The Broadway in Derby

From the moment we walked into The Broadway, we knew we were in for a treat. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, and most importantly, the food is absolutely divine! We tried the Sunday Roast and the meats were cooked to perfection and the vegetables bursting with flavor. The service was impeccable, attentive without being intrusive. We couldn't recommend this pub more highly! A truly fantastic dining experience.

The staff was very welcoming, the atmosphere was very pleasant. They have a new assistant manager who we met today, Lauren, she has excellent customer service. The food was beautiful, would be making many more regular visits!

coincidently an amazing girl called lauren served us and she was so amazing and helped us out loads with which wine to select and even informed us about the wine club on sundays and thursdays, such a great atmosphere and can't wait to go back!!!!

Great local made all the more so by fantastic staff Jack, Rob, Lauren and Max. These young guys are a credit to the organisation and themselves.

A very nice pub indeed, will definitely come back here. Visited on a very sunny afternoon and really wanted to stay longer. The food looked fantastic and the selection of beers was decent. Might have found a new place. :-)

Great food, some good weekday offers on and a good choice for Sunday lunch. Staff are all very nice and accommodating.

My last visit for drinks with friends was great. The reserved table was clean/ready. Staff were polite and helpful.

We came here for an Easter Sunday roast with family and were initially very impressed with the prices and the place itself was lovely and clean and a welcoming atmosphere. I have to say what let it down entirely was the food! I ordered a pork belly roast - the crackling was anaemic and soft. The potatoes were not roast potatoes... Maybe more like tinned potatoes shoved under a grill? The roast parsnips and carrots were undercooked and the braised red cabbage tasted like it was just cooked in vinegar. On a positive note the staff were very nice but, perhaps the chefs could do with some extra training!

Food was nice, but price was slightly high for what you got. We had Nachos for a starter, these were too large. The grilled seabass and it was an extremely small plate of food.

The food is really a hit and miss here. Relatively long waiting time for food as well. Staff are good though. Just disappointing.

Went for a drink and a bit of lunch after our hockey game. Plenty of seating, helpful, friendly staff behind the bar, easy online ordering for food/drinks at the table. Food was delicious and reasonably priced for the portion size. 😊

The new menu has some great additions. Huge shout out Lexi who always works herself to the bone, running the floor on her own and dealing with things on the bar as well when needed. She’s an absolute credit to The Broadway and deserves huge credit.

Waited over one hour for the meal and then eventually got a refund because it never came. The people on the table next to me had ants in their food and had to send it back. This place really has gone downhill since the manager left.

Food was lukewarm & beef was tough. My brother's Hunters chicken was dry. The food used to be ok at this pub. A man (the manager I think) offered us deserts for free, which we weren't fussed about.

Have been here several times and always had nice food even when busy but unfortunately I can't say that about today's experience. We arrived just before 12 and it wasn't busy at all, ordered not long after arriving (were on table 50) but didn't receive our meals for at least 40 minutes (bearing in mind we had a 3 year old with us) we thought that was a long time as we hadn't been told about any delays. The food was luke warm at best which wasn't too bad for the kids pizza but wasn't really acceptable for a gammon dinner and garlic mushrooms starter and the side of onion fries were cold. We didn't have anyone come to the table to ask if our food was okay and because of the long wait to receive it and having to get the 3 year old back to his parents we didn't have time to wait to complain. It's a shame because we've previously enjoyed our meals but after today we won't be rushing back I'm afraid 😣

Lived in Darley abbey for years and been coming to the Broadway for years but tonight was especially touched by waitress Louise, a lovely lady running round making sure everybody has everything they need all with a smile on her face. Louise you do a fab job and your kind soul radiates :)

I received a 25% off my bill voucher for my half birthday, so we booked a table online and came for Sunday lunch. We were greeted at the bar, where we explained about the voucher, we ordered 2 roast beef dinners, a bottle of wine and sat down. A polite young lady bought us cutlery and within another 5 minutes our dinner arrived.... piping hot and delicious. Even our request for extra gravy and mint sauce was sorted and delivered!! If I had to suggest something, it would be for real roast potatoes, instead of frozen ones. Everything else was fresh and nicely cooked so proper roasties would have been nice... however, both dinners we still delicious 😋

Me and my husband are down in derby visiting my mother in law and came to the Broadway for dinner. Nice busy pub, even on a Wednesday, clean, happy and bright. Seating is comfortable, and good access for me in my wheelchair. We ordered food via the app. It was easy and there’s a good varied menu. Juliet served us tonight - she was lovely! Very patient with me when I left my wheelchair in a stupid place, she was also very friendly and efficient. Great food - the ultimate burger is probably the best burger I’ve ever had! Thanks to Ash the chef for that. Overall would thoroughly recommend this pub!

Had the steak signature pie, was nice, but when I went to order a ESPRESSO MARTINI WHICH IS ADVERTISED WITH COFFEE BEANS ON TOP I was delivered passion fruit martini, so I went up as we didn’t order that and spoke to the older lady which then I explained I wanted another 2 ESPRESSO MARTINIS only to be told she couldn’t find it on the till even though ADVERTISED, and my reply was a look up to me and the words DONT DONT !! I felt humiliated, even though ESPRESSO MARTINI IS COFFEE BASED COCKATAIL AND ADVERTISED WITH COFFEE BEANS ON TOP!! Otherwise I was pleasantly happy with the pub itself and atmosphere! Spoke to a gentleman who then happily made me a ESPRESSO MARTINI!!

Have driven past this on the way out of derby and often thought it looks inviting. We were starving one evening and popped in for some emergency grub. Fabulous atmosphere with lots of warm fires dotted throughout, and it’s surprisingly big. We visited on a Wednesday and expected it to be quiet but no - it was buzzing! Judith served us and was very friendly and polite - fantastic addition to the team! Our pies were delicious, all the food was served very hot. Toilets were very clean too which is always a bonus in a pub. Recommend!

Came here with my daughter for the first time today for lunch. There was a little bit of a wait for the food, but this was expected as it was quite busy (always a good sign when there is a lot of custom)! I have to say, the food was absolutely fantastic! The ultimate burger was to die for and my girl thoroughly enjoyed her mac and cheese. The brownie was also very tasty! We will 100% be coming here again! Thank you for a lovely experience.

DON'T HAVE THE FOOD. Back in Derby after 10 years. Thought we would see if the Broadway was like it was. Ambiance still good. Nice bar and friendly staff. Food dreadful ! Ordered - 45 minutes wait before it arrived. Not so bad if it was good - but it wasn't. Roast vegetables cold. Didn't want to send back because couldn't face another 45 minute wait. Mains were produced by an accountant costing the ingredients. Shepherds Pie full of diced vegetables and peas - only passing mention of meat content ! Don't know who signed off on The Signature Steak Pie but they were obviously proud at saving the cost of the meat content. Pie crust hinted at a generous content but the reality was hollow in the few pieces of steak it contained. There are many places to eat - this would not be one of them.

Was here for a Sunday dinner, there was a very long wait for the meal which was barely warm when it arrived. I was disappointed with the food, the ‘roast’ potatoes looked and tasted like new potatoes, very unappetising

WHAT HAS HAPPENED told everybody about this place and have been several times over the past few months all with excellent food ,but arrived yesterday Feb 2nd to chaos no table having booked 1 week before the service was good at the table but that where it ends food(Sunday lunch ) was inedible asked for no veg on plate so what happens yes on plate so couldn't eat as my allergy does not allow it all in all a very poor experience please get in touch with me for a full breakdown of what happened inc over an hour wait for sweets which was the only thing I had eaten and please don't send an automated response. Just as I said automated response see below WILL NEVER EVER ENTER AGAIN AND WILL TELL EVERYBODY WASTE OF TIME

We decided to go out for a romantic meal on Sunday. Before heading out, we checked the menu, but when we arrived, it turned out to be just a standard Sunday menu with classic dishes. We ordered two BBQ chicken schnitzels, a side of mac and cheese, and two drinks via the app. It took over 25 minutes for our drinks to arrive, and our food followed immediately after. The main meals were enjoyable, but the mac and cheese was dry and tasted like it had been microwaved. There were no waiters checking on us during the meal, and when we mentioned the issue afterward, nothing was done. Overall, the meal was average for the price.

Absolutely awful waited an hour for food was not told there would be a wait, roast potatoes well they were boiled and hard the carrots were black and peas were still frozen

Came of Sunday roast , waited nearly an hour. For 3 people cost was about £50 with two soft drinks and a cider . Frozen potatoes and veg aswell as lukewarm meat pretty disappointed at £12 each not worth it sadly

When I come to Derby I go to Broadway for a typical lunch with tasty dishes and craft and commercial beers. Warm and typical environment with friendly and quick service. Very cheap for the products offered. If I'm in Derby I come to the Broadway.

Food was great value for money. Staff very friendly, but not enough of them and service was slow despite pre ordering. But we enjoyed it.

Drinks were good, but food was disappointing. I ordered the gammon steak which was almost completely cold and my partner ordered the 8oz sirloin which he wasn’t even able to chew through.

Had a really fun meal with a good friend, he loved it as well!

Great food again - chicken wings starter followed by Rib of Beef main - delicious as usual. Great deal on the drinks too using the wine night code. Food and service faultless.

Had a lovely evening out at the Broadway tonight. I tell you what pal it's been a while since I graced this place but it's still in good nick and the fodder was top notch tonight. Sunk 3 pints of carling darling and washed them down with a baby Guinness chaser. We had a table for 9 people and I'll be honest with you pal, the food quality, speed and efficiency was absolutely bang on. I went with the 2 course set menu and at £12.79 I thought this was outstanding value. I went with the gammon and it came with 2 eggs and was cooked to perfection so hats off to the chef on that one, then went with the cheesecake for pudding and.......what a slab it was it was a beaut. The atmosphere was jubilant and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and we even had a Christmas tree, elf and reindeer visit us! Unbelievable Geoff.......oh what a night 👏

I rarely give compliments to staff at a pub, but after attending this pub yesterday 17 December, I am going to give this pub 5 Stars! The place was not only clean and tidy, but the food and service was excellent too! Would recommend this place to anyone out there looking for a good pub and food. Well done!!!!

Great food for a fantastic price, there were Christmas carols on arrival which was very lovely.

Wonderful place to enjoy some time with friends 😊 Mulled wine was just awesome and if you love it, you need to try it 😉

The food is good for what you pay, and the service is always very good. A good place to pop in of a Sunday evening.

We attended breakfast with Santa, my son is 24 and Down syndrome. He is also Coeliac, they were so accomadating for him food wise. He was also totally included in all the activities and was treated exactly like all the other much younger children. 100% recommended. Wonderful breakfast also

We had an amazing breakfast with Santa today. The food was delicious, Santa made time for each child multiple times and they even played different games. Staff are very friendly and the service is fantastic. Definately the best breakfast with Santa we have done.

The Broadway is my local pub and I'm happy to recommend it to others - staff are attentive, friendly and there is a good atmosphere. They are also dog friendly and love dogs; there is water and food also commonly for the dog. A relaxing place.

It’s a nice pub,,,, but due to my Allergies I am restricted as to what I can eat,,,, I had chicken but you served Beef Sauce with chicken,,,, why do you do that,,,that is so wrong,,, I could have ended up in hospital as I am allergic to Beef ,,,,

It was really busy because of the Black Friday offer but the staff were fantastic, the restaurant area was packed but we were still able to get our table and we were able to order quickly on the app, receiving food and drinks in a really timely manner given how busy it was. The atmosphere at Broadway is always lovely.

A family Sunday lunch for 5, including a one year old. The staff were knowledgeable re allergens (Natasha's law) and checked everything fully. They were very helpful and the service was fantastic. The food was tasty and there was a perfect break of a few minutes between courses. I'll definitely recommend The Broadway and will return.
