Visited here with family for lunch. Great welcome from the owner, homely setting, clean tidy and cosy, just what you need on a winters day. Extensive menu, which was well prepared and presented and delicious also. Well worth supporting this local business, you wont be disappointed.

Great food, I had a vegan breakfast! It was big, tasty and well cooked! I never thought I would see scrambled tofu in the Mearns! Loved it and will be back regularly. Been in for a pint on Friday and Saturday evening too! Good atmosphere and great wee bar!

I was delighted to learn that the old post office had been taken over again. We went on fish supper night, but I chose a Macaroni Pie supper, but was informed there was no pastry cases left for that and would I mind Macaroni Cheese instead? Not a problem, it was still tasty. Very nice waitress who saw to all our needs. It can get a little busy as people visit just for a drink instead of a meal, but don't let that put you off. The food is worth it!

Family meal, nine of us in total with two children. Very welcoming and accommodating. Great selection on the menu - all tastes covered and food did not disappoint. Arrived quickly and was very tasty and clean plates all round. Would certainly recommend.

Don't let the "cafe' title fool you, this is more than a coffee shop and has a great, good value menu.Friendly service with a warm welcome and spot on service. The menu has some good tried and tested favourites augmented with some great specials and portions that should suit even a big appetite.Great quality food, well presented and small details like home made coleslaw making the difference.

We visited the Brae Cafe on a Saturday night. Very friendly staff and good service. The fish supper and desserts were very good. Nicely decorated and comfortable place to dine. We will come again.

We had a table booked here for 6 and while the street looked quiet this place was busy. 3 of us had a Fish Supper, one had the soup and a fresh sandwich, one had Chicken and the other had the chicken salad. All declared the food great. This fish supper was a big meal and delicious. There was only one young man serving and he did a grea job. The do take away fish and chips on Friday night. If we were in the area again we would return.

For some who just likes soup and sandwich for lunch this was more than just that.Having opted for the specials board choice of soup followed by a baguette rather than the cup of soup and small sandwich we were not disappointed with what was presented to us.The home made mushroom soup and Cullen Skink soup were very tasty served with warm crust roll and butter, was very filling. The Cajun chicken baguettes which were large, came with chips and salad. What a plateful. This must be the first time ever we've left something on our platesThe plate of fish and chips that passed us by for next table filled the plate and looked delicious,so must make a note to return.

We visited this place for lunch and were not disappointed. The two boys behind the bar/manning the place were very attentive and polite. The lunch menu is very reasonably priced with a good amount of choice. I had a toastie which was great along with a brilliant sponge cake. The cheese scones looked brilliant, will definitely try next time we come!

Visited here on a cold snowy March Sunday. We’d booked in advance and we’re pleased we had because it was busy. We had the roast beef, hunters chicken and popcorn chicken from the children’s menu. The meals were all excellent - generous portions and so full of flavour. The roast beef in particular was one of the best roasts I’d had in a long time, if not the best ever - the beef was very tender and all the trimmings were topped with a rich gravy. We had hardly any room left but couldn’t not try one of the cakes which all looked lovely. It was busy despite the snow, but the service was efficient and friendly and the cafe had a relaxed atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back again, especially if roast beef is on the specials menu!

Visited this cafe whilst on holiday with family. Opted for the roast beef dinner, and absolutely by far the nicest roast beef I have had in the past few years. It was so tender, the gravy was delicious, the whole meal was truly truly delicious!! Will definitely return.

We went to The Brae Cafe for lunch two weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. I asked for an adult portion of one of the kids meals and it was no problem, my hubby had a Pannini which came with salad and crisps, my daughter-in-law had a Chicken burger which had crispy bacon and mozzarella cheese on top, served with chips and a side salad, my son had the Venison burger which was enormous and he loved it served with chips and salad too. The kids had chicken goujons with chips and it was enormous, enough for the 9 year old but too much for the two year old. The service was excellent and the staff willing to do or fetch whatever we wanted. Id certainly recommend a trip to The Brae Cafe.

We were on holiday, staying with friends who live in Aberdeen who recommended this cafe as they had been there before. Unfortunately it did not meet their previously good experiences expectations... Lovely location but quite a limited selection of cakes/pastries available and very small portions sizes for the prices being charged. We sat upstairs and were brought our drinks/cakes by the waiter. The hot drinks were served in horrible plastic 'beaker like' cups (like something a child drinks squash from). The tea was nice but both the latte and flat white were not nice at all, in fact most of the drinks were left. A little more attention to detail could make this place much better

We had an afternoon tea for Emily’s upcoming birthday. Wonderful selection of sandwiches sausage rolls, scones and strawberry tarts as well as numerous tray bakes and jam and cream. Absolutely delicious

Great food, steak and fish cooked to perfection, served with really good chips. Went for deserts too, which we don’t normally go for, butter tablet ice cream hit the spot.

I booked the Glenaden Hotel to provide a funeral tea for 30 people after a private internment in Ballater . Neil , the owner could not have been more helpful in organising this for a very reasonable price. We were delayed at the cemetery but a quick call alerted the staff who said no problem Once there we were given a private area for the family with its own bar and toilets . The food supplied was fresh and plentiful and there was unlimited tea and coffee . The staff were friendly and always available. We were told we could stay as long as we wished and that was great because everyone had come from far afield . It was a nice end to a sad day . We intend visiting again for food when next in the area .
