Having really enjoyed a meal here with family in the summer I returned for dinner tonight and can honestly say ‘Wow’. The food was delicious, the staff warm and friendly and the atmosphere was great. I can totally recommend this restaurant.

It has been a long time since I have walked out of a restaurant feeling that the service and attention has been top notch. The Bull was perfect in all respects with a little downer on a slightly hard roast beef. Our first visit under new management, but they managed to make one feel you were a regular customer in your home pub. The range of dishes were great with new concepts added to the regular items to add interest to the meal. Somebody is taking a lot of care and attention to the running of this establishment and we shall be returning again and again - thank you

Popped in for a quick bite after a dog walk. Staff were really welcoming and menu very varied and all sounded delicious. The food did not disappoint. We really enjoyed it and will definitely be back.

We went for lunch on Wednesday 11/9/2024 and went for the three course set menu £20 per head, excellent value. We received a warm welcome, the waiters were attentive, but not overbearing. We had mussels with tarragon and cream as a starter, Cumberland sausage and mash , peas and onion gravy and sticky toffee pudding and ice cream. We only chose the pub because it has a disabled loo. My God am I glad we did choose this place. This was simple food but cooked to absolute perfection. Being a great fan of sticky toffee pudding I gave it a squidge with my fingers before eating it. I knew it was going to be light and spongey. This place is well worth seeking out if you are ever in this neck of the woods and has a large car park.

The bull at Arborfield has really gotten great under the new management. The staff are fantastic and really make you feel welcome. Quality of food is tip top, super tasty and fresh. The stone baked pizza and outdoor area is a very nice addition to the restaurant and glad to have this on our doorstep. If you are local, definitely check it out.

Absolutely lovely meal and amazing service, the experience was especially great because of Aidan. He made us feel so welcome, he had a lovely sense of humour, looked after us both inside the restaurant and when we moved outside, putting the heater on for us. He was attentive and had great “northern hospitality”. Our first time here but would definitely come back because of the lovely food and wonderful service. Well done Aidan.

Dinner out with a lovely friend - both our meals were superbly cooked, very tasty and an appropriate portion size. No food pics as too busy chatting & catching up! Trout & Belly Pork dishes followed by ice cream & coffees - thoroughly recommend these meals and location. Attentive, friendly staff were fab too.

A friend and I had a fabulous dinner at The Bull. The service was friendly and considered, Drew was great at looking after us. The food was delicious. We had the cod and pork belly. Highly recommended and has a good allergen menu too.

Disappointing. One order was incorrect, but there was no recompence on the bill. Chicken was very rubbery, couldn't finish it. Very limited vegan / veg choice. Staff were polite, no issues there, but was disappointed with the food

Four of us went for lunch at the Bull in Arborfield on Saturday. The food was the best we have eaten out for a very long time. So, top marks to the Chef. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. From the moment we were greeted at the door it was a lovely occasion.

I had to drop my score for service, because one of the waitresses was quite rude, she didn't have any patience for us. The other waiting staff and food was great!

I found the food mediocre and quite pricey. Steak pie, mash, veg and gravy at almost £19.00 with chunks of beef that tasted bland and a bit grisly. The gravy in the pie and the gravy on the side were totally different consistencies and flavours. I was sorry I didn't get the sausage and mash from the 'Kids Menu' which looked really nice . Well-presented food, THE STAFF. What can I say about the staff? Other than the fact that they all made the place friendly, comfortable and just forced you into a sense of enjoyment. Dog-friendly garden with children's play area and marquee shelter/ shade if required. Speedy service, attentive and friendly. I would give the staff and service 10 stars if I could. Pricey, ( in my opinion ) but well worth a visit.

Starters were good the rest of the food was poor, I ordered truffle fries and they are honestly the worst I’ve ever had, there was no real truffle on them!! The pie honestly my dog wouldn’t eat it was that bad and poor quality:(

Visited a Friend in the area and went there for lunch and a pint.

Alicya and Tom, and their team are AMAZING. They have a great menu, and they do change it from time to time, so no boring same old offerings. Their mussels are absolutely to die for, burgers, especially the chicken burger, more recently had their Caesar Salad, one of the best in town, and summer comes with outdoor seating and pizza. In the garden they have a great little play area for the small ones, so all are welcome.

What a great find, looking at some different restaurants to go to and the Bull Inn came up, strangely we haven't been here before as we live locally, I'd just like to say we were welcomed by Stevie very warmly, the food is absolutely lovely, we had the scallops and halloumi to start and the seafood linguine and megrim sole, all very fresh ingredients cooked to perfection and tasted amazing. We really enjoyed the evening, Stevie looked after us very well, the best thing is this will now be our local go to restaurant, thanks again I would give you more stars if I could, see you again very soon

Encouraged by many positive reviews me & my partner decided to book dinner Thur 4 April and so glad we did on arrival we got a warm welcome & the restaurant was busy with couples n family and lively atmosphere. the restaurant looks cosy newly tastefully decorated. The service by Stevie and the team was absolutely brilliant plenty of smiles and attentive throughout. I started with scallops my partner had truffle halloumi followed by megrim sole & seafood linguine. Not been here in years but returned today after hearing such good reviews and wasn't disappointed. Great food, great beer, great staff, great combination of country pub and chic restaurant. Special enough for a special occasion or date night, but also casual enough for lunch or a snack and a pint. I know we'll be back soon and on a regular occasion.

Our first visit since the new owners took over. 7pm on a sat night. Nice quiet table in the smaller area near the bar. Our waiter was brilliant - super attentive all evening (didn't catch his name but tall young chap). We had a mix of starters and all were great and nice size portions. The only slight let down was being told they had run out of both steak specials (ribeye and sirloin) as well as fillet on the main menu which left just rump. Not sure how you can run out of 3/4 of steaks by 7.15pm but there were plenty of options. I went for the Chicken Kiev which was lovely and all the sides were well cooked and flavoursome.

Second time we have been while under the new management. Wow the food is amazing. Cauliflower cheese soup and the bread is to die for, apple crumble just like mum used to make. Brilliant food and lovely staff.

Sunday roast very generous and delicious. Chocolate brownie and raspberry ice cream a very fitting ending.

We had an excellent meal here today. We turned up without a booking and they managed to fit us in, and we are so glad they did. We had baked camembert starter, which was possibly the best baked camembert we have ever had. We both had chicken burger for main, which were really tasty with hand made hash browns, fried egg, and spice Mayo. Then managed to fit in dessert, the banoffee cheesecake was a superb way to finish the meal. The service throughout was excellent and they made time to treat us as an important customer. We will be returning, and will be recommending it to family.

Great atmosphere and lovely sevice. My pizza and chips were taken away while we were still eating! We were not asked if we finished, I managed to grab full bowl of chips back. Than who I believe is a manager came and told us that we had to leave as the table was reserved! We came at 6:30 and were asked to leave at 7:15. She sat us there in a first place. She said we can sit in a beer garden. Really? With two children in February? I wish someone would tell us that was the case then we would understand and would have gone somewhere else for dinner. My girls spilled a drink on herself and floor. I was given towel and napkins to clean. Not one person offered to help. I would have done cleaning anyways but just a thought counts. That's my fault for trying to support local businesses and should have probably stuck to Nandos! 😔 very disappointed!

What a lovely Tuesday evening. Where just going to pop in for a drink and had snacks Met by Aiden at the reception and was the most amazing host for the evening. His colleague she was so lovely too. Sorry cannot remember her name. Will definitely be going back.

Great Sunday lunch and service, feels like an extension is needed as a somewhat claustrophobic. Glad to help out local business rather than chains even if a little expensive

Three of us went for a roast dinner today (Sunday). All aspects of the food were excellent and the beers were perfectly kept. We'll be back.

Fabulous New Year's Day meal Great Service

We have visited twice in the last month, would defo recommend! The first time we had a lovely meal! They have recently modernised and refurbished, the inside is small but cosy and homely! The outside has a large space, partly covered and heated, large garden which will be great in the summertime!! the staff are really helpful! We spent New Years Eve there and had an amazing time, the staff did as much as they could to make it enjoyable as possible, there was a excellent live band, heated outside area with wind guards, a bar outside, they even made us stone baked pizzas which were delicious!!! We will be back soon!

Today was possibly the 5th time we’ve now eaten here under the new management and it’s high time I submitted a review. We’ve been as part of a large party twice and as smaller tables, the service and standards don’t vary. You really are doing it very well and long may you continue. Thank you Mark

Wonderful food and wine choices

I had been to The Bull a couple of times under the various previous incarnations but had never been impressed. What a fantastic change today was! I went for a Sunday roast which in itself was lovely, however what made it such an enjoyable lunch was the superb service from Aidan, Sophie and the rest of the team. They could not do enough for me, attentive, friendly and professional. If they keep these standards up, they've gained a new customer.

Nice pub, went for our works Xmas party, but I'm an extremely fussy eater, and the food was not really to my liking, but this isn't a slant on the pub! My only issue was instead of all being on one table we were on 4 separate ones!

Fabulous evening, great food would definitely recommend the sea bream I had it was delicious.

This was an exceedingly average experience which didn't quite manage average. Very quiet evening in the pub yet it took 15 minutes to even get our first coffee due to a problem with the machine. The results were a very below par beverage. Starter was okay but then we had to wait over half an hour for our mains which weren't the best either. Service was a bit cold... Staff didn't seem to listen or interact with us or seem to notice that we were sat with no food for over half an hour. Really wanted desert but abandoned that plan in case of more disappointment. I'd hate to think what it would have been like if it was actually busy.

Good food and excellent service from friendly and attentive staff. Although not a vegetarian, I selected one delicious vegetarian course and was tempted by others. After seeing other vegetarian courses, and the reaction of those who selected them, I would happily choose them in future. Between our group most options were selected and all found to be excellent. The staff were friendly and efficient. We will definitely visit again.

Went on a quiet winter Tuesday evening so not much of an atmosphere but perfect place to catch up with friends without having to shout to hear each other. Staff were friendly and service was great. They were low on alcohol free beer and called last orders at 21:30 which took us by surprise but the pub was quiet and so probably not cost effective to keep open when only a handful of punters in. I hear good things about the food but not sampled it yet.

In new hands, as I understand. I visited on a Monday, and so things were rather quiet. I really enjoyed the food and the service was present without being intrusive. I would recommend giving it a try if you are in the area.

Arrived for a drink in an empty pub. Was asked to sit outside as the restaurant was fully booked. It was empty. Literally zero people in it. Said “I will only be 20 minutes. Was assured every table would be full within the next 20 minutes. Strange attitude. Sat outside in the cold whilst the rocky theme played over an old stereo from an outside bar. Outside bar would be great; just maybe not in November. Left after 20 minutes. Pub still empty.

Formerly an old fashioned country pub. Has been transformed into a very tasteful Gastropub. The owner is a well respected member of the community and has provided a focal point facility. My sons and I enjoyed our visit. We will definitely be going there again.

Great chicken wings and pizza! Kids played outside while we sat and enjoyed the company and drinks.

A stop for a bite to eat and a good beer (or two). A nice oldy worldly pub in a great setting.

Came in this evening (2nd October) and had a lovely time! Didn’t catch our servers name (we were table 18 around 8pm) but he was brilliant :) fast service, perfect portion sizes, delicious food. See you guys again soon!

Sunday roast not great. I can’t comment on the week day menu but would not recommend the Sunday roast.

The new owners have turned this into a lovely little gastro pub. The food is outstanding and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful! My wife is celiac and they have some really great gluten free options - including the fish and chips which she loved! Chicken wing starter is awesome and the duck main is delish. Would 100% recommend.

Need to come back here. I've cycled by twice before thinking how nice it would be to actually have a drink there. Tonight I did. Great ambience.

Fabulous meal again last night to celebrate hubby's birthday. He even got sung "happy birthday" to by waiters & manager. Special mention to Aiden waiter for arranging it. Be back again soon.

Lovely pub, 1st visit since its reopened and food is absolutely amazing

Has large car park and big back garden with good play area. Nice layout inside with many tables. The menu was extensive and varied with interesting choices. The starters were excellent whilst the mains okay. We were greeted by a lovely waitress, made to feel welcome and the service was great. We understand that they're under new ownership, so wish them success and we'll definitely visit again

Nice meal at the just reopened Bull Inn. Indoors was fully booked so we were guided to the garden area where the full menu was available. Staff members were helpful and friendly.

Lovely place for a quick bite to eat. Staff friendly and quick with service. Minor issue if it can be called that. Make sure that you check the ingredients. The children's Bolognese came with cheese on top that was not mentioned on the menu. As it wasn't mentioned we did not ask for it without as the child doesn't like cheese.

Paid my first visit to the 'new' Bull last night with a friend. Couldn't fault the food, service and ambiance of the Bull all excellent. We both had the chicken breast with dauphinoise potatoes and my friend asked for a change from broad beans not a problem. I had sticky toffee pudding one of the best I've ever tasted. Staff were attentive and friendly special mention to Sophie? If the Bull can keep up these levels I for one will return.

Under new management. The whole building has been re-done and looks very bright and cheery. The staff were lovely and attentive. The bar staff were constantly cleaning and polishing glasses as well as serving their orders quickly. The food was fresh cooked and not microwaved stuff. One of our party was gluten I tolerant and they were very helpful when she was chosing her meal. The portion sizes were spot-on. The menu is not huge which is a positive. They have a limited menu that they can concentrate on and do well. Menu includes fish, chicken, lamb, vegetarian options, steak and pizza if eating in the bar/beer garden. We enjoyed the food and the atmosphere and will be back.

Spotted that The Bull had reopened so came for lunch. The portions were huge and the food was fine. Unfortunately at lunchtime there wasn't much atmosphere: I'd expect it a bit more bustly in the evenings

Three of us just had an excellent meal last night. We shared the crispy squid, which was good to see it was home made, maybe a bit too much batter but delicious and crispy all the same. We had between us the fish and chips, the sea bream and the lamb rump. All elements cooked to perfection. Nice coffee to finish. Service was excellent. I think they’ve got it just right and look forward to going again.

After a rocky six months, the new management at The Bull have really turned things around. Service is good and friendly if a little dlow (to be fair, they've only been going for three weeks at the time of writing) but can't fault the food or atmosphere. Such a relief!

Just had a Sunday roast to say it was disgusting is an understatement. Turkey was cut like doorsteps and goose fat all under veg and potatoes I think it was all frozen to be warmed through. Beef was stringy and tough. Never again far better places to have a roast I’m sure. Please can I say this was when it was run by the previous owners not the new ones who have now taken over in 2023.

Went Sunday 9th July - First impressions, some areas requiring improvement: service - Waiter layed cutlery and held the blades of the knives - YUK, Pork belly had no crackly skin - skin was actually cut off - Who does that?!?!?!? - People parked in diasabled bays with no blue badge on display and staff not interested. However, They do the best chips I've ever eaten - The portions were exceptional and besides the pork belly starter, all were excellent. We will be back

Absolutely phenomenal... Wow what a difference the new owners have made. Came in for dinner with my Brother and Sister after hearing that it has new management and I cannot fault the place. It's beautifully decorated with the tables well spaced out so you don't feel like you are eating your dinner on the lap of the next table over. The newly built outside bar is lovely with plenty of seating and what looked like pizza ovens which weren't on when we went but if you can have a beer and a freshly made pizza in the sun I will be visiting every lunch time. The staff are all friendly, polite and seem to genuinely enjoy working together which makes a world of difference when it comes to atmosphere. The food is incredible not a single thing on the menu didn't sound appealing. I had a crab salad for my starter and I have to say the salad was one of the freshest tasting salads I've ever eaten every bite was like an explosion of flavour. My brother said his paté was incredible and after sampling a little bit of it I can fully agree, the apple chutney was also a highlight. For main I had the Ribeye steak which although is expensive the quality more than makes up for the price you pay. It was cooked perfectly and melted in your mouth it was served with a great piece of onion loaf (massive fan of onion loaf), mushroom, tomato and chips and your choice of sauce it's certainly not a small portion either so you will definitely be full up after. My sister had the Mushroom Risotto which after of course sampling a little bit I can tell you it was perfectly balanced. Not too rich and creamy but packed full of flavour. Of course I had to have dessert but I just went for a light Lemon Tart (all made in house) and it was a perfect end to a perfect meal served with a divine scoop of ice cream. If you treat yourself to one dinner out this month I urge you to try this place out. I for one will be 100% returning.

We've just had a lovely lunch at the bull. The new owners have done an excellent job. The interior is beautiful and welcoming and the food was delicious. The food was tasty and presented beautifully. Pub food at restaurant quality. Taking a peek outside and you can see the garden area is big and well designed with an outside bar. Staff were attentive and looked after us well. We had a pushchair with us and they were baby friendly with a changing table in the disabled toilets. Will definitely be back.

The Bull Inn at Arbourfield is under new management but still retains its charm, warm welcome and delicious food. Any pub that stocks Fullers London Pride as its main beer cannot go wrong.
