The Bull at Berkhamsted in Dacorum

The bull is the best pub in Berkhamsted. It’s without a doubt the best food and vibes in town. I highly recommend it

The Bull is without doubt the very best place to enjoy a Sunday roast. Exceptional food, awesome atmosphere. The staff are a credit to the owners. Don't go anywhere else! Wednesday steak night is also a major highlight. This is one of the last true community pubs left. Enjoy.

We came for a Sunday roast dinner and thoroughly enjoyed it! The hot chocolate cake pudding was incredible. Service is always friendly and efficient at the Bull, you feel looked after. A great, cosy pub which is worth a visit!

The very best Sunday lunch I have had out. Totally delicious. The roast beef was to die for , my husband loved the beetroot mustard and he normally hates beetroot!! Just fabulous and the music was great too .

Very disappointed with their specials hot dog. At £16 I was expecting something very special at that price. Several within our group ordered it and most didn’t finish it. Drinks were good, nice non alcoholic beer and service very attentive. Place itself was a great setting with a nice relaxed feel. Appreciate your feedback hence edit. I don’t like to raise things in a restaurant as I find it uncomfortable, in any case, and for what it’s worth, you would have had to have changed the type of sausage, use a premium roll, nicer/better cooked onions and a good choice of hot dog sauce options. To sum it up, it was very bland. Maybe it’s the price I paid which is why it’s getting such a low mark.

Ordered a Sunday lunch take out last weekend. Amazing food, really enjoyed and full of flavour. Cant recommend highly enough. The food was on time and pipping hot. Will most definitely order again. Top work to the Kitchen!

Nice pub with great terrace for the sunny days. Food was ok (really not great but decent for a pub) and service was not very professional - wrong order and dishes arriving late. Staff was very friendly however

Great atmosphere, excellent food and attentive staff. Bull burger is easily the best burger around.

I found it on the map, but I didn't expect it to be awesome, the staff were very nice, Watching the football match :) dont forget you need to write the plate in a notebook to register the vehicle.

One of the best roasts I have ever had, moist pork meat and delicious gravy. My dad is vegan and we were very impressed by the faux beef roast. I just could not believe the size of the portions, it looked like a kids meal. I saw the staff on their break with much bigger portions and was jealous!!!

We had a fabulous Sunday roast at The Bull in Berkhamsted today. Not only was the food excellent (awesome gravy!) but the service and all round atmosphere in the pub make it very relaxing and enjoyable place to be. We will definitely be back.

! I was in this place with my partner , the night was going well we were greeted by a barmaid called Jess. Upon first greeting she was very charming, she helped us with change to play on the arcade machines, they are very fun! The next time we went to the bar for a drink she was extremely rude to my partner she denied him another round of what we where drinking ( double g&t) without a reason, in her words “sit out a round” My partner displayed no ill behaviour and I can honestly say better than anyone he was in no way drunk. In my opinion it was extremely bad judgement and ultimately our time there was ruined from this member of staff.

Nice little pub good selections of drink. Only downfall is it very cold so could do with so heating on.

What a cracking pub serving seriously good food with a helping of fabulous service, and you even bring your dog. Those haggis croquetta are outstanding. Will definitely return.

Just had three ribeye Steaks the Steaks well cooked but not hot and plates where cold. Disappointed will not be back

27/10/23: Hemel Hempstead Weekend: visiting friends John & Hazel for the weekend, myself Lynette & Bryan enjoyed a lovely relaxed pint here. We'd travelled to Berkhamsted for the afternoon. The weather was cold and crisp outside but the pub was warm and welcoming. Good service, good selection of craft ale.

We had only drinks. Very cosy ☺️.

I swung by The Bull for lunch today, and let me tell you, that braised featherblade was off the charts! Cooked in local ale, it was like a flavor explosion in my mouth. The creamy mash was so smooth, I could eat it by the spoonful, and the broccoli added a healthy touch. The atmosphere was cozy, and the service top-notch. If you're in the mood for some hearty comfort food and a great pub experience, The Bull is the place to be for lunch. Cracking pint of Guinness aswell! I'm definitely coming back for more of that featherblade goodness!

The owners have turned this once bedraggled local dive in to a bustling neighbourhood pub that serves a good range of beers, has lovely food, really excellent staff, a good outside area, showing all major sporting events, kid and dog friendly and with ample parking. What more could you want?

A nice cosy pub at the end of Berko High Street, they have a covered outdoor bit if the weather isn't so good, staff always friendly! Haven't tried the food yet but it always smells amazing!

Lovely canal side pub. Narrow but perfectly adequate garden which backs right up to the Grand Union canal. Lovely with a cold pint watching the wildlife and barges going past.

Just called in for a quick beer which was fine.

Great spot, really lovely setting. Staff were very attentive & friendly. Unfortunately, we were disappointed by the food. The roast beef baguette and venison pie both sounded lovely on the menu but didn't live up to the description. Would certainly stop for a drink again but would maybe not the food.

Not sure why but well, before any normal pub closing time the owner wants to close the pub to suit 😉 him and not his paying customers Staff are rude when closing up Loads of beautiful and better pubs to be used rather than this place

Great pub. Lovely food and really friendly and helpful bar staff. We were late for our booking but since we kept them informed of our progress they saved our table and made sure there was food left for us when we finally got there.

Some of the staff need some training around talking to people like humans. Extra star as the beer was ok.

What a shame to experience such rude service. Asked to order some chips for me and my two year old but told they need to be saved for main meals but I could buy crisps at the bar. Overall, we were all spoken to rudely and could understand being busy on a bank holiday but it doesn’t warrant rudeness. We went onto other local pubs along the canal which were just as busy and received much better customer service. Will not be returning here.

We have been here twice before and both times had poor experiences (but thought give the place a chance), the staff are extremely rude. We thought 3rd time lucky it might be better but how wrong were we. The staff are still as rude as before and we now won’t ever return. Such a shame as Great location.

Cosy pub - OK food and nice staff.

Shame you can’t pick 0 stars! Rude, Obnoxious and unprofessional staff! As a group of 12 we were planning to stay for a few hours but the staffs behaviour pushed us out the door after one. Unfortunate, as the pubs in a great location! Moved on to the other great local pubs available. In response to your reply, we tried to order food but was told there wasn’t any chips available. Two out of the twelve members in our group had a sandwich in their bag which they did take a bite of due to not being able to order the chips. We were approached in an aggressive manor by your staff member which then prompted a reaction. As you say, in such a tough industry you’d like to think your staff would try to find out the details before being so rude to paying customers. 12 people will now share their bad experience from The Bull with friends and family and this all could of been avoided if your staff member had behaved in a professional manor.

Had roast lamb and partner had roast butternut squash. Biscoff cheese cake and summer pudding. Very well presented, nicely cooked and most importantly fantastic service

Visited the Bull for an early evening drink and I have got to say I was a little disappointed by the attitude of the landlord. I overheard a customer ask a very reasonable question, only to get a very sarcastic and cutting response. Not a great impression or look for an establishment I thought was better than that. My overall feeling was that the landlord was quite arrogant and felt he could behave in a way to impress a few locals. Sadly this is not going to be a pub I will be returning to anytime soon.

We had a meal yesterday at 2:30pm. We choose the Sunday roast. The food was outstanding and the service from the staff was some of the best that I have ever experienced. We will definitely come again.

We booked a table for 7 of us, had Sunday lunch and watched the football. The food was lovely, a good variety for us. Very attentive staff who offered very good service.

Friendly traditional pub with an awesome charity juke box. Unusual (to me) selection of fine well kept ales. When you have donated enough, the free music playlist options are there. I shall return, a fifty mile or so round trip properly worth it.

Best pub in Berkhamsted, seats by the canal, parking, superb undercover and open deck area and superb food. Great pub and great staff, give it a try. So many good beers and such an authentic good pub vibe.

Lovely service, very friendly staff. We ordered roast turkey and fish and chips with peas. The meat and vegetables was lovely I’ll only work on the gravy and make it more simple and natural as you could taste it the “ready gravy granules”.

Super friendly and helpful staff who made us feel welcome. After our time slot finished they were accommodating, for a relatively large group, and made sure we had a table(s) to move to. Great selection of beers and wines and brilliant food (try the battered Gurkhins). Couldn't recommend more.

By far the best pub in berko, been to all of them plenty of times, and the food is amazing! The staff are always friendly and great, Mark's always accommodating even when they're busy.
