Lead Station in Manchester

Booked for a Sunday roast, lovely atmosphere and service (don’t know the names but both had gorgeous curly hair). As a veggie it was amazing to have two choices for a roast, felt the major thing that was lacking was the option for extras. Cauliflower cheese was greatly missed on this occasion and I feel if on the menu many people would order.

Good beer, great atmosphere!! Outstanding service!!

Bank holiday lunch we took the dog she was welcome in the bar area which was good asked about soup when booking in the morning when we arrived at lunchtime the soup was sold out that was disappointing after we rec'd our food ( which was a long wait) we saw another table being served soup which we were told had just come back well we were not given that option personally I thought it was expensive for what we had not sure if we will return as there are plenty of other nice better value food eating places very close to this venue also the man greeting and taking payments used words such as matey darling etc which I don't like

Called in for a drink on the Saturday afternoon, before moving on.

Had a few drinks with friends here on a hit weekend and enjoyed a relaxing social moment. Cool bar on a cool street!

Food was average but very expensive Don't have 10% service automatically, this isn't America.

A very corporate poor customer care establishment....Felt very much like 'take your money and then go away'....I can fully understand why the pub was empty!. It's great to employ assertive youngsters in management positions but sometimes their lack of empathy and life understanding can backfire...this place is definitely off the dining list for the foreseeable future.

Absolutely dreadful...if you want a corporate with no community spirit, this is your place...Much better places on Beech rd

Wonderful relaxing atmosphere amazing staff

Lovely experience throughout. First time here, never knew this place existed however glad I do now! Their breakfasts are amazing and hot( don’t like warm/cold food)! Definitely not here.Clearly freshly made. The place is so bright and welcoming and they have an outside too. The chap who served us was so polite, patient, caring and delivered a great rapport and fantastic service. Sorry did not get his name however he clearly works out at the gym.😘😀🙏

Not visited herr for awhile but nothing has changed still amazing food and atmosphere I had the Salmon fish cake which was so tasty and my partner had the steak dish and my daughter had the Fish and Chips. All dishes were delicious 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾

The food was nice but the portion was tiny. I’ve been to Lead station many times over the years but I was a little disappointed this time. Background music was too loud. I am not a fan of service charged being added to the bill even if it is ‘discretionary’. I will add my own tip if I want to at an amount I choose. Staff were very nice but I shouldn’t have to pay a service charge for this. Isn’t that how they are supposed to be?

Enjoyed my first visit, from the friendly staff, to the lovely reggae music playing and the absolutely delicious vegan cauliflower steak! Top notch!

We booked the Copper Room for after my mum's funeral, perfect sized room for 40 ish of us, very nice room, plenty of light from the big windows, great service from Pat behind the well stocked bar, who was excellent with a large group all turning up at exactly the same time, the food was perfect, good variety and quality. All the staff were so helpful right through the process of booking to meeting and greeting on the day. We would highly recommend.

My first visit. Dog friendly, vegan friendly, smoothies, vegan black pudding, gluten free bread, chai, attentive staff and overall amazing vibe. THANK YOU!

Closed the bar on a Saturday night way before the closing time (as per google) and no intimation given to us as a group who were still having a drink. Only found out that the bar was closed when we went to get another round. Lazy staff and poor management.

Wonderful food, and looked after brilliantly by very attentive staff. Fir those comment's on price, 2 mains, 2 drinks, 2 sides and 2 deserts came in at just over £60. Great value fir such goid food and service in my book well done LS

This was our first visit and we absolutely loved it. First of all what a beautiful building, apparently it was originally a police station, now it is a stunning restaurant. Loved that it felt quite old as you walked in but through the back it opens up and is really light and airy. The menu has something for everyone, not your run of the mill, though there are the staples there like burgers, but some more unusual dishes as well. I had the risotto which was cooked to perfection, one had the duck, another the steak and a burger, everyone enjoyed. We just had room to squeeze a dessert in as well. The place has a lovely feel to it, really nice atmosphere and an excellent background playlist. Service was excellent, we will be back.

Overall a satisfying experience. The menu was a tad on the pricey side though the food was tasty. I got the Heirloom Super grain salad with chicken and it was full of flavour and texture. The atmosphere was calm and quiet which was lovely. Service was neither good nor bad, friendly enough. I would recommend for special occasions or if you are looking for somewhere a bit more pricey.

Pleasant and attentive staff. Bit noisy for us for a Saturday afternoon and food was fine but small portions and quite expensive.

I'm a vegetarian so the strong fish smell was off putting. Large well behaved dog at next table.

I love Lead Station, and I would recommend you to try it out if you havent been. I have been coming here for over 10 years and would describe it as classy, fresh, down to earth, somewhere you can dress up for or just pop into after a hike for both food and drinks. My only advice is to increase the portion sizes because we came here twice in the past week, once for drinks and another time for a Valentines meal. In the past, the hot choc came with a bite sized shortbread biscuit. On this occasion it didn't. And, on Valentines Day my husband and I had 3 courses, we shared the starter and dessert. Total bill close to £100 yet we both left hungry and had a snack as soon as we were home. Unfortunately due to this, we will no longer be coming back for food again which is a massive shame as I used to hype this establishment up to Everyone... Do hope feedback is taken on board and might try again in a year to see if anything has improved. Overall though service is consistently great, vibe is superb, menu is fab, everything is on point and super classy. Just an injustice that the price point is quite high and the portion sizes seem to have significantly reduced. xxx P.S. Forgot to add, I'm not a desserts person but will always have dessert here, it is always just perfect!!!

I have seen a couple of negative reviews recently about the LS. I am here as a local resident and regular customer to the LS. I have followed the sucess and indeed enjoyed the absolute privilege of having this wonderful eatery on our doorstep over many years.The staff including management are consistent and are experts in this restaurant when service and quality is in my view great. I have been coming to the Lead Station since it opened with friends but not again. 2 cups of tea a sausage barm cake and huevos rancheros -(two eggs a bit of tomatoes a spoon of avocado on a shop bought tortilla ) £34 quid. Value for money you are not portions small obviously the owners have become greedy and I’m afraid I know lots of people who feel the same. Restaurants come and go you need to up your game and not blame it on the cost of living crisis.

took advantage of 50% off food for January. Food was excellent and good value given the discount. unfortunately service from female duty manager was beyond slow and soulless. 20 minute wait for a desert menu. mercifully deserts were great too. then another 15 minute wait for the bill. the other half putting on her overcoat wasn't enough of a hint. I asked them to remove the 20% service which had been automatically added to the bill. disappointed but saved by the food. even more of a windup was the fact that other people were being dealt with much more efficiently

Visited with a friend on a Wednesday evening. Service excellent, food nice although a bit disappointed with my choice, a burger needed more flavour. Lovely dessert, a decent size. Really nice place inside, more of a restaurant vibe. The only downside on Beech Road is parking. I got the tram that day to meet a friend and was shocked by the amount of cars in that area. T

Recommended by my friend in Manchester, I feel so surprised by such a decent, classic and well-decorated restaurant on the shopping street of the Chlorton area. It is very suitable for those customers who look for a comfortable, warm and not too noisy environment. The customer service and food quality are very good. I highly recommend a double espresso that is strong, intense and creamy. Please note that the food prices seem to be higher than the average in this busy city. Nevertheless, it is still a good choice to gourmet lovers

Been visiting this place for 20yrs. Usually pretty good, a dependable venue for the Usual fare. Went today for breakfast with 4 others. The full English was good. Avocado on sourdough was a bit grim. Bread was cheap white, confit tomato was a semi warm half of tomato. Eggs benedict was on a stale English muffin. Disappointing stuff from a chorlton stalwart.

It's a long time since I visited the Lead Station but the dinner last night did not disappoint. Four of us all had different starters and mains and none of them were less than lovely. Nice buzzy atmosphere. Lovely friendly staff. Hopefully it won't be too long til we're back

I have been a few times since it opened some 20 or so years ago in the old Police station. Popped in with Martin Meerkat for a pint. They have one real ale on sale. On this visit it was Oppenchops from Northern Whisper brewery in Rawtenstall. A 4% Golden Ale. Sadly on this visit it was too warm. The front room is a bar area, the bigger rear rooms and conservatory are for food which is very popular, especially with families. Lots of young kids in on a Sunday afternoon. There is some open air seating to the front. Prices reflect trendy Chorlton.

This place has consistently had great reviews. I now understand why. Everything was perfect.

I came with my daughters on Saturday, we hadn’t booked but they found us a nice spot. Staff were polite and attentive and food was really nice

Delicious roast dinner. What particularly stood out was the attention to each component on the plate. Often with roasts, the focus can be on a few items and the rest just thrown in. This roast was noticeable that each element had been considered in it's own right. Half decent Bloody Mary too!

A great find in Chorlton on a rainy Monday night. Dog friendly in the bar. Great food and friendly service. Well worth a visit. Fantastic starters of cauliflower wings and tempura vegetables. I had a lovely Hake for my main.

I used to love eating at the lead station but the Food is Not as good as it use to be and you get smaller portions and certainly not value for money, we paid £23.00 for 2 portions of the dip selection which was some fingers of Pitta bread, a few olives carrots peppers cucumber and two very small portions of dip absolutely not value for money. The total bill was £234 ( £21 was service charge ) we didn’t have anything special, so sorry lead station it’s not for us anymore

Great food as usual drinks & atmosphere

Went in for a coffee and got served by an older woman with pink hair at the bar called Emma. She has a patronising communication style and made me feel quite unwelcome. Zero stars for the service, one star because the coffee was alright.

Lovely restaurant, had the full English, very tasty

The food we had here was very nice. My husband had steak and chips, and I had a spring salad, interesting and full of flavours. I was very pleased that there were very few other diners as it was early. Unfortunately there was loud and intrusive background music so I kept having to ask my husband to repeat what he said. I was much less relaxed at the end than at the start of the meal. I thought the service was rather curt. When asked for the bill, the more senior of the waitresses said ‘Yep’. Was it any wonder the young waitress had a similar turn of phrase? The environment was airy and light, which was a nice feature.

Just had a lovely meal at The Lead Station. My friend had the goats cheese salad & I've never seen anyone enjoy a salad so much! We were both working out how to copy it! I had the hake which was such a tasty dish! We both had desserts & even better bottles of wine were half price!!!!! The staff were so friendly & attentive! I'd highly recommend a visit!!xx

Really nice atmosphere with very good food choices on the menu and excellent service. We would consider this venue for regular eating out and meeting friends. It is very good value and a nice place to meet and eat

Just received an absolute masterclass in customer service during breakfast sitting at The Leady this morning! Waking up Hank Marvin and hungover on a rare Saturday morning at home with no plans, we decided to treat ourselves at our local eatery and each ordered a Full English, both of which turned out disappointing (tepid rubber eggs, flabby bacon, barely cooked sausage, etc.). Mr G decided to tuck in anyway (for reasons described above) whilst I quickly realised after a few mouthfuls that it just wasn’t worth the calories. When asked by a passing waitress if everything was OK with our meals, I politely informed her of the issues and why I couldn’t eat it. As the manager happened to be within earshot, she took over to ascertain the position and offered me the menu to choose an alternative dish whilst she took my plate away to relay what she’d been told to the kitchen (having provided her apologies). Shortly thereafter I was presented with perfectly prepared Eggs Benedict, which I inhaled in a heartbeat. After a polite passage of time, the waitress was no doubt relieved to hear that I was very happy with my meal! Whilst I ate my husband had the opportunity to look around him rather than at his plate, and noted that subsequent plates of Full English breakfasts being carried out from the kitchen looked far better than those which we’d received, presumably meaning that my comments were taken as the polite constructive criticism in which they were intended, taken on board and rectified. This was impressive and reassuring to know. When the bill arrived the manager explained that, not only had she discounted the cost of my Full English, she’d reduced Mr G’s to half price, because whilst he ate what he could of it, she knew he didn’t really enjoy it. We both thought this was wonderfully observant and generous of her, which is why we doubled the tip we’d normally pay, to show our appreciation. Seriously guys, no one is perfect 100% of the time, but that was acknowledged and handled 100% perfectly! We left happy (and full bellied) customers!

limited menu which didn’t inspire burgers and two steaks and fried fish. Ordered pan fried hake at £22 and it came in a pool of oil. could not taste the fish. very dissatisfied

Went for Sunday lunch I had roast beef which was amazing the roasties were perfect carrots cabbage Yorkshire pudding gravy absolutely beautiful followed by white chocolate cheesecake.were were given plenty of time between courses to digest .the staff were very helpful and friendly would definitely recommend

My boyfriend bought a round of drinks, (£6.10 for a house pint btw) and the bartender told him to take the drinks to our table on a tray. He walked out the front and dropped them due to the uneven steps, spilled them all. He went back to the bar and said is there anything we can do - the bar staff responded saying “we always bring the drinks out.” - not this time clearly and he had to re-buy the whole round again. Not the best service

I always enjoy eating at the Lead Station and this was no exception. My friend and I both enjoyed the delicious Le Spring salad followed by desserts. I loved the berry crumble and custard - it was light and not too big but very tasty indeed. The service is always pleasant and polite, but never intrustive, and there is a lovely relaxing atmosphere. I will definitely be going back again!

Service slow, Chunky chips were undercooked and mostly scratchings. The ketchup was similar to the stuff they have on fairgrounds. Disappointed

Fish and chips and peas.Good size fish but the portion of chips was very small as they were hidden under fish.I will go again as that is only criticism everything else was spot on

Atmosphere and service excellent. A bright, clean and airy space to relax in with a really nice vibe for a group of about 10-12 at Saturday morning brunch. Everyone who got traditional brunch items (eggs in various ways, pancakes) was very happy with the food. The fresh orange juice was nice and I heard good things about the coffee. Don't be that person who orders from the 'English food' section on the Chinese restaurant menu though! The less-ordered, menu-filler items left a little to be desired. The hot chocolate was nowhere near chocolatey enough, and the cheese on toast was not exciting (though it was a very substantial portion). I would happily go back, but would definitely order differently!

Average to poor service, no one asked if our food was alright and had to keep trying to get someone's attention to order anything. Average food. High prices and they automatically add on a 10% tip. Won't be going back with so many nicer places nearby.

Cold. In a wet and cold Snowy day you would think they would have a fire going. Went in at about 4pm and staff did not look asthough they were at all interested in serving anyone. Went elsewhere.

We booked a table of 10 for a Uni reunion and after watching the mighty West Didsbury FC!! Great service and food - highly recommend!!!!!
