just what we wanted 10/10 food in chilled atmosphere

Me &my mum had a meal here last week and we didn’t think much of it !plus the landlady and a customer were engaging in a conversation that included quite a bit of swearing ,I won’t be taking my elderly mother there agsin.

Went today 15 August 2024 for my mum’s 95 Birthday. The service was excellent the food fantastic and they went out of their way, especially when they knew it was my mother’s birthday they went out and got her a cake and did not even charge us for it. Would highly recommend and would visit again

First visit here and will definitely be back. Friendly welcome as soon as we walked in, Lovely landlady. Very helpful and gave good recommendations regarding drinks. Food was lovely, with a good menu. All the food we saw being served was fresh and cooked fresh. We ordered the ploughman’s which was delicious. A really nice atmosphere in the conservatory and the bar area. We look forward to going back again.

It was closed at 12noon on Wednesday rang the bell and waited 15mins then left?? Should have been open ?

Had a lovely meal with the family. The service was very good and food delicious. The portion sizes were very generous too.They really couldn't do enough for us. Great play area for the children. Will definitely be going back again!

We only went in here to eat as we were told the food is nice. However when we walked in we walked through a crowd of men and the landlady who starred at us and were laughing about something - we opted against eating here as the pub is ran down and stinks. I couldn’t eat in here…… so me and my friends opted against this. However as we left the landlady said ‘thankyou come again’ sarcastically. After reading reviews on google I have seen the landlady has been rude in the past…. So avoid here because you’ll get rude service. Will not be attempting to return again even if it gets a makeover

Had another fantastic family meal tonight. There's always a warm welcome here, and I must say, the veggie lasagne is wonderful. Being disabled, I really appreciate being able to park close to the entry, and the level access from the carpark, and into the restaurant. The staff always make us feel welcome and part of the family. Thanks again. The Gilbert's.

Unfortunately we had a bad experience. We arrived with a friend in a wheelchair, and asked the land lady if there was a ramp to make it easier to get in. We were told “I could get the ramp out but you can lift him down there.” So we did. Unfortunately one of our party was also called a C**T by the land lady who then laughed in our face about it afterwards. We won’t be returning here and will not be recommending any of our friends or family to visit. We will wait for new management.

Amazing service and food... The staff are so welcoming and willing to make sure you feel at home.. We are here for my daughters 17th birthday and she is enjoying every part of it... Will definitely come back again and will definitely recommend to others

We had a Valentines meal at the pub. As we entered, it was beautifully decorated in a Valentines theme, and looked lovely, warm and welcoming. The starter and first drinks came out quickly, the staff were friendly and as welcoming as always. The starter was delicious, king prawn skewers and chicken and pork terrine. The mains cane out quite quickly after the starters and they were amazing! Pork belly with dauphinoise potatoes abd vegetables. Again, avaolutely delicious! Desert was Biscoff cheesecake and was heavenly! We're hoping some of these will make it onto the regular menu!

A fantastic quality breakfast at such a good price, this comes fully recommended, this breakfast was enjoyed by 15 very cold and hungry walkers. We will be going back again.

An amazing village pub. Welcoming staff that make you feel right at home and comfortable. The atmosphere is delightful to say the least this is because of all their pictures of the history of Bramford village. I had the vegetable spring rolls for starters which were packed with flavor especially combined with the sweet chili sauce that comes with them.I then had the Steak and Ale Pie as my main and i've never had a better pie as that. Overall the family i was with enjoyed their meals and had a fabulous time i definitely recommend this great pub.

Unfriendly and odd atmosphere from start, short staffed despite being full for Christmas Day, land lady shouty at family members(?) and staff. Found some comments made to be rude and unnecessary. Not a warm festive atmosphere which we expected, not even wished Happy Christmas by a single team member. Felt it was overpriced for the food/experience received and got to a point where we just left before we'd even finished. I could go on....... First and last visit here, not recommended.

The atmosphere wasn’t great, felt very awkward walking in, like being looked at in a judgy way. The website said it closed at 11 but we were told they were closing up at before 9pm and this was on a Friday night. Drinks weren’t too expensive but overall the experience was pretty poor. The glassware is very cheap and smudgy as well.

Absolutely dreadful, worst service I have ever experienced. The waiter took 7 trips to get our desserts. I am absolutely disgusted by this place.

A big thank you to all the team at The Bramford Cock. We booked the conservatory area for our football team’s Xmas meal and we all had such a good time. The food was amazing and loads of it, the staff were brilliant with the kids and everyone said how nice and relaxed it was. They even managed to arrange a little visit from Santa for the kids. I can’t imagine we were the quietest of people, with 37 in total and over half of that number being 9 year olds & under but nothing seemed to be too much trouble for them and they even gave us an iPhone speaker so we could play some Xmas songs for the boys. We will definitely be back!!!

What can I say we hired the side room for a youth football team Christmas dinner there were 38 of us and what a amazing experience it was the food was perfect and come out nice and hot we had no wait and the staff were absolutely fantastic I would highly recommend they even went out there way to organise a visit from Santa for the children.

It was a surprise birthday meal for me with 13 of us there.The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was freshly cooked and absolutely first class. I would recommend this place to anyone.

We spent a few hours celebrating my daughters baby shower, on sunday afternoon, in the marquee in the garden. The landlady and barstaff were friendly, helpful and very accomodating, allowing us to put up decorations and providing extra tables and chairs at short notice. Everyone who attended enjoyed the afternoon. My family and I will definitely return for a meal in the near future.

Eaten here quite a few lunch times now & it's always lovely. Great choice of menu too.

Having driven 3 hours to stop there and told the barman on arrival the welcome was nothing short of unwelcoming We were there to watch the Lionessess and we understood that they couldn’t serve alcohol until 12 but we had called to book to watch and nobody mentioned that The place was stark and unfriendly The conservatory for lunch was extremely tired the seating dirty Our food order was wrong - twice and only 4 people there to eat I feel sad that the pub industry struggles these days but if you can’t be warm and welcoming to your customers how do you expect them to return We are in the area for 3 days but won’t be returning Please take care to improve how you make people feel so you can get more customers returning We want you to be successful

First time to this pub and chose it based on the location as I was meeting up with my sister for lunch at a point halfway between our homes. When we first walked in no-one really paid us any attention, but then a lady came over and was welcoming and asked us where we would like to sit. We chose the conservatory as it sounded nice - but it was very stark and there was a large group of people busy preparing for a party at the pub, so we honestly felt as if we were in the way. Also it wasn't a nice environment, so we opted to go back into the main pub area which was really nice and felt cosy. The food came out after a bit of a wait. I couldn't really fault my southern fried chicken burger and fries, although menu said it came with coleslaw and I got a rather tired portion of salad - with no mention of the change to the menu. My sister had chilli con carne but said there was hardly any flavour and certainly no kick to the chilli. We were asked if we wanted dessert, and although the menus were brought over we were then just left for some time. So clearly no-one was going to come back and see if we wanted a dessert!! So we decided to go elsewhere for a coffee and a dessert. We had to go up to the bar and pay, so service was really quite poor considering there was hardly anyone in the pub. I have no problem with going up to the bar to pay, but it had been table service up until then so we did feel a bit abandoned.

Thoroughly recommend this traditional, old fashioned country pub. Excellent home cooked good, served with a smile and a lot of laughs. Really enjoyed our evening meal. Thank you all.

Been if a few times now with our little dog. Only had drinks so far. On our second visit the young barman remembered us and asked if we wanted the same drinks as last time. Its what I would call a real pub, with local characters. We expect a bit of pub banter instead of everyone just sitting at tables and playing with their phones. Was made very welcome and some of the regulars chatted with us, and that is nice. Will be going back very soon.

Really disappointing evening. The food is not the complaint but the service was terrible. Had to fetch our own menus followed by cutlery and sauces. Food arrived with a meal missing, gave it a few minutes for it to follow but it never showed, we were never checked on and had to chase the meal up ourselves which had been forgotten. We had every intention to pay for our meal but did expect some compensation for the delay and poor service. When asked, the land lady was very rude, talking no accountability, just excuses. Thank you for our free meal but you should really take this and all the other poor reviews seriously.

Originally went to the Indian restaurant around the corner but closed due to gas leak.we called into this pub and the landlord and landlady could not do enough for us. They made us very welcome and the food was excellent will definitely go back . They turned our disappointment at not getting an Indian into a lovely evening and had a good laugh with locals and staff.well done to all staff

Not suitable for families, landlady is rude and uses foul language even when children are around. In fact she seems visibly agitated if children are around and enjoying themselves

terrible experience, was here with a number of other familes to celebrate the start of the summer holidays. Landlady incredibly rude and aggressive, seemingly annoyed about having lot of customers. Complained about parents not keeping an eye on their children which just was not true and then stuck her finger up at us making one our friends children cry. Not the first time we've witnessed swearing and inpatience when children are around. Sad to say we will not be returning any time soon

My Husband just had the Sunday Roast and I had the Scampi. Absolutely lovely 😍 1st time of eating there and will certainly return.

Extremely rude land lady, who shouted swear words in front of a lot children. The whole garden area is very tired and dirty, with lots of rubbish. We will not be returning.

Leaving the bar unattended when there are queues of customers waiting is not great service.

Lovely place, we were a party of 25+, all food came out hot and they served all the children first, which I thought was good 👍 delicious meal, traditional home cooked grub, lovely outside space and play area. Thank you to all the staff 😊 steak and ale pie was amazing 👏

First impressions tired pub dirty seats stuffing coming out of seat cushions.no music . Waitress was ok but uniformed of specials board.waited 40 minutes for starters which were frozen and over saladed . Waited another 40 minutes for main my roast was peppery and w other meal inedible and roast meat was tough and leathery . Then waited another 30 minutes for desert that was disappointing pastry like cardboard on treacle tart .managers offered to take off main meal so didn't have to pay .also dirty coffee cups and spoons .disappointing experience .

I would avoid this place, the manger/chef was rude, obnoxious & very unprofessional. This got business tips from one of the customers, asked if one of the customers was gay, swore when she was talking to customers, and then basically begged for a good review because all the reviews are crap. Also added that some of the food was homemade, although it was dry & tasteless. My boyfriends brother found a hair in their batter, Which she told us not to post & said she would give us discount.

First time here for Sunday lunch as we were in the area for some sales shopping at Whitehouse retail park. Portions were very generous for the price. Roast dinners came with lovely roast potatoes, carrots and parsnips plus a bit of stuffing which I always love. Dad had Lasagne which he enjoyed a lot. Then two of us had pear crumble with custard, again generous and delicious. We will return!

Have a lovely meal on New Year’s Day . Will go again

Met some friends for a couple of drinks, lovely atmosphere, pool and darts facilities that kept us entertained. Only downside was we asked closing time and was told 10pm, went for a curry, returned at 9.40pm and was closed ☹️

Revisit May 2022- Better but a little expensive I found. I didn't want a huge meal so had a few small plates to nibble on. It was all very pleasant but didn't stand out and it was still a little expensive. Will give it another star now at least so it's heading in the right direction. #######Old Review from around 2019 Not too impressed, won't go for food again. The pub itself is nice, staff nice, nice garden, but the food. Nearly £6 for burnt garlic bread which looked like Tesco's own. A bread roll for my burger which again looked like Tesco's own. Burnt onion rings and re fried chips. The burger itself was home made and meaty, but was dry. A shame but never mind.

Your reason why as requested (didn't think you would want everyone seeing the reasons why, I emailed you but never had a reply) - Your staff are rude only worried about if they have a larger party in. We was told we wasn't allowed anything to eat as they had a larger party they had to sort 1st. (We didn't want anything anyway) Drinks are massively over priced £6 for a vodka and lemonade!!!! We was asked to leave as we was taking up space after being there for a hour even though the place wasn't even half full. Emailed the pub with my concerns but never had a reply. Very big shame as we used to go every week but since owners change it no longer has a village pub friend feel. I know alot of locals that have said the same and no longer go like they used to.

Went today for the 1st time . I ordered Chilli and rice. The rice was soggy in water and it didn't taste at all of chilli.looked more like spag bol with kidney beans. But did even taste of that . Completely tasteless .Hubby said his burger was nice though

We had a roast dinner today. Well it might as well of been a frozen dinner. The gravy was like jelly and not hot. The meat was not nice and not fresh. Our friends both had lasagna and one of them was extremely dry and burnt. We told thewaitressbutlooked scared

Lovely setting. Large table of 9 including children. The service wasn’t great. We all had seperate bills but on the same table. I gave up on ordering desert. There was no table service but when I went to the bar to order desert the regulars were made priority rather than taking my order. Left disappointed but the chief saved the day as the food was delicious and presentation

If you like a proper local pub, this is the place for you. Large garden, play area for the kids, good food and good beer. Come and give it a try.

A good ol' fashioned pub with a good atmosphere and plenty of space. Massive beer garden out the back, which lends itself to the traditional British summer pass time of camping out with many a draught lager in hand. They're set up for kids with a cracking looking climbing frame out the back, which, as an adult, I've definitely not felt the urge to jump on... Pool table downstairs, decent beer selection, and a classic "pub grub" menu, even a cheeky juke box and a pub quiz now and again. Ticks all the boxes for a village locale.
