The Bull public house in Mid Suffolk

Lovely young man serving us today, a REAL asset to this pub. Very generous servings for the starters. I didn’t like the garlic mushroom starter however, personal taste but not creamy enough for me, they were rather claggy. I didn’t eat them, which is not like me!.

Fabulous evening, superb staff food and venue, asked to preorder food as we were one of a few big parties Food came out exactly as ordered and piping hot. Very good value too Thank you the Bacton Bull

Absolutely fantastic evening! Beautiful Inn with incredible atmosphere! The food was incredibly with a great choice of Menu! My husband didn’t feel too well and the staff were very kind. Would most definitely return!

Superb lunch for Mother’s Day. Between us we had lamb, beef and chicken. All were great. Plenty of veg and service top draw.

Visited for the first time in 9 years and had a great experience! This place has changed hands a few times and had a couple of paint jobs so didn’t know what to expect. Lovely roast dinners and burger meal. All the family were very happy. Delicious desserts too. Washed down with a couple of pints of Victoria Bitter. Top marks.

Lovely meal and great, friendly service particularly by the lovely female members of staff working on 6th March. Unfortunately the very impressive restaurant part of the pub was not in use, but having viewed it ,it is something special.

Tried The Bull for Sunday lunch having read some good reviews , however it fell well short of expectations and turned out to be a rather expensive mistake. The order was one pork and one beef roast dinner with an additional cauliflower cheese. We went for the smaller portion option as the plates looked packed. The order came quickly and looked good but there were serious issues. Let's start with the positives - the roasted root vegetables were excellent, as was the red cabbage. The exceptionally small portion of both meats were good too, but that was it. The roast potato was OK, but not crisp. The green beans were horrid - really crunchy and stringy as insufficiency cooked . The Yorkshire pudding was stone cold and the cauliflower cheese was inedible as the cauliflower wasn't cooked at all - it was rock hard! I raised these issues with the proprietor, who was very apologetic and removed the cauliflower cheese from the bill he also brought over a dish of 'alternative ' green beans that sadly were as undercooked as the originals. Upon presentation of the bill, he also took off a couple of pounds and assured us that should we return, it'll be better. Sorry, but I'm not a gambler and won't be risking my hard earned cash on his assurances as too many basic kitchen errors were made. It's a shame that this was so poor as it didn't pass my basic test of 'was this better than what I could have cooked?' The answer - an emphatic no.

A really nice atmosphere and pleasant front of house staff. However the food I received wasn't up to scratch and disappointing, (The Halloumi Chicken Burger). The halloumi was totally burnt and not edible, the chicken breast and chips were also on the dry side (all seemed over cooked). I mentioned the halloumi was totally burnt to the waitress and it was replaced but after the rest of my meal had mostly been eaten. I hope they are able to get back to sending out good consistent food as I had a very good meal there at Christmas.

On 14 December 2023, a friend and I chose the Bull's Christmas dinner menu. It was absolutely superb in every respect, including the glass of mulled wine! Great chef.

The Bull Inn manages to be all things at once without compromise - a local institution and meeting place, but also a friendly and inviting pub for visitors such as myself. I was immediately greeted upon my arrival with a coming and going slice of life of Bacton and some incredibly friendly and responsive staff members. It has both a great drinks selection and a varied food menu. I had the Panko Brie and the Local Sausages and Mash and if they're any representative of the rest of the menu's quality I cannot say anything but praise. The exact sort of hearty, decent sized, good value portions that a pub should be proud to offer its hungry customers. Next time I am up in Suffolk, I'm definitely adding it to my stops again.

We meet up at the Bull for family get togethers as they are a dog friendly establishment. You always get a good meal there , so we always book when we are visiting from Lincolnshire. Everyone had a wonderful roast dinner and you are able to chose a smaller portion if your appetite is not so large. The Staff pay constant attention to make sure you have an enjoyable visit. It’s great to know you always get consistent quality at the Bull.

The Bull was our venue of choice on Saturday evening for my husbands 50th birthday party. We had access to the whole pub and The Bull provided curry, rice, accompaniments, pizza and chips, The food was amazing, the bar staff were amazing and the whole night was a complete success. The feedback from all attendees has been out of this world. I would definitely recommend The Bull for a private function. Their service is 10 out of 10.

Recently held our wedding reception at the Bacton bull. In the months leading up to our event we had regular contact with Rory and Duncan and could not fault them one bit. They asked questions and were able to answer all of our questions. Food on the day was amazing and lovely big portions for a 3 course meal. Helped make our day run smoothly also helped set up and clean up end of the day. Staff were kind, friendly and helpful. Would definately recommend to anyone

I met a dear friend for dinner here, we've been before so were expecting good food & we were not disappointed. It's a popular pub for food so book ahead, the car park is usually overflowing so there is on road parking. Food was delicious & generous portions, I had salmon off the specials board & thoroughly enjoyed, my friend had the fish pie which he said was very tasty. Atmosphere was friendly & country pub, we'll certainly be back when I next visit them

Just wanted to say a huge thank you to all the staff at Bacton Bull. We went for 2 big birthdays birthday with several relatives who had never been before and it could not have been more perfect. Everyone in the party had nothing but compliments about the mezzanine, the food and the service. Could not have asked for more so huge thank you to you all!!! Can not recommend this place highly enough for going above and beyond to cater for everyone's needs and even the little extras 😊

As far as we are concerned this is one of best Inns we have ever visited. Fortunately for us we now live within walking distance so we are delighted. The welcome is always warm and friendly. The food is exceptionally good and the staff are wonderful. The Bull is also a great place just to pop in for a drink. Another bonus is that they have live music nights which are great. Visited for Sunday lunch with partner, parents-in-law and kids, 6 of us in total. Friendly staff who were very attentive without being hovering. Nice atmosphere. We had 4 roasts (pork, beef and chickenx2) and I can honestly say it was the best roast out I have probably ever had. The gravy was perfect - thick, rich and glossy! The other 2 had burgers which looked amazing, fantastic chips!! My only regret is that I was too full to try their desserts! Prices were pretty standard too (around £17 per meal), but for the portion size and the quality, that is more than fair. We will most definitely visit again.

The roast dinner was outstanding. Very tasty and rich in flavour. We both had the nut roast. Will definitely be coming back, but will choose the smaller portion as it was massive. We will be back.

Had lunch here today and the food was superb, all four of us had different main courses, my chicken satay skewer was lovely, the pickled salad, rice and pitta bread were all perfect accompaniments. This used to be my local pub more than twenty years ago and what a lovely surprise to find it in excellent hands and what an improvement. Popped in for an impromptu lunch, after house hunting locally. Friendly welcome, extremely well organised with hand gel, checking in and spotlessly clean in the bathrooms. Lovely garden, friendly and charming staff. We ordered a spicy pasta dish, very good and had a Spanish kick to it yet keeping it’s pasta origin. Great use of ingredients and fresh flavours. A divine bowl of pasta, a little bit different also. My partner had fishcakes, he said they were spot on and were very good. All in all lovely, a pleasant surprise near our new home. We ordered a takeaway from here and it was lovely!! It came really well packaged, so it was still warm when we came to eat it and the food was so tasty! The best chips we have had in ages. Really good value for money too, each meal that we ordered was more than enough to fill us up and wasn’t anywhere near overpriced at all. Can’t rate this place highly enough, and will definitely be returning for another meal soon.

The takeaway food was excellent, the steak bomb is the meatiest melt in your mouth pie you could ever wish for

I absolutely love it here! The food is excellent, the staff are so friendly, patient and always there to help if needed. With the covid guidelines at the moment the bull has stuck by this, making sure everyone is safe and socially distant. Overall a beautiful family pub

We met up with friends from Essex who recommended this pub. What a good call. "Covid safe" all the way from the entrance, the toilets and the way were served put us at ease as we are all in our late 50's and early 60'.An excellent choice of ales, all well kept. Good menu. The food was excellent and the staff were polite and pleasurable.If we are ever in Suffolk again we would definitely pay another visit.

After a small family reunion with my wife, sister in law and nephew, we decided to go to the Bull inn at Bacton for our first meal out since covid-19 began. We were greeted by a very pleasant young man who was very helpful. Being a sunny warm day we sat outside. Drinks were brought out to us and then the food. It was absolutely delicious, there was not a single complaint from any of us. Sister in law and nephew will be back in January and we will be booking a table. We were looking around the area as looking to re-locate here from Surrey. Popped in on the off chance hoping for a drink at least, but found they were serving food also. Very well organised around the new rules and everything was clean and sanitised. Tables well spaced out so it didn't feel to close to the person next to you. The menu was full of good choices. Food arrived promptly and hot and very tasty. Would definitely recommend and hope to be back.

We arrived to a busy pub, with the fires lit and the mulled wine ready! Most tabled were booked out but the staff were so accommodating they squeezed us in. We ordered starters and mains and they arrived in good time and were hot. The food was outstanding and the menu was brilliant (lots of veggi options also). I highly recommend giving the pub a visit whether it is for drinking, eating or both. It holds a welcoming atmosphere and is beautifully decorated. Special thanks to our waitress Linda, who was warm welcoming and brilliant at her job!

We had such a great Christmas dinner here in early a December, the best we have had for a long time with one of our friends. This was our first visit to the Bull Inn since its refurbishment and it most certainly won't be our last! There is a large car park in front of the building and we were greeted with a friendly welcome as soon as we entered. We were visiting for lunch and the food and service were excellent. The atmosphere was also very good. I would highly recommend this superb rural pub in a most pleasant part of Suffolk.

Went here on a Thursday lunchtime and had one of the best pub lunches I have had in a long while. We had Fish pie with delicious vegetables like baby carrots and green beans and the Lamb Bourgogne which was lovely with fragrant rice. The log fire was burning in the bar and the radiators were hot......what more do you need?

Thought we would give this pub a try after passing it earler in the week . We were renting a cottage for a few days in Old Newton.Being strangers to this particular area of Suffolk ,its like throwing a dice when choosing a restaraunt .Well let me tell you a double six came out here .Meal was perfect for both of us ,my wife ordered fish & Chips - perfect in everyway my burger was of the highest quality. We booked this venu for my 70th birthday party for 50 people. Brilliant service, brillaiant atmosthere brilliant food. The whole evening was exceptional. I would recomend the Bacton Bull. The owners and staff could not have been more helpful. We will be back.
