The Bucket List in North Norfolk

Gone downhill. Had chip buckets a few times over the years but the last one we had at Aylsham lights was just a huge disappointment. £28 for 4 people you would expect quality produce. Only difference between kids cheesy chips and adult one was seemingly a bit of parsley on top, but a price difference of whopping £4. Cheese not melted, just pre-grated flavourless cheese dumped on the top of frozen chips. I had the winter warmer and the sausage tasted undercooked and I had a stomach ache for the rest of the evening. Overpriced, overmarketed, doesn't look anything like the photos on social media. Customer service wasn't great either, grumpy faces, no smiles.

Went here on a whim, fancied some grub. And boy am I glad we did. Thought the prices were a bit much when we ordered them got the food.. mate did that do the job. I recommend at least once you won’t be disappointed.

Marketing is fabulous, it is essentially frozen chips double fried making them greasy! I had sweet chilli sauce a bit of grated cheddar and aioli and it was £8.50…. Totally overrated, the gent serving looks like he hated his life choices! 🤣 sat heavy and would never go back, the sauces are not homemade!! So like i said the marketing of this establishment is amaze, the food def does not match up !

Expensive food for what it is it my son enjoyed it and polished off the whole lot. Every time we came past last year there was a long que but no waiting this year so we gave it a go.

Food was fine, but the surly bloke taking the orders was enough to put me off going again. What a grumpy way to treat paying customers! Eye rolling, incomprehensible grunts. Don't think they actually want your custom.

Cromer shop only. Every time I visit Cromer we get a bucket of these lovely chips with topping. They are really good chips, topping is very good and generous and friendly staff. Can get busy but queue seems organised and they were always decent speed and wait when I visited. I’ve seen lots of negative reviews for the over strand town shop and will not try that one now. But looking forward to next visit to Cromer shop and will update here if an issue.

We went to the event Dinos at night last night, brought chips from the Bucket List £21 for 3 cheesy chips and 2 kids chips. When ordering the chips we where not told how long the wait was, after nearly an hour I asked how much longer they would be and was told 5 minutes at most, a lady 2 behind me was told 20 minutes. We ended up waiting nearly an extra 15 more minutes. When we did finally get them they were so over cooked, and hardly had any cheese on them we all had a few then chucked them in the bin. Whilst queuing people were asking for refunds, one lady commented maybe you should tell your customers how long a wait it will be when ordering as all of our children queued rather than actually played, you only get 4 hours at the event. The person who was frying turned round and bit this ladies head of by saying you where told at the time of ordering about the wait and I can only go as fast as the fryer will go. Not one of us in the queue was told how long it was going to take, until after that point, by this point it was obviously too late for all of us. Disgusting chip’s, disgusting customer service, I will not use the Bucket List again due to the customer service, the wait and the fact all you get at the end is over cooked frozen chips with a small topping…literally the small amount of cheese was just on the top of the chips. I wish I had taken photos to show the small amount of cheese and all the chips not covered in cheese to add to this review but honestly just wanted to make the most of the rest of the evening.

Very disappointed that a vendor that is all about chips uses bags of frozen chips. The topping was very tasty but then I had a lot of chips underneath with nothing on and they are not the best tasting chips without all the fancy stuff on top. Quite bland. Portion size was good. Price was expensive for frozen chips and some Bolognese topping.

While on holiday with my partner and friends, wondering round Cromer, we all stopped and got some “lunch” from bucket list, with not knowing what to expect, it definitely beat our expectations. I had “hybrid” chip combo and it was out of this world, I will definitely be returning to Cromer just to get these chips! Everyone finished them off and I was very impressed! Good job!

We had chips from bucket list at our local rugby club. But unfortunately so many problems. Cheap rubber cheese more sauce than chips. You would need a spoon to eat. But guess what not even a chip fork. So had to eat with fingers. Also we ordered our food in good Time before the match we came to watch started and got out chips by the time the second half of the match started. For the price you would thunk you were getting a premium service and product. They really need to sort this out.

Dropped in today. Loved the food. Quick easy ordering and supply. Great tasty food we wolfed down. Highly recommended. Located near the wash and tope pub.

Drove 40 mins to try these and was served cold chips. When I spoke to them they said there was nothing wrong with them, they were fine, and there was nothing he’d do about it. Terrible customer service and would never go there again

There was quick service despite having a longish line and tasted absolutely amazing! Very filling and the topping were great too.

We went to Cromer and came across the bucket list. We ordered 2 of the chips with toppings they were £9.50 each. When they came out of the window they looked nice however when you get under the toppings you are greeted with frozen chips !! It said homemade chips which to me is not frozen. £19 for frozen chips I’m surprised they get away with this. Will not go again.

Bought chips today at Marham village & waited 40 mins to get them!! Crazy! The van that was there today looks tired & dated! It needs some TLC. Today the fryers weren't working & kept cutting out. I went for the special which was £9. To be honest it was nothing special & quite expensive for what it was.Cheap frozen chips just drowned in cheap sauces! It's a shame that they don't use fresh homemade chips but probably more of a mark up using cheap frozen ones. They really need to think about a better take away option container, especially if you have to leave it on the floor of your car & it is uncovered. Staff were polite & said sorry for the wait but after waiting around for so long, the excitement of eating them wore off! I won't be eating them again. A big disappointment!

We love the chip buckets at Cromer. We come here especially for it! We have tried several different toppings as the menus change regularly which is a nice change! Plenty of food me and my partner sometimes just share one between us

We often find the Bucket List at Overstrand beach and indulge after a dip in the sea, they are SO good! I think we've tried most of the choices by now! They aren't the cheapest chips you'll ever have but quite frankly it's totally worth it when your coming back from a beach trip and fancy something quick but really tasty. The service is really good as well, always really friendly.

My in-laws have a cottage in The Londs in Overstrand and told us about The Bucket List a few years ago. Since then, whenever we’re in Overstrand we make sure we always have a bucket of chips. Or three.... This year, as usual, the chips were delicious. The Nacho Bucket with lamb chilli was a absolutely Devine!! A few days later we had a Dirty Canary. Again, delicious. We’re here for a few more days and no doubt will probably enjoy another delicious concoction. My 15 year old daughter is always checking out the Facebook page to see what’s available, even when we’re back home in Northampton. The first thing we do when we get here is grab our chips. It starts off our holiday. If you want something different from them norm’ check out The Bucket list. You won’t be disappointed!5 massive stars as usual!!

Really colourful. Really tasty.Now I know someone put better last year. But after everything that's gone on you can forgive them for having a limited menu. Kids portion is a cracking size to. Visited in cromer early evening, no sweetchilli, so buckets with that on were out...no mince beef sauces on , so really chips with a few toppings doesn't merit the cost in my view.. not substantial enough ...staff lovely , great idea but bring back the bolognese etc or pulled pork or other meaty toppings and get the chilli sorted .... And childrens buckets would really benefit from a dollop of ketchup- last year's buckets were better!

Absolute cracker - we had aioli, sweet chilli & smoked cheddar/ bbq, aioli & mozzarella / plain - all superb personal favourite was the sweet chilli but all were fantastic - highly recommend.

I stumbled across this place just as someone with a metal detector stumbles across a rare and precious artefact on a sandy beach, as the waves crash upon the shore of a hazy and mild summer evening, as the sun sets and reflects warm yellows and oranges off the water like glass or a mirror would. I didn’t have this place on my buck list, but they were added and then crossed off. They offer a steady selection of chips with various toppings and a changing special. I had the special, which was garlic chicken, with cheddar cream, bacon, chicken gravy and a Brocken pie lid! The dish comes in a fair sized er...bucket and you get a decent portion tbf. It tasted good, was full of flavours and filled an ever impossible void that is my stomach, just for a while. A bit pricey for what it was at £7.50...but it’s no deal breaker by any means. The queue was borderline lengthy but worth the wait. if your passing, stumble on over just like me and my bunions did.

We went to Cromer today for my daughter birthday, first trip out since all the Covid. We had lunch at the bucket list, fantastic food and worth the trip. They have put procedures in place for Covid so felt safe and enjoyed the fab food.

Most amazing chips I’ve ever had. Were really good with allergens and knew what they were talking about. Would definitely recommend and go again.

We went to the bucket list after months of talking about it with some friends of ours to experience the hype. Having worked in hospitality for 15 years ... the price really didn’t bother us, we appreciate and very much understand people have to make a good profit and it’s not just about chips and a bowl, but the time it takes, The staff that are employed and much much more. However I must say we were slightly saddened that there was only 4 topping choices on the menu. My partner doesn’t like bbq sauce and only 1 topping didn’t have bbq sauce with it. Granted the lovely friendly chap behind the counter said she could have whatever she liked on her chips which was great but we were expecting much more choice given the extent of toppings on the Facebook page. I must admit I had the smoked cheese and sweetchilli bowl and Upon it’s arrival i said ‘it’s just cheesy chips with sweetchilli sauce’. And that is true. It’s just normal chips with sauce or chicken nuggets on top. Great idea, but it is all a little overrated. I wouldn’t avoid the place but I definitely wouldn’t drive out of my way to go again.

Went on a recommendation. Small menu but the meal is complex with different toppings and sauces. Great attention to detail and we decided to walk to the beach to the beach and despite being piled high the dish was secure. Shame it was frozen chips because they were a little greasy, but did enjoy the concept.

Visited this takeaway late afternoon on a Sunday and was disappointed to find they had sold out of their Sunday roast bucket, but they had been extremely busy earlier. Nevertheless we tried the pulled pork bucket. Accompanied by excellent fries, coleslaw and cheese it was very tasty and good value for money at £7.50. Worth a visit if you are in the area.

We visited the bucket list Cromer take away shop and we were very disappointed after so much hype about it. We’re a family of four and at £7.50 a head u got a bowl of chips with 6 tiny chicken bites & a few bits of bacon on the top. Could have got a better meal with somewhere to sit for a few quid more. I was so excited to try the bucket list.I was pleased when I found out they were at an open day at a friend's child's school.Unfortunately at the pop up stand there were very limited options, satay chicken, BBQ, sweet chilli or plain.I opted for the BBQ which was chips, BBQ sauce, cheese and garlic mayo. this was priced at £5.50.There was a long wait so I'm assuming that the chips are cooked fresh and then there was time applying the condiments. When the bucket arrived they were presented very nicely.Good points- sauces were very flavoursome, arranged nicely in the bucketBad points: the chips were just frozen(?) Fries... I was expecting handcut skin on chunky chips. If I'm honest, the quality of the condiments were lost on the poor chip, I've had better from my local kebab shop!I think the price is down to the hype and the Instagram appeal of the concept rather than the actual quality of the product. Maybe I will try the bucket list again when they are at one of their usual spots and have a full menu available. The toppings with brie and nuggets sound a lot more appealing and value for money rather than the cheesy BBQ chips I got

We had the bucket list chips at overstrand. It's a great idea but very expensive and a long wait. The kids had chips and cheese. We had chilli and cheese and aioli. Tasty but all together very pricey. I asked if I could have the macaroni without the meat topping as I'm a veggie. The answer was no as it gets too confusing to make. Never mind. The chilli and cheese was delicious. The kids all enjoyed theirs.

I think it's a good idea but the toppings vary. Most well received but I had simple mayonnaise type topping at their van in Overside and that was a bit lacking in quantity. The others had other toppings at the shop in Cromer and they were more generous and better appreciated.

We ordered 3 of the sweet chilli, one lamb curry and a plain with cheese. Was charged a shocking £28.50. To say we are disappointed is an understatement. We drove especially to Overstrand for our buckets and should have known better when we saw a woman throwing TWO full buckets straight into the bin. The overall quality of the chips were very poor, mainly only the small scrap type of chips. None of us could even finish them. Waste of money

A great idea but sadly we were most unimpressed - two plain buckets of chips and one with cheese took 50 minutes from order to service - no forks - and not cheap. One of the lads stood looking at his iPhone, constant complaints about how busy they'd been - I can't believe most people are happy to wait 50 minutes! `No chilli sauce left - doesn't really seem set up to fulfil service - and chips with different toppings shouldn't be that tricky - won't be rushing back.

4 buckets of chips for £17 night not sound great but they are buckets, not just normal portions of chips

I have been meaning to check out these guys for ages and finally got round to it when they did the street food at the local pub. This happens every Monday with different stalls - it's a winner. As were these chips. We God adult ones topping with chilli lamb which was lovely, if a tiny bit sweet. The kids got cheesy chips which could probably feed an adult. Even though it doesn't look huge when you get it, those buckets are deep! Loved it, as did the kids

Really friendly staff and lovely fresh ingredients. Yes it is quite expensive but a tub was enough for 2 of us to share. Good choice of options with something for everyone, would definitely recommend.

Against my better judgement I thought I would give The Bucket List a try.

Overall very good quality-no complaints about the freshness and taste but just not sure we would go out of our way to have again. The reason for this is down to price..£7.50 per bucket seemed a bit much considering the quantity of topping given in each but glad we tried them as have heard nothing but good things but cost has put me off returning I’m afraid! Sorry guys! Fantastic place and was very busy, lovely and fresh food but probably won’t see us again.

We had never heard of this before until friends of ours came to visit us whilst we were camping in the area. Well we just had to check it out and so glad we did. Menu isn't huge but what they do serve is fresh, tasty and delicious. A meat choice and a vegetarian choice. The curry we had was AMAZING. So good we went back again and tried another dish later in the week. It was located at the top of the cliff in the car park - convenient to have lunch after hanging out on the beach in the morning. Worth a try for sure.

We used the bucket list in Overstrand Car park the. It was closed then i read it had opened in a shop in Cromer we found it yesterday and it was delicious i highly recommend you try it

Definitely the best crispy chips in Cromer, they're always cooked fresh to order and never disappoint. I just wish they had more vegan options, vegan mayo/cheese would keep me coming back for more!

Well thought the buckets where on the bit expensive side till we tried one .... husband stated it was the best thing he’d ever spent his money on , it was that good and it was! we had the cheese fondue with bbq and onion bits and it was amazing ! We also tried the chicken curry with picked cucumber

We visited the (relatively) new shop in Cromer on a drizzly September Tuesday. We'd been for a walk at Overstrand Beach and, having seen the reviews of The Bucket List trailer at Overstrand (now closed because out of season) made the trip into Cromer to see what it was all about. We weren't disappointed: twice cooked chips, layered with that day's special: a delicately flavoured lamb chilli with homemade dressings - just perfect!

Greasy and flavourless nacho bucket, really disappointing.

Wife and I headed to the beach for the day and were recommended this place by a friend.

Obviously to save money they have the veg oil not beef dripping no where near hot enough so chips are soggy oil soaked, truly dreadful. Chap put frozen chips in frying basket then in oil, absolutely no fizzle whatsoever!!! Then got the other basket out of cool oil with oil soaked chips. Extremely disappointing after it was recommended. Topping fatty with oily chips, truly disgusting.

We visit more often than we should, as it is only ten minutes up the road. The food is always freshly cooked, and the menu changes everyday.....its all scrumptious!!! Brought MIL last week, and she hasn’t stopped talking about the ‘chips in the carpark!’

Well I've been following the bucket list since last year and always say I would love to give this place a go. Well finally had a spare couple of hours and thought tonight's the night I'm going to overstrand and going to find the bucket list.

We'd heard about these 'posh chips' and decided to investigate Sunday afternoon. It was very busy in Overstrand car park and we had to wait for our order while it was cooked. Lovely crispy chips with interesting toppings, I had the chicken gravy with cheese and bacon - delicious. The other options were garlic mushrooms or crumbled burger, you can also get plain chips.

Sunday lunch will never be the same. We visited Overstrand and wondered what to do for lunch when we found the Bucket List. What a delight. Nathan the owner is a genius producing got tasty and filling meals in a bucket. A brilliant idea. We left Overstrand full and happy.
