We arrived just before 2pm'on spec' - five people in total (including a 3yr old), a baby, and a dog. My husband popped in initially to check availability and that food was still being served. He was told yes but that there would be a half hour wait as there was a large order prior to us. We discussed this before making a decision to get everyone out of the cars (huge palaver with pushchair, lead on dog etc). Having negotiated the puddles and finally entering the pub, we waited for a few minutes for someone to show us to our table. Eventually, a surely looking chap appeared and looked at us before stating that "service is now finished " before we even asked. We thought that he was joking. He wasn't! He stated that he'd clearly told my husband that we would have a half hour wait if we ordered now. My son tried to explain about the disembarking and how it had taken him a few minutes but the barman was adamant that service was finished (it was about 2.02 by now). No apology was offered and I would say without hesitation that he was rude. To turn business away especially as he saw that we had parked up and fully intended to eat and having spoken with my husband (also not alerting him that we needed to order prior to 2pm as this was the deadline, I find appalling. Impossible! My advice is give this place a wide berth! Just shocking!

The most rudest individual I have ever come across in hospitality. The restaurant it’s self looks good how ever due to the lack of manners by the boy, who was waiting we chose to turn around and walk out. He needs seriously needs retaining on his customer service. 22/09/24.

We were on holiday and chose this pub on the strength of Trip Advisor reviews. What a good choice.I had my usual gammon and egg and my wife had chicken tikka. Both meals were very well cooked and presented and certainly tasty.I enjoyed the barman’s suggestion of Sharps ale, very palatable. From the number of people using this pub it is popular and serving meals such as we had I can see why.If we are in Weymouth again we will definitely book a table.

This is a hidden treasure in Weymouth. It's a wonderful pub to have the best meal you will ever taste. The service is outstanding and the food even better. Good size portions and good value for money. The decor is a bit dated but this makes the pub so welcoming. We have eaten here a few times while on holiday and we had the Sunday lunch as well this time and it's really is amazing, the price is very good and you wouldn't get a lunch this good anywhere for the price.

Lovely pub with nice outdoor seated area and small restaurant. We ate in the restaurant one evening in the week and although the menu is small (plus a few specials on the board) the food was nice and the staff and service were good. We returned for Sunday lunch which was a bit of a disappointment compared to the meal that we had had in the week. There was a choice of pork, chicken or beef. However the vegetables which were just carrots, peas and one slice of parsnip were obviously frozen, as were the Yorkshire pudding and stuffing. The restaurant was busy, we phoned to book but the earliest we could be seated was 3.30pm. It was a Shame because we had enjoyed the meal in the week. The pub itself is a lovely traditional pub.

hot drinks unavailable “yeah you can if i could be arsed to switch it on”. The service wasn’t poor, it was outwardly obnoxious from the get go. We arrived to this pub shortly before 7pm. The bartender was rude. It wasn’t a case of crossed wires. This was a person looking for a fight and behaving obnoxiously to anyone who was available. Absolutely would not choose to go here again based on the service tonight. It was intentionally despicable.

Went to the pub for dinner one evening around 7.30pm and the restaurant was pretty much empty. The staff were very nice, friendly and polite. You have to get your drinks from the bar and can pay for them there or have them added to your bill. I'm not sure if this applies at all times. We both chose the steak and ale pie which arrived in good time. The pie was very nice, full of tender, tasty steak, the potatoes were mashed and were not particularly flavoursome and the only vegetables were peas. The restaurant lacked atmosphere and it was a bit of a nuisance having to go through to the bar to get the drinks. Our visit was pretty much as I would expect for a pub.

Absolutely disgusting customer service. We booked a Sunday roast for 3pm. We ate as a family on Friday and Saturday in the pub, upon us leaving on Saturday we actually wanted to confirm our time on Sunday for our roast which we were told it was 3pm. When we arrived on Sunday we were told there’s was no roast left. I asked to speak to someone about this a, chap came out and asked me why I was complaining about a roast I said we had booked for 3pm he said they had a run of walk ins and had sold out. So what about my booking I asked him, he was not slightest interested and just walked away. We have been going to this pub for the last 16 years to eat when we are in Weymouth never again.

Disappointing and expensive. I had the home made steak & ale pie whilst my partner had the sausage n mash. Firstly the mash was lumpy and microwaved. The strangest thing is that the pub runs a restaurant with table service but you have to go to the bar yourself to get a drink. Only reason it’s got 3 stars is the ladies who were in the restaurant were great unfortunately that was the only good thing about it.

Despite it being busy, the service was excellent - food came quickly and cleared away in good time too. Would definitely recommend and will be back.

Booked a table for 2 adults 2 children and a dog! Shown to our table, ordered food and told we have to pay and order drinks at bar….at the bar i asked for orange juice and lemonade and was given orange squash with lemonade. Ordered food and arrived literally 5 min later and was over hot indicating everything other than fried items is clearly microwaved….food was ok at best albeit cheap quality for a lot of money!! Another table turned up but this time were told they could put their drinks on their table tab (just us that couldn’t).Despite specifically stating we were bringing a dog, half way through our meal the manageress came to tell us off for being at our table with a dog telling us next time you can’t sit there….despite coming in with a dog, telling them we’re bringing one and them showing us to a table Whilst we were there the manageress was having a go at people for walking through wrong doors and then sending them back through to walk the correct way despite them being at their table! It felt more like a school dining hall than a pub/restaurant!! Lady at bar was very pleasant and the cider was good but will def not return, we couldn’t leave quick enough after paying the bill!

We were a party of 8, 4 adults and 4 children. We were on holiday and googled somewhere to have our Sunday roast dinner and this was the closest to where we were staying and they were able to accommodate us at short notice. We were shown into the snug area and asked if we needed a high chair which was promptly provided. The first problem came when we wanted to order. I asked what the vegetarian option was for the Sunday roast to be told “There isn’t one, we usually just do it without the meat” You are kidding, right????Well I’ll do that then. Then the waitress can back and said the potatoes were cooked in goose fat. I am dairy intolerant and the only other filling option for a vegetarian was a lasagne. Unfortunately I can’t eat cheese so I asked if I could have egg & chips from the children’s menu. That was ok, the chips were good and the eggs just right for dipping chips in. Everyone else enjoyed their meal from a burger and 2 roasts and kids meals were substantial for the age of the children. We asked for salt and pepper to be told there were sachets in the basket. We found just 2 and the waitress never came back so that was that. Throughout the whole meal we never had a waitress ask if there was anything else we needed. My son did ask a passing waitress if he could have another drink and she took the order and went to walk away then I asked if I could also have a drink. She never bothered asking anyone else and we couldn’t be bothered asking her to come back. As no one came to check if everything was ok we weren’t able to order more drinks and my son ended up going and asking for someone to serve us more drinks. We finished our meals and waited for our plates to be cleared. And we waited. My son then went and asked if we could order deserts. This lady came and couldn’t have been more helpful, a complete turn around, she was so friendly. After our deserts again we waited for someone to come and clear out plates. And we waited. Eventually my son went and asked again if we could pay the bill. The next lady that came was quite simply one of the rudest people I’ve met in a long time. A scrap of paper was handed to me like so…Drinks £XXFood £XXDeserts £XXTotal £XXI asked if we could have a breakdown of the bill as there were 3 different families involved. She said that she was told we were all paying together and I answered that twice I’d stated that we were all paying separately. She actually went off in a huff and as a party we decided we’d had enough of the place. It was decided that I would pay the bill, screenshot the menu and prices and work it all out when we got home. I approached the bar and unfortunately caught the rude waitress mid flow as she was talking about us. I approached the bar and asked another waitress to take the payment. As I looked around I could see that the rest of the place was virtually empty. Sunday lunchtime and everywhere else within a 10 mile radius was fully booked yet this place was not even half full. I’ll offer some advice to this establishment if I may? First rule of working in the customer service industry. Do. Not. Talk. About. Your. Customers. When. They. Are. In. Earshot. Second rule. Make sure your customers have everything they want, ask them from time to time if they would like drinks, condiments etc. Third (not so much a rule, but…)Accommodate vegetarian and vegan customers. Don’t tell a customer that there isn’t a vegetarian option with the Sunday roast. Make sure you’ve got a nut roast or veggie pie even if it’s from the freezer ready to go in the oven. It’s not 1980 when you used to have to tell a restaurant that there is a vegetarian in the party so that the chef could muster up an omelette!

When it came to leaving and elderly group came in and realised they had been seated on two tables , someone who seemed to be a supervisor came out to the front of us looking very unprofessional and all over the place then began to explain rudely to and elderly lady who did not understand why her table of 6 was split in two. Then two members of my family were talking In which she got involved saying I hope your not talking to me and he politely apologised and said he was talking to his nephew in which the rude woman replied well I hope so , had nothing to do with her whatsoever so as a result this ruined our stay and we left without any further drinks or food.

Four of us booked a table for 4pm on Sunday 13th June. Seated and served quickly though the waitress came over and said we hadn’t booked which roasts we wanted, the same waitress who took the order on Friday afternoon! Luckily they had everything still so we didn’t miss out on our choices. Food was good and everything is reasonably priced. The young waiting staff work really hard. I left a tip, popped to the loo and as I passed the table it hadn’t been cleared but the cash was gone so I hope they got it and it wasn’t pinched. We will return to this pub if we are in the area again.

We attended the Bridge Inn today for our first meal out since August last year. We had ordered two roasts which were kindly pre-booked for us as I'd booked around a week in advance and we were not able to get there until later in the day. This was a kind gesture and very much appreciated. Unfortunately beyond this point it all went a little down hill. We anticipated it would be busy as it's a bank holiday weekend, but we also anticipated they would be staffed suitably for this. When we arrived we weren't acknowledged, not even a smile or an "I'll be with you shortly." When we were acknowledged we were seated and then had a further long wait until we had our drinks order taken. At which point I mentioned the pre booked roasts. The young server said this was fine and she will inform the chef. Following this we received no further acknowledgment other than our food being given to us. No check back, no further drinks, no sauces.. nothing. I even had to get my own cutlery from a vacant table next to us. The roast.. well, I honestly thought it was a children's portion. There was nothing wrong with the quality of the food, just the quantity. I honestly couldn't believe it when the bill came and I was told this was a "medium". We left feeling hungry and disappointed. I can only assume we were one of the last portions of the day and we got whatever was left. But £10.95 each was a shock. The poor young servers were rushing around clearly over worked with no structure on sections or tables to manage. We were sat near a toilet which stank as well. The occupied table next to us also had issues which had to be chased. I would of raised these if I could of gained the attention of a server. By the time we finished we just wanted to leave. Usually we are really not ones to complain, but we felt we needed to. I don't doubt this feedback will receive some snap defensive response from the pubs GM as seen on comments below. But despite the difficult year of Covid, cutting corners on staffing and quantity doesn't seem acceptable. I hope this feedback is taken constructively.

Lovely Sunday roast for all the family. Proper traditional British pub without all the bells & whistles & no pretentiousness. Just lovely, cosy, homely great old school grub in a comfy, safe surround. Clean & great Covid policies in place. Our children love coming here. ☺️ Looking forward to visiting again soon.

We came here for an early dinner 6pm, the main menu wasn’t very thrilling but noticed steak and ale pie on the specials board, it was amazing but they had sold out by half 6 so you need to be quick, lovely location, friendly staff, what more could you want?

We visited the Bridge Inn a few times during our stay and each time, it was very pleasant. They have a one-way route through the bar and plenty of cleaning happens regularly. We ate at the pub on the Friday on our first day on holiday and we were not disappointed. Scampi & Chips, Steak and Chicken New Yorker - all the food was delicious and a generous portion too. Our rounds for the drinks averaged £26 for the 6 of us but was all alcohol (whiskey, lager, diet cokes and gins) - so I guess pretty average for a pub. We ate here again on the Sunday and had the Sunday Roast, they get extremely busy so were lucky to get a table, and the roast was nice. We had a choice of Pork, Beef or chicken and they were served with a yorkshire pudding, 4 roast potatoes and seasonal veg (carrots, peas and swede). I would recommend this pub (it's traditional in decor and mannerisms) and plenty of outside seating.

My family and i booked an evening meal at the Bridge Inn to celebrate a wedding anniversary. The man who answered the phone in the morning denied all knowledge of our booking when we all arrived and tried to blame the cleaner. All very disappointing and too late to get anywhere else. Need a proper booking system with confirmations or stop overbooking and letting down guests.

This was our first visit back to our local since before lock down and I was nervous but there was no need. The restaurant was spaced out properly and well ventilated. The staff were a joy. Both ladies in the restaurant (Mon 24/8. lunch time) were delightful and could not have been more reassuring and friendly. OK so the menu was limited compared to it's pre-lock down one but that's to be expected. They struggle to order in everything they would like and I would imagine they can't afford to over order not knowing how many people will be "walk ins". But there was enough choice. Husband had steak, I had ham, egg and chips (lovely chips and loads of ham) and our friend had what he said was delicious scampi - again a good sized portion. Wish I'd had room for the sticky toffee pudding my husband managed as the taster I had was lovely. Looking forward to going back - and to the fantastic lemon and ginger cheesecake being back on the menu.

Went there for lunch and me and my friend decided on the king prawns with lime and chilli with chips and garlic bread for £18 . They were busy but it arrived about 45 min Later , the presentation was amazing , however the sauce was very very oily and tasteless .. the whole thing had no flavour , we were very disappointed. The chips were fab and so was the garlic bread . It was such a shame . Also we had no napkins or wet wipes given to us , so it was a messy eat , don’t know if I’d return and Im A local x

Called in for lunch on a wet, miserable Sunday. Didn't intend having a full on roast but they looked so good we felt we should try them. We weren't disappointed. We went for the standard size ( you could have a small appetites one or a two meats one for less or more money) and I opted for beef whereas husband chose the pork. The meals came pretty quickly seeing as the place was full up. We hadn't booked but it seemed like many people do as lots of the tables had reserved signs on. Our meats were excellent and the plates piled high with veggies - cabbage, carrots, Swede and parsnips plus roast potatoes of course. Lots of all of them but they could've done with being a bit hotter (roast spuds were very hot but the other veg weren't). Husband had plenty of gravy on his pork but my meal was very dry, just a bit of gravy in the Yorkshire pudding, none on the rest of the plate which made it a bit of a struggle to get through. I'll be brave another time and ask nicely if I can please have some gravy but they were busy at this time so I didn't want to be a pain.

I found Daniel's Chickerell the day I moved in to my new home in June 2021, looking for a quick takeaway chippy. What a find! Really excellent food. The portions and range of food is great, well cooked and the staff are efficient and friendly. Since then my family have always had our fish and chips from here. I've also used the Littlemoor shop and it's the same there. Daniels is my go-to chippy always.
