Local pub but we hadn’t been there since it changed ownership. Gorgeous pub food with real chips and a lovely atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back for Sunday lunch with the family.

We came to celebrate mother’s 90th birthday. There were 11 of us ranging from 1 year to the birthday girl. Everybody was pleasant surprised by the quality of the food and the change in the pub itself since our last visit more than 6 years ago. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The food was all of good quality and arrived nice and hot, the gravy with the steak and ale pie was to die for.

Wow what a great stay at The Butchers Arms. It was a last minute booking, I stayed the one night. I experienced my first time sleeping in the new Welsh Pods which were recently decorated and renovated. Very comfortable and cosy. Very clean. A very stylish pub, I felt as if I walked into a chalet in the Swiss alps! Highly recommend the steak and chips!! Excellent breakfast and the chef made me a takeaway lunch to eat up Pen y fan summit. Great location and only 20 mins away from Pont ar Daf car park. Andrew the landlord was very accommodating. I also had the best weather hiking to the summit. Wow! What an amazing pub with amazing staff. The manager and all her staff were not just super efficient they were amongst the most friendly people we have ever met. All that worked there on the afternoon of Saturday 25 February should be really proud of themselves. The food was great and it was lovely how the chef made a special foil doggy bag of the sausages we couldn't eat (because there was so much).

Sunday lunch was impeccable! Meat was top grade, lots of vegetables, gravy and sauces. Dessert was delicious-bread and butter pudding, with a butternut sauce - wow!! Great price too - two courses x2 and two drinks £42. Served by a Delightful young man, Harris! 😁 many thanks see you soon 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Visited the Butchers this Sunday. Our 1st visit for Sunday lunch. I mudt say its one of the best dinners we've had anywhere in the UK. The gravy was stunning, very tasty. Starters were very nice. Proper Prawn Cocktail with tasty sauce and brown bread & butter. (Lots of restraunts these days use cheap mayo and cheap prawns, no bread) There were 11 of us and not one complaint. Highly recommend this place. Bonus was very friendly and attentive staff.

Went with my grandparents I ordered the beef dinner and it was probably the best dinner I’ve had. The workers were nice and helped us when needed Karen was our server and took our orders. She was the best. I totally recommend this pub 👍🏻

Came for lunch today, we booked online but the only confusing thing is that it isn’t clear online when you ‘confirm’ booking, itll just tell you to edit or cancel booking but it’ll show in your emails a bit later on. Because of the bad signal we ended up booking twice out of confusion hahaha! It was quiet in there but none the less the greeting we had (we think he might be the owner, we spoke about keys) was so kind and welcome. Fire was going, music was on, poured us a drink straight away. What a friendly and nice man, I really appreciated being in his company. It’s hard to impress me when it comes to a lasagne but this one just topped my incredible mood off even more. See attached the house salad!!! Never seen anyone present one like that, it was amazing. What was even better is that you had the chef delivering the meals, we absolutely loved this, we always look forward to going to pubs and they treat you like you’ve been there all your life. Massive recommendation here, it was quiet but the village is quiet, we loved the cosy chill vibes of it all. Thank you to all the staff there, you added to a lovely birthday for me today!

Visited today for our first Sunday Lunch and have to say we left truly satisfied. Andrew (Owner) and Steve Chef are truly amazing and can’t do enough for you. They make every visit enjoyable (yes we have eaten here a few times since Andrew took over and moving to area) but today was a first but definitely not a last Sunday Dinner. Keep doing what you do.

The food was amazing and plenty of it even the children portion the staff and the owner Andrew can't help enough will definitely be visiting again if you want a home made Sunday lunch reasonably priced 3 course for £27 here is the place

I have to start by saying the food was out of this world,. everything was perfect, the owner is a lovely welcoming guy, and definitely makes you feel like you would want to return. However, i booked the table and requested a certain table as I had friends from Germany, and wanted them to experience the rustic home fire, and cosy feel to this beautiful place, on arrival I was told I could not have this table as someone else had booked after me, and there where more people so they had that space. the girl who took my booking, and then said I could not have it was rude and arrogant, and actually said " WELL MY BOSS TOOK THE BOOKING SO ITS NOT MY FAULT" there was another 2 girls working there who where lovely, so its such a shame that one spoiled it. when I made the booking I explained I would be there by 7 but not eating till about 8, and was that ok. I overheard one of the staff saying, she could not find our booking, to which she answered, they are not even booked in till 8. I was made to feel very uncomfortable, and to be honest, I am sad to say I will not be returning to this place, Which I find sad, as We went there quite frequently, before it was taken over, and about 4 times since it reopened.

Sunday dinner was excellent good food good choice with a warm welcome great atmosphere good choice of beers and largers

We visited on the 30/09 for a family meal. There were 12 of us, we all had a fantastic time. The staff were very welcoming and the food was delicious. We will definitely be returning and recommending to family and friends.

We visited the pub having been recommended to us by staff where we were staying a short walk away. We were so glad they did. We went during half time of the rugby so hubby could finish watching the game and they were giving out free chicken curry and chips!! It was really delicious and I also had the cheesecake which I recommend. There was a great atmosphere and the interior has been tastefully decorated, clean and lovely toilets! The staff were all friendly and attentive ; there were a number of younger members of staff but they were all great and couldn't do enough for you. The locals were brilliant as well. Loved the fact that my spirits were served in a 'proper' glass. Highly recommend.

Hidden goldmine. This place has a gem of a menu that has delivered excellence. Morgan as front of house shines, a friendly greeting on this miserable day, 29/08/23. The wife & I ordered the 10 oz ribeye. For the 1st time in 18 months, our steaks were PERFECT!! The fries, onion rings and sauces Anne (chef) - thank you. This was such a great meal. Found by accident, hoping it isn't the last time we come here.

Lovely spot with amazing views from the terrace, food was very good, service was great and it’s obviously been updated recently, very nicely done. Only possible downside was that our eleven year old thought there wasn’t enough garlic bread. Overall excellent!

Popped in with my husband for lunch, I’ve not been to the Butchers Arms since I was a child, it holds lots of memories of family gatherings. It’s more modern today but still retaining that sense of welcome. My husband ordered the lasagne and I had the curry, both were absolutely delicious. Portion size is perfect, and a great range of drinks both alcoholic and soft, Prices are so good for what you get, food didn’t take long to arrive at the table and was piping hot. I plan to visit again for food, compliments to the chef.

Food was a solid pub fare offering and a narrow but good choice of ales, but the stand out was Gail who makes the atmosphere; stellar!!

My wife and I were in the area and decided to have lunch. We looked at the menu on the pubs web and decided it looked ok. My wife had Caesars salad and I had the buttermilk chicken burger. Both were delicious and there was plenty, so much so we had no room for desserts. The staff were very pleasant too, a good place to go and we will visit again

The worst meal I’ve had in a long time if not ever. We arrived at 7:30 and were seated and our orders taken. Starters took around an hour to come and as they were coming out I was told they didn’t have mine available. Mains then took around another 20 minutes and only 3 of the 5 meals came out. The remaining 2 meals came out once the 3 had finished. The sides followed the remaining 2 meals at which point everyone had had enough and wanted to leave. 4 of the 5 meals were fillet steaks and only 2 of those came with mushrooms as advertised. My partners fillet was so thin it could have been a burger. The starters also didn’t come as advertised. The chicken wings were supposed to come with coleslaw and crispy onions but instead came on a bed of rocket and the halloumi fries were supposed to come with sweet chilli sauce but didn’t. The waitress and bar staff were amazing and couldn’t be more apologetic and were completely rushed off their feet but the kitchen just let it down immensely. We asked to speak to the manager and were told she was on holiday! I would never come to or recommend this place to anyone which is such a shame because it had such potential. The restaurant itself was lovely and modern, the menu had some very good choices plus the staff were brilliant but the food was a massive letdown and ruined what was supposed to be a birthday meal.

My husband and I visited this pub recently. I booked online but as it was a lovely evening we decided to early to enjoy a drink in the beer garden. We went to the bar and I explained we had a booking but came early to enjoy the nice weather. Unfortunately our booking hadn’t been received due to a glitch in the online booking system but it wasn’t a problem. The young lad running the bar gave us our drinks and we went out in the beer garden. Nice atmosphere, full of locals and great views. We then went back inside and went to our table. I commented that there was a lack of staff compared to my last visit with the young lad running the bar, clearing tables, fixing the computer system as it had gone down and taking food orders. A real one man band. We made a comment to him about no staff and he was very polite and didn’t “dump” his problems on us, instead he was complimented us on our patience etc. our starters arrived all very good. Our mains arrived and were equally good. Other customers didn’t seem to have the same experience as us due food items not available etc. The chef was the breakfast chef and not the regular restaurant chef and full of apologies to the disappointed customers. We were too full for dessert so went to pay the bill and it was suggested we get takeaway desserts which we had did. This pub is a great place with friendly helpful staff who work hard so whatever problems they are going through at the moment I hope they resolved soon as would be a shame if bad reviews started coming in and ruin their reputation.

The food - Proper pub food, exactly what you would expect from a high quality village pub. I would say it was locally sourced but I never asked. The Accommodation - If you are looking for a 5 star, luxurious get away with your partner - this ain't it. If you are looking for a place to stay for a few nights hiking, biking or similar and want for a very comfy bed (bigger than single, smaller than a double) with fresh, clean bedding with power sockets near every bed in a warm shared room at a low price you cant beat it.The staff - very welcoming, make you feel at home! Have been here quite a few times for a drink and always very pleasant . Decided to try the food so had the home made curry . Bearing in mind on the menu was a choice of hot curries I stuck to the homemade chicken curry . It arrived and looked amazing with home made chips . Then came the taste test ..... the curry was sooooo hot it spoilt the meal ... and I had one piece of chicken in it . My partner had the same . I could not enjoy the meal and had to leave the chips as it was so hot . It felt like a vegetable madras !!! My partner was sweating and his nose dripping . I dread to think what the hot curry was like . I did ask . The lady said that was mild . The chicken ..... non existent Such a shame as I like the place but come on ... a mild chicken curry with one small piece of chicken boiling hot almost blowing your head off is not enjoyable . Left the chips ... Couldn’t wait to get out of there to be honest Chicken curry surely should have chicken ?????? It was a vegetable madras !!

A great birthday Sunday lunch, instead of meat and vegetable dinners they are offering a wider menu through the summer. All our resolve to eat healthily went out the door when we saw the homemade chips- simply to die for and we all succumbed. As always we had a warm, friendly welcome from all the staff and thoroughly enjoyed our meals and drinks. Thoroughly recommend to all ages if you want a friendly restaurant with good food ( and their own brewed beers ) in a welcoming country pub .

We arrived at 8pm on a quiet Friday night, they said they were about to close the kitchen (the sign outside said food served 6pm to 9pm) however they immediately gave us menus and we had a good meal in a friendly pub with a good selection of real ales and ciders.

Been here a few times since it's been taken over by Huw and Elaine and what a difference they have made!! The pub now has a lovely, friendly and relaxed atmosphere with a great selection of beers. The restaurant staff are fantastic, nothing is too much trouble for them, Elaine and Deb have worked really hard to make this a success and it's definitely paying off. Well done girls !! The Sunday dinners are lovely with loads of veg and as much gravy as you want. If you want somewhere to go with good food and good beer, then this is the place to visit.

Four of us arrived here after a long , hard day on our mountain bikes . Huw kindly locked the bikes away while we tucked into a great pie and chips . He then offered to organise a repair for one broken bike . We had a cracking night in the bar . Stayed in the bunkhouse which is bright , spotless and well appointed . I would not hesitate to recommend The Butchers Arms . Brill place . All the best and thankyou to Huw , Elaine , family and staff

Another great experience at the Butchers!!! First time to have Sunday lunch at the Butchers since Huw and Elaine took over and definitely wasn’t disappointed. All of our lunches were good portions and extra gravy provided too without having to ask for it. Spent a lovely few hours post lunch in the bar which as always was welcoming ( and warm) by the lovely fire . Thoroughly recommend for all ages, excellent hosts, great food and a lovely atmosphere

Have been going to this pub for some time and it has recently changed hands.The new landlord and landlady are great, they are very welcoming and cheerful and as a result the pub has an excellent atmosphere.There is a roaring log fire to sit around and plenty of selection of beers. Some of which are brewed by the owners themselves.I’m no real ale expert but I have noted that the pub has found its way into the CAMRA good beer guide so that must be a good thing.The food is excellent too, much of it home cooked. I have been back with the family for Sunday lunch quite a few times and without exception it has need first class.With 2 fussy kids and a vegetarian wife, pleasing everybody is sometimes difficult, but no problem here.. empty plates each time.The owner Huw is a keen sports fan so this would be a great place to watch the rugby or other sporting events that are shown.Cannot recommend highly enough.We will be going back very soon.!!!

Glad to see the Butchers open for meals again and we weren’t disappointed with the quality and service. New owners and staff working really hard to make people feel welcome and it was great to see lots of people of all different ages enjoying their drinks and meals. Pub used by locals as well as visitors which over the many years we have used this establishment has not usually been an issue (and added to the ambiance). A suggestion might be to limit children to the restaurant part of the pub after 9.30/10pm particularly if escaping on an adult night out from our own families. Definitely recommend the new Butchers for all ages, will be going back soon and looking forward to trying Sunday lunch too!!

Had been told this was the place to eat in the village. Just after 8pm on both Thursday and Friday evening they had stopped serving food and cleaned up. Good job the Red Cow was open (.. and was still serving food well past 9pm!)

A group of us stayed here on a mountain bike trip, the food in the evening was good and the breakfast set us up for the day, great real ale and a log fire. We plan to return.

I booked to go here for my Mothers birthday meal out for four of us. It is located in a beautiful setting with such friendly staff who made us all feel very welcome. The food was delicious and the service was great. I'd highly recommend The Butchers Arms to anyone!
