The Britannia in Poole

Delicious Sunday lunch with family. The roast beef and chicken were tender, vegetables beautifully cooked and plentiful, roast potatoes crispy and tasty, enormous Yorkshire pudding and endless gravy. What’s not to love?! Surprisingly two of the party found room for dessert and enjoyed an excellent selection of ice cream and sorbets. Good atmosphere in the restaurant and there were plenty of people relaxing outside too.

A group of eight of us visited last night and had , as ever, a lovely evening. A warm welcome and excellent menu choices. We all ended up choosing something different and everyone enjoyed their meals. The whole team looked after us very well. We have been numerous times before and have never had a poor meal. A thoroughly good evening! Thank you.

I hovered with my rating between 4 and 5 but in the end 5 won! The Sunday roast (beef) was sublime, the service in the restaurant exceptional and for a family party of 11 all our needs were catered for including our 4 children. Only small comment that I feel the need to make was the slightly unfriendly attitude from a person behind the bar after we’d finished eating. The lovely, friendly guy running the quiz was a great mine host and the young man who recently left Portsmouth University was equally wonderful. The service we received throughout our meal was fantastic. Thank you Brittania, we’ll definitely be back!

The place is really nicely decorated with a relaxed ambiance. We were a party of 6. We had a drink then went to our table and we were not made feel to rush like some places which was great. The waiter was friendly and very funny. We all had 3 courses and all of us really enjoyed our food. The menu has good choices and portions are just right. I definitely recommend it.

First time visitor, and went on a weeknight. Not particularly busy, and service was brisk enough. Ordered the fish and chips. Now this is always a good test. If they can get that right, then it's likely they'll get everything else right. Cod was fluffy with just the right amount of crunchy batter, and served with perfect chips and minty peas on the side. I'll be more adventurous next time, and there will definitely be a next time.
