The Bubble in Canterbury

We chose a spot on the beach on a gorgeous sunny day and discovered Bubble, we had breakfast, lunch and possibly would have stayed for dinner if that were an option! We didn't want our lunch to end, great wine a stunning view and great fresh ingredients put together in an imaginative way (a skill!) This is definitely going to be our place. We can't wait to show it off to all our friends.

So happy to see Bubble open again with its friendly staff and amazing fresh new menu. The break has made everything taste even better and if you are coming to whitstable make sure you pop in. Large choice of cakes and wide menu. I will be aiming to try everything over the coming months!

My friend and I were visiting whitstable for the weekend and came across the cafe on our walk. We were fortunate that when we arrived they had a spare table. Staff were wonderful and friendly and very accommodating of my dietary requirements. Food is super fresh and healthy with really interesting and creative combinations. And you’re sitting right next to the sea. It was perfect. And they go above and beyond to be covid compliant. Temperature checks at the door, social distancing measures in place throughout the cafe and we felt extremely safe and well looked after. It’s a delightful place and I would absolutely recommend it.

We came across the BUBBLE during our short stay in Whitstable and had just a drink on our first visit. Well, it was supposed to be that but the sausage rolls looked so tempting.......Absolutely immaculate with the best observed COVID-19 compliance that we have seen anywhere. ( All done with a lovely welcome from the very friendly team). The next morning, we returned for breakfast which was absolutely delicious - I had avocado, halloumi, chilli jam with poached eggs; my husband had the cannellini beans with poached eggs. All full of flavour and nicely presented. We will definitely return to support this new venture in these difficult times. Well done to all concerned!

If you're down for the day or a local taking a stroll, the bubble is the best coffee and cake stop in whitstable. Very impressive refit, accommodating seating along all of the windows with great views of the estuary, kite boarders and people watching along the prom. Lovely efficient staff ensuring the place is immaculate and following covid regs politely and efficiently too. Cake selection was superb. Loved the Jammie Dodger creation and a delicious carrot cake. Coffee was excellent too. They do a good line in sandwiches and baguettes which will be the subject of another visit! Booking a table can be advised although passing customers were accommodated, prams and all. I'd love to see a board listing the cakes as they have so many to choose from. My wife and I quite like an afternoon tea and wondered if a stand with a selection of sandwiches and smaller cake portions could be a feature in future? Either way, the bubble is a great way to enhance your whitstable visit.

I took my besty here yesterday, 5 October 2020. It was excellent. The safety checks were thorough and there’s a good distance between tables. The view was perfect on an amazingly sunny October afternoon. The food was yummy and came on sharing plates. I loved the aubergine dish and the humous was delicious. Not expensive and worth every penny. All this was topped off with a sunny staff. I will be back soon .

Wow, what a fantastic place to have lunch. The decor is fresh and modern, the view overlooking the sea is amazing and the food gorgeous. Staff very friendly and accommodating, would highly recommend the pastrami and gherkin panini.

Wow, what an amazing little find!! Beautiful decor, love the colour scheme and the feel of the place. We came across it by chance and what amazing little place, we had the homemade baked beans on toast, taste is out of this world. We will be definitely coming back . Chanced on this cafe, visiting the town, just before it was closing and had a takeaway tea and ginger cake to sit and admire the view from a nearby bench. Pleased they offered soya milk. The cake was good but the cake piece was smaller than I was expecting. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Came here finally with my sister for lunch on Monday after wanting to since it reopened.The lovely sisters/family who run it have done it out so tastefully....quirky,unique and contemporary.The menu is like it's decor and was delicious with a great German beer to wash it down.Well done you lovely people and will be back soon with my husband as we keep getting there too late!

Take no notice of the two reviews from the embittered dog owners, clearly trying to damage the business newly set up by these two lovely young women, just because, quite rightly, their germ-ridden pooch was not allowed in. Contrary to their malicious comments, the decor, ambience and service was excellent - and the breakfast superb - unusual, beautifully cooked and with spectacular views over the beach. Yes, a little more pricey than yer a erage greasy spoon where the aforesaid dog owners would no doubt feel at home. Holly and co, you deserve every success. Best wishes for the future. We had the loveliest lunch at the Bubble in Whitstable yesterday. It was my wife's birthday & we reserved the whole restaurant for around 20 people. This was so easy to do & when we arrived Holly was there to greet us. The staff took our details & temperatures before we sat down & then presented us with the loveliest lunch menus. Everybody had open sandwiches, salads & paninis all of which were superb! Drinks were good too with some excellent lagers & craft beers as well as wine by the glass etc etc. We had such a nice time and front of house person "Holly" looked after all of us so well. The restaurant has recently had a change of ownership & a refurb and looked amazing. Even the toilets were stylish & beautiful! Well done guys. We'll definitely be back & thank you so much for looking after us.Highly recommended!!

Just had the most delicious takeaway lunch from The Bubble’s new autumn menu. I highly recommend the roast salmon with a wasabi cream cheese and pickled cucumber and my new all time favourite black bean, roasted sweet potato red onion in a lime, coriander and jalapeño salsa - divine

Located just by the main beach and before the park, this eating establishment offers fine views of the sea. Menu somewhat limited but none the less good quality food at reasonable prices. Staff welcoming and friendly, prompt service and a pleasant dinning experience, Recommended.

This was always a dog friendly cafe. Not any more. New management have redecorated and no longer want custom from people with their dogs. We were turned away today. What was a busy eatery is now almost empty. I wonder why?

Recently refurbished and is now just another boring, modern eating place, completely devoid of any character or charm. It used to be so nice, cosy, and friendly. A well-intentioned refurb, no doubt, but such a shame to see another bland, unimaginative establishment replacing our much loved cafe. Sea views are still brilliant though, and it will be popular with many.

We went here for both breakfast and lunch. Such a lovely restaurant. The staff are so nice and accommodating, extremely thorough with the social distancing and cleaning. Food wonderful. Location brilliant, great view

Wow what a wonderfully modern interior with spectacular views across the water. The staff were wonderfully friendly. We only stopped for a drink but fell in love with the place. Definitely a great spot to people watch. The menu choice was fantastic in a delightfully modern setting.

We called here on the morning and were able to secure a table for lunch, and we’re so glad we did. Amazing selection including a mackerel open sandwich, noodle salad and spanoptika, as well as some of the best coffee I’ve had. The whole place is really nicely fitted out and the staff were lovely and welcome. We’ll certainly be returning.

We had a private function at the Bubble which was superb. The atmosphere was light and modern, the food was amazing (Bryony the chef is so creative) and great views. We couldn't have asked for more and will definitely be going back.

The first time we went there we noticed how clean and modern the place was. The staff were attentive and very friendly. The lunch menu is simple but ample for lunch time. We chose ‘build your own salads’ and were not disappointed with the presentation, and the taste of the food. We booked for another lunch and we found the food to be of the same high quality as before. The sea view is amazing as the restaurant is positioned on a cliff overlooking the beautiful beach. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food and the ambiance of the place.

I have never been to the The Bubble previously and after having my attention drawn to the website i was keen to visit. Holly the new owner and her team are offering first class produce and service. If you are in the area don’t miss the opportunity to visit this little gem. It is spotless clean and they serve the most delicious locally sourced food cooked on the premises by the talented chef. I have already booked two more visits to try all the options on the menu.

We had been coming to The Bubble for an age (under prvious ownership), due to its warm welcome, menu and atmosphere. Love it!So when we looked at going back we had no idea on the new look and feel, and I must say we loved it.The menu is mildly vegan friendly (yes we are tree huggers!) but the team were so cool in coming up with ideas on the spot and we had a superb lunch and amazing wine to accompany.Yes different owners with a different idea, but its fresh, well laid out and so welcoming.Smashed it! I came here for a post-swim breakfast with my family and ordered the poached eggs, smashed avo and halloumi on sourdough with chilli jam. It tasted incredible and that chilli jam is a game-changer! The food was so good, I ended up buying two veggie sausage rolls to takeaway for my lunch and they were equally delicious. I love the new layout - every table now has a sea view - and all the staff were super friendly and accommodating. We are already planning our next visit

Fantastic menu excellent food all served by lovely staff. Quality food prepared and sourced locally. Great views nice to have a nice place to visit in my home town.

£9.50 for a panini is way way too overpriced. It was delicious but certainly won’t be going back to pay that kind of price. The salads are also way too expensive. £3 for 2 small slices of pre cooked cold halloumi is not acceptable. As much as we would love to support this local business, we won’t be coming back until they try to support their local community.

Had two sandwiches and two drinks was £27 very overpriced for what it is. This was take away at lunch time

New breakfast spot in whitstable. This place looks amazing after the refit. Food was amazing, staff fantastic. Nice not to have the weekend airheads. Can’t wait to try the lunch menu

When I die I’m gonna have a bench near here- (but not right in front of the toilets) I will have my wake here and people can enjoy great food whilst they cry and lament my passing. In the meantime I’m gonna by to continue to work my way through the menu and scoff all the cake I can. I have a pic of the veggie breakfast on my phone and I gaze at it longingly on days I can’t make it to Whitstable.

Found the by chance and would recommend as a really cool breakfast spot. Very nice service and food food too. A little alternative feel which is was nice too.

Stopped by for a coffee ended up having breakfast too! One of the best sausage sandwiches (served in focaccia bread) in town. Friendly staff. Didn't seem phased by large greyhound taking up floor space. We'll be back again I'm sure :)

I refuse to advertise for this place as I am selfish and like it best when it's quiet! The staff are amazing. The food is to die for. The view is stunning. It is my haven of calm in my bonkers world. I drive a considerable distance just to go to this café and "get away".

My son and I always pick this cafe for the most tastiest and healthy lunch. The view is outstanding..possibly the best sea view in Whitstable. The staff are friendly and helpful and the prices are really fair. We love it!!

Popped into the Bubble Cafe for breakfast having walked passed many times.Simple but sufficient breakfast menu.Food very well presented and tasty staff good.Small building but not too cramped, great views of Whitstable beach.We will return to sample the lunchtime menu at a later date.

Arrived at 11.40am today with my wife and 2 kids. Found a table and went up to order a couple of sausage sandwiches and some drinks only to be told that they couldn’t serve sausage sandwiches after 12. When I pointed out that it wasn’t quite quarter to 12 yet I was told it would take at least 15 mins to make them so they would actually be served after 12 and there was no way they could do that! This seemed slightly odd as it wasn’t busy but all actually worked out ok as in the end as we found a fantastic little place 5 mins walk away towards Whitstable that served amazing sandwiches so we need up with a happy wife and kids.

Our experience with Bubble cafe has been fantastic and a good one Though we are vegetarians we get to eat a lot of good stuff here.

The soup was excellent, tasy, plenty of it and good value. The coffee was very tasty and being able to sit by the window and overlook the estuary was a treat.

Visited with family and had breakfast and it was very good. Good quality produced used and cooked well with a great taste. Good location overlooking the beach. Very enjoyable.

Looks like nothing much from outside, and is pretty basic inside - you expect stewed tea and a calorie busting fry-up. Instead, cheerful friendly vibe and the most delicious Mediterranean maze dishes. The hummus and flatbread was the best I have had (and remembered fondly a month later), delicious sardines and kebabs, and a good well priced selection of wine and beer. And lovely views too. The owner/chef had lived in the Middle East and was passionate about the food culture he had brought back with him. Went with older children so something for everyone.

I love the Bubble! We stumbled across it the first time we came to Whitstable and always come back! Really lovely homemade Mediterranean food. We’ve had both the mezze and wraps here and would heartily recommend both!

Visited here with friends for breakfast, said they were dog friendly which is why we chose the place, they seemed very offput by the fact we had our dogs !!

I had scrambled egg on toast here this week. I opted for 1 slice of toast bu didn’t realise this would halve the egg as well! So small, must have been one small egg!

Don’t touch the milkshake it’s 50ml Of milk with a whole cup of ice with hard disgusting sprinkles on that we’re not asked for. Who serves a “milk” with ice in. Bubble cafe do. 2.50. Rip off.

This cafe is in a lovely position with great views over the sea. Unfortunately the food is very average. I opted for the scrambled egg, bacon, mushrooms and toast plus a cup of tea. The food was £5.95 which is a reasonable price if you got reasonable portions. I had a tiny teaspoon of scrambled egg on a tiny slice of toast. Mushrooms were OK, bacon was ok two rashers plus half a tomato. Cup of tea, wait for it £2.40 which I think is an absolute rip off. You would expect a pot of tea for that. I won't be going there again, choice of menu is very limited, it's not waitress service either. The tea at the car show was about £1.20 to £1.50for a takeaway tea for same size and these catering vans nearly all charge the same.

We ate here for lunch and enjoyed coffee with oat milk and a lovely flatbread with salad. Views over the sea. Relaxing atmosphere with sofas as well as tables and chairs and dogs welcome. Nice Mediterranean food and some lovely cakes. Great location and great friendly service.

Lovely little cafe overlooking the sea. Enjoy a lovely walk along the promenade afterwards. A variety of mezze style small plates on offer which are highly recommended. 3 for £12.50 or £5 each. Toilet could be updated/improved.

Regularly go to the bubble for coffees/cake, the view and the brilliant atmosphere. Tried the tapas style food today and it was great. Particularly the falafel and hummus!

A recommendation took us to The Bubble In April - well worth it. Simple ambience and tasty food. Ordered 5/6 dishes which was plenty for 2 of us.

Never been to the Bubble before but the sharing Mezze was excellent wonderful flat bread with Hummus, chicken kebabs on a tasty salad bed and potato and courgette cooked and lightly spice dish, the cod (not battered) with salad and potatoes tasty. Everything cooked to order and an amazing sea view to while the time away. Worth a tri to Whitstable just to experience a different sea front location.

The best freshly cooked meze we have eaten and only £22.50 for 5 dishes that is plenty for two people. All washed down with local Kent cider. In a brilliant location overlooking the sea. Comfortable shabby chic decor really suited to a seaside front location.

Fantastic position great view, BUT found the food very expensive staff could of been much more helpful.

We went along for Sunday breakfast, arriving (early?) at 900 am to find the door locked. Fortunately, by the time we had walked over to the Hotel Continental (who refused to serve us because they were too busy - there were three people in the dining room!) and back again, the door was open.

Popped in a dank, wet and windy day for a snack lunch. Delighted by the surprisingly varied Mediterranean menu - shared tapas with my Goddaughter and were both impressed. We sat on the bar stools overlooking the sea watching the seagulls swooping around. The Bubble is a little way away from the main town but well worth the walk.

Tucked away up Beach Walk, a visit to The Bubble is good for the soul. Delicious food, a view that stretches for miles, and the creamiest hummous I’ve had outside of the Middle East. Recommended.

Visited with family, as someone had kindly given us a groupon deal as a gift. Very nice meze, very good selection all of which I thought was delicious. The kofta was best I've ever had. Owner was friendly and attentive. Recommended.

We went here for lunch today and had a selection of mezze and a glass of wine. The service was good and friendly, the view - even on a miserable winter's day - was great especially for people watching and we really enjoyed the food, great falafel and flatbread. We'll definitely be back.

This was our first visit and we have already planned to go again this weekend!! The Bubble is run by the loveliest of people and serves delicious, nutritious and healthy food!! It supports local bakers who supply the best tasting cakes. Every option of milk is available to suit your dietary needs.....oh and the sea view is amazing!!!

This is like a higher class beachside cafe. We booked a Meze with Groupon which was lovely, we had pitta with hummus then falafel to share, a lamb Kofta, chicken tikka skewer with potatoes bravas and garlic mushrooms with a side salad to share. the choice of wines was impressive for such a small place, and they were able to accomodate the fact that don't drink, so I had two mugs of tea instead which I was very happy with. The table had been reserved for us overlooking the beach - absolutely stunning views.

Stumbled across this when out with my daughter. Relaxed atmosphere and nice coffee (that wasn't ridiculously hot) plus a cool view of the sea and passersbys. Salmon and eggs wads lovely and my daughter enjoyed the bacon foccacia. X

What a breath of fresh sea air! No chain, no predictable choices, no formality, no starchiness but rather: relaxed, different, interesting choices, easy seating, relatively inexpensive, atmospheric! Fabulous and what a location! Thank you and we’ll be back!

A friendly welcoming cafe bar/restaurant. Have visited several times. Not a huge menu but the food is always tasty and freshly cooked. A good selection of wine and beers available. We had a mezzes selection which was delicious.

My wife and I are regularly in Whitstable and aware of The Bubble, although we had not previously been customers. A Groupon offer for a meze lunch with wine provided a good excuse to visit. We arrived a little early and took our reserved places, sitting at the high counter overlooking the (somewhat windswept) bay. The venue is essentially a cafe and was quite crowded and rather noisy; hardly a comfortable and relaxing place for anything other than a quick snack.

Popped in here for a light lunch and hot drink before a bracing seafront walk to Herne Bay and back. The cafe is very cosy and has great views over Tankerton Bay towards the eastern end of Sheppey, and beyond to the south Essex coast. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and were obviously proud to stress that all the food was homemade and based on the owner's recipes from their time living in the Middle East. My wife ordered the halloumi wrap and a mug of tea, and I had the falafel wrap and a mug of coffee. The drinks arrived first and the coffee was delicious - a really nice cup of coffee. My falafel arrived in a lovely fluffy flatbread with roasted potato cubes and a side salad dressed in balsamic vinegar. It was absolutely divine, and the best falafel I've ever had! It was beautifully spiced with a lovely crumbly texture and not at all oily, which is too often the case. There was a lovely background taste of cinnamon to them. The salad was very fresh and dressed in very good balsamic. Highly recommended!

If you like lots of children , noise and dogs this is the place for you. Looked forward to visiting but disappointed. Dogs on long leads, what’s all that about when waiting staff are trying to serve hot drinks and meals. Not the fault of the lovely staff. I don’t want dogs sniffing round me when I’m having my breakfast. Maybe a sign saying please keep your dogs under control? I liked the chalk boards telling you what the view offshore is all about that was great. Food got cold very quickly because the whole place was chilly. Coffee and hot chocolate was nice. Maybe the rusty tables could do with a cover. Visited on a Sunday morning at 10.30. Sorry but we won’t be back

I bought a groupon voucher that cost just under £20 the real cost was suppose to be nearer £40. This was for a meze and glass of wine. The meze we had was nowhere near £40 worth of food. It just about filled a gap. Dissapointed. This is not a restaurant as such, you have to queue at the counter to order your food. the day we went we waited half an hour in the queue. Just 2 people dealing with cooking serving clearing etc. We have had mezes before so much better than this.

We had 3 mezzes for £13.50 which was good value and the service was fine. The place had a fantastic view of the coastline but it was all a bit underwhelming. With a bit of investment and some imagination the place could be great.

I was really excited to visit The Bubble for lunch today after having a lovely meal there previously. However today our visit was such a disappointment. Once we had chosen what we were going to eat I went to the counter to order, I asked for our first drink and the man at the counter just started making it before I could continue and I felt like I couldn’t proceed with my order until he finished. I asked for another hot drink and the reply was a rather curt “are you having any more hot drinks so I can make them all at once?”. If only I’d had the chance!

What immediately gave this place a ten for me was the fact we were able to take two well behaved dogs into the cafe.They sat under the table whilst we ate.

Homemade bread, fantastic mezze and flatbread wraps (the Kofte is as good as you will get anywhere, fresh and full of flavour) an incredible view right next to the beach, friendly service, really good coffee (although I'd have had tea if they served tea in a pot). The breakfasts were good, but I wish they did eggs benedict or other innovative things with eggs as we have had in other places. This is one of our favourite places in Whitstable and we would definitely go back.

We have been for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Absolutely love the views and the atmosphere. Although it can get busy at times, the food is always good and worth the wait.

Had the five plates for £20ish including hummus, patatas bravas, falafel, garlic mushrooms and halloumi. Falafel is a Palestinian recipe and lovely. Owner was super friendly and we enjoyed talking about where he got his inspiration from. We looked out at sea and watched the rain sweep in. Was fantastic to see.

Had scrambled eggs, smoked salmon and salad. Good portions. Well cooked and presentation. Nice to get fresh salad that is not watery!

If you like to munch mediterranean and have a taste for good homemade products with a sunny twist you will enjoy your visit here. The humous is gorgeous. Good for veggi folk. And the view........ second to none.

There is no doubt this place has the best views of any eating place in town. Went for breakfast with a friend. Sausage in focaccia didn’t quite work for me. Certainly a very juicy sausage but the focaccia crumbles away and isn’t quite the right medium. It is served with a side salad which again didn’t gel for me. My friend had scrambled egg. It was egg singular. Quite a meagre portion. Coffee is good. They are cooking from a very tiny space so be prepared for a wait and there is a tiny feeling of rabbits in the headlights when you order. They are very friendly people so no criticism there, just didn’t hit my sweet spot.

Finally popped in for coffee, having walked past many times! Coffee was great and we were able to sit by the window and enjoy the wonderful view.

My partner and I had a great breakfast at The bubble on Easter Monday. Please ignore the haters that have moaned about the service, portion sizes and pretty much anything else they can find! This is another gem for the independent eateries in whitstable.

The bubble doesn’t exude a a great presence from the outside - perched on top of the beach side loos, but don’t let that put you off.

I’ve been here before for coffees and service and quality has been good. Due to this I bought a friend along for some breakfast. My scrambled egg was over cooked but had okay flavour.

A perfect spot for breakfast in Whitstable. I have been here several times for breakfast and have never been disappointed by the food or coffee. The atmosphere is always warm and relaxing and the service quick and friendly, plus the panoramic views are unrivalled in the area!

I understand not everywhere allows dogs, but even before i mentioned the pup the owner had a disgusted expression. No wonder its an unheard of cafe, the staff were rude and inhospitable, making it extremely uncomfortable to enjoy our visit. So left in a heartbeat.

This is a small coffee shop and restaurant situated rather incongruously above the public toilets at the Whitstable end of Tankerton slopes.

Just moved to the area and have been trying out various places for meals and breakfasts.

My partner and I dropped in to The Bubble on my birthday for a coffee and a glass of wine on our walk along the beach to Tankerton. Great views of the harbour from the windows... Came back later after the walk and was given some complimentary tapas with our wine order. So good were the tapas that we ordered some more including the garlic mushrooms (oh, my, they were lovely!). But most of all, after my previous experience in Whitstable... they allowed me to charge my failing iPhone. Great customer service, The Bubble :)

What a little gem! Over looking the sea. Fantastic menu. We shared a Meze fantastic flavours and value. Great to pop into for coffee and cake or in this occasion lunch. Thank you we really enjoyed it.

I went with my friend for lunch

Dropped in for light lunch after a stroll along "The Front" at Tankerton. So you queue up to order your food, so what. Served by a very charming gentleman who, as one of my companions had stated their intention to have cake after their sandwich, took the time to explain which cake was what. The cheese and tomato sandwiches were delicious as the filling was between two slices of herbed focaccia (?) and came with salad and balsamic flavoured crisps. The haloumi wrap was equally good and again serves with salad and cubed roasted new potatoes. All this and nice mug of good strong tea. Needless to say no room for cake, but we will will return no doubt. Decor is more shabby than chic but appropriate. Service was good. People were nice. What more could you ask for?

I treated daughter and granddaughter to a visit to The Bubble back at the beginning of this year on a Groupon deal. On arrival we found The Bubble to be grubby. The chairs were dirty on the backs and the freezer was also dirty as were door frames. My granddaughter went to the toy box that was provided and without exception all the toys were broken and filthy which wasn't a good start. We started off with humus and flat bread which was very nice but the rest of the meal we had was awful. The falafels were rock hard and disintegrated when you cut them and the potato dish tasted reheated. We had a chicken skewer which was so hard it was so over cooked. I wrote a review for Groupon which was the first complaint I had ever written out many dozens of good restaurant. The Bubble reacted in the most unbuisness like fashion with a very personal attack.via groupons email. Quote "I must be a very fussy person and use chain restuarants by the sound of things and please don't bother coming here again! .

Went here for lunch on a Sunday.

The Bubble does a great breakfast, or just a cup of coffee or an ice-cream.
