Absolutely brilliant place and a proper hidden gem. Sells usual drinks but proper pork pies, cheese etc. Trying to find a fault, but nothing so far. A true micro pub

Micro pub in the style of a traditional pub, no music, no screens, just great beer and a good atmosphere. Situated very close to the top end of town so chippy and bus stop within 100 yards. 5 stars for food as they have lovely local cheeses and pork pies, however its not a restaurant.

This really is an outstanding micro pub. Warm welcome and prompt service. Super beers and 3 of us shared a couple of pork pies with scratchings. Ideal food companions to excellent beers!

Got to be up there amongst the best pubs around. Pure quality from the ales (I had Pheasantry Pale) to the food (cheeses & pies) and the decor with all the pub paraphernalia. Top class atmosphere from the regulars and staff working here. Sorry I had to move on.

Good range of Real ales, cosy atmosphere, but if you want fantastic pork pies or cheese, this place is a must , as the various assortments of detectables, are delicious, and would recommend %100. This is the first time I have had pork pie in a pub ,which is not a restaurant and it goes down a treat , enjoy yourselves. 😉

The best micropub in Ilkeston, and one of the best I have ever been to. Excellent choice of beers, friendly atmosphere and staff. Give the chilled cabinet a look, and get proper cheese, pork pie and other deli delights. Brilliant!

Great place fab atmosphere and amazing pork pies

Popped in for a quick pint, wine and to buy some cheese and pork pie. Everyone in there looked happy, a great atmosphere with music, small bar but has all you need. Landlord is amazing, so friendly and engaging. We've been a number of times as a couple or with mates, same experience every time. Nice and quirky layout, slightly off the main route into town but definitely worth a drop in.

Lovely little pub tucked out of the way of the high street, much bigger than we expected it to be as it has three separate seating areas. Super cosy, unique and a great choice of drinks and snacks. This was our first visit but it definitely won't be our last!

Superb back street micropub serving traditional cask ales, still/ fizzy cider, craft beer and lager. Pork pies, cheese, sausage rolls and other deli items are for purchase, either eat in or take away. Ben and the staff are very welcoming and will assist with the wide variety of ales on offer according to your taste.

A lovely little gem in a quiet corner. I have often walked or driven past only to think "I'll pop in there one of these days". Recently my local got flooded, which was terrible of course. However, this gave me a push to finally give 'the burnt pig' a go. I was not disappointed, in fact I was so impressed I have returned twice since. With each experience better than the last. From the 1st visit, 'Ben and co' were so very warm, welcoming. Ben is especially charming and humorous. The patrons are cheerful and the atmosphere is as if being transported to a bygone era in this quaint and qwerty setting, where everyone loves engaging in eachothers company. Even if you just want a quiet drink in the corner, there's just a positive charge in the air. Not to mention the ale and the whiskey selection and quality are outstanding, especially given the relatively small bar. Before I forget, massive fridge with a vast selection of cheese, pork pies, pastries and beers to take away. Hats tipped and off. Well done!

Amazing, a "proper" pub with a great selection of both drinks and snacks. Very welcoming -Can't recommend highly enough I absolutely love it.

As the hubby and myself were in Derby for a few nights, we went around the county with a Derbyshire Wayfarer and one of the places we visited was the Burnt Pig in Ilkeston. A small pub with the bar just on your right as you came in, we were made very welcome. A decent selection of real ales and dog friendly. There was a fridge next to the bar where you could purchase cheeses, pasties and pies so we got some to take home with us. Well worth a visit.

What a cracking ale house this is, always has different ales to choose from and lots of choices for ciders. Food- well its brilliant to be able to sit there and just have a pork pie, a pasty and even some cheese- even takeaway, including bottles of wines

I have just spent a wonderful time with my family at this great pub. The pork pies and range of beer and cider was great. The best time was had by us all

Back street pubs are often the best and this is a great pub. The burnt pig isn't big but it packs a punch. Several smaller rooms are perfect for socialising. A log burner too, perfect for a winter evening. (review written in 30c weather mind you). Antique dealers looking for enamel signage would have a field day! It's all genuine no repro here. Small bar but a good selection of ales. Fridge packed with pies, cheese. Only ate a sausage roll and pork scratchings but all good hence the 3 star. The staff are in charge of the music, so far ska is the music of choice. Perfect for a balmy night. No surprise that I will come again, make a night of it.

Great atmosphere,friendly staff and a smashing selection of ales for those who can. It's not GF friendly but they do have several ciders. The pork pies are brilliant apparently but not gluten free!

Excellent ales. If you like a good dark, try the Lister's Limehouse porter that's on at the moment. Delicious! 🍻

I agree with many earlier reviews.This is a beer lovers paradise run by a super friendly and highly knowledgable landlord. Not only is there always a great array of beers but some great food lurking in the coolers in the bar. All in all an absolute must when in town.

Nice real ale olde style pub, Good beer can buy cheeses eggs. Friendly their,, but sadly being unemployed could not afford a session at £3.40. A Pint, so ended up in the Wetherspoons. About 5min walk away..

Really really disappointed. Young lady behind bar had a mouth full of pork pie when I was asking about lagers on offer .she had no knowledge of what type of beers she was serving.only a handful of customers and a dog .Will not be going back any time soon.

Whatever great things you have read about this pub ARE ALL true ! Once inside you're impressed by the friendly welcome by the bar staff and the array of different beers on offer. The locals are very welcoming and this admittedly quite small pub gets very busy very quickly. It's amazing what can be achieved in 3 small rooms! Quirky but traditional decor add to the atmosphere. If you are on the lookout for a friendly micropub then this ticks all the boxes. Check it out . M P.S, the Pork Pies are divine !

Splendid little micro. A little off the main drag, but easy enough to find. Great selection of beers and kept really well. The bar was packed, but lots of space in the back rooms

This place has changed ownership recently but it retains its large selection of beers and coders. My companion ordered mango cider which was enjoyed. I chose moretti although the selection of draught beers was tempting.

Visited on Saturday 3rd December 2022 mid afternoon. Traditional ale house, warm and cosy with 3 small rooms rather than 1 large space, bar is in the first room, fire is in the second. Went for an Urban Chicken tap takeover so all cask was obviously Urban Chicken; however, normally it's a mix of breweries, styles & ABVs alongside ciders, lager and some decent keg offerings. The place was absolutely packed but everyone got served, no one cut in, and everyone was friendly, it has a real sense of community. Getting there from Derby is super easy, the Ilkeston flyer drops you off outside The Crafty One (Health Centre bus stop) the Burnt Pig is down the side street next to The Crafty One (which is also excellent). We'll definitely be back.

Would the ignorant wannabe musicians ask before they start playing their guitars, using the tables as drums and singing badly . Honestly what a friggin racket , no need whatsoever , spoilt my session in pig

We went here while visiting my nephew and his girlfriends 1st home together. My nephew always said he couldn't wait for his uncle (my husband) to go as he would love it. Yes, indeed, my husband loved it.

What a find. A friend has been recommending this place for years, but for lots of reasons never been in (don't live locally). Great beer (quality and choice), friendly locals, friendly staff, warm, good prices, superb pork pies.

Not local, but don't worry you soon will feel like you are with the ever friendly clientele. Just the best type of pub, good people, good beer, good snacks, dogs very welcome and very reasonably priced drinks. 👍👍
