Great place for a camper stopover. Great atmosphere, delicious, well priced meals and friendly, helpful staff. Highly recommend it.

Been my local for 40 years. Can get a bit rowdy at times these days but never any trouble. Service is usually good and the prices are reasonable. Not eaten in here for a while but have eaten on many occasions and the food is always pretty good without being outstanding. I have never had a bad meal. It’s a locals pub, with most people knowing each other and that makes for a good atmosphere.

Went to the Buck with my friend last friday for lunch and can honestly say it was the worst pub lunch we've ever had in our life. We ordered a cottage pie and their special of beef stew, when it arrived the new potatoes served with the pie were rock hard (like they had never been cooked) and the stew tasted like the chef had dropped a box of pepper in it, it was that peppery it actually burnt your tongue (and my friend eats a lot of spicey food) if this wasnt bad enough the meat was awful, there were some chunks of meat and some thin slices but all of it was fatty with no flavour (it's like the chef had thrown in all the offcuts off any meat in the kitchen. As for the cottage pie, we struggled to find any meat! It was literally 90% potato with a tiny bit of mince at the bottom and had no flavour at all! I wanted to send it all back but my friend felt bad (I've no idea why because it wasn't edible) so we just sent the stew and the rock hard potatoes back and asked if we could pick something different. Im assuming it was the manager that came to our table and said very rudely well no-one else has had a problem with the food (which i found very hard to believe) he asked what we wanted instead so we chose the lasagne, big mistake, we both only had a mouthfull each as it tasted vile, like the meat was off, and unfortunately this was proven as both myself and my friend had a bad stomach the next day. I should have known something wasnt right when there wasnt a single other person eating on a friday lunchtime. I wouldn't step foot in this pub again if you paid me.

Food mediocre, friendly service but smells of cigarettes.

Ordered 2 meals and both were cold. We were the only people in so confused as to why. Other than that nice place

Lovely pub, found recommended by the staff at the premier Inn just down the road, food was lovely and hot. Couldn’t fault staff friendly If visiting Manchester would definitely visit this pub again.

We've just been to a funeral wake at The Buck Inn. The landlord gave us a private area which was kind of him. The food put on was delicious, particularly the profiteroles. They catered very well for both meat eaters and vegetarians. They even provided oat milk which was appreciated. Staff were friendly, helpful and considerate.

We went in for lunch with family, our meals arrived cold, ordered a wrap it came with 7 chips (cold) and no salad. Two people had burgers they were both cold in he middle, sausages were burnt. Need I go on!, ordered nachos with chilli, had to send it back as it was cold!!

Had lunch last Friday Fish very small . Chips 8 in total and rather anaemic and mushy peas which were OK . Needless to say, we will not be returning to The Buck .

Lovely pub, found on the off chance early dinner, food was lovely and hot quality ingredients. Couldn’t fault staff friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. If visiting Manchester we would definitely visit this pub again.

I am only guessing about food,as I didn't have any. But it looked nice and people who were eating. Were enjoying it by looks on there face. Was not there long as I was picking someone up.

Went to watch the football on a Sunday, what a great atmosphere. I ordered some food and had a problem with my order due to my own fault to be honest, I explained to the staff my error and was well accommodated and was sorted without a fuss. Great food, great staff, and great atmosphere, well recommended

Wow what can I say, the Sunday dinner was amazing, the staff so polite and helpful. We had our two young daughters with us, one had the Sunday dinner the other had nuggets, in her word mum these nuggets are better then McDonald’s, must be good as she is very fussy. I would definitely recommend and we will definitely be back, see you next Sunday if you fit us in xxx

Came in for Mothers Day… unfortunately it was a bit of a disaster! Our starters never arrived and then when our main courses were brought out they said they would bring them out… we asked them not to as our mains had already arrived. I ordered turkey roast and my husband had the burger as they had ran out of the beef roast already (it was 4.30pm). Burger was over cooked and dry, the top bun was burnt so they brought a replacement after asking. Turkey tasted like it had been reheated and the entire meal was somewhat congealed like it had been sat under the hot plate too long… the mash was like glue and inedible. The plate wasn’t even as described on the menu, I ended up sending it back and ordered another drink instead. My daughter had fish, chips and peas which was ok but the batter was soggy, again like it had been hanging around. The best but was when she ordered an ice cream with marshmallows and they brought just a bowl of marshmallows 😂. They did bring over a dessert as an apology and we didn’t pay for food that was sent back or not received but pretty disappointing all in all which was a shame. Might have helped if the bar staff/waitesss hadn’t had her air pods in for the entire fiasco…

The pub could do with a touch up here and there especially the gents toilets, that's not to say they were not clean. Nice pub good food, great service visited for an afternoon lunch. 4 diners

I booked on a Tuesday night for my birthday. The Buck Inn was very accommodating, food was great and the kids were looked after.

Lovely pub, great atmosphere and its lovely to see a pub so busy. Car park is pay and display but you get the free parking voucher from the bar. Well worth a visit. Food was good but we forgot to take photos. Recommend this pub :)

Sunday afternoon and my first visit. A little quite for such a large pub, but that was great as me and my partner just went for dinner out. Ordered the steak and didn't expect much. Honest review. The 🥩 was perfectly cooked and a complete surprise from a pub menu. Very pleased. This place is a little far for me to visit more regularly, but I was very impressed with the food

Lovely pub. Food well priced and nothing too much trouble. The chef even came out to discuss one of our party's food allergy. She ended up cooking her something not on the menu to suit her needs. Brilliant. Other places could learn a thing or two from this type of customer service!! See you again real soon.

Very disappointed to get a parking ticket today after my visit to the Buck. After speaking to them they advised I could only speak to Parking eye. I explained I had paid for a meal and drinks but they didn’t care. The meal was poor as well

Sasuages always black as coal, pies are terribly flakey. Waste of money.

A great pub with good pub food and a great selection of drinks. Great staff and a nice atmosphere. Large beer garden and show lots of sports. What’s not to like! If you like an all day breakfast I would definitely recommend it here. Mixed grill is also amazing.

Food arrived an hour and 40 minutes after ordering. (Was told one hour) even though the pub was empty. The main courses arrived just before the starters, all of the food was overcooked and dry whilst also being cold. Very poor service.

Friendly free house in Ashton upon Mersey. Down to earth boozer. Regular selection of beers plus a guest cask and a couples of ciders on when I went. Serves your customary pub grub with bar and lounge. Shows sports and Dog friendly. Outside drinking area with some of it sheltered . Has a carpark. Friendly service. Reasonable prices. 🍺 🏏 ⚽️ 🍎 🍏

This pub is a home from home. I could walk in on my own or with my partner & children and the warm reception from the exceptional staff is what makes the place my absolute fav. Can’t fault it.

My wife & I just had lunch here & although the food was delicious the portions were very small this would be understandable if we ordered from the £6+ lunch menu but we ordered from the main menu so higher price. My wife is only petite & even she left still feeling hungry shame as this has put us off from going back.

The Buck is our local in Ashton on Mersey, a cracking village pub with a good food, friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere which we regularly frequent…..would recommend

Very disappointed. Ate here regularly before the Pandemic but on today's experience this is likely to be my last. Took visitors for lunch...all day breakfasts OK. My gammon looked nothing like the photos.... given knife and then steak knife when I went to bar to say that I couldn't cut the gammon. Still incredibly tough and lots of fat and gristle....so much so left 90% of meal. Cost £10.99...not happy. Having spoken with staff who had given me a steak knife I was surprised that no one came to check meals OK. Got the impression that they were avoiding our table...Pity as local and convenient to pop in to eat but totally put off by today's experience

Food and atmosphere poor, not a dining establishment. Best suited as a pub only! Has old men and dogs dotted around and more old world cup flags than Brinnington. Was a decent hour but nothing special.

Just had the best mixed grill ever here!!! Great value for money. Friendly staff always ready to help. Basically a cracking local.
