Mini hen do for older family/friends. Diane and the staff at the Brasserie were great Diane arranged for us to have either afternoon tea or stands of cakes/scones and different sandwiches for the bride. She set the table nicely and kept an area for just us at the back. We all had a fabulous time. Lovely surroundings, loads of parking as the Spa is attached to the main hotel. Would recommend. Thank you ladies

My wife and I shared three tapas dishes and although freshly cooked, we were very disappointed with the patatas bravas. They lacked any spiciness, as no garlic or paprika had been used. The tomato sauce was straight from a tin of chopped tomatoes. Prices a little high for the quality. Service however was very friendly, although the food did take quite a while to be brought out.

the service was spot on, voucher for free drink welcomed, lovely staff quick on drinks but the club sandwich was too chunky, not on a paninni as expected and my friend send her crispy beef dish back as it was very chewy. This is no reflection of the food in the Lawns restaurant as the food in there is spot on.

Having, as usual, started asking questions about the menu options, suitability for a gluten and dairy free diet etc, the waitress returned to the kitchen. She returned a couple of minutes later with the chef who was then able to discuss options and advise what she could offer me. The food was great, freshly prepared and some of the best chips I've ever had! We will definitely be back. I couldn't have asked for better service.

We went to the Brasserie for the tapas lunch, great choice including a vegetarian selection, we had crab croquet, salt and pepper chips, whitebait, chorizo and Mediterranean veg, meatballs and chicken thighs, 3 tapas for £15, all good sized portions and delicious. The staff were very friendly and attentive and when we ordered our coffees brought out a plate with 'Happy Birthday' and a selection of brownies and flapjack - really nice thought. Lovely location, great food, this was our first visit but will be back!

Comfortable and relaxing restaurant with reasonable prices considering the class of hotel that it is part of, the Tapas menu is quite typical of ones you experience in Spain but the flavours and taste were missing somewhat but we couldn’t but our finger on what exactly what it was but after saying that we all enjoyed it. Tapas start at about £6 per small portion but there also paella’s for two and the usual steaks and burgers.

Thornton Hall had January specials deals in the Spa and my wife persuaded me to indulge with her. After our treatments we went to the Brasserie for lunch and it was a delight. Really friendly staff who were attentive and efficient. Our table overlooked the gardens and the views were tranquil. The food was well cooked and an enormous amount of French fries accompanied our burgers. We will be back for sure

Thank you to Michelle and Hannah for hosting a more than enjoyable meal. It is usually quite difficult when eating out for our family, due to health conditions and dietary demands. But both Michelle and Hannah tailored to our families preferences, making it a really enjoyable meal for everyone. We booked dinner bed and breakfast at this hotel and we were booked into the Brasserie by the hotel I felt the eatery wasn't really the standard for a four star hotel. The food was mediocre. I ordered ham croquettes to start, tasty but cold. My main course was steak and I felt was oven chips! I felt that the food was mediocre and the service wasn't the best, two people serving and long wait when it got busy. I was not impressed

Was skeptic at first as usually lunches included with spas aren’t very good (usually something like a sandwich and a drink) but I was impressed. I had an omelette with chips to share and he had a burger, followed by cake too! It was just the right amount, food was lovely, staff were friendly! We made little changes to our order but they were more than happy to accommodate. We weren’t charged for the changes neither! Football was on at the time, World Cup, but guests were given headphones to listen to it so that other guests like me who hates football were not disturbed! Happy couple

We dined here for my Nan’s birthday on 31/07/18. Food as always was delicious, we had a mixture of tapas between the 5 of us. I always find their specials to be worth a try despite the menu being quite vast. What made our meal so special was the service by Wendy. This woman is absolutely incredible and an asset to any hospitality establishment. Wendy engaged with our table from helping us choose wines to bringing us outside to take family photos on the lawns whilst waiting for our meal. Nothing was too much trouble for her and she continued to go the extra mile with a smile on her face. This lady has an incredible talent for making any event a unique and memorable one. We had brought our Nana a birthday cake and candles, this was served on a beautifully decorated plate with additional sweet treats. This is the best service we had had in the brasserie and long may it continue. I hope Wendy encourages her team to be as open, engaging and as charismatic as she is. Thanks again xx

Decided to try out the Brasserie restaurant in the Thornton Hough hotel. On the positive side it’s a pleasantly decorated dining room, fairly relaxed with friendly staff but it is not really an evening dining destination. We went on a Friday evening and it was empty for the bulk of the time until a couple of others came in later on - so lacked any atmosphere. It’s restaurant image is not helped by the entry point (via the spa/gym door), the presence of a tv showing sky news and the paper napkins. The menu is a strange mix of Spanish tapas, pub type main courses and some specials to celebrate the Chinese New Year. Food quality was ok but nothing memorable – eg the “hand carved iberico ham” seemed very like the stuff you buy in a supermarket. In hindsight we probably made a mistake going in the evening – it probably does very well during the daytime with gym/spa members and lunchtime visitors but as an evening experience forget it.

Very over priced and not worth it all! We had a cold meat platter - 3 bits of each meat (from a supermarket type mixed meat pack) a few olives and some bread - REALLY not worth the money. A main portion of mussels contained about 15 over cooked tiny mussels, and a seafood paella containing 5 prawns and 6 tiny mussels with about 6 spoons of rice is not worth £18!!!!! A real disappointment!

For a sports "restaurant" built into a spa, but part of a major hotel and high class dining, I have to say that the brasserie is fantastic. I have stayed here a few times, and cannot talk myself into the high priced "Lawns" restaurant, which I am assured is excellent, but compared to a relaxed atmosphere and superb food from a local chef, it doesn't give me enough incentive. Being Scottish, I always gauge restaurants on simple food such as fish and chips, if they can't do that right, what can they do ? I have to admit, I would be hard pushed to find a nicer, fresher fish than here, I also had the Tapas, amazing Sea Bass with large portions for Tapas. All prepared immaculately and professionally served by Mike Dowd and his very capable and friendly staff. I look forward to coming back, I just wish I had the nerve to try something else other than the fish.

Being heavily into the tapas scene we had an underwhelming lunch, believing that as part of a 4-star hotel we would be in for a treat. Not so. A meagre 8 hardly authentic 'tapas' dishes were on offer which were on the small side and at 4 star prices. To be fair, this is a fine eatery, we have been here before, when we experienced high standards in all respects. Wife & I would not rule this place out for future dining experiences and we could see ourselves coming back...........but it won't be for the tapas which has in our opinion been tacked on to offer variety and it isn't working. Sorry to be so negative but also have to say that the service was dilatory. Waiting staff and chefs we saw seemed bored and wishing they somewhere else, and patently their hearts were not in it.

I may be a picky person but having lived in Spain I do know something about tapas. On arrival in the brasserie we spotted the jamon (whole cured leg of ham) and confidently ordered the Spanish platter- Imagine our disappointment when we were served "plastic" meat that had obviously come out of a packet, the manchego cheese was stale and the olives poor- NOT my idea of a Spanish platter. when I queried the meat serving the waiter informed me that he could not serve the hand carved Jamon because it had been "out" for 2 days. As a regular festive gathering, our extended family (13 in all), decided this year to attend the festive carvery lunch on Christmas Day at Thornton Hall. We live locally, know all the local hotels and have previously enjoyed Christmas lunch at many of them. We have also used Thornton Hall for numerous, special family occasions. So it was a great surprise to find that the service, food and surroundings, did not meet our expectations (for a 4 star award winning hotel). We appreciated that as a carvery it was to be a more relaxed, less formal affair, but did not expect what we encountered:-No festive decoration. No festive music, or atmosphere. In fact, if not for some diners wearing festive jumpers, there was no evidence of a "Christmas" occasion at all!Admittedly there wasn't "silver service", but there was a sparse service, which came across as youngsters working temporarily for the day. There was clearly no experience, no knowledge, and no enthusiasm in making it a "special occasion".As we were all sorely disappointed, we wrote to the General Manager putting our points across, but received a reply with a very brief apology and a "couldn't care less" attitude. For £65 per head, we felt that this was poor value for money. If you don't mind paying this to sit in what felt like a staff canteen, it's your choice. We however will not be returning.

The jacket potato with prawns and Marie Rose dressing (unremarkable) was solid in the middle. The chicken in the Cesar salad tasted as if it had been roasted overnight and then left out in the hot sun. Basically unfit for consumption. When we drew it to the manager's attention he did apologize and leave it off the bill.We were also offered cakes/dessert which I assume would have been a good will gesture but declined the offer.
