Lovely people and the best food

Easily the best chippy in Exeter. I grew up in North Devon and worked in Squires which if you know you know. Friar Tuck is as good as Squires!! The curry sauce is 10/10 and the chips are so good. Not greasy at all. Will be a regular from now on.

By the time I got the food home all of the paper was saturated with oil to the point where it was dripping off and there was a pool of oil in the bag. The fish was soggy with oil, it made me feel sick.

Great fish and chips and pea fritter

Stopped to use the postbox and got distracted by the smell. Really fresh, well cooked chips that weren’t full of oil. Lovely people working there. Plastic free trays. Took them home and had them with salad. Super yummy. Glad I found this place.

Apparently ques out the door and down the road and glowing reviews don't mean anything anymore. The chips were all deep fried until petrification, that is I had a box of pebbles, the fish although a large amount wasn't the best quality either. Essentially it's £10 for a XXXXXL piece of cod that nobody else at the store wanted with some beach pebbles drizzled over it for effect. Sadly it all went in the bin and you've scorned me for life.. luckily there's "The Frying Scotsman" on the front that I'm going to try next (it's empty and the staff look bored.. a good sign around here apparently).

Always excellent food from wonderfully friendly staff, I have tried several chippys in exeter and Friar Tuck out fries them all, so lucky to have a good friar locally, no 'Fry by night Scotsman' to be found here, will remain loyal to these lovely guys. A lovely portion of cod and chips, would have been better if the cod wasn't so greasy.

Quick and friendly service. Portion sizes are good with some very big fish portions! Not a fan of their chicken burger but as a fish and chippy can't really fault them.

Use it regularly. Plenty of parking outside. Very friendly. Worth a fry and try, lol

This use to be a good chip shop, sadly gone down hill. Chips over cooked and fish was dry and over cooked.

My first visit and very impressed. Will visit again. Fish was freshly cooked and home made chips. Very generous portion size. Good experience.

Personally I cannot remember much about this fish and chips as I am no longer able to eat anything they serve. My family still have take aways here and say it is good.

I always get chips and cheese. Always very nice, not full of grease like some places. Staff always chatty. I won't go anywhere else.

Went 7.30 on a Saturday night to find that they wasn’t open

Can't comment on the food as place was shut! Drove 17 miles to find the place closed early at 8:45pm. Frustrating when opening hours say 9:30pm. Too late to goto another chippy now.

Friendly staff, quick service, delicious food! Portion sizes are generous - we share two large fish & chips between two adults and a child, over two days (although I think we might be a low appetite family)! There is on street parking just outside the shop, and a Spar corner shop over the road and just a few doors up where you can pick up bits and pieces to go with dinner if needed. Easy & convenient!

Me and my other half just got our tea from here we wasn't happy at all with it the chicken was to dry and bland the chips was under cooked and was to solely. . We had food from here before and never complain about it
