Lovely warm atmosphere, friendly, welcoming service. The pizzas are creative and delicious. The cocktails are very well mixed. Highly recommended!

I'm sorry I have to say this but I just had a terrible time at your place. I paid £15 for a pizza with literally hardly any toppings on. Like a smidgeon of cheese. I ordered sweet potato bites and had wedges delivered. Then to be told you don't sell sweet potato bites "even though they're on your menu" And the chicken wings which everyone hyped up were well overcooked and were compensated with a ridiculous amount of average sauce. 3/10 would never recommend.

Terrible food and very disappointing. After reading these reviews and looking on the website, we were anticipating very high quality pizza and overall a good experience. We ordered 3 pizzas and seasoned potatoes, and this was incredibly overpriced for the standard of the food that we received. For such a place that prides itself on serving only pizzas and salads, there was a very limited selection of pizzas as well as toppings, with popular toppings like ham and mushrooms not even being offered, which was a letdown. When the food did arrive, all of the pizzas were burnt. The base of all of the pizzas were burnt in several places and we had try to find small pieces which we could eat. The margarita in particular was the worst, with a few slices being left due to being inedible. We also ordered the highly overpriced seasoned potatoes at £5.95, which we were convinced by the waiter were seasoned with 'cumin and paprika', but they weren't even seasoned with salt and pepper. I have had plenty of cheaper and better potatoes and I can assure you that despite the price, these are definitely not the best potatoes in the world. When complaining to the staff about our burnt pizzas, they apologised and offered another pizza, but by that time, it was too late. For the price that we paid, the food was not only of an average standard, but it was also burnt. As a chef, you don't serve burnt food to customers. When we came to pay, the waitress apologised that "the food was not to our taste". Who would enjoy eating carcinogenic burnt food? This was quite insulting, and after complaining again about our burnt pizzas, we were only offered a few pounds off the bill. The final amount was completely unjustified for what we ate, and considering that we received burnt pizzas, incredibly disappointing. Compliments to the chef!

I was very impressed with the quality of the food and the friendly staff. There was a warm welcome for the children and nothing seemed too much trouble. Pizzas and cocktails were delicious. We felt lucky to find it and it was a great way to end our day.

Came here with my friends and the food was absolutely delicious. The service was great and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. When one of my friends was unsure of her cocktail they gave her a different one and took it off the bill! Very thoughtful! We ordered a range of pizzas and every single one was fantastic. Would return again soon! :)

Strange place, if you're going for artisan pizza this does not come close to the best around - Da'Mara, Scaramantica, Gastro Mania (well worth the trip to Caerphilly) and Dough Thrower. Nowhere near. Those restaurants are cooking first class, authentic Italian, wood fired pizzas - try those to know the standard to judge by. The dough at Brass Beetle is decent (for a gas (not wood) fired oven) but the toppings are really lacking. We ordered 3 different pizzas, all were exceedingly sweet and over burdened. They just didn't work. Dough Thrower is expert at making modern toppings work, if looking for that. If you're going for cocktails, these are really excellent but very expensive. We asked if we could get proper Nduja on two pizzas, not vegan and were told "yes" (after checking with the chef) but we were then given vegan Nduja on both. One pizza, we asked for olives but were bizarrely given these as a starter. So service was confused. We also ordered the Canoli which were listed as a special on the menu - what we got did not resemble a Canoli. A Canoli is a large, deep fried hard pastry shell filled with whipped ricotta cream. What we were given were two very small peanut brittle biscuits filled with sickeningly heavy Nutella/Snickers filling. Just awful and so disappointing. This is the equivalent of calling a dog a cat. We won't go back, but with the choice of superb authentic pizzas elsewhere in the area; we don't need to.

The food was delicious (especially the wings) and they have a great cocktail menu. There's a really good atmosphere and the staff are super friendly. Good night out and good vibes all around. I shall return!

We had a fabulous meal here on a busy Friday night. Lauren and her team were super friendly as always and we had some delicious cocktails at the bar, before being seated in the restaurant for a couple of great pizzas! A really enjoyable evening - we will definitely be back again very soon!

Thank you to The Brass Beetle for a hosting a wonderful pizza party for my daughters 9th birthday. Manager Lauren and the Chef made it such a fun, engaging and unique birthday experience. The children got to create their own pizza and watch them go into the very cool giant pizza oven. All of the children had an amazing time, and my daughter said it was her best birthday party yet. Can’t recommend highly enough. Thank you to all.

Brass Beatle is my favourite restaurant in Cardiff. Having lived in the area I would go there a lot. Sadly, I've moved further and don't get to go as much anymore. Summing up: if you like filling and delicious pizza and brilliant cocktails you should book a table now! I promise you wont regret it. Lauren and the staff are some of the nicest people I've met and they will ensure you are well taken care of :)

We had a wonderful evening here in July - an evening of fantastic cocktails. Nothing was too much trouble, the service exceptional. Would highly recommend.

When i booked this i had got the wrong end of the stick and thought this was more of a cocktail bar so we had actually eaten before hand whoops. When it was obvious it had more restaurant vibes we got a pizza to share as didnt want too much, but absolutely no regrets the pizza was incredible! We also tried a good range of the cocktails which were all super delicious too, decorated with beautiful flowers. The staff were all really lovely, leaving good amounts of time between checking on us and made us feel very welcome. Shall happily return, this time with empty stomachs!

Great service. Cocktails on special were all great to try. Pizzas could have done with more punch and toppings . A bit more of everything needed on pizza really. A 'buzz' about the place however not much in the way of items to absorb the noise so can be difficult to hear. Enjoyed the visit .

Great pizza and cocktails, lovely décor - we’ve been ordering takeaway pizzas from them recently and they are delicious and well priced, especially compared to some other places in Cardiff (Dough Thrower - I’m looking at you). Good unusual toppings and nice vegan options.

Wood oven fired pizza is really good- but the small plates are fantastic. Probably the best chicken wings in Wales. Some very nice classic cocktails as well.

Easily the most delicious pizza in Cardiff. The halloumi fries are incredible. The service is outstanding and the decor is gorgeous. Highly recommend going here on a date night, with friends or with family and they even have a cute garden where dogs are welcome, what’s not to love?

Been to the brass beetle a number of times since it opened up the road from me. Each time me and my family return we are welcomed with an even better experience! The most recent experience was for my 20th bday. A friend came to visit me from out of town, and of course I had to have them experience the exquisite cocktails the brass beetle has to offer! The cocktails are decently priced and not watered down with ice, AMAZING QUALITY! (And if you’re a light weight like me, will be tipsy after just after one!) they also have a happy hour 2 for 1, which makes this a great spot for those who are students or don’t have money to spare on cocktails. Me and my friend were offered a free shot by the owner to celebrate my birthday, which I thought was amazingly generous and highlights the wonderful customer experience of the place!

I visited Brass Beetle last night with a group of friends and we were so impressed all around! From making the booking everything was just so easy and ran so smoothly. The staff were very friendly without being overbearing, it was perfect service in our opinions. We had pizzas, chicken wings and halloumi fries and everything was just spot on. The flavours were interesting and all cooked beautifully. We all had cocktails from their menu and they were all very inventive - we all enjoyed the drinks we picked. All in all, we can't wait to come back for more!

Worst pizza base I have ever tasted. It was hard and chewy and simply could not eat it. I asked the waitress if it was meant to be like that (She could see by my face that I wasn't impressed) and she said yes, it's because it's gluten free. Wasn't impressed with her response that nothing was done, and also it's a bit of an insult saying your food doesn't taste great because it's gluten free. Especially people who have no choice but to eat gluten free due to a serious medical condition.

A small place not to bring more than two or three people to! We had large gin cocktails on the comfy sofas whilst waiting for over table next door where we had a few light sides before heading off to town. It was a fab start to a night out and the decor was a cut above. Alas there were a few too many of us to enjoy the full benefit of the low key classy atmosphere but we will femember for next time! More of a cosy romantic spot than a loud bar and what a breath of fresh air

When my house mate was promoted, pizza and halloumi fries were the natural way to celebrate. Fantastic food, and very fast service. Dominos eat your heart out.

Lovely restaurant with a creative and delicious cocktail menu, it was hard to choose. Starters were to die for, you need to try the halloumi fries (best I’ve ever tasted) and the chicken wings!! Got the honey salami pizza and thought I’d gone to food heaven. 10/10

Visited with friends who found this place online due to excellent vegan choice and none of us were disappointed. Clean, cosy and welcoming modern venue with lovely staff whose service was excellent throughout. The vegetarian blue cheese pizza was absolutely amazing, as were all pizzas we ordered - large, fresh and excellent quality. 2 for £10 cocktails until 8 was the icing on the cake. Would definitely go back.

I went into this restaurant to try their wood fire pizza only to walk in and be greeted by a barking dog! The dog was literally situated on the couch with a "doggie blanket" underneath it. After being disgusted by the sight the lady sat us down to the dirtiest table in the facility. After looking around and enduring the stench we decided to leave the place. Unfortunately, I never got a chance to taste their food but I will not regret it. Whoever is the owner needs to understand that having a pet around food is extremely unhygienic.

So to start i would say that the meal itself is pretty tasty and the pizzas are decent but this I'm sure is down to how much salt is in the meal.

Not the first time to visit this establishment. The food (pizza) was again excellent and the staff are very friendly. I would thoroughly recomend a visit. It was also easy to find a paking space in the evening after 6 o’clock.

The staff at The Brass Beetle are excellent. Their service was excellent from the time we arrived until we left. They were able to make the event a memorable occasion. The pizza was excellent - not had a better one anywhere else. We would go back again. This sounds too good to be true but it is a genuine comment.

Came here back in June with my husband. We visited on a weekday lunchtime so it was very quiet so had very good service. We ordered pizza which was excellent, best pizza in Cardiff. Not totally sure how it would be visiting in the evening when it's busy, but we really had a pleasant dining experience and loved the food.

My partner and i called in for a few drinks last night. We didnt eat as we hadnt long eaten yet wer definately going to call in again soon, as the food smelt amazing! On arrival we were greeted from the bar by friendly staff and offered the drinks list. Being a cocktail lover, i ordered a cocktail whilst my partner ordered a beer. There was a broad selection of tasty cocktails. There were choices of mocktails to offer also. Once chosen, ordered and seated our drinks were brought to us. Staff were also very accomodating. The vibe in the bar was cool, music was playing and though the bar wasnt really busy there was a nice atmosphere. The drinks list was priced just right. Drinks were gorgeous and we highly enjoyed our time at The Brass Beetle. We look forward to going back in the near future. Highly recommend anyone going there be it just for coffee, cocktails or food.

Was really excited to try this place out but it didn’t blow me away. Ordered food and drinks pretty quickly after being seated however the drinks didn’t come until after the food had arrived, even though other tables who’d ordered after us had received their drinks. The pizza was nice though with good options to choose from.

Had takeaway pizza twice now, fairly reasonable in price and beats dominos hands down, want to pop in soon for a meal and try the cocktail menu

We had a lovely meal here, the pizzas were excellent and I'm amazed that they even managed to make a broccoli topping taste delicious. We over-ordered on the sides but I'm glad we tried the halloumi fries as these were the best I've ever eaten. Cocktails were also good and the service was very attentive.

This was my second visit to the restaurant and its fast becoming one of my favourites. The staff were really friendly and the pizzas delicious. I had the chorizo and honey pizza and my boyfriend the one with chicken and jalapeños. We had the halloumi fries last time which were yummy but on this occasion we went for the coleslaw which was on the specials board. Not many places serve the Pornstar martini cocktail which is my favourite so I was pleased it was still on the menu. All in all a lovely experience and we'll be back! :o)

This was my second visit here: I had previously been not long after they opened and not been blown away with the pizzas (but nothing really negative to say either).

I was an hour early to work and was looking for a place to have a coffee . I could bet they do food as well but popped in and said I want just a coffee and was welcomed with a smile. Must say I had a bad experience in an Italian restaurant, which is why I asked this time.

Just popped in on a Wednesday evening for a first time visit with my son. Decor really classy. Staff really friendly. Staff quick to come to our table and offer us drinks and food. We ordered a Margarita Pizza. You can see the guys making it fresh in huge pizza oven. The pizza arrived quickly and looked and tasted amazing. Good price too. Would 100% recommend this eatery on the cool trendy Whitchurch Road Cardiff. We will be back.

Walked in no booking required, lovely atmosphere. Staff were extremely welcoming and informative without feeling overbearing or pushy. Menu isn’t vast but doesn’t need to be as aside from a margherita some really unusual (& no doubt delicious) topping options. Also multiple vegan & gluten free options :). Cocktail menu looked amazing but as it was a school night decided to stick to a glass of house rosé which was excellent. We couldn’t fault the pizzas they were fantastic! Will definitely be back

I’ll keep it short but...By far best pizza I’ve eaten, dough incredible, and the smoky cheese upon cougettes is spot on. To see it be made from scratch beside you is also part of enjoyment.

I went there recently with a few friends. The restaurant was recommended as a good new place to visit. Must admit that didn’t know much about the place before the visit. So, I wasn’t biased. And, I was surprised to see that it’s a very nicely looking pizzeria. There is a good choice of stone baked pizzas for everyone’s taste. Reasonable priced. Good service, good location.

Visited with a friend for an evening meal. Was a bit disappointed initially with the small menu, but we both found a pizza we wanted quite quickly as they all sounded good. We were not disappointed, they were both very tasty. The staff were friendly. Quite a small place and it was very noisy as there were about four other tables full of women chatting loudly - but that is not the restaurant fault. We moved into the front bar area for dessert and cocktails which was nice. The cocktails are reasonably priced and very good.

Pizzas are fresh, large and the menu has a good variety. The food is reasonably priced, and there is a good variety of other foods. Table service was a bit of a downside.

If you like pizza with a difference you have to visit here. Toppings nothing like you will get anywhere else. Good selection of salads and side dishes washed down with a cocktail or two. Very helpful staff but can be a little noisy

We came to the Brass Beetle as a couple with our grown up kids for a lovely Sunday evening feast as we live locally. We found the service was superb and the pizza was delicious! We had the vegan breakfast pizza , chorizo pizza , vegan courgette and aubergine pizza and the vegan margarita with sides of garlic alioi, green pepper, jalapeño and chilli oil dips. The pizzas were cooked perfectly and we also had some cocktails which were top class. The staff are all lovely and friendly and the atmosphere and music in the restaurant made our night. Thanks so much guys and we will recommend The Brass Beetle to all our friends and family. This restaurant is very vegan and vegetarian friendly too.

I regularly visit the Brass Beetle when I have a hankering for pizza. They have a few set classic pizzas as well as a specials board which has been different everytime I’ve visited. They always have something exciting on the go. They are very accommodating to special food requirements (gluten free, Vegan etc).

Great cocktails.....great service......so glad we found this place.....nly had drinks tonight but will be eating there next time. Bar staff so welcoming.......

First visit have passed by a few times so was looking forward to visiting. My husband ordered the roasted pepper pizza I ordered the Gluten Free Chorizo pizza with halloumi fries to start. Inside is airy and contemporary with 7 tables. We visited on a Tuesday evening and it was getting quite busy.

We had a party of four and shared four delicious pizzas between us. We were especially impressed by the roast cauliflower and the ham hock ones, but the others were excellent too. We also had some tasty cocktails and a side salad which went down well. There was only one white wine choice but it was also very enjoyable. The staff were very friendly and helpful and created a lovely atmosphere. I'd absolutely visit again. Thanks!

I've been to the Brass Beetle a few times now, and they never disappoint. I need to visit again soon actually! The cocktails are always top notch and the staff go out of their way to make sure they're of the highest standard. They've also good a good wine selection (and I'm a bit of a red wine snob). The pizzas on offer are different, but oh so tasty. If you really don't want something on there, then it isn't an issue. I just love how friendly everyone is there and how much the staff seem to get along and enjoy their jobs.It's worth a visit if you want to try somewhere new and a little bit different.

Been here a few times now, the pizza is very tasty, service is quick and efficient, great staff, atmosphere is nice, nice temperature so definitely deserves the 5 star review. We love coming here and will continue visiting this lovely place.

Came here for Valentine's Day and had such a lovely time. The staff were really welcoming and the food was amazing. Pizzas and sides were an incredibly reasonable price too.

Great pizzas, although sadly they were out of the cockles one which sounded fab. Drinks were lovely, if a bit expensive, and service got a bit overwhelmed, with rather long waits for drinks. Maybe teething problems but easy to sort and turn into a 5 star place. Maybe with a beer or cocktail offer thrown in..!

I visited with my boyfriend and a friend and we all had a pizza each and shared haloumi fries. The pizzas were delicious and a good size. There was a limited menu though so not too much choice. I was also not many different sides to choose from but I had heard good things about the haloumi fries, so we chose to try them out for ourselves. They were tasty but nothing special.The cocktails were very nice but quite expensive.

Went with a group of friends as had heard good noises about The Brass Beetle. The food and service was decent on what was a busy evening so kudos to the staff for juggling everything. The only point I would raise is there could be more choice as the menu is limited. That said it wouldn't put me off returning again, just a pointer for the future :)

I really wanted to like The Brass Beetle, having been excited to try it out for weeks. We finally went last night (Tues 19th). Perhaps we caught them on an off night, or maybe they were simply short-staffed. Admittedly they were busy, but to be told by the single solitary waitress that there would be about a twenty minute wait and to still be sat there an hour later without food is not good enough. To have no update on the situation, any customer care e.g. checking we were OK for drinks, no offer of cutlery or black pepper when the food finally arrived, is disappointing. To request a cranberry juice only to be told they've run out, when Co-op is thirty seconds walk away, suggests a problem with staffing levels. For this cranberry juice to still appear on the bill, along with six pizzas when there were only five of us, demonstrates a lack of professionalism. To leave a tip in spite of everything, only for said tip to be barely acknowledged, doesn't make one feel that one's custom is valued. I feel that last night's waitress needs some serious retraining if the Brass Beetle wants to tempt repeat custom. A shame.

We had an excellent sunday afternoon pizza, the service was fantastic. The sauces, dips and pizzas themselves all tasted wonderful. The chef took the time to speak to us as we were leaving and told us all about his pizza oven, and was.understandably proud of his trade. We'd definitely go back. Absolutely mega Sunday afternoon scoff.

First of all I just thought I’d say the cocktails are incredible, was totally blown away by the selection along with the quality, now on to the pizza.

This is well worth a visit; our cocktails were excellent, but would have been nice to have lounge seating for 6 before sitting at the table. Staff was top notch and attentive. Pizzas were very good not great, and also let down by cheap cutlery. Thin crust pizzas need sharp knives, as I suggested to the staff, not hopeless cutlery. Pizzas tasted great though and will definitely be back soon as the place is great and deserves to succeed. Look forward to seeing them expand the menus with some healthier salad options, also.

Visited with a friend mid week, no booking needed though restaurant was quite busy, and selection of pizzas was excellent with some really different toppings-we ordered sweet chorizo/hot honey pizza, and Italian fennel sausage pizza both of which were very good-and the halloumi fries were perfect with jalepeno sauce. With drinks/beers bill for 2 came to around £34. Service was prompt and attentive-would definitely go back for more pizza! Thanks :-)

Came to visit some friends and was recommended here and it did not disappoint! I had the sweet chorizo pizza and it was one of the best I’ve ever had. The salted caramel cocktail was amazing and there was a huge variety of other drinks and food specials to pick from. The decor was perfect for getting together with friends and the staff were very attentive. We will definitely be back!

Lunch was fantastic. Great service with incredible food. The lunch time menu offered up some different choices to what you would expect on a pizza but they were percect. My wife had garlic lentils and tomatoes which worked so well. I had blue cheese and wild mushroom which was probably one of the best pizzas I've ever tasted. The cheesy garlic bread was beyond words. I'd also recommend the humous and halloumi fries. I'll definitely be going back here.

Went with my family the other night, first impressions are good the place looks the part and is decorated well.

I was a bit disappointed when we first visited, as although the service was very friendly, the food took an age to come out, and when it did, the pizzas were tasty but very doughy.
