Porter's in Cardiff

I was only here for a short while but I love this venue already! Good beer, great place for a DJ set, aesthetically pleasing- lovely low lighting. Look forward to coming again!

Really lovely place to go. Staff are lovely and very welcoming. Meg was great at sorting out the projector for the football and was also very funny and friendly. Definitely somewhere to go. Amazing x

The foxy Roxie's held a magnificent event which was packed with even the 3 mothers of the performers in attendance. We all fitted in, had a fab time. Comfortable, clean and tidy. Buzzing. Such a good vibe. Right size. Bar. looked good. First impressions, absolutely impressed. no drunks.

Super friendly service, made to feel very welcome. Very reasonably priced drinks. Open mic nights if you fancy, or plenty of space in the adjacent bar if you don't.

I went on the pub quiz on a Sunday, the building can be hard to find as it's behind a wooden fence But the atmosphere was great, and the lady who ran the quiz kept it interactive and great (I forgot her name) Also the only pub that I've found in Cardiff that does Früli The live music has always been good (not seen since the move to the new venue)

Great venue with friendly staff and a lovely abundance of live music. Brilliant outdoor area full of out of the box decor from cinema seats to tv's arranged in a tidy fashion. Been meaning to attend based on the good reviews and also because I share a last name with the venue

Love it. Friendly staff, quirky fun and interesting events, more live music than you can shake a drumstick at, unique outside bit. It feels like a place that accepts you as you are.

Porter's is a very fun place to spend the evening( in Dec and Jan). I went with friends for bandaoke ( it's on the 3rd Friday of each month). I always leave happy and with a massive smile on my face from laughing and singing the happy songs. Such a good therapy. Entry free and drinks cheap. I will support this local business as much as I can. They have other regular events that I would like to try. Check their website. I used to save the events on their fb page but you can't anymore.

My favourite bar in the city centre! There's always something going on and the drinks selection is great. The beer garden is really cute and cosy.

Probably the best bar in Cardiff.. my favourite anyway. Love the open mic and bandeoke nights, always have great live music on too. Bar staff always brilliant! So disappointing they will have to change venue.

Came to see a band. First experience was nice, drinks don’t seem to be too badly priced for proximity to the city centre. Definitely would come back.

Beautiful find . The bar maid open up the choc bloc gin and encouraged testers. It was nice to try new drinks. The bar staff so friendly its like walking into a friendly local . The band got everyone dancing . Everyone danced loved it .

Porters was the kindest bar/venue I've ever been to. I've only been once so far, but a man at the door told us all about the events, and when I exclaimed surprise their quiz nights are free and that other bars charge he said "they're shafting you mate." I saw a gig there, open mic night for first year music students at USW, and it felt like a great big party of family and friends. I will absolutely recommend Porters.

Good venue with a decent beer selection (Paulaners and Blue Moon). Love the outdoor area - great vibes. Wish there were food options (there wasn't when we went).

Came here for the pub quiz whilst on holiday and it was amazing! Clearly a student bar - but everyone seems to know each other and everyone gets on. 10/10 for the quiz master in both hosting skills and quiz creation - we were suitably stumped throughout. Bit disappointed the bar team won though, house wins I guess! (Joking aside) When we come back to Cardiff we'll be visiting again.... and getting more jelly beans...

Ever wanted to sit in a repurposed cinema seat, outside with a somewhat expensive pint? Go here. It's actually class though. Plus they have board games and occasional jazz bands.

Amazing venue! Went to watch a friend do a gig there tonight. Atmosphere was amazing; really chilled and relaxed. Good choice of drinks and fair prices. Looks like they do lots of different events, too, judging by the leaflets left on the tables. Definitely recommend!

The pub quiz on a Sunday is epic the venue is very cozy, good selection of drinks and a relaxing, friendly atmosphere.

A truly unique central Cardiff bar. Good booze, great entertainment, and a strange yet brilliant beer garden beneath the underpass. Toilets are a bit "agricultural", but overall it's a very cool venue.

Disabled access for wheelchairs is abysmal. 2 locked security gates and no way of alerting staff you would like to enter. Disabled toilet only has boiling hot water, and the hand dryer is as effective as waving your hands around. Emergency exit has a step. No one ever seems to answer the phone either, so unless you have a friend to go in and alert someone wheelchairs obviously aren't welcome.

Really interesting time. Stopped here after a night exploring Cardiff. The place was packed. I stepped up to the bar and heard some local boys ordering up rounds of Coors Light. Maybe I heard them wrong because from where I come from thats not the greatest beer and why not enjoy the local brew lol, its a lot better than Coors trust me. I was here with my father and we were enjoying some nice pints. We had a blast. I went up to the bar and ordered a final round and there was a local woman there who had a few.. she was yelling somehthing at me. I coudnt tell if she was hitting on me and wanted a date or if she was mad at me. We had a really great time here. If you are in the area do stop in for a pint or four

Pretty cool bar, didn't even notice it until recently! Crowds here seem friendly and it has a good atmosphere.

Difficult to sit down and see/listen to bands if you're interested in the music rather than self indulgent loud conversations from others. Does get really busy at times and when this happens it is a poor music venue but probably a great social meeting place. Not for me most times. Still worth visiting though. Must be really disappointing for some bands. Free entry mitigated by drinks prices.

Lovely place with amazing atmosphere! The drinks are very decent price with student discounts available. Especially worth a visit during one of their bandoke or Musical Sing-along nights, sometimes even with star guests like Lin-Manuel Miranda! Definitely worth a visit

Quite simply the best bar in Cardiff

Quaint city center pub/venue that doesn't look or feel like the rest, with unique events on regularly. Excellent selection of 'different' drinks, but still drinks/beers/spirits you actually want to drink. Could be a little cleaner(sticky tables and a bit rough around the edges) but that adds to the 'independent buisness' feel. Super friendly staff and importantly very friendly door staff(a rarity in Cardiff). A gem in Cardiffs generic pub scene. Only down side is the 'beer garden'. It's under a car park(they can't help this tbf) could be set out better with actual furniture rather than old cinema chairs and sofas(I understand that's part of the brand but still). And could really do with more heaters! A must visit though for people coming to Cardiff. I hope they don't get priced out of the city center!

Love this place, great spot in the centre of Cardiff, 5 mins away from the hustle and bustle. Lively atmosphere, fab music, great drinks, loads going on throughout the week. Go visit 🍻
