The Bridge Cafe in East Hertfordshire

We visited today for a light meal at lunchtime , and as usual with this establishment we were Not disappointed. Excellent food cooked to order for both of us . The Proprietor was His usual friendly and helpful self too

Arrived to an empty cafe ( should have been a warning) sat down and ordered to then be told that they are an cash only if you know what I mean had to order then run up the road to the cash point On returning asked to use the toilets to wash my hands was told that the toilets were all out of order had to run back up the road to the shopping centre to find they weren’t open returned to the cafe to find the food on the table getting cold ( it didn’t look to clever either) Told them I now didn’t want it and was met with silence and intimidation Was then told if I need the toilet to use the cafe around the corner So that’s what we did begrudgingly paid for nothing to safe a argument and left We went to the cafe around the corner excellent coffee and service

Great service quickly cooked and fresh to order and deffo get your money’s worth great start to the day thank you to all your team will be back

Re visited this little cafe f a late Breakfast . As usual good quality food cooked to order , with friendly management and staff . A cheap and cheerful cafe that does good food and generous portions . Well recommended for a quick “bite to eat”

My parents and I have been eating here for almost fifteen years and it hasn't disappointed any of us yet. I've long since moved but my parents love this establishment and its friendly staff who know them by name and welcome them warmly each time. Inexpensive and the food is wonderful! A great place to visit for a value for money meal . Their Breakfast includes coffee and Toast or Bread & Butter . All meals are cook to order , the staff are friendly , and the chef m cooks the Best Mushrooms in Bishops’s Stortford

This place is fantastic. We go every week, usually after swimming, with out two children. The the food is cooked brilliantly and the service is superb. The staff are always lovely to our children and its a joy going there. Just a local gem.

Went to the Bridge cafe feeling the need for a good breakfast. I was not dissapointed. Sausage 2 eggs 2 bacon hash browns and mushrooms served with coffee and 2 rounds of toast. All served quickly and piping hot all for £7. A real treat at a bargain price.

Loads of breakfast options, something for everyone. I had the standard, unpretentious, traditional fry up. Reasonable size plate of food and everything was tasty. Nice location. Friendly people, seemed to wave at everyone who drove past so nice community feeling. Remember to bring cash - although there is a cash machine on the first floor in the shopping centre next door.

Worst jacket potato my girlfriend has ever had not even mayo on the tuna or butter. My breakfast all tasted the same and was swimming in fat. Egg were cooked to an inch of there life

I absolutely love this cafe, whether I’m eating in or take food away. I use it quite often as I live and have a business very close by and nothing is too much hassle. The staff are efficient and friendly, the food is served very quickly and is always tasty and I feel lucky to have this place right on my doorstep. Thank you so much for your service and food :)

Have been in here with family, friends and work colleagues and it never fails to disappoint. We had English breakfast - SET 3 (you have the possibility to swap some items without be charged extra) with coffee or tea included. Staff are friendly and attentive.

Yet another happy visit to the Bridge Cafe, breakfast on this occasion. Staff were as friendly and efficient as usual, food was hot and well cooked and delivered very quickly. prices are very reasonable which makes it very affordable for meeting up with the kids etc for a bite to eat without breaking the bank. I will definately be returning again.

As a electrician me and my colleagues have been to numerous cafes but I’ve never experienced food this shocking that I’ve needed to write a review. Egg was somehow burnt on the outside and raw on the inside. I ordered set 10 however they decided I didn’t want chips and swapped it with a strange potato paste. My colleague had beans with what looked like tomato water. Do yourselves a favour and AVOID

Great cafe, location is easy for parking opposite in Waitrose. Staff are always friendly “Down to earth”‘people! I’ve been to many cafes across Herts, and this is one of the best! Basic food food is not difficult. I ordered a chicken salad, thinking that it would be impossible to do badly - wrong - the chicken was thin bits of soggy meat, the coleslaw was like sloppy tasteless mush, but the worst thing was the plate was swimming in water. The other meal was scampi - which mus have been the from the cheapest wholesaler on the planet - that too was inedible.

I came here with my dad after shopping, all the staff seemed a bit grumpy and they forgot our drinks. I asked for cheesy chips and i got grated cheese on chips. I ask them to melt in and they put it in the microwave. Hygiene was average.

Keep changing menu prices more expensive every time I go in there it’s like they put prices up every week!!

Me and my wife have occassionally been to this cafe. We often work out the total cost of the breakfast before paying as they have over charged us in the past. On the menu, it clearly states that you can swap a maximum of two items on a set breakfast. Don't believe this as you will be charged extra and if you query this they will say that you did not explain it well enough to the waitress, hence you will lose out on two items from your breakfast and charged for two extra items. To add insult to injury as we were leaving the cafe one of the staff members said politely goodbye, the male behind the counter could be overheard saying "don't say good bye to them". Due to this last experience we will not be visiting again.

My girlfriend and I use Bridge street cafe about 2-3 times a week, sometimes just for a coffee and a chat, other times for a light breakfast. The welcome that we get is always a warm one, they are really nice and genuine people who make you feel really welcome.I would recommend their Omelettes, The Turkish one is first class, quiet partial to a cheese and mushroom one too, The poached eggs are perfect on brown toast and a salad on the side, which is always crispy and fresh. The Menu really does cater for everyone, it is extensive and I have tried most dishes here...Always well cooked and presented.We don't even bother with crowded Wetherspoons anymore, Bridge Street beat them on service hands down and the food is better in my opinion, a much more relaxed atmosphere, great sitting outside in the Spring and summer too!A true Gem of Bishops Stortford that has been running for a long time and no doubt will carry on pleasing the locals and visitors for many more to come.Well done Guys....See you all soon.Paul & Lisa x

Not a place I would recommend , food was a bit greasy and slightly over cooked . A busy little cafe , sometimes it is good but more often , not so .

I have yet to have a bad breakfast here. Staff are always very attentive and can highly recommend the Ham Omelette! Be advised if you have not visited before, this cafe is cash only. Looking forward to my next hangover cure here soon!

meal was ok. The portions were a bit too small on the childs menu. didnt realise it was cash only, luckily had some cash on me. Apart from from that, it was a good visit. would go again.

Visited for the first time last Saturday and wished I had been before, food was cooked to perfection, great friendly service and fairly priced, will definitely go again.

This is a popular genuine greasy spoon and one of the few independent eateries left in Stortford so I like to support it. Prompt service, good portions, honest value. Clean and busy, gives Wetherspoons a run for its money.

Fabulous unpretentious fried and grilled plates of assorted food designed to feed and satisfy the biggest of an empty stomachs - washed down with mugs of hot builders brew tea and/or black or white coffee + quick friendly service to boot. One word of warning: don't expect to pay at the end by card or cheque!

Arriving starving at Stansted from foreign parts and needing a Transport Cafe experience we found this place only ten minutes drive from Long-stay Parking. The cafe suggests parking across the street in the Waitrose Car Park. Very rapidly decent coffees and great breakfasts appeared - all wishes fulfilled! Be aware it is _Cash Only_

We had a really nice freshly cooked breakfast on our visit Friday morning . Stating the day off to a good start.

The staff are quick, helpful and friendly. The tables and chairs and floor are clean whenever you visit. The menu is exactly what you would expect from this cafe, but it's well-cooked, hot, and comes quickly. Would reccomend.

The Bridge is a great place for a Saturday or Sunday Breakfast. The portions are good and the food is excellent. Tea and coffee to top the meal, The price is reasonable, the service is good and the ambience is what I would expect from a café. Well worth a breakfast!

Fantastic range of food. Cheap and tasty. Excellent staff. Great team coffee ect. Very clean. Toilets clean. Child friendly. Good outside area at front. Watching the world go by. Noisy but it is on edge of main road. Really couldn't ask for more.

This has to be one of my all time go to places to eat in Stortford. The service is always polite and helpful. The food reasonably priced with good sized portions and very tasty. Totally recommended.

Despite a slightly tacky look to the place, the food is excellent and the proportions are massive; especially for their price. It is one of the cheaper places to eat in the town yet still great quality. I would definitely suggest it. Unfortunately the building is pretty small so can get a little loud when full but there are seats outside which are lovely to sit at and watch the world go by.

A brief walk through the Town Centre of Bishop's Stortford at about 9:00 confirmed my partner and I's worst fears: as lovely as the town is, we could find nowhere amazing-looking for breakfast before the long ride up to Birmingham on public transport. This cafe looked like your standard generic greasy sub-par plastic eatery outside, but it had a discount sign up outside for their spaghetti bolognese and looked popular, we decided to try it over the few other options available.
