Been coming to Filey for years, this is a hidden gem, we were recommended to come here, and we can take the dog in too, lovely service, a dog bowl and a biscuit brought over without requesting, and delicious food, I chose the homemade lasagne, and hubby the chilli both really delicious, wish I had ordered garlic bread and chips as side order but the portions are good, we will come back here when visiting again

I was a little sceptical when this place was recommended to me- I was so wrong. Booked in for a carvery here earlier today and I can honestly say it was one of the finest I’ve ever had. Beautiful, thick cuts of meat. Great choice of veg. Plenty of staff on so service was really speedy and everyone was so friendly. Will definitely be going back.

This place is mad! It feels like a bingo hall turned into a pub with random diving gear as decor. There's a 'child friendly' side of the pub. Not that it means it's not noisy the other side of the same room. The food was really good. My burger was over cooked. Otherwise everything else was great! Impressive ribs! Great portions. Staff struggled a bit. It seemed too busy for them despite not being full. Would definitely return

First time going, won’t do again or recommend to others. Shown to table at 1.15 as booked by the larger younger man. Then 5 minutes later asked what drinks we want. There was no drinks menu on the table, other than wine which we didn’t want. Then asked to choose plate sizes from the wall behind bar (too far away to see properly). No other questions, menus or even “have you been here before, do you know how this works?” Both questions would have been polite and helpful. Drinks given to us - although we’d ordered J2O, and given to us without the bottle and in a glass (really J2O?). We were told that we would be given a ticket with the time for us to go up to the carvery. We then waited until 1.41. The people at the next tanlbke suggested we speak to the older lady behind bar as they’d clearly forgotten about us. When I did, the lady looked at tickets, shuffled them about and tild me that I’d be given the ticket soon. No apology or reason. Hushed whispers (if possible panic) from the bar lady to the waitress and then the bar lady gave the ticket (said 1.19pm on it) to the waitress to pass on - obvious error on her behalf but no apology or admittance. I asked waitress about vegetarian options as had not seen a menu or been asked what we want. Was told it would be another 25 mins wait. As we had waited a long time already, the vegetarians, being 1/2 the party, just got the veg from carvery and had to pay full price. Whilst waiting in the queue, the larger first man appeared again. He was told by waitresses at which point I caught his eye and explained my annoyance at waiting and not being shown menu/choice. He was aggressive in tone, did not apologise and blamed us before walking away from the conversation. In summary - food nice. Cooks, servers, waitresses were great. People in charge (assuming older bar lady and larger younger man) were unapologetic and offered poor service. Much better places around to go.

We visited Filey during our family holiday staying close by , we were looking for somewhere to eat that wasn't just fish and chips on a sunny Saturday as a family of 4. We went into a pub which we found didn't serve food only to be kindly pointed in the the direction of the Buccaneer and thought this was a fantastic example of local businesses supporting each other. We found the place to be Fantastic as soon as we walked in with th pirate / nautical themed. We went up the stairs to be greeted by a large place with great decor from pirate statues to photos and information about fishing equipment and fish tanks etc , it was great. The bar seemed really well stocked with lots of.oprions and there was plenty of seating , a few pool tables and a few TVs dotted around showing difference things to suit , music playing and lots of different examples of fishing gear on display . Really quirky and interesting place we loved it. Toilets easily found and seemed clean and tidy. Welcoming greeting from staff as we walked in . We found a table and sat down , looked at the menu and we're impressed there were wlors of options available to suit us as having two children and two vegetarians in our group. We ordered food and drinks at the bar and was told our bill would be bought to the table . We were given placemats with our cutlery and napkins etc which I thought was a lovely little touch. When our food came after a short wait we were very impressed with the generous portion sizes and the food was delicious. Lots of options on the menu for whatever you're in the mood for. / Dietary requirements. We felt like it was fantastic value for money and we were all stuffed after we had eaten. Staff were kind and friendly. Great service and experienc. The other customers all seemed like good people and the locals seemed friendly too. We didn't feel rushed or pressured to leave etc . A great dining experience/visit. A hidden gem.. we felt like it would be a fab place to visit in an evening too / have a night out as the vibe of the place was just great.

Visited Filey for a weekend break stumbled across this place advertising a Sunday carvery, popped in and was surprised to be seated straight away! The server attended the table gave us instructions to purchase drinks at the bar and the room next door to purchase a carvery ticket (which you hand over when being served at the carvery) the meal was delicious the food was hot and fresh the waitress was lovely, however we were chased out the door but a women (manager) who claimed we hadn’t paid! This was very embarrassing in front of a full restaurant of people when u clearly have to pay before you eat or drink!! We were asked to return into the restaurant in front of everyone and were escorted back to our table! Where it was then confirmed that actually we had paid!! I can’t help thinking it may be down to the fact we were the only black people in the place and possibly weren’t welcome back!! But not to worry we definitely won’t be returning! Even though the food was delicious.

A unique setting in what must have once been an old cinema or small theatre. You walk upstairs, pass through a bar that seems as if last updated in cinema times, through to the restaurant area. Very much a Pirates of the Caribbean themed space. The menu had a great choice, including kids and smaller sized options. We both had the fish and chips which were the best we have had in many years, good sized portions as well, for £13.95 each, super value. We shared a home made Bakewell Tart that was delicious. The service was just right, well timed and friendly. We will be returning in the near future.

I was disappointed with the way we were treated we hadn’t planned on coming here but it was cold. It was my son’s 18th birthday so we wanted to celebrate it with him, we were only going to have one drink in here then go to the next pub but we found ourselves forced to order food there were 12 of us some of us wanted food and the others didn’t. We were shown to our seats and told how it all worked. We looked at the menu and the owner came up to us and said those who weren’t eating had to move we declined as we went together and wanted to stay together, so they got there food which they told me wasn’t very nice lumpy mash and chewy meat, while they were eating the owner came up to us again and asked us to move to a bigger table even though he put us on these 2 tables that he joined together so we moved, I don’t understand why he couldn’t leave us alone I would have understood if they were busy but they weren’t. We decided to get some puddings that was a mistake the custard was cold and the apple pie tasted really bad, my son had a cheese cake that was so stiff his folk wouldn’t go through it. We had a little girl with us as this was a family celebration she was struggling to eat her meal and they kept trying to take her plate even though she hadn’t finished they never left us alone and was starting to really get on my nerves. We all finally finished eating and straight away they tried moving us again we were just finishing our drinks and letting the food settle but that wasn’t good enough for the owner he said he needed the table for others to have there meal once again there was no one waiting and still not busy as there were only 5 other tables taken at this point or that would have been fine with it. We decided to just leave I will never go in there again and we are locals we have all lived here all our lives.

We ended up at the Buccaneer as a last resort after failing to pre book somewhere for dinner during peak season...rookie mistake! Our son really needed the toilet and we stumbled across the Buccaneer while wandering the streets of Filey. We were a bit dubious, as from the outside it looked a bit like somewhere that peaked in the 90's with some strange pirate paraphernalia and outdated carpets adorning the entrance. As we were getting hungry and our son really had to "go", we decided what the heck, let's try it! So up the stairs we went. The pub itself is nice and clean, and has a classic pub smell when you go in. My initial thoughts were that it resembled an old working men's club from the late 90's early 2000's. Long bench seats wrapped around the majority of the perimeter with dark wooden tables and chairs to eat at. A pool table and corner bar area finished off the look, with more pirate / sea decoration dotted around. We decided it looked alright, and with Thursday night being steak night, we figured we should be fine. I'm so glad we decided to stay, as the food was excellent! My son had a pepperoni pizza which he says was very meaty and nice (looked pretty good to me but he wasn't sharing!) My wife had a vegetable lasagna which she said is one of the best she's had, and I had the gammon. The portion sizes were massive for the price! The gammon was just the right amount of salty, and it was served with a runny yolk egg cooked to perfection. The onion rings were proper onion rings, not the mushy frozen kind often served in restaurants, and the chips were really good. We were all too stuffed for pudding, but the cake display cabinet had been looking at me the whole time, so we went to investigate. Lucky for us, they do takeaway pudding boxes so we had a big slice of the white chocolate and orange cheesecake for the next day. The beer was very well priced for a seaside town (£4 a pint for most beers) and was delicious! The staff are all very friendly and polite, and the menu even has a vegetarian / vegan section! From what I could gather, this was a place the locals go, and I've always found the locals know best! If anyone is looking for some tasty honest food, you can't go wrong with the Buccaneer! Don't let the decor fool you, the food is delicious, beer fresh and cold, staff friendly, portions big, prices great value, we'll definitely go again when we're back in Filey!

Faultless 10 / 10 The staff was very welcoming and friendly, the choice of desserts that are homemade is impressive, but the prices are very, very good to what's on offer. Only wish we found this place at the start of our week and not on the last day. The food choice Mon-Sat is all you could ask for, along with the drinks choice, from the bar. Thank you Buccaneer 😊

Understandably it's themed around pirate and the seaside however it could be updated or cleaner.

We visited the Smugglrs Cove which is the restaurant in the Buccaneer Filey for Sunday lunch. We went for the Sunday carvery, meat was a choice from Turkey, Pork, beef and ham, all absolutely delicios lots of choice regarding vegetables roast potatoes etc. One of the best Sunday carveries we have ever had and very reasonably priced, I would recommend you try it

Very nice people but the fish and chips were very greasy and soggy! Must have caught them on an off day!! Not bad prices though.

I went for a meal at Cinnamon last night with two friends but got my first access refusal with my Guide Dog, I did point out that the law states Guide Dogs and all Assistance Dogs should be admitted to restaurants but the gentleman was very rude and refused me. He said my dog should be tied up outside.
