Watch out for the tree stump they haven’t bothered cutting all the way down to ground level in the rear car park. Ripped all hole through my rear bumper. Bloke in the pub could of cared less

It's been an awfully long time since I stepped in the brook inn. It was my local in my early years before moving to the other side of town and was a pleasure to visit and have a pint.

The pub was cold and we needed to keep our coats on. The advertised menu was not offered and only a few meals were available apart from burgers. There was only one dessert available!

Great roast. All food had its individual taste. Not like some of the roasts I've had at other places.

Held a wake for my mum here, service and buffet was lovely will be back again next time under better circumstances, thank you for everything, great staff fair prices.

We had a fantastic roast at The Brook Inn yesterday. Very tasty, including one vegetarian, who was given 2 options. We all agreed it was delicious. Highly recommend.

Had the most amazing roast dinner again here. I've been meaning to review for ages but I always forget! Lovely tasty & home cooked roasts. Staff lovely and nice and clean tables.

Booked a table for 11 people,the table was not laid,the place most unwelcoming. When he came to take our order ,everything are party asked for ,was told they didn't have it.lthink total they had about 3 or4 things on the .menu, they said there deliver had not turned up,they had my number so should have called and said they hardly anything in.When some of our party asked for pudding they where told they had none at all.Really disappointing .We will never go again. I did ask to speak to the manager, but was told he or she where not there

Only serves roast on a Sunday, place wasn't cleaned from the previous night and food was still on floor!

I won't be going back. My friend asked for a Guinness and was told "We've run out". So we asked "what ales do you have?" "This one" was the reply. The barman had no idea what service was. I can't remember the ale we had but I'm being kind saying it was average. And it was cold in there and I'm not just talking the atmosphere. We had to keep our coats on and my friend was shivering by the time we finished our pints. We didn't stay for a second.

Wonderful food, large portions and it was absolutely delicious. Friendly staff-when they're behind the bar and not out the back every 5 minutes. However, the total lack of atmosphere, hardly any furniture, absolutely not a single Christmas decoration up of any kind, plus it was freezing (we were all sat around in our coats!) lets the place down completely. Such a shame, could be so good in there!

Stopped in here for lunch and had a yorkshire pudding wrap. Amazing food at a good price

Been coming here for food for a few years now and today just wasn’t that great, food was lovely and hot but it he quality just isn’t the same, crinkle cut carrots from primary school dinners, meat was very dry, potatoes burnt but not crispy.. obviously been left under the heat lamp for a while as the gravy had gone like glue! paid extra for pigs in blankets and they were cremated, 2 of our party chose Black Forest gateau and the chocolate fudge cake for desert, seemed to be the big cakes you buy in bookers which is fine enough but the gateau was frozen in the middle, I ordered the “New York cheese cake” and was presented with a quarter of the saddest looking Iceland style out of the tray cheese cakes I’ve ever seen, about half an inch thick.. not what it should’ve been at all.. guy behind the bar wasn’t the most friendly either.. such a shame as we used to love coming here for family meals but might have to look elsewhere from now on

I haven't been to the brook in for some time. It's been going through..... A transitional period. However the menu looked good, so we tried it. And it definitely didn't disappoint!! Lovely food. Attentive staff. A large selection of drinks. Reasonably priced too. Will definitely returnx

Great visit when I popped into see and old friend playing live in the bar. We had food which was delivered quickly and was of great value for money. And of course live band was awesome.

I did go on a quiet night, but been since and watched a band, the atmosphere was a bit better.

My wife and I ate here several times during a recent visit and were AMAZED at the quality of the food. I grew up in the vicinity and had very different memories of what was available there in the past, but the new crew there (Jim and Steve) have got it going on. Everything we tried over several days was delicious. Great, quiet, location and a clean, amiable space. Highly recommend.

A quick lunch at the Brook today was an excellent decision. Delicious BLT, flavoursome, beautifully cooked and presented. Couldn't fault it. To cap it all, even the condiment was top draw! An artisanal locally brewed malt vinegar for my crisp chips. I shall be back!

Popped in after seeing a few reviews online. Food was excellent, large portion sizes and piping hot. Great friendly service too. Will be visiting again to sample more of the menu and the bread and butter pudding!

A happy discovery! The staff and service are great, and the food is superb. I personally recommend the burgers -- best I've had in ages -- and the french fries are perfect. Also can recommend the baked potato and the salad. I wish this pub were closer to my home.

Went tonight with three friends we all had the burger with smoked bacon and cheese this was delicious, reasonably priced with very friendly service. Would recommend and will definitely be returning

We had lunch on what I understand was their first Sunday. The roast was mouthwatering and tender the burger was well cooked and well presented. We will definitely go back for another meal

Recently moved to the area so was our first visit and was really pleased we chose to come here. Our food was lovely, great service, very friendly & the relaxed atmosphere feel of the pub was nice. They’re dog friendly too! Reckon this will be our new local go to.

Visited this place for the first time today having just moved to the area and what a lovely place this is, the food was absolutely stunning and the staff couldn’t do more for you lovely people lovely place! I think this will be me new regular watering hole!!

Along with my wife and friends we searched for a local pub for a good roast dinner. As the website said roast coming soon I decided to ring them up and find out. I was greeted by a friendly voice on the other end who was very helpful, cheery and felt like I was talking to a mate that I had known for years. He informed me what they have recently took over the pub and they hired a new chef who was excited to start cooking, when asked about the roast he informed me that this was the first Sunday they were doing the roast. On arrival a friendly face greeted us and promptly showed us to our table and took our orders. Now to the food. The roast was wonderful. Big portions, lots of meat and every plate got a Yorkshire pudding, not an aunt Bessie but a homemade one which was in my opinion makes or breaks a roast. The vegetables were cooked well and we had not a boat but a big jug of gravy. If you want good food, great service and delightful location this is the place to go. Oh and it is dog friendly.

Unable to rate food as I did not order anything on this occasion but the bar service was fantastic and the beer garden was tidy and well kept. Lovely tasting pint and the food on the table next to us looked fantastic. Lovely looking venue for the events they hold. Can't wait to return for something to eat

I’ve gone into the pub bare in I don’t drink alcohol I come this pub most weekends but this weekend I thought i won’t bring my id as I don’t drink alcohol but then matey kicks me out for no reason saying if your under the age of 16 you can’t be near the pool table and near the bar 😂😂bare in mind am 18 covered in tattoos and pretty noticeable that am over the age of 18 if I were you and you look abit young don’t come here they will tell you to leave or basically tell you not aloud near the pool table or the bar witch is basically the hole pub not coming again all I wanted was to see some pals stay for an hour and go but chnage of plans am writing this because some matey dunno how to do his job

Saw a very good live duo on Saturday night after a really disgustingly disappointing visit to the London Inn. Brilliant service, fun atmosphere and a vast selection of drinks. Bar service was quick and it's great to see the pub busy again after being closed for a while. Big recommend!

An amazing pub overall , the bar tender Conner is so friendly , likable and keeps the energy alive . I recommend you try this place with a great selection of drinks and nice locals it's perfect for anyone.

Walked here yesterday while showing family around Plympton. Very friendly attentive staff, comfortable seating to enjoy a few beers & chat. Dog friendly, good selection of beers..... recommended.

My son took us to the Brook inn for Sunday lunch, it was quite dark inside, the food took around 30mins to come and when it did it was barely warm, the veg was cooked to within an inch of its life, I had chicken and pork, the chicken was very dry, and the pork was tasteless, my plate was swimming in very bitter concealed gravy, all in all not a very nice meal, we won’t be returning….

Decided on whim to visit local pub for a Sunday roast. We'll it did not dissapoint, a delicious meal,with all fresh Ingredients, meat plentiful very tender we both had the pork😋 great background music, only small criticism was its a bit dark inside. Would return again. 😊

Pleasant pub, lovely beer garden, plenty of parking nice gardens, if I lived local I'd be a regular to unwind after a days graft, drinks very reasonable prices.

We dropped in here with friends from the isle of wight. Forgot how much of a wonderful pub the brook inn is to be honest. Fairly new owners. The pub was extremely presentable, lots of comfortable seating and the food was top notch. There was a short wait for the food but boy was it worth it. Beautifully presented, reasonably priced and amazing taste. Would recommend to anyone. Will definitely be back

Really delicious and very generous roasts, both vegan and meat, with all the trimmings. Beautiful day sitting outside in the garden. Absolutely lovely bar staff, so friendly and welcoming. Fab decor inside, really funky art on the walls and I love the furnishings, especially the sofas and the cosy corners. I can imagine it would be lovely on a winters night as well, especially for a romantic midweek night out. Highly recommended.

Sorry guys, I cannot rate you higher. I haven't eaten any of your food & it's years since I've been to your premises BUT I can honestly say, I have NEVER had a venue take FOUR days to respond to a message re a large booking. You might not be bothered but for a 60th surprise booking, you won't be surprised I went Since I cannot find a way to respond to your response, I am having to post it here, at the end of my original review. It was a telephone message, left on Monday. My query was returned, by your business, on Thursday at 11.01.

Great food friendly atmosphere and greet staff

Lovely afternoon lunch with family. The chicken & ham pie was delicious, there was so much meat the young lady kindly wrapped it in foil so we could take it home. Everything was hot & tasty.

A group of us (adults and kids of different ages) had lunch at The Brook. We all chose something different and all our meals were well presented and delicious. Would definitely visit again.

Friday night drink with my kids after a long week at work, served by a sullen unwelcoming humourless bar maid. No wonder there was hardly a soul in the pub.

I visited with my partner for some food in the evening. The building was lovely and the staff were welcoming. We had the vegetarian and the Brook's burger. Both of which were very underwhelming, both had little to no taste served with 'homemade coleslaw' which was clearly straight from a packet. All tasted like pre prepared low quality frozen food. The waitress asked us how are food was once we were already done and ready to leave at which point we didn't see any reason to complain, the food was edible and although nothing was 'wrong' with it, it wasn't enjoyable. I messaged to provide honest feedback to the restaurant with the intention of improvements being made/purchasing of higher quality ingredients but was never responded to. Food was expensive for the quality and the restaurant was cold, would not return.

Sunday roast - meat was good / veg was tasteless. Nice service and location. A little cold but I guess that’s saving money on heating. Probably a good venue for live music. We will give it another go.

Awesome Sunday roast! I had the roast beef and my partner the pork. Both absolutely loved it. Lots of meat and loads of veg to share! Meat was lovely and tender. Gravy was tasty. Thank you The Brook Inn!

We booked last minute as we had been in Plymouth shopping. When we arrived they showed us to our table and were very welcoming. On looking through the menu we realised it wasn’t carvery style but thought it would be ok, we paid £48 for 2 adults mixed meats and 2 children’s roast plus £7 for a child’s nuggets as youngest is quite fussy!! The wait was quite long we waited about 20 minutes for our meals to arrive!! When it did the meat looked lovely, the children had 1 potato each, a stuffing ball and parsnip and a Yorkshire!! Our 2 meat ones looked good but still only 2/3 potatoes!! Then the veg came out a bowl of red cabbage, a dish of brocoli and a dish of sliced carrots and then the smallest dish of cauliflower cheese to serve all 4 of us!! We basically had a sprig of cauliflower each!! Then the nuggets came out on first sight I could see they were over cooked but because we had already waited long enough I did g make a fuss and went with it, but yea fussy eater ate 1 mouthful and that was it!! We had to ask for more gravy and I can’t fault the girls as they were both lovely!! No one came to ask how the meal was so couldn’t air my views until afterwards and we just said about the nuggets which they refunded!! I own my own catering company and well my roast dinner is double the size of there’s and half the price as well!! Unfortunately it wasn’t a pleasant stop for us purely price wise it was a very expensive roast dinner that wasn’t really a roast!! All of us have come home still hungry!!

Unfortunately we didn't have a good evening the last time we visited The Brook. The staff were far from welcoming & the place was freezing. We ate with our coats on (we weren't the only table wearing coats) & asked for the heating to be put on, it finally came on at 1930, too late & too cold for the 28th December. On the plus side the food was OK.

Proper big servings of food! The nachos were delicious, tons of cheese, not expensive. Wait, the roast Chicken meal portion was tiny.

It's a decent pub, which was sadly quite quiet for a Friday night.

Lovely setting. Traditional old pub with wooden beams and log burner. Decent selection of beers. HOWEVER. Food was very disappointing, especially for the price. We had the brook (beef) burger and veggie burger for £15 and £12. They wouldn't be out of place at a burger van being sold for £6. I would go as far as to say I'd prefer a bog standard wetherspoons hamburger. We will not be visiting again.

What a shame . The food looked lovely , it was hot and plentiful . Downside....it was tasteless . No flavour, the gravy was coloured water . The beef was so chewy that I left it . The plates are so small it makes it difficult to eat from . The place itself is nicely decorated , but it was freezing !! People were wearing coats . No fire going . Radiators not on . I'm a warm person , so I don't like to be hot , but I don't expect to be chilled . The pudding was nice but I had to ask where it was as 20 mins after finishing the mains it still wasn't anywhere to be seen . The table they originally showed us to had a buggy parked in a seat area and people's drinks on it . Actually they didn't show us , they said it's around the corner we'll just get some chairs ?!! They had to find us somewhere else . ridiculous . The staff are also miserable and do not know how to smile . Such a shame as it's very near to us and could have been a regular place to eat

Not great, booked in advance was seated in pub rather than the restaurant, no options, not in a hurry to go back, coffees were cold, had to be remade, food not great, Ham was very undercooked, raw in places. No apology or explanation from the Chef, Freezing cold, had to keep coats on, only nice thing was the pudding, staff not particularly friendly, couldn't raise a smile between them, wont be long before they close down again I suspect, empty and unwelcoming place.

Had my 20th birthday party here at the brook inn… such a warm and welcoming atmosphere!!..pub was really busy and nothing was too much trouble at all!..the buffet was delicious also they were amazing at catering for diet requirements/allergies which was perfect for my guest!!.. Came here after having a nice roast last month for dinner.my daughters fish fingers were just pure oil! My husbands burger bap was 100 years old and stale ! And the onion rings vile we could not eat them without oil dripping down our faces. To make it even worse the mens toilet smelt like tramp alley to the point my husband said he never wants to come back and this was before we even received our food. When we told the waitress that the food was bad all we got was a half assed sorry and the bun was toasted ( it certainly was not) and then blatantly heard her and the owner / landlady talking about the situation and didn’t even have the courtesy to come out to talk with us or offer any form of refund. Probably the reason why we got made to pay for our food before we ate it and why we were the only customers in there ! This is the first review I have ever done that proves how disappointing this place is.

Awful food, everything dripping in oil. Toilets disgusting to the point I couldn’t breathe from the smell of urine. Service poor, do not recommend.

Roast meals nice, roast pots a little hard, thick skins. Roast beef superb. Staff very efficient. Toilets clean.

Had a really nice burger, My colleague had flat iron steak and said it was one of the best he's ever had
