Took my Mum for Sunday lunch. We waited 45 minutes for food but it was very busy . I had the beef which was delicious . Unfortunately my Mum had the lamb which was not . It was tough and inedible which was disappointing. However , very friendly staff who were apologetic and they did not charge me for the lamb . I would definitely go again but sadly my Mum won’t 😔.

This place is simply superb. We started with some green olives and padron peppers. The green peppers had been blackened and peeled and liberally dusted with flaky sea salt. They were still hot from the grill and were delicious. We follwed this up with two of the small plates. The flat iron steak came in a bowl, cut up on top of beef fat chips and swimming in a fantastic mushroom and cream sauce with crispy deep fried garlic on top. The devilled kidneys were cooked perfectly, still slightly pink, on top of a piece of sour dough. The cayenne carried a proper kick and it was garnished with watercress. The attention to detail, and quality of the cooking were top notch. A lot of pub food these days seems to be very generic, but there is real thought and invention going on here. Finally, it was incredibly reasonably priced - the bill came in at 50 quid including three beers. I am really lucky as I live in walking distance from this place, but would recommend coming from much further away! If you don't know Much Hadham it is one of the pretiest villages in Hertfordshire, having beautiful old buildings, a delightful little museum and tens of lovely footpaths to go walking. The pub itself is a gorgeous old building with a large beer garden.

We passed by and hoped they had a table for lunch, must say staff were very friendly and we were able to get a table. We were disappointed by the small menu, we both chose ham egg and chips, sadly the eggs were not runny, in fact hard, generous portion of good ham and nice chunky chips. Glad we popped in, hope the eggs improve in future

If passing you may consider this is your typical local, however don't be fooled as the menu and food is a wonderful surprise and this chef certainly knows his trade very well. Following a conversation, we were not surprised at the Chefs pedigree and earlier years experience in some well respected kitchens. Keep up the passion, you clearly enjoy preparing the food you are serving. Paul and Emma

We visited The Bull at the end of a walk in the local area and chose dishes from the weekday lunchtime menu (two courses for £13.95). It was excellent value and the food was absolutely delicious. The onion and apple soup with toasted sourdough was just what we needed after a long walk. We all had different mains and all the dishes were perfectly cooked and really tasty - tender lamb, spicy butterfly prawns and a really creamy macaroni cheese. Friendly and efficient service too. We’re looking forward to a return visit!

Pub set in a nice village with garden seating a small courtyard and small car park. First impression of bar area it looks tired and needs a refresh. Seated quickly drinks order taken and quickly delivered good selection of beer. Limited Sunday menu but ok, very few starters. All meals arrived in a reasonable time. These included roasts of lamb, beef and vegetable pithivier. All served with roast potatoes, Yorkshire’s, red cabbage, peas. Cauliflower cheese, and carrots. Angus burger with chips some mixed olives. All well presented and tasted nice . Pub became busy. Plates taken we then discussed deserts but not shown a menu. Would return may be in the week hopeful more choice on menu. Another property that does not comment on reviews so let’s hope they read it and take note. The web page poor and could do with an up date.

An impromptu stop in after a walk in the local area. The pub is stunning. A really old building with tonnes of character. Felt warm on a windy day and the fire wasn’t even lit. The staff were all lovely, smiley and chatty, couldn’t have felt more at home. We ordered a couple of plates of tapas which all came out delicious. A small mix up with the order but we were given some free hot chocolates before we left which was completely unnecessary but reminded us that there are places that care about customer services still. Thank you. We will be back very soon!

I am a regular at this pub due to my fiancés family living in Much Hadham. It has been through a few owners the last few years but it has really seemed to be settling with Alex at the helm and Hayley managing the pub. Last week the new chief started and has started doing a tapas menu and the food is clearly a step up in quality. Great variety on the menu and tastes. The chicken wings were superb. We also tried the roast yesterday and it was very tasty. Will be back very soon to try out the other dishes on the menu

My family have been coming to this pub for years we decided to visit for a pub lunch as it was a nice day. We’ve not been for a while but the food has always been very nice, we ordered sandwiches which come with chips and salad. The food came out and to be honest id of enjoyed a Tesco meal deal better. The bread was the thinnest and cheapest kind and they kindly served us 7 tiny chips on the side, Iv seen bigger kids meals. The staff were polite and cheerful enough but not good enough service for a country pub. This pub is obviously on the skids as have flyers asking people to save it….with the crap I was served today Im happy to see the back of it!

The Bull is halfway between my daughter and me so we thought it would be a nice opportunity to experiment and possibly make it a weekly lunch. She has 3 very small children, including 1 year old twins. I am acutely aware of how disruptive children can be so rang to see if there was anywhere we could go which would not upset other clients. Whoever I spoke to was very accommodating and when I arrived we were seated in an area away from the main bar which was ideal.

I ate here as part of a small party having Sunday lunch. My roast beef was unusually presented as a pile - Yorkshire Pudding on top of a slab of beef on top of spuds & sprouts. All were reasonably cooked though the beef could have benefited from two thinner slices than one think as it was notably chewy. The issue though was it took ages to order and even longer to come. it was however very reasonably priced.

Myself and 2 work colleagues went to the bull for lunch today. I ordered a jacket potato with chilli and cheese from a young waitress who I don’t think can speak or smile.when it came the potato was extremely small and had definitely seen better days. The amount of chilli on it didn’t even cover the potato and was obviously made with cheap frozen mince. I would say a small desert spoonful. I called the waitress over and politely said that I thought the chef had been a little tight with the chilli. She didn’t speak just went away and returned shortly with a small bowl of chilli. There was no apology or even a smile. I ate the meal because I was hungry and had limited time before returning to work.

We had some friends for the weekend and had visited the Bull many times in the past, thought we would try it again now under new ownership. The atmosphere was lovely and the new layout well thought out and welcoming. Found the staff including the young waitress to be very welcoming and the service friendly and personal, what we would expect of a local village pub. I had the roast Chicken, and can honestly say it was the best Sunday Roast I've had for a long time, potatoes were superb, gravy tasty and chicken beautifully cooked. There were 6 of us and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meal. All the starters and main courses were very good, clean plates all round! Only suggestion would may be to serve the veggies separately so that the table can help themselves. Having read some of the other reviews I would suggest if you are looking for 5 star gourmet lunch, try a top restaurant, if you want a friendly atmosphere with well cooked pub food then you can't go wrong here. We will definitely be back!

Was excited to have Sunday lunch at the newly opened Bull. We often have Sunday lunch out with friends, and we were hopeful that this would become another favourite. And yet we were so disappointed at the offering. Served by a young waitress, who seemed unsure what she was doing there. The food was below average - poor quality meat, uninspired vegetables and yet another bad pub roast potato. And a new landlady who sat in the separate empty dining room on her phone for the whole time - not a moment of effort invested in speaking to those spending money in her pub, despite it being pretty obvious that we were her prime locals market. We are fed up with spending hard-earned money on average food and ambivalent staff - it’ll be a while before we give this pub another go.

7 of us visited The Bull for Christmas Dinner. As always, the food was great. Portions were plentiful. It seemed that management had planned very well. It seemed that the table seating times were slightly staggered so that each table was being served at slightly different times. There was a very nice atmosphere and though the pub was very busy the governor made time to visit each table briefly several times. There was plenty of choice on the menu which we pre ordered from. We did not feel rushed and service was spot on. Our meal took just over 3 hours. We had a soup aperitif, choice of starters. I went for the really great salmon & Crayfish parcels. I had Salmon for main, which was excellent. Others in out group had Turkey, Steak and Pork, all were pleased with their choices, I enjoyed my dessert of Christmas Pudding and mince pie but was eyeing up the sticky toffee pudding. Dessert was followed by cheese & biscuits, tea and coffee. We had Christmas Dinner at Hanbury Manor last year. The food was far better and cheaper at the Bull. The staff were working so hard but remained friendly and helpful throughout. We will be booking again next year.

The dessert menu wad brought to the table, and we waited and waited at least 30 minutes for waitress to return to take the orders. Desserts served promptly, very nice. We were never asked if we would like more drinks. We were asked if the food was ok when we'd finished. We had to go to the bar to ask for the bill. This is not a cheap establishment, we expected better service. So all in all it was just ok.

Had an excellent lunch at The Bull on Sunday. Good choice on the menu, not just focused on roasts as some pubs do. However I did choose a roast and had a delicious roast beef, and the others in my party had dressed crab and fish. Good starters and desserts too, what's not to like. Second time we've been here and we'll definitely go again!

Hadn't been for a few years (nothing bad...had just forgotten about it), and returned for lunch today. Still great food, good service and a lovely location. Thoroughly recommended!

Went for Sunday lunch. My husband wanted fish and chips.... lol... they did it for him and he said it was the best fish he had had for ages. The batter was very light. My husband usually leaves all the batter and picks the fish out of the middle. Because the batter was so very, very light, he ate the lot! I had a prawn starter, it was beautifully cooked. I had the pan fried sea bass for the main, and it was cooked perfectly... lovely and crisp on the bottom, not greasy, fish was moist. There were 3 of us... we all enjoyed everything. Really nice seating area at back of pub... fully enclosed, a real sun trap. Can't wait to go again.

The club sandwich is fantastic! We came in after a walk just when the kitchen closed, but the friendly staff still allowed us to order. Certainly a place to visit after a walk!

Had a wonderful couple of lunches with our kids and family here over Christmas and New Year. always busy so make sure to book, the landlord was very helpful in squeezing us in when we hadn't. Great menu Steak and Kidney was a triumph and the desserts are fab. Child friendly, deserves its good reputation.

The Bull in Much Hadham was buzzing on Christmas Day. We were treated to the finest roast turkey with all the trimmings and much more. The service was second to none and we could hardly move from our table once we had finished eating and drinking.

We walked from Perry Green and had a lovely lunch: great service despite the staff being run off their feet (well done guys). I would definitely return.

Enjoyed one of the best meals for ages on Saturday when called in for lunch. Our friendly waitress endorsed my choice of pork belly and it was outstanding. Beautifully cooked and presented it was one of the nicest meals I've had in a long time and I'm lucky enough to have the many foodie options in Bristol nearby. My wife's sausage and mash was also very tasty. Lovely sticky toffee pudding to finish rounded off a really nice meal - we'll be back for more fairly soon!

Wife and I are from Boston Massachusetts. We were visiting our great friends from the UK. One night for dinner we went to The Bull. What a great place for having a pint or six. Good food and a great time. Got a table next to the fireplace. Very good staff. We will definitely be back.

Food is ok, but strikes you as more a drinkers pub for locals. Don't sit on anyone's designated barstool!

A much improved visit the food was faultless and although there was a little wait an apology was offered due to persons all ordering at the same time.

Although my previous visit was some while ago, this beautifully-maintained venue has not changed. The environment, the service, and the food on my recent visit was as good as ever.

Picked Rosey Lea because it has kerb appeal and there was a pretty terrace to enjoy the last of the summer. Had a simple lunch of baked potato and a glass of wine which came to £17.45. The spud was OK and came with a decent amount of salad. However, for that money I want a big, fluffy and really hot potato where the cheese is happily melting in to the mix. The one I had was warmish and smallish. Service was friendly but on the slow side.

This little Gem is one I can’t do justice to in a review… the food, service and atmosphere is off the scale and has raised the bar for me as far as pubs go… I was raised in a pub so my standards are high and it’s been my go to for the past 5 years. There is nothing that comes close to this little country boozer … consistently fabulous… never a disappointment and their staff are outstanding. I sadly refuse to go anywhere else now… HIGHLY RECOMMEND ❤️❤️
