Neuadd Fawr Arms in Carmarthenshire

Looks like the Neuadd Arms is closed for the forseeable future as although you can book a reservation on the website, when you call the pub the answerphone tells you that the pub is closed. Just saying. Quite normal for Wales to have total lack of communication as it would have been good to know before setting off and arriving at a locked door.

Delicious Sunday lunch, with excellent service, in cosy surroundings. We had a lovely time and will definitely be coming back.

Friendly staff, good atmosphere, lovely food. As at Nov 2022 not open Monday to Wednesday.

Went here with some mates while on a hiking trip nearby. Its a really friendly pub, service was great, nice warm log-burners on the go and food was tasty.

Went for an evening meal, pub very run down needs a refurb. Asked at bar if could have a table, got someone from Kitchen who then had to go and ask someone else. Eventually seated. Ordered the steak and home made chips, wife had salmon. Chips were from local supermarket french fries not home made as sated on menu. Steak was super thin, server asked me to check steak was not undercooked, asked for medium, was so thin was more like well done, Couldn't be bothered to argue as had waited long enough. Other tables left waiting to order. Asked for dessert but told bread and butter pudding unavailable, wife had cheesecake - no cream supplied yet other table ordered same they had cream. Other tables in restaurant frustrated at service (4 in total). Food was passable at best. If could rate 0 would have done. We were in area for several days and refused to return to this establishment, travelled 11 miles to find somewhere decent. Had to go to bar to pay bill as staff non existent. Fire door between restaurant and kitchen kept jamming open and was left open most of the time - how was it a fire door with plain glass in same??? Would highly recommend to avoid.

Called in on the off chance of having a Roastie today and Bingo ! we had the last table :D Myself, Wifey and our two dogs had a lovely welcome, the food and desserts were superb, really can't fault it in any way. One thing that really grabs me when we go to the Neuadd Arms is the welcome and the friendliness of everyone, it's a proper, traditional pub with bags of charm. We love it and already look forward to next time :)

Fantastic Sunday lunch with friends in cosy traditional pub. The landlord was very friendly and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Great value, good bear and nice outside seating.

This pub/restaurant has character. One always feels that you're part of the family. The atmosphere is unique and personal, apart from the that the food is of a high standard and not too heavy on the wallet. Highly recommend. PS the beer is great.

Such a warm welcome at this lovely cosy pub. A nice evening so we wanted a drink outside before eating. Very friendly landlord showed us the table where we would be sitting and said come back in when we were ready. As soon as we came back and sat down our order was taken. Lovely beer garden with views of the hills. Interesting menu - good food and service. Thoroughly recommend.

Very friendly family owned pub, went twice on the weekend for food and it did not disappoint. The Sunday roast was lovely, huge portions. John and co made a great effort to ensure everyone was happy. Would recommend a visit if you're nearby.

Friendly welcome, tasteful peaceful surroundings. The food was piping hot, large portions, loads of veg with the roast. Tasty cheesecake and apple pie.

Staying at Myddfai, we had sunday lunch here. The service was excellent and welcoming, the roast was very good as was the beer.

We came here twice during our stay, once for a fabulous Sunday lunch and once for dinner. The food and service were great both times. It's really lovely to find such a good pub/restaurant that is welcoming to dogs, & we will definitely return when we are next in the area. My husband had the veggie Sunday lunch and was impressed. They also serve the best fried halloumi sticks that we have ever tasted!

Such a lovely welcome & first class service. Gorgeous beer, one of the best steaks of my life, generous servings of Penderyn Welsh whisky to follow. A warm convivial atmosphere in a beautiful little village. Absolutely loved it & couldn't recommend highly enough.

We visited here as a group of 10 following a rather heavy party in the village the night before! Not only did management accommodate such a large group of us, but the service was spot on, friendly, fast and extremely efficient. The food was great, everybody enjoyed their food. Will definitely visit again!

There was a reduced menu available when we ate there but that wasn't an issue. The available food was delicious and hot, and the service was lovely, despite it being a hot, and so busy, Sunday afternoon. Definitely worth trying out if you're in the area.

Cant comment really we wanted food but they couldn't accommodate us as we hadnt booked so we left...I gave the 2 stars for the location and friendly staff couldn't possibly comment on anything else

We had the best meal here tonight. Ettie the waitress was great throughout the evening and everyone we spoke to friendly and accommodating. The starters were great and we all had the pulled lamb which was out of this world! Thank you thank you we will be back when down this way again or if we do move here! :-)

After entering the pub with no booking or notion of the food being served, we were pleasantly surprised with an overly friendly and warm welcome. We we're quickly served a very good pint of guiness while a charming barmaid promptly asked the chef if they could squeeze us in. We were sat in the quaint but cosy front bar/restauraunt. Within 15 minutes we had plates of roasted meat and gravy in front of us and all the trimmings. I assume we we're very lucky in our timings as the hustle and bustle of Sunday lunch service was a foot, but the demeanour in which the staff held themselves was quite commendable and we had a very enjoyable meal. You should be very proud of your establishment, especially inspite of the current climate.

Great value, simple pub grub. Decent sized portions. Good drinks at reasonable prices. Amazing beer garden. We will definitely return for more drinks and when we need a hearty hot meal after a long days walking. Word of caution, they play music in the garden. We loved it but I know my mother would hate it. However, the beer garden is long and so you can sit far away from it if you choose. So don’t walk in and turn around because of it.

Great little pubs cider is addictive nice beer garden and outside eating area under a marquee covered area.

A well maintained structure close to the castle which is good for leisure. The outside looks old keeping its traditional and historical stature.

Very friendly, good beer and food

Had a very happy evening here for a Saturday night meal. Really enjoyed the nice outdoor area under the tent area, feels open and outdoor but protected from the sun (hope they keep it). Staff were great, friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. They were really helpful and accommodating for the gluten free diner in the party which is really appreciated, who also enjoyed their meal.

Tried to book Sunday Lunch twice online but received no reply whatsoever! Terrible customer service.

Food and service were excellent

Our party of 4 had the Sunday roast. Some liked the chicken and others really liked the very tender beef. Lovely veg as well and lovely deserts, namely the wonderful bakewell tart and custard. Friendly staff and weathe was good enough to sit outside under their marquee. Really recommended.

Difficult times but lovely local pub doing their best. Great Sunday roast, and returned mid week. All tables were under cover outside, friendly host and we all enjoyed what we had to eat.

Booked a cottage near by and called in for Sunday lunch on our arrival and rebooked for Thursday / Friday and Saturday evenings-- food fantastic in fact a little too much to eat. Barmaid and waitress Chloe made us feel very welcome.

Ate here with my wife and kids last week. Lovely pub, lovely people, very average food. Scampi was a cheap brand, straight out of a freezer bag and oven cooked but priced like it had just left the market. All the ingredients were very basic and no skill applied to the cooking. The ale was flat. However, nice little pub in a nice area. Is what it is. I would go back for a pint but not food.

Excellent Sunday lunch and service and staff very courteous! We are from outside the area and Pre booked for Sunday lunch. Yes under current restrictions we were outside in the back area and it was showery but the coverings over all the tables kept everyone dry. Beautiful setting and would highly recommend for a Sunday lunch! Will definitely call again when passing through

The chef really knows how to cook here. We’ve been many times and have never been less than delighted. It is consistently excellent. The proprietors and staff are also charming, as is the physical environment. Certainly the best pub we’ve been to within 40 miles of Llandovery and would strongly recommend.

I visited the Neuadd Fawr Arms for Sunday Dinner last weekend; the beef was juicy and succulent, and the vegetables were nicely cooked and seasoned. I asked for mint sauce, expecting it to be store-bought, but it seemed to be homemade and fresh when it arrived. The total experience was a delight; I don't think I have ever had a Sunday dinner quite the same; I found nothing I could fault.The guest ales were also very decent my favourite being Butty Bach. John and his team were very hospitable. On my next visit to Llandovery, I will be back again. Kind regards,Joe

Took my mum out for a lovely roast dinner when visiting. Excellent little local pub with good food, lovely atmosphere, and good service. Then we went up to Llyn Brianne Dam to walk it off :)

We came as a family for Sunday lunch.. we have been a few time before but not on a Sunday.. as per our usual visits.. everything was perfect! Landlord fabulous, food fabulous, pub fabulous.. what more can we say except we will be back soon ❤️

We visited here during our stay in cambrian escapes up the road. It was a welcome escape from the rain and snow! The atmosphere is really friendly and cosy with wood fire and a well presented dining room area. The landlord was very welcoming and the menus varied. We had sausage and mash and a chicken curry and both were delicious and generously portioned. Good beer and wine. We really enjoyed and would highly recommend.

Eat Sunday lunch here at the weekend and it was beautiful. Lovely atmosphere, tasty food and very pleasant staff. Everything about the experience was very ‘Welsh’ and warming. The setting is lovely and the pub is decorated both traditionally and tastefully. There were Welsh and English people eating and both languages could be heard in conversations throughout the bar. The food was delicious, reasonably priced and the portion sizes were perfect. The drinks were also good, we had a wine and an ale.

We shared an evening meal with friends at this lovely place, everything was served quickly and hot. Really tasty and definately value for money. Try the real ale brewed on the premises.

Doesn't open till 6pm but the owner, the staff and the locals are very friendly! Cant beat the food for value for money!
