The Bull Ring Tavern in Birmingham

Tried submitting an earlier review, not sure what happened Anyway I arrived in Birmingham for a conference and this was the first pub near New Street station that I found. A very friendly locals' pub and I always seek out such pubs when visiting other towns and cities.

A traditional pub, perfect for a football day.

Great service and atmosphere. Good karaoke nights.

What a great place to visit for a day shop till you drop definitely recommend.

Great, traditional pub venue, in a market setting.

Came in for a drink with my boyfriend and we were greeted very rudely. A lady with black hair was tending, as I’m not local - I was unaware of what they served without a menu and she wasn’t very happy or willing to answer my questions. When reiterating what type of drink I wanted back to me, whilst music was playing so loudly I couldn’t hear her - she rolled her eyes thinking we didn’t see her. Wouldn’t really recommend this play unless you like being talked down to🤣

Rough and dodgy looking on the outside, rough and friendly on the inside. First pub I've been in with door staff on at 1130am but the majority of the folk inside were friendly enough. Not as cheap as the decor would suggest but still fair value for money. While not the sort of place to rush back too we'd 100% visit again without hesitation if we were near by and fancied a swift one.

1st time ever I went with a friend didn't have food but had a couple of wines ...very noisy there with people literally shouting over each other to talk hard to hear ourselves speak and think. Didn't have food Very small pub and gets full quick with the local people and regulars it seems . Staff are nice and friendly and for that I give it a 10/10

Decent little pub with really good drinks prices. Good atmosphere in the place, everyone seems to know each other. I'll be back in if I'm passing.

Nice place to watch sports games. Just buy a drink and enjoy the game. Great atmosphere with amazing in-house DJ spinning up the place. Thumps up guys.

You don't have to see it. Unless you love the unkempt. It will be broadcast live on EM Pub. But it is watched without sound. But with karaoke. 😩😂🫣 The staff is extremely unfriendly.

A place where locals meet every Sunday to get housed and sing the worst karaoke imaginable. Everyone seems to know each other and any transgression is forgiven. If you like, a neighborhood vagabond will shoplift per your requirements and deliver to your table. When you leave, say goodbye to the other tables, even the ones you’ve just met, and hope to see them next time. A local treasure. Music is head-splitting and there’s no food.

It's like a Birmingham's answer to the EastEnders Queen Vic off the BBC. Loads of local characters if that's what you want

Went in on a Saturday afternoon for a couple of drinks while visiting the city ....the place was buzzing and was packed which is always a good sign ...we really enjoyed the place and the prices were very reasonable 👍

Always closes early. Advertised open until 11pm but doors locked by 10.40

City centre pub, what more could you want. Unless small heath are on TV

The waiter was very good, very friendly and kind. Highly recommended.

Wow, found this place by accident. Walked in the door and was met with a small but perfectly formed pub. Full of live and characters. Didn’t feel any tumbleweed, as you might when you walk into a proper local. Karaoke full swing. Decor so outdated it took me back to the 70s Xmas decs growing up. Loved it. What a warm and welcoming place. Would hugely recommend and will visit again.

Just a short walk away from the outside Market this pub is always packed music playing and drinks not too badly priced either nice atmosphere.

Just opposite the market and St Martins .Dying breed, great oldschool boozer, music and sport venue. Tuesday Thursday Sunday Karaoke, Wed Bingo. great beer Full marks from me.

Wicked little pub right in the centre, cheap pints with a lovely local pub atmosphere. Friendly staff and great customers. Heard some good stories in there!

Welcoming staff and friendly locals, probably the cheapest pint in the city and well kept Guiness. Perfect for the Train and Coach Stations.

Decent place for an afternoon drink. Cheap too.

Old style inner city boozer. Plain interior, with several big screens for music or sport. Typical range of keg beers and lagers. Fine for a quick one near Market and Moor St station.

Great welcoming place. The bar staff were fab and the door staff R (Dave) very attentive and friendly.

I've never eaten here,so I can't comment I pop in and out over the past 30 years 2/3 times a month. Its a lively city pub. Full of characters and still holds links to old brum.

This pub used to be fantastic but the last few years it’s gone right down the pan druggy shoplifters selling their stolen stuff which the landlady seems to encourage. No definitely not a nice place now.

Was in another pub and asked the barman for the dodgiest bar in Birmingham, and he said the Bullring Tavern without hesitation. Skulled my pint and made a b line for the bull ring tavern. Plenty geysers in here singing karaoke and having a bit of craic. Wouldn't want to look at them the wrong way for fear they'd go mad but twas exactly what I was looking for. Cheap pints of beer and plenty entertainment. Will be back again.

I went to this pub for a drink. I thought I will drink and come out early but the moment I went inside, I received good gesture from people. I really enjoyed my time there and I stayed for a long time. I Had 4 double shots of Jack Daniels. Someone was having birthday and all were singing and dancing.

One of the best bars in brum a great stop to sink a few pints on the way to st andrews. For an average beer its about £3.20 which is great for the area. Only small issue here is the toilets.

i came here for my first time on my birthday just for a quick drink on the afternoon...we ended up chatting to a fair few of the locals and it was a great friendy place...felt like a local from back home...we decided to come back on the night time too and they give us best table in the house in front of the big screen so we could watch our football team play.....we loved it so much here we came back the next night too...deffo worth a visit...next time I'm in Brum I'll definitely be coming in here...absolutely brilliant xx

A nice atmosphere and ambience. A limited selection of beers, though they did have a nice range of cocktails. Will have to visit again.

What an amazing group of people who drink here. A quick drink on our way back to the hotel ended up being a great night with the locals. My husband sang on the karaoke with one of the girls, another bought a load of jägers when she found out it was my birthday, and Tommy put his well known hat on my husband. Gutted we went outside for some fresh air and the drunkeness hit us so we just headed back to the hotel without saying our goodbyes to the Brummies who showed us 2 scousers a great welcoming night!

Went to go in for a quiet pint...had 1/5 of coca cola left as I walked in ...was just about to chuck it in bin and order..when an proper horrible looking man immediately approached me asking me to leave pushing me out the door using his massive belly to usher me out saying not today...Without an explanation. Felt like plain bully tactics and frankly never felt so insulted by a complete stranger in my life.no uniform. No indication he even worked there..he even threw his used chewing gum into my open bag I mean what a welcome to Birmingham city centre.must be just angry, sad fat n ugly.not my fault
