The Bull in Brentwood

Having been to The Bull 8-9 times now, the food is always outstanding. Could order anything on the menu with confidence that I will love it, and this is without mentioning the service. Have been served by Amanda and Cosmin on multiple occasions now and their constant energy is so refreshing and always adds to the experience. This is the kind of place that you leave, counting down the days until your next visit. Cant wait to come back!

Came in with work friends for a meal, was given an excellent specials menu and had the chicken supreme. Food was amazing and so was the service. Hannah made sure we had drinks to order, she was great. Would recommend this pub and will definitely be returning!!

Caesar salad with soggy bacon, old crumbled inedible Parmesan & thick gloppy out of a bottle disgusting dressing. Overpriced mediocre food, plus awful service won’t be returning.

Had a really lovely evening at The Bull. Food fantastic, huge portions beautifully cooked and presented. Service was excellent, Amanda and Holly were really friendly and attentive, made our birthday lady feel special and us all comfortable and welcome. Really excellent service , thank you.

Our go to place for family and friends Sunday lunch. Food is great, always a good atmosphere and service spot on. Thanks to Hannah and Amanda for looking after us on this visit, allowing us to bring our own cake, doing the whole "Happy Birthday" thing and Dad's baby Guinness shot!

We arrived for drinks at 7.30pm table booked for 8pm. We were told there was a singer on and that she was really good so we switched tables from the restaurant to the bar area to see this. The singer did not turn up, no explanation We had to go and ask for menus and were eating our mains at 8.45pm and a member of staff asked if we wanted coffee as the machine was being switched off! At 9.15pm there were more staff than customers! We were home by 9.30pm, not good at all Food was not bad at all, but £6.20 for a 0% Guiness is very greedy indeed

Stopped in our motorhome unexpectedly at 20.30 in much need of dinner and refreshment. Another pub stopover had let us down and as we approached the motorway luckily detoured through Brentwood The landlord not only got a table ready for us as kitchen was due to close but also happily said we could park in the car park overnight. Would thoroughly recommend the Bull for food, location, service, and friendliness. Will definitely return.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Bull in Brentwood, and it was an outstanding experience. The roast dinner was absolutely delicious, with the pork belly being a true highlight—perfectly cooked, tender, and flavorful. What really made our visit special was the exceptional service. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. The combination of amazing food and top-notch service made for a wonderful meal. I’ll definitely be returning soon!

Disappointing roast, undercooked veg, three potato’s undercooked, bland and dried out cauliflower cheese! Wouldn’t waste your money!

This visit was made the best by the faultless food and our waitress Ash Nothing was too much trouble. One of the best waitresses i have had. Big family table but the service/food was brilliant

Fantastic little place. There was 12 of us and the staff couldn’t do enough for us, they were so lovely. And the food was amazing! Cooked beautifully, steaming hot and great portions. Drinks are decent prices too. And the locals in there were so friendly.

Went there for lunch today with our very good friends . Had a fabulous lunch but what made our lunch even better was our lovely waitress Stacey . She made us feel relax she was funny and kind . Colin Clark

Excellent food and service by Amanda and Mollie.The menu was extensive and the portions generous. The extra gravy for the Yorkshireman was a bonus!

Terrible experience, from the moment we stepped through the door the service was non-existent. All of the food was over cooked & we were only served with one drink throughout the whole meal. Disappointing visit, we will not be returning anytime soon and would not recommend.

Love this restaurant as the food is always good and the secret garden is a nice touch for children. Booked for my family to go on my birthday. Was seated outside next to a heater, which was nice but realized quickly that this didn't work! After waiting for 15 minutes and going to speak to one of the staff I was told the wait for food was about 3 hours!! (Could have told me that when I entered) With 2 hungry children and on my birthday, I was left with no option to leave and drive around to try find somewhere else to eat! Really disappointing birthday!

Recommend The Bull food lovely staff friendly especially Stacey Lillie and Amanda. Many of our work colleagues from Ford told us about The Bull and they were right

We visited The Bull yesterday. What a fabulous atmosphere! We were seated in the bar area straight away and offered drinks whilst we looked at the menu. We ordered the mixed meat and lamb roast dinners. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The service was top notch! Two young ladies served us, they were professional, friendly and attentive, this goes along way in making our visit such a memorable one. Well done to Lille and Isabelle you did your boss proud. (Apologies ladies if I got the spelling of your names wrong!) We will definitely be returning as the outside space looks amazing too. We highly recommend The Bull.

I had a fantastic lunch with my friend and I come here every Tuesday. The food, staff are amazing especially the wonderful Amanda and her team really make a difference. I would definitely recommend The Bull.

Visited the bull this evening Will (who I believe is new to the bull) did a great job also lovely food and setting and thanks for not having oats on the crumble -it was lovely to be able to enjoy one of my favourite desserts

Following a recommendation last year, yesterday was about our 5th revisit to the Bull and the service (thank you Stacey), the quality and choice of food was, as always, outstanding. With one coeliac and another with a severe nut allergy in our party, both were catered for professionally and safely. We couldn’t ask for more.

Have visited several times as the food is always excellent but our waitress (she always seems to serve us) never ever gets the order 100% correct! She spends so much time talking and not listening!! Nice enough person but improve your service as you are a waitress and that's the crux of your role!!

Mainly a popular food pub, however, we had a great pint of Timothy Taylor's Landlord bitter, served brilliantly by Amanda. It was early Sunday evening and she supplied some wonderful home roasted potatoes 'on the house' to compliment the beer. Thanks. Lovely surprise!

Amanda has been an amazing host. She couldn’t do enough for us. I don’t normally write reviews but she went above and beyond with our service. We visited for our anniversary and she made it very special.

My family and I came here for Mother's Day lunch. We were with my nephew, who is 3 years old. They were hugely accommodating to us, firstly by fitting us in between sittings and then by moving us from the outside heated area to inside when a space became available. Our servers, Holly and Cosmin, went out of their way to ensure our comfort. They were also really helpful in keeping my nephew entertained. I also have coeliac disease and every item on the menu could be made gluten free. I really appreciate this and can't wait to come back again. It's nice having good options for food!

The bull in brentwood is a great pub all round, the food is gorgous & dose Gluten Free The staff are so friendly & very helpfull, Amanda, Cosmin & Chloe are so helpful & friendly, one of my favourite place's to eat.

The food was fantastic, a superb roast dinner with all the trimmings and the wonderful service by Amanda , and her team Danny and Holly made it a brilliant Mothers Day meal. I would high recommend you pay them a visit.

Another wonderful family dinner out for Mother’s Day served by the the amazing Amanda, Chloe and Cosmin. Food and drinks exceed all expectations and the bonus is we can bring our needy fur baby.

Had a lovely lunch here to celebrate my wife’s 60th birthday the staff are amazing polite and very friendly and couldn’t do enough for us a really credit to the place thanks to all the staff and to Amanda for organising such a lovely meal for us and to Abbie for her fantastic service.

Excellent for gluten free options and great care was taken over our friend who was in a wheelchair. Only downside was the group of very loud diners seated 2 tables away. We had recommended The Bull to the couple with us but, they did not enjoy the experience. Conversation at our table was a struggle and they have no desire to return.

We stayed at the bulls twice. The dinner was perfect. But the service has been amazing thanks to Amanda and Cosmin fa . I really had a lot of fun coming along with the delicious dinner.

Lovely place, great food and excellent choice for gluten free customers. Went there for a birthday treat and was really looked after by Amanda and Cosmin, who even came and sang Happy Birthday! Highly recommend 😊

The service was excellent, we were not hurried and the waitress made knowledgeable suggestions when necessary. We had an excellent meal in pleasant surroundings with friendly staff.

Food was lovely, more expensive than would normally pay for a roast dinner & dessert but very nice. Dessert could have been a bit bigger but we thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Service was quick and waitresses smiling and friendly. Will definitely return

it was very noisy and the reception lady seemed very stressed out and she did not smile at all when we came in. the service lady who served us was very friendly and helpful. the noise level was off the scales and it seemed everyone was shooting at their tables. i have booked a table for March so I am hoping it will improve.

The staff were friendly, helpful and ensured our dining experience was splendid. The food is delicious, and the portions are a good amount. I’d highly recommend the Bull.

We were a table of 9 for lunch. Two of our party were quite badly delayed and our waitress could absolutely not have been any more patient and amenable. Not hassling us to order, telling us not to worry and keeping up to date with our drinks. It really was noticeable how good the staff were and I had the fish and chips which was really lovely. This was my first visit and will not be my last. I do wish I had taken the waitresses name to thank her properly.

We had a lovely waitress, really attentive without being overpowering. Once she knew I was a coeliac and would be making gluten free choices, she went out of her way to advise. The restaurant was busy, but we felt completely looked after. Food was very tasty and served promptly. Met friends who were coming from different directions. Plenty of parking.

We went for Sunday lunch. We had The roast beef and chicken. Both were excellent, served with lots of fresh vegetables, a giant Yorkshire pudding and plenty of gravy. The portions were a good size. (There is also an option to upgrade with more meat). We had standard size and it was plenty. We managed to have a dessert of apple crumble and custard. All was nice and hot and home cooked. I would definitely come again and recommend. But you will need to book as it’s busy.

Disappointed with the lack of gluten free bread as restaurant was told one of us was gluten free before hand. That was the main reason for booking as last time was impressed with the gluten free options

It is a lovely place to dine. Ambience is lovely. Food is gorgeous, amazing choice of dishes on menu. Service is attentive but unhurried, made to feel very welcome.

Lovely pub - shame about the service and food. As we come in our waitress was sitting with another table, unsure if this was to do with the male presence at that table. When ordering food she was blunt as if we were interrupting her from the other table. Starters were nice but the pie for main was so hard and dry you could've built a house out of it. All of the waitresses seem to have better things to do like stand at the bar area talking to each other rather than making sure their guests were ok or needed anything.

Lovely meal for mother in laws 80th birthday, she got a birthday card, and ice cream with a candle in it. Staff very polite and friendly, though need to listen more when taking drink orders. I ordered a bacardi and coke, got bacardi and lemonade. 2nd drink i ordered bacardi and coke, no ice or lemon..got both. Other than that, faultless.x

Great meal for two, food excellent standard and value as always. The team at the Bull are always friendly and polite - we didn't stop long after our meal as there was a group of six very loud lads and we couldn't hear each other speak. I would highly recommend.

We have visited the Bull several times now and are never disappointed. The food is always amazing and the staff are super friendly, helpful and can never do enough for you. We were there to celebrate a birthday and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you guys for making this a special night.

As it was New Year's eve, very busy, excellent service, lovely food, large groups of people with children, all well behaved and enjoying themselves. A lovely place for a families, couples or friends; we really enjoyed a great time. Emma and Ash were really helpful.
