager as well are professional, on top of everything but still human. The food was a groupon deal. We paid half price for a testing menu'. It was a good deal but to be honest at the full price you can have better choice in London. I think that the menu needs to be more innovated to keep up with the decadent atmosphere.

We went for lunch here on a Living Social voucher. This restaurant is a little out of the way - we would never have found it if the offer hadn't appeared on Living Social. We wanted something special to celebrate our anniversary - and boy, did we get it! This place is amazing! It was a weekday lunch, so we were the only people in the restaurant. I've heard bad things about fine dining on special offers - that the food selection is too small or the service poor. None of this can be said about Les Trois Garcons. The food selection was absolutely outstanding - more selection on the Living Social offer than on the "normal" lunch set menu. As for service, the maitre d' was attentive, without being overbearing. He took the time to tell us the stories behind the unusual decor and talk us through any questions we had about the food or drinks. Waiting times were long enough to feel relaxed without wondering what was happening. We both had a glass of house champagne, which was better than Moet or Veuve Cliquot or any of the usual brands that I've bought from a supermarket or off licence, and well worth the price (£10 per glass). The maitre d' brought small servings of chilled soup and bread rolls on the house while we waited for our starters. It was absolutely delicious, as was the foie gras that we both had to start. My partner then chose the chicken, whilst I had the wagyu beef. The maitre d' recommended that I have it "quite rare", but I opted for medium rare instead. It was cooked perfectly, and the sauce and vegetables were perfect. My partner informed me that the chicken was just as well-cooked and tasty. Everything was beautifully presented. I asked the maitre d' for a wine recommendation for with the beef. He pointed out two choices. Based on the one which I selected, he definitely knows a thing or two about which wines complement which dishes on the menu. For dessert, I had the chocolate truffle. My partner asked for the maitre d's recommendation and decided to have the nougat. Both dishes were absolutely delicious, but the chocolate was just a little too much for lunch and I couldn't finish it.We will definitely be returning to this beautiful restaurant again in the future, and I have already recommended it to family members. Thank you for an absolutely perfect experience.

Followed by fillet of steak for two, sea breed and chicken accompanied by new potatoes and mushroom ragout. All accompanied by a bottle of Barrail Du Blanc. Desert of lemon tart. We booked a special 2:1 offer of the 4 course tasting menu & weren't disappointed, starting with delicious fois-gras pate and ending with a light frozen nougat desert via a fish & rich steak course, we were really glad that we splashed out on the matching wines & were very ably assisted by the wine waiter who really knew his stuff. I was looking through many, many 'Top 50 London Restaurant' reviews - through TimeOut and then cross-checked on Tripadvisor and this was by far the winner. I decided to book it for a special meal for my boyfriend and I and I'm really glad I did. The restaurant itself is so quirky and interesting but also very elegant. The waiter service was excellent and they were very friendly. The food is great value considering it's a pretty upmarket restaurant. We chose to go a la carté (more choice) and the whole meal only came to about £125 which included a bottle of sauvignon blanc, amuse bouches, starter, main and pudding. This price is totally reasonable when you have got dressed up to celebrate an occasion. I booked weeks in advance to secure a table. We would recommend the lamb for a main and the crab for a starter. We just celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary at les trois garcon. My best dining experience in as long as I can remember. The building itself is an old pub which looks like it's not been touched since it was changed into a restaurant and the entire place is chock full of the most bizarre collection of jewel draped taxidermy you could ever imagine. I didn't know what to think at first (though after a couple of cocktails I found the stuffed bulldog wearing a tiara and fairy wings highly amusing). Although the main menu didn't make mention of the tasting menu, having already seen it on the website that what's we requested. It took the pressure away from choosing from their incredible selection of meals. As each of the 6 courses was presented we were given a brief explanation of what we were about to eat. Here's where I must give special mention to our wonderful (french??) Waitress, Joanna. She has that perfect mix of professionalism and friendly banter that was the cherry on top of an excellent fine dining experience. The food was sublime and the pace of our meal was perfect as never to feel rushed or left hungry. Joanna was attentive and very cheeky without being intrusive and when she got wind of our anniversary presented us with chocolates and anniversary message at the end of our meal. We are not people who can afford the time or money for this sort of night out very often, and it was a rare treat to come to this part of London and this kind of restaurant, so I can honestly say if I ever get the chance I would most definitely come back and definitely recommend les trois garcon. Myself and my boyfriend saved up so that we could enjoy a lovely meal out together.Unfortunately the whole evening was ruined by a large party of 12 diners on a table next to us. This rude and obnoxious party shouted so loudly across the table at each other, we could hardly even manage to hear what the other person was saying, even though we were sat opposite each other. The food was nice, but I've have more flavoursome meals at better value. The waiters were sweet and apologetic of the loudness which ruined the atmosphere. The room is quirky with an eclectic display of the owners' collection. Service is warm and efficient. The menu is almost classic French with the occasional genuflection towards the now de rigeur Asian spicing. Mostly it was dull. Snails lacked the meaty earthy taste they should carry. Steak was accurately cooked but lacked flavour and the accompanying veg was like taking a trip back to a 1970's Bernie Inn (half a flavour free grilled tomato anyone?). Two courses and a couple of glasses of wine came in at around £60/head. There's much better value and food to be had in London, unless you can't bear to eat without a stuffed giraffe looming over you.

We were there in April for a business dinner during a congress. First impressions was; crumbs. The ceiling is laden (and that is quite an understatement) with....well stuff. The menagerie of handbags (not quite sure how to describe a group of suspended handbags) was at first interesting but as one looked around, it became evident that they are just a bit of kitsch too much. The rest of the decor is fun and a good talking point but Les Trois might benefit from toning down a tad. The first focus for any restaurant is what is in front of you and not that which is suspended above you. The staff are very French...well at least ours was. To be honest, our waiter was actually Belgian but hey, it is close enough. As we were all from The Netherlands he spoke a few words of Dutch and quickly moved back to English but the effort was noted amongst my colleagues and invited guests. I continued in French which was absolutely fine for the waiter who seemed to enjoy it. I cannot really fault the service; I didn't have to ask to have water refilled and bread was replenished promptly upon request. I am assuming that it is customary to ask guests in a large party to order all 3 courses at the beginning of the evening. It as not a major issue but many of my party would have preferred to decide on dessert later on. The deserts were a little slow in coming but for a Saturday night, one has to expect a little delay I suppose. As were were on a bit of a timescale (an angry bus driver and not much place to park outside the restaurant) the staff did hurry up to accommodate. As the menu has appeared to have changed slightly since we dined there (positive point of course), I can only recommend the Chateaubriand which was superb; cooked rare as requested. I would recommend the restaurant as much for the decor as for the food. It is a memorable experience and I though that the price quality ratio was quite good for a fashionable London restaurant.

The evening started well and the kind waitress gave us a lot of attention. The starters were good and we enjoyed our cocktails. This unfortunately changed during the course of the evening. Our waitress had to look after an increasing number of customers, and to her frustration (and ours) the task became too difficult. They are clearly understaffed and not organized properly, something that at the level they claim to be... is just not right. We never even ordered dessert because we were made to wait 30 mins and then we just had to go home. Again, this is not down to poor manners of the waitress or anything else - rather, it's down to poor organization and overall staffing levels. They needed more people, basically. Other than this, the ambience is ok, the food is good but not really that great. I enjoyed most of the evening (except for the wait and the lack of service towards the end) but to be honest there are now better places in Shoreditch than this one. Not sure I would go back.PS if you book through toptable or opentable and there is an offer, make sure you mention it to them as...they forgot to apply the offer to our bill.
