Superb pub, brilliantly run by Rhys and co. We arranged a small family party which Rhys catered for beautifully. Food was absolutely gorgeous. Rhys catered for dietary requirements with ease and we had a lovely afternoon. We have been too many times to count and never had a bad meal. Highly recommended xx

We went the The Bush today for a wake. Rhys had been extremely helpful and flexible with our requirements and he gave us confidence that we could leave things in his very capable hands. The price was very reasonable too. The buffet was excellent with lots of choice, including Rhys’s very tasty home made scotch eggs. The buffet table was kept well stocked and there was more than enough food. We were also provided with containers to take home the surplus food. I would highly recommend this pub in general as a lovely, friendly and well run pub with a friendly landlord and staff.

Visited again for steak night and was stunning, best food ever, lamb and steak were amazing and love this traditional pub. Can’t wait to return ❤️

My partner and I won some vouchers to dine at the Bush Inn, Upper Cwmbran through a raffle. The Bush has always been a favourite of mine, it reminds me of an old haunt that I once went to in my misspent youth which brings back many happy memories.The Bush has a lovely atmosphere, it’s well run and on Wednesday nights they have curry night which was excellent. I would have no problem recommending this establish to family and friends and we will certainly be returning.

Another exceptional steak night meal, Rhys cooks amazing food, and his steaks are beautifully cooked. Friendly pub with great staff, simply the best food around this area.

Great little pub, nice staff and locals, couldn't get food as didn't book and was busy so definately need to book a table for dining. Will definitely be back, very reasonable drink prices.

Brilliant local pub, very friendly atmosphere. Theme food evenings, Pizza nights, Curry nights and steak night... Top class steak at reasonable prices.. Dogs welcome, plenty of outside space too! .

Went for a family Steak night and it was absolutely stunning, the service was great, the food was 100% I requested a cremated steak and that's what I got....stunning too, the garlic sauce was the best ever. Definitely going back for more.

Excellent from start to finish. Went with family last night, and all were catered for, prices so reasonable even the youngsters ( age 6 and 7) had steak, a range of steaks were ordered, and all were cooked exactly as requested, and all were absolutely delicious, as good, in fact better than I have had in high end steak houses. Fantastic chef and bar staff, highly recommended and looking forward to returning soon.

We ordered the curry night takeaway. The curry was decent, but the sweet potato fries were simply amazing!

The Bush is a small pub run by a dedicated landlord and his team. On Thursday evening, Chef Rhys cooks a selection of stunning steaks. We highly recommend eating at the Bush but suggest that you book at least two weeks in advance. You won't regret it.

I hate Pizza...... I have to say pizza is really not my favourite meal at all. I've eat pizza in the mozzarella capital of Italy which tasted like boot leather. The Bush Inn I have to say serve an amazing variety of pizzas, cooked by a qualified chef as opposed to a bing man....this evening we had two amazing take away pizzas which were simply amazing. I love this pub. Friday nights are music nights. Live bands or open mic night. Bands are always really good. You need to get there early to get a seat/table, as it gets packed very quickly. I have played drums there with a few bands...

Chris, el encargado es un personaje y rápidamente un fuego si lo necesitas. Hemos estado allí cuando él nos ha dado una media barra de pan y mantequilla a algunos hacer nuestra propia tostada sobre el fuego - gratis. Justo antes de Navidad nos tostar castañas en un fuego abierto, literalmente.

Lovely pub with outside space to enjoy the views. Its dog friendly which is great after a walk nearby. Real ales always available. Menus are simple and there is a pizza night and sometimes a curry night. Very friendly owner and customers. Real fire.

Great place to have a quiet one before going for a walk or to stop in after. Right at the bottom of Blaen Bran mountain which is excellent, probably go up there once or twice a month for the past 20 years. Back to the pub.. Very cosy and dog friendly too

Fancied a night out locally with live band and food. .......Arrived and ordered food at 7.30 it finally arrived at 9.30 yes 9.30 we had chased it's wearabouts several times! !!!! The place was packed out and I expect as we were not regulars we were overlooked but really, manager said to go back when it was quieter and he'd sort us out with a meal, but food was defrosted chicken curry so I think we'll give it a miss

We enjoyed an excellent Sunday Lunch at The Bush. The Yorkshire puddings were home made and the roast potatoes crisp! Delicious home made desserts. Definitely worth a visit.

Very friendly small pub located at the Base of Blaen Bran woodland... well worth a stop after a good walk. Dog friendly place with food available (check firstly) a choice of ales and music/bands often playing.

Called in as you do for about the third time in five years. Saturday afternoon was just brilliant, lots of people playing instruments and singing away, and all were having fun.Cant remember why I don't go there, perhaps its time for a change, certainly on a Saturday.

James the Bush Inn chef is building an excellent reputation for his Thursday and Saturday grill nights the quality and value of the meals are high,the only complaint would be the lack of condiments such as mustard etc,you can get around this by purchasing a pepper sauce which is good value well worth a visit

Visited this public house after seeing reviews on trip adviser...went on a Wednesday which was curry night. As we were unsure if the food would be too spicy they very kindly gave us a sample of the curries available before we ordered! Lovely food served in a traditional pub. Worth a visit.

Sooo tasty, cooked beautiful - I am fussy with my steak. I have heard about the chief James, he throws out steaks that are cooked to perfection. Plenty on the plate and satisfying. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed. Pub full as well, you need to book. To top it, a cracking selection of guest ales - keep up the good work

If you've ever wondered what happened to the good old-fashioned local pub, try this place. We went on a Friday night while staying overnight near Pontypool. Very busy as live music was on that evening but even so we were made to feel really welcome by everyone - drinkers and staff alike - and the landlord made a point of chatting to us.Flagstone floors, higgledy-piggledy wooden furniture, bright log fire on a dull evening; a group of drinkers singing and playing at their table; home-made pizza (I think on music nights the usual menu is suspended); everyone of all ages out for the night enjoying themselves. It's slightly tricky to find but well worth it. We left grinning from ear to ear, and wishing it was our own local. We would definitely go back.

Favourite pub to eat at in South Wales, the mushroom pie is beautiful. Great food and lovely place, with friendly staff and great service.

We started visiting The Bush a while ago and now won't go anywhere else!It is everything you'd ever dream of in a cosy, traditional pub and is a true gem.Flagstone floors, log fire, rustic furniture, piano in the corner, guitars and ukuleles dotted around for anybody to play.There is always a well stocked variety of local ales, which change on a regular basis. I particularly like the large selection of malt whiskies behind the bar. Ideal for a quiet drink in front of the fire.There is always something going on at The Bush, from French conversation evenings to ukulele play along afternoons, passing through quiz nights and regular live music nights, catering for all tastes.This is really a gem of a place......

Good wholesome food that can be enjoyed at an affordable price, curries are a must and the steaks are superb, all this in a friendly pub, what more can I say. PS the brunch on a Saturday and Sunday is fab and enjoyed very much by our younger horse riding friends.

Fantastic night was had by all on a wintery Thursday night! It was steak night and that's what our table of four ordered. Plenty of food and honestly the best steak i've had in a long time! Juicy and perfectly cooked. The atmosphere was great. Only down-side was the ladies toilet. Open fire was toasty and it was all very reasonably priced. Very impressed! We will be returning again soon and definately on a Thursday for the steak!

I'm of an age that I can remember local pubs where you knew the landlord and he knew you, where the beers was real and well kept, where the food was proper and homemade and not pretentious fancy pre-packed stuff, where the had a real fire, a stone floor and you could take your dog in after a walk and they had real live music every week? The Bush is that pub, a relic of past greatness, a fantastic place and my local, keep up the great work Chris.

Great pub, great ale, good music and the best curry for miles around! This is an old pub and it retains much of its character and is a great way to round off a mountain walk or a trip to the nearby Blaen Bran Community Woodland.

Had another fab Friday night at The Bush. Home made pizza on a Friday always outstanding, friendly and busy pub with the added bonus of live music. Really made to feel welcome by Chris and the staff. Looking forward to trying more of the menu. A real gem of a place.

It was worth moving from Newport to Cwmbran for The Bush pub to become our local! Always a warm welcome from the lovely staff. There are local real ales, which change every week, home made pizza on Tuesday & Friday and Adrian's famous curry on Wednesday. There is also a full menu available and tomorrow we be trying our first Sunday brunch .We have had some great evenings watching bands on a Friday evening and at St David's and Burns Night celebrations. Highly recommended.

Went to see my son in a jazz night... The home made pizzas are superb and been back several times now for food including pizza, curry(outstanding) and steaks.. Highly recommend here

My wife and I recently went to 'The Bush' for Sunday lunch. The Bush is a friendly traditional pub with a selection of real ales and ciders. Chris the landlord said they had a new chef and we decided to see for ourselves if he was any good. We had a table by the fire, my wife's favourite seat. Still recovering from Christmas excess we decided to forego a starter and went straight to the main course. My wife had beef and I had lamb both meals were delicious and the meat just melted in the mouth. For desert we both had 'home made' apple crumble and custard. It really was home made, a good size portion with lots of custard. All in all a great lunch. Well done The Bush and congratulations to the new chef. thank you.
