My hubbie and I came across this place today. The unfortunate thing is that this is venue is out of the way so alot of people do not know it exists. I had a piece of Coffee and Walnut Cake and it was a very large portion which was nice, what also was nice abou tthe cake that it did not have large pieces of walnut it had been crushed and had been put in the sponge. I also had a Mocha, you could taste and chocolate and the coffee beans and hubbie had an Americano which he enjoyed. They were very generous with the milk which was good as most Cafes don't always give you enough milk. I would definately recommend this place. The two members of staff were very polite.

We popped in for the first time as it always looks so welcoming from the outside. We went in and it was dead, not a single person in there and considering it was lunch time..... not great. We are a family of 4, so we went in and looked at the food menu, which was extremely lacking to say the least. We asked for jacket potatoes but they didn’t have any. My partner is gluten free, so we asked for a toastie on gluten free bread as advertised on menu, again they didn’t have any. We then asked for toasties for the kids and they over charged us which we had to query. We did get our money back. When the food arrived, we asked for ketchup and they said they didn’t have any. Which kind of cafe doesn’t have ketchup???? Right epic to get to the loo too which is situated outside. Not great with two young kids. On the one plus side, the coffee was nice but overall experience was disappointing and over priced. Will not be returning.

Popped into Gullivers for a business coffee and cake because we fancied trying somewhere new. Lemon drizzle cake was absolutely delicious- definitely got to be up there in terms of the best cakes in Exeter! It would have been nice to have slightly more options but the quality of the food was very good.

Whenever I'm in Exeter (sadly not often enough!) I go to Gulliver's for a coffee, and sometimes a cake. I try, whenever possible, to support local independent cafes if their products are good and the staff are friendly, and Gulliver's ticks both boxes. Having tried the big High Street coffee shops, Gulliver's wins hands down every time for a far superior product which is usually cheaper. The coffee is made to your liking (or there is a choice of teas in a generous pot) and all the cakes, I believe, are baked by Gulliver himself. The quality of the cakes is superb, with a 'homemade' taste but also with a professional finish. There is usually a good selection of cakes/brownies to choose from (Carrot, Lemon Drizzle, Chocolate Fudge) and a couple of new vegan options which are just as delicious if not better, than the usual ones! If a tempting tea/coffee and cake is your thing, then give Gulliver's a try and you will not be disappointed!

Were passing and it looked inviting. 2 coffees and a lemon drizzle cake to share The lemon drizzle cake was THE BEST. At last a place that realises that a lemon drizzle cake should taste of lemon, and the sponge it was made of light, moist and delicious too. The coffee - well that's a different matter. Why is it that every coffee shop nowadays serves their coffee at a temperature that means you could drink it straight down. I order a hot drink because I want it hot, not tepid.

We know coffee in Exeter and have hesitated to check out the reputation at Gullivers; could it be that good? Wow!! very personal service (nice to meet you G) fantastic generous coffee and superlative cakes. We don't like the seating (too squashy for old fogies) but a minor nag, we will be back!!

We enjoyed this cafe for the lovely homemade sponge cakes, relaxed environment and friendly staff. It's worth going slightly off the beaten track and support this independent venture!

Followed the street billboards and walked into this unassuming independent coffee and cake cafe. Warm welcome and a clean environment welcomed us. The coffee was excellently brewed, the homemade cake (Lemon drizzle) was absolutely superb Give the coffee chains a miss and try this place, just behind he Guildhall shopping centre.

Came here to try the fabulous cakes I’d seen on Facebook, I had the coffee and walnut and my partner had the lemon drizzle both were delicious ( maybe a bit small a portion) very nice coffee . Friendly service. It was a bit chilly in there I think they need to turn up the heating a bit. I will be returning to try that chocolate cake !

A cosy comfortable cafe with a warm friendly service. Gulliver, the young owner has jetted the reputation of this cafe to such a high standard in just one year of opening, he is to be heartily congratulated. Gulliver is surely a chef entrepreneur of the future. . Everything selling like 'hot cakes'! What a an enjoyable meal.. Thank you.

I’d heard great things about this place so decided to give it a try & go for coffee & cake with a friend just after Christmas. I’d emailed them the day before to check that they were open in between Christmas & New Year. We arrived & the cafe around 11:00am and it looked welcoming, with nice comfy seats. We ordered coffees & wanted cake too but the only cake on display was chocolate brownies, the other cake stands were empty. We asked what other cake they had & was told there was none, said he was going to bake two cakes but hadn’t so far. This was really disappointing as we had high expectations of delicious cake to go with our coffee. So we ended up with the chocolate brownies which were somewhat rich for our taste & quite expensive. It was a chilly day & we sat furthest from the door but they didn’t appear to have any heating on & we spent the whole time there with our coats on. There was a sign in the toilet saying ‘please close the door to keep the heat in’ but the little radiator that was in there wasn’t plugged in! Overall a disappointing first visit. Perhaps we were unlucky & caught them on a rare bad day. In view of its previous good reviews I may consider going there again, but I’ll certainly check out the cake they have on offer first.

I have eaten at Gulliver's several times, not only just cake and coffee (which is second to none) but splendid jacket potatoes, which are finished off in an oven, giving them a crunchy outside - perfect. He has also supplied Exeter Historic Buildings Trust with excellent cakes for an event we have just held in St. Nicholas Priory. Needless to say, they were soon eaten up and we had to order some more... Well worth a visit if you are in or near North Street, or even if you're not.

It's nice to go off the main street and find independent cafes and not have to east in the same old plastic, bland eateries. A friendly welcome awaits. Good selection of coffees and teas. We had a posh dog which rounded off lunch nicely. A good selection of fresh cakes but I did resist just! Will definitely call back next time we are in Exeter.

GREGGS AT SIDWELL STREET. EXETER. Today at 1.20pm I, my wife and our special needs emotional support dog, went into order and eat. I Sat down as normal . Wife to order. SIGN IN DOOR ASSISTANCE DOGS OK as before ate. Counterstaff boy came over saying NO DOGS ALLOWED. I showed my certified support dog card as advised from the hospital And asked to see the manager. HE SAID I AM THE MANAGER. HE WAS COMPLETELY RUDE. MY wife went to the ordering dept for manager and was totally ignored and rude. The first contact supp.manager was hiding in the back room calling his manager. A TOTAL LIAR. We were shoed out of the premises. There behaviour was totally unacceptable and illegal.

I usually love the service at turtle bay in Exeter, but not this time unfortunately. Upon entering myself and my friend was seated next to a very noisy hen party and given menu. Over 20 minutes later waiter had no returned to ask for our order and then he immediately took orders from his friends that entered 10 minutes after us! (You could tell he was their friend as he ruffled one of their hair) We walked out shortly after this treatment of us. I'm sorry but this has broken my trust in recommending the venue to my friends like I have done in the past, even thou the food can be great
