Stopped here on our way from the ferry to London and what a great find! Food v nice, staff so lovely, v cute pub. Highly recommend

Stopped off for lunch. Back being run by the owners. We had an excellent meal of chicken curry (half’n’half) with naan bread Too full for desserts but they sounded wholesome. Log fire. Lovely atmosphere Sally & Hywel

A quaint Welsh pub that has good food, a warm and cozy atmosphere, and staff and locals who welcome you with open arms. This is definitely a place I would go back to.

Had a lovely meal tonight. Lamb was beautifully cooked and presented. The other 3 at the table were happy with their meals. Pleasant service. According to my husband a lovely pint of guiness.

Enjoyed a marvellous meal, reasonably priced and served by very friendly waitresses in wonderful surroundings by the new tenants. The gluten free menu option was very much appreciated. Well worth making an effort to visit this venue, -we will again when we're in the area.

Dropped in for a hot drink. A lovely, warm( fire lit 🔥), cosy pub. Staff were friendly and helpful as we needed to book a meal but were tight on the time, as we were booking a round our visit to Illuminate in December. Very accomodating. Menu looked fab. Looking forward to returning

Regularly visit this pub, absolutely fantastic food, great atmosphere very friendly. Lots of variety on the menu, including home reared produce. Highly recommended.

I have just had a TAKEAWAY AFTERNOON TEA. I ordered it for 5 people but 7 turned up & there was plenty of food for all. There was a great selection of sandwiches, cakes & "nibbles" & everything was fantastic. Thank you very much Tomos & your staff for preparing all of it. I can certainly recommend it. Popped in for lunch, Wednesday early afternoon. Service was impeccable and the food was even better. Whitebait and breaded Brie to start, followed by fillet steak and a beef burger. Food was quick, as hot as the fires of Mount Doom and unbelievably tasty. Really glad we went out of our way to stop here.

We had a lovely family meal out today at The Butchers. First class service, delicious food, the staff couldn't do enough for us. Keep up the amazing work. We will be back!

Amazing Restaurant . I have a diet of gluten free and at this beautiful place had the most delicious food served to me . Staff very very helpful and spotlessly clean . Also so much selection highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely well worth the drive down and will be be returning very soon . Thank you so so much . Linda from Swansea .

Having eaten at the pub on numerous occasions previously, I was really disappointed with the food I had. The chicken chasseur wasn’t a chicken chasseur. Or at least nothing like any chasseur I’ve ever eaten or cooked. My husband had cod and that was lovely but mine was really disappointing. Service was friendly but slow. Such a shame as I’ve always loved this pub. The lady who took our payment offered to take money off as we’d said we were disappointed and that was a gracious thing to do but I really don’t think we’d visit again.

Went here after a trip to the Botanical Gardens. The service was amazing, welcomed as we walked in, sat us down, fed and watered us and cared about everything they did. Thank you.

I was throughly disappointed will not be returning first I had salmon and hollidaise sauce the salmon was tiny complained sent it back for curry and chips which was worst it was a microwave curry and a cheap one at that sorry but no I don't recommend this place at all

Nice place in a great surrounding area. I had some chicken strips from there, they were a bit oily. Otherwise service was quick, waiter was friendly and it's a great place to pop in for some lovely food. It's quite a small place so I'd recommend booking as they get busy really quick!!!

Lovely village pub, friendly place. Quiet location, nice it was away from the main road. Bit pricey compared to what we're used to paying though. Didn't rate the food sorry as we only called in for a drink 🙃

A real hidden gem of a pub! Very close to the botanical gardens so an easy stopping point for any visitors travelers or families. Very well priced food and delicious as well. Wide selection on the menu and a cozy pub inside. A must visit if you are local or planning a route through the area.

Unfortunately this lovely old pub has fallen foul to modern times, it's not a pub anymore serving good quality well priced eating but a pack as many people in and feed them somewhat overpriced average food establishment, with very young inexperienced waiting staff and a bar area that you can't use, unfortunately a paradox of our age.

Such a cosy pub. Fitted us in at short notice. Good menu choices. Waitress and bar staff really friendly. Will definitely go back.

Popped in on a rainy Sunday and was welcomed with a refreshing pint and an open fire

Very disappointed today. Went for my sons birthday as used to go to the butchers all the time before Covid. Today we were really not impressed. No steak only fish or ham , sausage egg and chips. Curry was had but tasted exactly like the mayflower curry from a pack really wasn’t homemade. The menu was really very very basic. I realise times have changed but the portions for what you were also paying for were small. It was more like a meal I’d expect in a cafe. It was also very cold there no atmosphere

Staff were very efficient and welcoming however, recent visit was very disappointing…. limited menu and prices a little expensive. Plenty of chips should you wish with your meal and standard fare…. pub grub at a satisfactory level. Ddim yn dderbyniol am y prisiau!!

Went for evening meal after a long day of exploring. Service with a smile was given. We had soup which was really nice. My main was quite good too but the wife had the curry and it was a bit meh. Can't win them all. Prices are good though and overall experience is nice.

Great little gem close to National Botanic Garden. Food looked great and fresh. Despite not eating the conversation of other patrons was very complimentary. Excellent table service, even for non eaters. Very good decor too.

Visited recently for anniversary the pub is pretty and cosy the service very good , the food not so good most expensive fish and chips which were not a patch on my local chippy , my husband steak was ok but for £30 lots of fat on it and not what you expect for the price

Visited last night to have dinner and had a great meal! The pub was quiet and traditional but not intimidating. There were plenty of drinks on offer as well as a good selection of beers. The dinner menu had a good selection of options without being overly long. I opted for the sirloin steak and it was delicious especially with the garlic mushroom sauce. The usual children's dishes were on offer so if you have little ones you should be able to find something they will like. Desert consisted of ice cream for the little one, sticky toffee pudding for me and cheesecake for my other guests. It was all delicious and we all had clean plates. So if you are in the area looking for a great little quiet pub to grab a delicious, afforadable dinner then I highly recommend trying here.

A lovely country Restaurant/pub . The staff are both welcoming and helpful . The food is really nice and well presented and the portions were more than I could manage to eat . I'd recommend a visit and will definitely be going back again

Wasn't aware that Sundays were Sunday roasts meals only. Nothing anywhere to tell you this. We didn't book and were given an hour spot at one of the tables. We had seen an online menu and liked a lot of the options that aren't available for Sunday lunchtime. What was available was rather bland made in bulk and very expensive. Had we known the menu options before we had ordered drinks we would not have stayed and gone across the road to the White Hart which has a better menu and a lot better value.

One of my favourite eating places Great food and lovely Double Dragon. A gem!

This lovely small village pub is well worth a detour for a visit. Really good food (although the portion sizes were too much for even the men!) and very welcoming staff. The garlic prawns sharing platter was very tasty and easily shared by three people. All the mains were equally good and thoroughly enjoyed by all, however, we didn’t get to taste any of the desserts as we were all so full...maybe next time! We’re looking forward to returning soon.

Another lovely evening meal. I chose the fillet steak on this visit, and will on my next. A very large, plump cut, cooked perfectly at medium, falling apart at the sight of the knife. Will return very soon for another chilled evening meal with my partner.

What a fantastic place!! The service was lovely and the food is proper home made. I had the beef and ale pie with chips n peas. Absolutely delicious, the garlic bread with cheese is epic as well, throughly recommend for a stop on a long journey!! Although tbh, I'd come here every week if I could!!

Quite a long wait for starter. Main meals were fair but the chicken was dry and sauce was too thick.mStaff were friendly. A bit disappointed.

Stopped for lunch on our way to the Pembrokeshire coast. Fabulous village pub just two minutes from the A38. Wonderful welcome by the hardworking landlady. The landlord was super friendly and offered sample of his beers which were first class. The food was extremely good. All three of us enjoyed everything we had. Only criticism, too much food!! Would unreservedly recommend

Never been here before but booked as was a halfway meeting point while on holiday to meet up with family. Very friendly owner and a lovely waitress working on the night we came. Three of us had the duck which was excellent good portions but left enough room for pudding .All food freshly prepared and at good value shame we are not near to you as would come back more often if local

The food in this place is absolutely disgusting, the food when it did arrive was freezing cold and we waited an hour for our food and trying to get table service for a pint was non existence. The price for the cold food was nearly £50 just for cold gammon, eggs; chips and peas and cold fish and chips and a coffee tea and a pint. Wouldn't ever recommend this place.

Highly recommend. 8 of us ate here after a local recommendation. We wanted home cooked good food and that is what we all got! Something for everyone (adults and teens). The duck, gammon, chicken strips, homemade pie, scampi were all delicious. Tasty, great portions, cooked to perfection. The best bit of all... homemade chips. The waitress was highly attentive and thebkwners friendly and welcoming from the start. Can't wait to visit again.

First visit - had heard good things and did not disappoint. Delicious two course Sunday roast with prompt and friendly service. Ideal with two kids aged 1 and 3. Best roast beef I’ve tasted. The whole family enjoyed and we’ll certainly be going back.

We visited the Butchers Arms yesterday and was greeted by very friendly staff. Our meal was absolutely delicious and our waitress Angharad was very attentive and chatty. We will definitely be returning.

Visited for a Sunday lunch with a group of 10. It was the nicest Sunday lunch I’ve ever tried in a pub or restaurant and the sticky toffee pudding was lovely too. Staff are very friendly and accommodating and service was quick, especially for 10 people! Would definitely visit again if ever I’m in the area again

This is such a beautiful, well led and atmospheric establishment. I wish I had taken pictures of my meal but we were enjoying everything so much that I didn't. Everything about this place is amazing. The food, staff and setting. We all had starters and mains and out of the 7 of us 5 squeezed in desserts although we were full. Nothing but praise and compliments to all the staff. Every single person we encountered was so friendly and welcoming and the food was cooked to perfection it was so delicious. If you can visit this place you will not be disappointed. If we are ever back in the area we will definitely return.

We had Sunday lunch at The Butchers today 15th August . The food was of an exceptionally high standard . The staff were both professional and polite and the service was excellent. Highly recommended

Lovely friendly place and the food is really nice

I was passing though the area with my wife and young son and we needed some lunch. We rang ahead (by 5 minutes) and the owner was so welcoming. Once we arrived we had a lovely meal in a nice quiet corner of the pub and as we left the owner came out to thank us for coming which was a lovely touch. Whether you're from the area or passing through I'd recommend the pub to anyone. Such a happy feel.

We decided to give it another try today in the hope that the old land lady had retired but upon arrival we were bluntly informed that they were not opening for another half an hour despite Google listing their opening times as 12. On walking back to the car we noticed another pub across the road and decided to give it a try. This turned out to be the correct decision. The Butchers is run by a very freindly land lady that greeted us and showed us to our table. Her staff promptly took our order and drinks arrived in minutes. When taking our food order the waitress was accompanied by another employee on her first day learning the ropes. The service we received from these two young ladies was exemplary and a credit to the land lady.We will certainly be visiting again and will recommend it to all of our friends.
