Friend took me for the first time, lovely little place! Bartender was lovely, will happily go back.

Great pizza and a great pint and atmosphere. What more could you want.

By far and away the best pub in Exeter

Thought it was a nice pub but my friend just went in prior to myself and his friend arriving whereby a member of staff behind the bar asked him directly "you're not just using the toilet are you?" my friend, who has frequented the pub for many years responded by saying "don't talk me me like that" and proceeded to use the toilet. As he was using the toilet the said member of staff pulled him away from the urinal AS HE WAS USING IT. We were hoping to use the garden and enjoy a beer in the sun but was clearly met with hostility so did not feel we could go back in. Due to this I won't be heading back any time soon. Such as shame as prior to this I thought it was a nice place to socialise.

Was just about to have a drink with a couple of mates in there and as my mate who is literally a disable person, went ahead to use the toilet as I was finding my wallet in the car. He was followed into the toilet and asked "I hope you're not just using the toilet". Whilst having his genital in his hand, the member of staff (or owner) proceeded to grab my friend and pull him out of the toilet and pushed him out of the door. I am sure there is a law somewhere that they cannot do this. We've been going there on and off for around 10 years plus. Not the first incident. I don't think we'll be going back there at all. They just don't know how to smile. Just go Henrys instead. Don't waste money on their overpriced drinks

Totally recommend the veggie chilli...yum and they have a Foosball table

Haven't eaten here but had plenty to drink. Staff are always very friendly as are the other patrons. Dogs are welcome. The beer garden is tiered and nice on a hot day.

Not great food sadly, I wouldn't recommend it.

very nice pub with a family atmosphere - good place to sit and have a drink with friends, although the food isn‘t amazing and portion sizes are small - the bar staff is always friendly and quick to serve - prices too are fair and absolutely justified - Sunday evenings there is a great pub quiz, which always makes for a good evening

A great place for a drink with friends, pub food which was nice enough. Limited choice but to be fair pubs have major challenges so not a criticism.

Easily the best pint you'll drink in Exeter. It's obvious that the owners take great care and pride in what they do and how their beer and food tastes. The bowling green has a very friendly atmosphere and is a welcoming pub for all. Top pub 🍻

Vegan and gluten free options at excellent old school prices! Plenty of other options for meat eaters too. Dog friendly. Cosy. Very welcoming pub. We had pizzas , ciders, ginger beer and rhubarb and apple crumble.

Went to the quiz for the first time. The host was very welcoming and enjoyable game. Got us all up singing was such fun. Food was also very good tasty and clean.

Love this pub - the staff are always friendly and the atmosphere is great. There are regularly different beers on tap and a fun Sunday quiz night too (as well as pool and table football)!

Good beer, reassuringly familiar setting

Great pub with a good atmosphere. Good selection of lager, ale and cider on tap. However, it was quite hot and stuffy inside. If I were to really nit pick the table I sat at was low, I couldn't sit comfortably. Had a pint of cherry cider, which was great and would highly recommend. Definitely worth a visit.

I am glad that I stumbled apon this gem. Great selection of drinks, perfectly poured by polite and friendly staff. I ordered a burger, just wanting a quick bite to eat. What I received was the best burger I have ever eaten. I cannot recommend this place enough.

Love the pub and especially the landlord! If you're not a local or a stupid 'woke', don't bother entering as the landlord's humour is not to everyone's taste! Gets packed on football days. Unfortunately an annoying student hangout but if you can look beyond that...

Never been in this pub before came after work for drinks with the girls , was nice and clean and quiet in the afternoon when we were there

Me and my mates walked into the pub and were demanded to give up our booked quiz table and stand after half an hour because we hadn’t all bought drinks. 2 of us had already bought pints and we would’ve happily bought more had she not rudely told us that if we didn’t buy more drinks we had to get off our table. Plenty of nicer places to go where you won’t be ushered out early for not drinking enough. Won’t be going back.

Love this pub! They've got a great selection of cider and the staff are very friendly. The open mic nights on Tuesday are really good and I generally enjoy my time a lot when I go to this pub, unlike others.

We had a lot of fun going to this pub! They have a good selection of beers and they even have a decent selection of food. Nigel, the barkeep was a lot of fun! He tries to razz you on the way in and then he tells you a few jokes before he gives you delicious beer! We got to meet the most famous patrons of the bar. One was a black lab named Starla and the other was a wiener dog named Dottie. Both exceptional patrons. You would be remiss if you did not stop in for, at least a cold one. I would recommend to order some food, beverage and then settle in for a fun card game or some excellent conversation!! We will return to see Nigel and his wonderful staff again!!

Usually go before or after an Exeter City game. The staff are always friendly, the pub a good range of beers, it's lively without being overcrowded and the pub grub is good.

The pub is a great blend between modern and tradition. There is a good line of varied beers which is regularly updated, the food is decent and the staff are good fun and welcoming. Dogs are welcome. Despite some rumours the place is not overrun by students, they are welcomed along with everyone else but there is always a pleasant atmosphere. The live music is also a highlight.

Almost back to its old self after over a year of restrictions during which time the whole place had been spruced up a bit. Shame about the restricted opening hours currently (Jul '21) but I'm sure they'll be back on it asap. Friendly, welcoming staff and really well kept beer, as normal 👍👍

Still a great place, popular with students and locals alike. Food good although still a reduced menu. Good outside space, but watch you footing on the decks can be slippy. Not suitable if mobility impaired, unless you don't mind being carried....carefully.

I was pleasantly surprised by the food quality as there was a limited menu due to updating the pub I opted for the fish and chips I was expecting a frozen fish with frozen chips but looking at the plate was a surprise as the fish and chips were as good or better than any chip shop would be selling I have eaten fish and chips in Whitby where most people class as the best in the country if you are in the area and are trying to find somewhere to eat you cannot go wrong eating here. A great place to eat.

The Bowling Green has always been my favourite pub. Now restrictions have been put in place they have made it a safe place to still enjoy a nice drink out, have great food and feel welcome. I highly recommend this pub for anyone wanting a drink or some great food.

We absolutely love it here. The landlords are thoughtful and have created an environment where we feel safe coming these days. The food is also amazing. Pizzas are highly recommended!

Amazing staff and very clean and up to date toilets. We didn't book but I'd advise on doing so. Very well stocked with sanitizer and designated entrance and exit.

They've made a lot of effort to cope with COVID restrictions, incredibly hygienic and their espresso martini on tap is fantastic

Landlord is surly but fair and righteous. Good selection of drunk. Good atmosphere even when students are about. Locals are dangerous and should avoid if you want to have a quiet night otherwise... Fill thy boots. Would drink in here more but its 120metres from my local on a downward slope. Upward slope first port of call if I am getting a stitch on the slight gradient... Thirst persist... Needs must. Toodle pip.
