Stayed here a couple of times and found it nice enough. However, just had a message from them to say that my booking for July has been cancelled (due to overbooking). However, rooms are still available on their website. So, what they mean is, we've cancelled your cheaper advance booking so that we can make more money from the room. I'll not be staying there again...

Dreadful hotel to stay in. Very dated room, extremely noisy and when I complained on the first night the duty manager said there were no other rooms available and offered no apology - sadly lacking in customer service. Cleanliness not the greatest either

It’s been a long time since I’ve stayed at this hotel but I was pleased with the price I paid and thought give it a try . I asked for a quiet room and indeed room 215 was at the back of the building overlooking private homes, so nice and quiet . It was a freezing cold day but he radiator was really hot . Effort had been made to lightly decorate the room and it was nice. Little handy things like a charging port for your device , light switches beside your bed and proper glasses beside the kettle . The bathroom was more that acceptable with loads of hot water from the shower . Breakfast was freshly cooked , very nice with quality sausages . A happy visit

Awful Customer Service and No Sleep... People reside at hotels for several reasons yet nearly all do so for one primary reason and that is sleep, at the Brook Hotel I had little sleep due to numerous factors and received the worst customer service imaginable. The Best Western website states that guests should experience...unique stays, extraordinary value … truly distinctive experiences…special-touch home comforts...make sure it’s your experience that hogs the limelight…Western people care about making lasting impressions...A warm welcome...style and comfort – the décor may differ, but all our hotels prioritise your comfort. The Brook Hotel website also states that the hotel ‘has an excellent reputation for offering great service.’ and continues to state that it is ‘a great independent hotel with our personal style and charm and you, as our guests have the reassurance of quality and high standards that a Best Western Hotel offers.’ In my experience, the Brook Hotel is failing to uphold these standards even to a low level of competence. I would like to outline why during my stay the promises made on these sites and others were woefully short of what I experienced from the time that I arrived at the hotel to when I departed in abject anger and in pain. From the beginning, when I arrived at the Brook Hotel and tried to check-in I was ignored by the receptionist and then failed to apologise for my wait, then she could not check me in fast enough showing further incompetence in not relaying any information about any of the facilities of the hotel other than to inform me that the hotel restaurant would be closed that evening. This was the commencement of my feeling that I felt during my entire stay that I was not a valued customer of the business yet more an unwelcome inconvenience who was to be tolerated and endured; certainly, I did not receive the promised ‘great service’. On arrival into the room more disappointment was to be presented; the room was like an ice box due to the room’s window being wide open despite it being one of the coldest days of the year, to compound the issue was that the radiator was turned on which shows the hotel’s totally disregard to environment issues which is unforgivable. It soon became apparent that the room had other issues including the television which was missing the vast majority of the free-view channels normally present on any television in the UK and initially the Wi-Fi was very slow on speed, however, this did improve; these and other issues were compounded by the in-room telephone also not working, so contacting reception to ask for a resolution to these issues was not as easy as it should have been. Whilst washing in the en-suite bathroom I noticed areas which has been missed by the housekeeping team including a disgustingly dirty shower head, a shower curtain covered in stains and which had obviously not been changed in an age, the taps were covered in watermarks showing a lack of cleaning care and add to these the shower temperature being hard to regulate due to a dis-functional control tap, again not the best. Now I come to the most unforgivable part of the stay; that being the state of the bed mattress which was totally unfit for purpose, it was ancient, covered in stains, the springs gave little or no support just dug into my back, above all the mattress did not allow for a person to have a comfortable nights sleep, in fact, in my case it caused a flare-up of my injured back resulting an increase in pain and discomfort which was most unwelcome. When I came to food my options were limited given the closure of the restaurant so I decided to take advantage of the offer made on the website ‘Room service is available for breakfast, lunch and dinner and our menus are in your room for you to choose from so choose your meal’; this dining option was not available. The hotel was given the opportunity to respond to my concerns but as another failing of the business customer service and shows how much the business cares for its customers Stay elsewhere...

Myself and my husband had our beautiful wedding reception at the Brook Hotel and from the minute I called up back in May to see if this venue was free I have had the best experience ever. My wedding planner Jay who took my call back then has been absolutely amazing, he is professional, organised, extremely efficient, punctual with correspondence via email and calls and a really friendly guy. He put me at ease and I felt throughout the whole experience he had everything under control and I didn't need to worry or micro-manage. We had multiple meetings to discuss what and my partner wanted and Jay accommodated our needs and wishes, he covered every detail and tripled checked everything. He always had time for me when I kept updating him on changes. On the day everything went without a hitch. Every single one of my 34 guests have commented on how lovely the food was which was delicious, we had a three course meal and BBQ, the portions were brilliant, I've been to many weddings and you leave starving because the food portions are small. The other servers were professional and helpful, Jay was there throughout the day checking every single detail was perfect. We had a disco which Jay uses for the hotel weddings was amazing although due to covid restrictions there wasn't any dancing except our first dance. The playlist was amazing and again evey single guest mentioned how excellent the songs were not one song did we cringe at. The honeymoon suite was included in our package and OMG the room is huge, very clean and decorated tastefully. The bed was so comfortable, I have a 1 year old son who was staying with us overnight, I forgot to mention before hand but when I explained at 11;30pm, there was a travel cot in our room within 10 minutes. The price of our package was extremely reasonable and to be honest with the service Jay provides and his team.on the night they should charge alot more. I would highly recommended anyone getting married to use The Brook Hotel, you will not regret it. Thanks to Jay I will look back on my day and have a huge smile on my face, that man made my reception magical and I didnt have to stress or worry cos I trusted Jay completely and knew he wouldn't let me down. Thank you the Brook Hotel and especially Jay you are one in a million don't ever stop planning weddings xxx

Would certainly recommend, the only downside with being a Hotel that allows dogs you would expect dogs to be allowed in the bar. My husband and I had a carvery at The Brook Hotel in Felxistowe on Sunday 1st September. We were sat promptly and our drinks order taken. Having watched the staff walk past our order which was ready on the bar counter a couple of times, it was eventually picked up and brought over to us some 15-20 minutes later. Comments on food: Turkey which looked very nice. However, it was extremely dry.Pigs in blankets under-cooked and still pink inside.Roast potatoes soggy and watery inside.Parsnips chewy and most unpleasant. The stuffing balls looked like frozen ones, were tough and did not taste nice.Carrots and broccoli were fine.Mashed potato was lumpy and had clearly been stood there sometime as it appeared to have streaks of leek in it - which on closer inspection was in fact skin! The yorkshires had run out and we were told to wait. When they arrived they were at least edible. The gravy was exceptionally salty. The whole meal was tepid. We felt unable to finish our meal and left at least half of it. I then requested the bill and told the waitress that unfortunately, it had been the worst carvery we had ever experienced. Her reaction was: "Oh sorry, I'll get you the General Manager's card so you can email her". We did, and have not had the courtesy of a response, hence leaving this bad review. To add insult to injury, when she brought the bill over, we had been charged for two desserts and two coffees which we had neither ordered nor had!

Having looked their website we saw they offered 2 carvery meals for £16.95 so thought we would go down memory lane & give it a try. What a mistake. There were 3 meats on offer, pork, turkey & beef but you had to look closely to see what they actually were. The turkey especially was an insipid colour. I opted for the beef, was given one slice & then asked if i wanted another one?? There were new potatoes, (cold) roast potatoes, red cabbage, (mushy) broccoli, peas/carrots, (overcooked) pigs in blankets, yorkshires & gravy. Abysmal choice. The food was substandard. We often eat at another Best Western, The Ipswich Hotel where the food is of a different calibre to the food here. We will never return to The Brook. When we were given the bill we were charged the special offer of 2 carvery meals for £17.50. We chose not to make an issue of this as we wanted to leave asap, but did mention to the lovely staff member that the website needs to be checked & showed her why.Be wary of the torn carpet in the middle of the restaurant, a massive trip hazard☹️.

We were treated to lunch at The Brook, in the company of relatives we don't visit often enough, so an excellent time was had by all. Also on the positive side was the friendly service provided by our waiters. Having said that, I think that on a pleasant late September day we all found the dining room too hot. I thought the decor was a bit dated and occasionally garish - check out the hotel's website to see if you agree with me. As for the food, we all opted for the carvery, a definite bargain at 2 for £14.95 Tuesday- Friday, January - November. The pork was very good, with crispy crackling if your gnashers are up to it. The beef was well-done, by which I mean cooked more than I like, and matched by distinctly brown yorkshire puds. I didn't try the turkey, but my fellow diners seemed happy with it. There was a choice of roast and new potatoes and a range of sauces. The veg had a bit of a canteenish taste and texture, but it's not easy to prep large quantities. There was a fair selection of desserts on offer, in the £4.50-£5.50 price range. My bakewell tart with custard was ok. I hope this doesn't read too much like a grumble as I believe in showing gratitiude for the food we eat! Ours was only a fleeting visit to Felixstowe, and it is quite possible that on another day the thermostats might have been turned down a notch.

Because my disabled brother was travelling home from australia for Christmas to see my elderly mother, my other brothers and their families decided to come from London and Scotland as well so that we could have a family reunion. In August I booked a private room and a table for 17 for the Boxing Day meal.so that the children could run around and play and we had arranged a photo session as well. All of the arrangements were confirmed in writing by the Brook Hotel, we even had several conversations after this when it was again all confirmed. I paid a lot of money upfront. When we arrived 10 minutes before the time we had booked, we were rudely told that we were too early and had to wait in the lobby, my brother is paralysed in a wheelchair and my mother very elderly and disabled, we also had 5 children in our party. Eventually we were told we could go through and we were taken to a long table in the middle of the restaurant, I explained that we had booked a private room and was rudely told I was mistaken there were no private facilities available. I asked to see the manager and waited again in the lobby until he came to tell me that there was nothing he could do about it apart from give us the money back and we could go elsewhere! We had no choice but to eat there, but with hindsight I wish we had taken the money and gone to McDonalds it would have been better food! For three times the price we received half the choice or amount of food that is usually on offer and most if it was dreadful, my desert of hot apple pie and custard was frozen in the middle, we were given the cheapest Christmas crackers I have ever seen and the service was awful. We ate and left as soon as possible, my mother was heartbroken and the rest of the family devastated. I will never ever go there again and will warn others at every opportunity.

We visited the brook hotel for our annual family Christmas meal get together. For a start, our chosen date, a Friday night in the middle of December was about five pounds more expensive per head but we went with it.Start was extremely poor, had a flake of chicken on a couple of lettuce leaves, presented on plates which are older than me. Carvery for main, can't complain too much, and dessert was a 'fresh fruit salad' which was CLEARLY from a can. I got about 25 bits of apple and, no word of a lie, I got one grape and half a strawberry. Staff at the bar are awful. My partner asked if he could pay by card.. Yes he could.. Brilliant! Ordered one drink. It was Only once the drink was poured the barman said it was minimum spend £10. Completely unacceptable. No common sense. The wine I liked is now only available by the bottle and not the glass, also ridiculous. Never again! Complete rip off, have been taken for a complete mug with fruit from a can and obscene bar prices. Had been to the Alex for a Christmas meal the week before and was ten times better, and drinks tokens were included. Has put us off for any further events, weddings, birthday parties and family gatherings.. Just awful! There are much better places in felixstowe, especially the independents like the Alex and bencotto, even prezzo.

Very disappointed with Christmas lunch. Small portions, slow service and the main turkey lunch consisted of 2 sprouts, 2 very small roasts spuds, 2 roasted carrot batons, a portion of stuffing and two slices of turkey and looked like it had been thrown on the plate, £65. I feel robbed!!

I visited this hotel for a Wedding last month,The Wedding was amazing and the entertainment was superb, tho that was handled by the bride and groom, the venue was great for the occasion.BUT you would be best to hire the venue for your party and eat at a restaraunt instead. As they obviously charge a per head price for the meals and this was the days weak point. The service was poor, not enough staff to handle a event booking,we were kept waiting for ages before food was even starting to come out, many of the guests left to go to Mc Donald's to grab something to eat when they were waiting, after mine was served I wished I joined them.15 minutes after the food was served and the guests had empty plates, the waiters and waitress' asked us if we'd like dressing!?We were offered a poor menu to choose from with hardly anything on it,and not many things that looked nice.Starter: Tomato SoupThis was like red water, very poor,Heinz pretty much set the standard and if you cant make a good tomato soup then you may as well serve the guests Heinz.Main:BeefDidnt know what was going to be served actually, nothing special about this but it turned out to be the best part, even tho the service brought the dressings out after everyone had finished.Dessert:Triple ChocolateSounds good, turned out to be awful, chocolate sauce squirted over a plate is not a dessert, was horrible, had to let someone else eat this and wished I joined the trip to Mc Donalds. This whole main meal was awful, but thankfully, later in the night a pretty good BBQ was set up which at least topped us up seeing as we were hungry and the meal had been so bad.

We went with friends for Sunday lunch last week. I popped in earlier in the morning to book a table the receptionist was friendly and informative. We all had starters there was a good choice but we were all disapointed by the quality and quantity of them, however the carvery was excellent value. The chef carving the meat was very jolly my friend and I chose the beef which was very good. The men had beef, pork and chicken and said they were all good and there was a good choice of vegetables.

After a hard days work went to the Brook for a carvery, hadn't eaten since lunch the day before. The food was stone cold, the Yorkshire puds were cremated, the mash was so runny that it slid through the fork. The waitress looked like she'd come straight out of the Benny Hill Show! It wasn't just the waitress who was without class, the whole place is a joke! Save your money, the fish and chip shop on the sea front near Manning does the best fish and chips I've ever tasted! Go there instead.

We came here for the momentous occasion of my Grandma's 90th birthday meal and it certainly didn't disappoint. It was great that we were allowed to decorate the table which obviously gave it a really personal touch. Although the food was not 'fancy' in terms of high end restaurants, what we were served up was well cooked, presented and really tasty. A great afternoon was had by all.

The Brook Hotel tends to be our 'go to' place when we have family birthdays and other special occasions. The staff are very friendly and will accommodate most requests. High chairs for the smaller grandchildren are available. OK the place is not the most modern establishment and probably could do with a bit of a makeover but "scruffy run down hole" is a tad unfair! The carvery is not expensive and the food is quite palatable. Our grandchildren eat huge amounts and the carvery is generally visited by them more than once! All in all I think that you get what you pay for at the Brook. We'll certainly go back again . . . . . it beats cooking for our huge family!

I have eaten twice at the Brook since it became a Best Western establishment, the first time from the carvery and latterly at one of the Christmas Party nights where I chose the roast loin of cod for the main course. Both meals were very good especially considering it was 'mass catering'. My visit on Thursday 11th was exceptional. Everything was superbly fresh, very tasty and well presented.

Generous portions in carvery and service excellent.... a little bit tired on the decor front but far and away a better carvery experience than the chain carvery restaurants around these days which are like a conveyor belt.A rather lovely old fashioned seaside experience and would certainly revisit. Amazing value for money, good veggies and tablecloths rather than sticky bare tables. Yorkshires could do with a bit of improvement though.

We have enjoyed the carvery here at the Brook Hotel. We booked a party celebration and it was absolutely wonderful. The room was set out exactly how I asked, the staff were attentive, friendly and professional. Choice of turkey, beef and Pork, 3 different types of potato, veg, yorkshire puds, stuffing, gravy, sauces. etc. 20 people enjoyed the wonderful carvery, it was a Sunday lunchtime and very busy but you wouldn't no it the way the staff moved around and served everyone drinks , starters and desserts. It was a wonderful afternoon. We went back for the carvery on Tuesday, it was delicious.

A no frills old style Carvery, Turkey, Beef and Pork, all the trimmings, excellent value, and a packed restaurant. If you're expecting find dining this place is not for you. BUT if you're looking for a good value, carvery then for £9/head this place is good value, with good food. Brussel Sprouts were a little "al dente" but better that way than over cooked. Would I go again - yes, but get in early because Sunday lunch it was packed with a long queue for the Carvery.

We stayed here for 2 nights in Aug, we booked at short notice and as he hotel didn't have any family rooms left we asked if a camp bed could be put in a double room which the hotel agreed to. The room was spacious and clean, the double bed was comfortable my daughters camp bed was not as comfy but she still managed to sleep, our room was above the bar and we could hear some noise but this did not stop us sleeping. We didn't eat at the hotel as we wanted to try different restaurants. The staff were friendly and overall we had an enjoyable stay at the Brook hotel and would recommend it as a cheap break.

Visited Sunday 7th April at 2.30 pm. Four of us, friendly welcome, had been fully booked up to that time, so shows what a populat place this is. Excellent choice of food, given generous slices of meat compared to some carveries I have visited. numerous vegetables to choose from. Excellent choice of desserts, unfortunately, so full, couldnt manage one. For £8.95 per person for 1 course, I highly recommend. Various deals during the week, have a look on their website.

Dined here with my elderly father, in the company of approximately two dozen other elderly folk, most of whom were having the lunchtime carvery. The meat was so tough I ended up cutting it into small pieces for my dad ( who couldn't chew it anyway) told the waitress whose response was 'yes it does happen sometimes like if the meat has been standing for a while' no apology. And charged full price for the insult. Nice dining room but we won't be returning to pay £12.95 each for a very poor main course and a 'straight from the freezer' dessert.

We were a table of 9 plus 2 dogs looking for brunch on bank holiday Monday. We phoned a few days previous to book a table to be told they couldn’t accommodate us in the dog area indoors but we could just turn up and get a table outside (which couldn’t be reserved either). We travelled 30 miles to come here, paid the parking fee and easily found 2 tables together outside. It was just before 11am as we were told on the phone previously that breakfast was served until 11.30am. The waitress gave us the breakfast menus and asked us to order at the bar. We made our choices quickly but when we tried to order at the bar at 11am another waitress told us that she couldn’t take our order as the kitchen was overrun because it was a bank holiday! This was despite not 1 single table inside the pub being occupied and us easily finding a table outside. We explained that what we were told but she refused to take the order. This was very disappointing considering our previous phone call and having 2 cars travelled a round trip of 60 miles. We were told to order from the main menu but we couldn’t order for another hour as it didn’t start until 12 noon. The waitress was very dismissive and not apologetic. Very poor customer service as far as I’m concerned. We won’t be going back.

Really recommend this place. Last minute dinner booking, with no issues for a table of six. Lovely place and a good menu. The food was really nice and came promptly. What made this place though was the service from the two ladies who waited on our table. They were extremely kind and friendly and I'd go as far as saying they probably provided the best service I've ever experienced anywhere.

Just popped in for a lunchtime meal , Limited menu had beef lasagne with a side salad and garlic bread. £10.50. The lasagne had been reheated it was dry and very crisp and hard in places and not hot , basically I left most of it and told them it wasn't very nice at all. Just before I left a member of staff approached me and gave me £5 back and said she was sorry it wasn't good. So if it's not good don't serve it to customers.... Not Happy!.
