Super delicious😭😭It is the best restaurant in the village😭wasabi steak, soft shell crab avocado sushi, eel rice, the scallops are the most delicious, the most delicious, the most delicious😭😭😭Oh my God, I suddenly found out that they were closed😭😭😭I was broken

Great food in a welcoming setting, snappy friendly service and a great menu choice, we had mixed starters, sushi & sashimi then sizzling steak with accompaniments, I can't remember the names of the dishes exactly as I over imbibed on the hot sake, but everything was delicious especially the sweet shrimp sashimi flown in from South Africa

We enjoyed the delicious food in this beautifully decorated restaurant, the service was superb.

I had the most delicious late lunch with my son in SteaksNSushi Exeter. The place is unpretentious but authentic in decor. I had miso soup to start which was delicious, also a lovely bowl full of edamame delicious with soy dipping sauce. Then the most delicately flavoured and delicious tempura prawns. The crumble on the prawns was so light and melted in the mouth. My son had the 6 course set meal with steak for £39.95 and he literally scoffed everything in sight. A huge compliment to the beautiful tastes he experienced because he’s ever such a fussy eater. The lovely chef, I think her name was Remi or Romi, I’m terrible with names, came over and spoke with us after we extended compliments via the waitress. A top class culinary experience on the levels as some of these most expensive places in London and a gem to have in Exeter. Will wholeheartedly recommend for any type of visit be it celebratory or otherwise. Won’t disappoint! 5*s

It was really good food. Though a bit pricey, it's totally worth it! Servers were very attentive. Just 4 stars in atmosphere because we were a party of two stuck near 3 big parties. And it got two noisy.

Really enjoyed a birthday celebration dinner at Steaks and Sushi in Exeter. Located just off the centre of town with nearby parking. Recommend booking in advance as it is a small restaurant. Both good and service was excellent and we all came away having had a very pleasant meal. Highly recommended!!

Came down to Exeter for a couple of days and me and the wife are a lover of oriental cuisine, we were so amazed by the great service and delicious food we had. Thankyou for delicious food and we both loved the tag at the bottom of the menus, "We don't make fast food, we make great food quicky as possible" brilliant.

As far as authentic Japanese food goes this is the best you'll find for a long long way, with a twist of Devon that makes for a unique experience. Always greeted with a smile and a very tasty menu, that looks so good I always end up ordering too much. If I'm in Exeter I'll always time It so I can eat here.

What a superb place, very hospitable staff, even showed me how to use chopsticks 🙂 of course with a great place comes great food, unfortunately, the food was so delicious I forgot to take a photo. I highly recommend this restaurant, great all-around and a wonderful experience.

Visited this place many times. Found it a tad bit overpriced but the food is so good. Especially the steak with wasabi sauce and the seaweed salad in particular are so delicious. Usually the front staff members are very friendly but had a bad experience recently. Few days ago me and some friends went there for dinner. 2 of my friends went there for the first time and they were taking time to decide what to order and the waiting members were visibly annoyed. After some time we asked if they had “that” curry, and the waiting member was pretending as if she didn’t understand the word curry because of our pronunciation (we are south asian). They were making fun of our pronunciation and laughing at us in front of us. I was so embarrassed as I am the one pushed them to visit this place. Finished dinner quickly and left. And decided to not to visit this place anymore.

We always come in early as we don't have any booking. They're very accommodating. The food and service are faultless. Kudos!

I anxiously visited yesterday with my vegan partner. I last visited about 7 years ago and was worried that it wouldn't be as good as I remembered. Thankfully, I had nothing to worry about. The sushi was amazing. Perfectly presented and prepared. The staff went out of their way to make the meal great for my partner, too - even ensuring that her vegan food was not in contact with my fish sushi. The selection was great (too good - I wanted everything!). Prices were fair. Obviously, beautiful handmade sushi will never be a cheap meal, but we felt that the price was good for the excellent quality. We liked the atmosphere and the Japanese theme. Highly recommended.

I can't say enough good things about Steaks N Sushi. This is by far my and my family's favourite restaurant in Exeter and we absolutely LOVE eating here. The food is fantastic, the staff are so friendly and helpful and everything is unbelievably tasty. We've been to Steaks N Sushi many times and will hopefully continue to visit many more times in the future.

I would recommend this sushi&steak restaurant to anyone who wants to have sushi whenever you are in Exeter. The best sushi in town. Always our favourite place to enjoy sushi as well other japanese foods. Very friendly staff with excellent service.

We enjoyed eating here. The food was consistently good, the service attentive and the atmosphere was lively. The sashimi and soft shell crab dishes were real standouts. The only thing holding it back from 5* is that their extractor fan wasn't working in the day we visited and our clothes smelt of oil by the time we left.

Food was delicious, honestly one of the best Japanese restaurants I have had in England. I was a bit shocked at the price at first since it's more expensive than London prices, but the quality and portion sizes were well worth it in my opinion. We had the pork and chicken ramen with tantan broth, and salmon teriyaki. All three were absolutely delicious. Also shout out to the amazing servers we had that night, they were both quick, proactive and friendly. They were the two ladies working on Thursday night, I didn't get a name but they both took excellent care of our group.

Hidden in a street behind The Guildhall shopping centre, this gem offers a truly extensive list of Japanese dishes. Service is attentive and efficient. I chose a selection of sashimi, seafood soup, tempura prawns and grilled steak. All perfectly, freshly prepared with high quality ingredients. I lived in Asia for sixteen years and loved the food. This compares well with the best. Time to invest a little in the decor and toilets, maybe. Otherwise perfect. Thanks.

We had the set menu, a great way to try lots of different things. Good value for money. Excellent customer service, very attentive. Nice atmosphere and very busy, definitely abound book. Our personal highlights were the scallop miso soup and sushi. Lovely flavours.

Was craving Japanese food while on holiday and I am happy I found this place. The food here is amazing and I recommend the exeter sushi which is refreshingly modern. Also if you come here, definitely order deserts, both the mochi icecream and fried banana was spectacular. Will come again next time I am around.

We were recommended to go here and although it’s external appearance is a bit down at heel, the decor inside is very pleasant and it was clear that the other diners were enthusiasts for this Japanese restaurant. The location is 3 mins walk from the town centre / Guildhall so very good. We couldn’t fault the food which was varied and delicious and all the staff were friendly and very helpful. We will certainly go back.

We have visited Steaks n Sushi several times this year and it never disappoints. Our family and friends also love it, there is a great variety on the menu and the food is delicious and generous. Staff are so friendly and helpful! A new favourite for us in Exeter.

The best sushi I have ever had. The salmon teriyaki rice bowl was delicious too. Service was great and the place has a real authentic feel to it. Will be going back to try one of their set menus.

Had lunch here for my daughter's birthday and it was absolutely lovely. The food was delicious (sushi platter was great, and the agedashi tofu was fantastic) and a really lovely atmosphere. Service was top notch as well - my daughter was particularly happy with the impromptu happy birthday singing! A really wonderful experience - we'll definitely be back to try more of the menu. Particularly good place to celebrate a special occasion. Thanks for making it such a happy occasion!

Found this place on Google. We went there without a reservation and the owner was super lovely and accommodating to us. Everything we ordered was amazing and staff was kind. However, the eel sushi was just fantastic *chef’s kiss*. We definitely will be coming again! Thank you for the great service

We are so glad we picked Steaks N Sushi to celebrate our 5 year anniversary! The atmosphere was just right and the service was lovely but the food really is the star. My husband had the sizzling filet steak with the house sauce, wow so yummy! I went for the four course meal with the sushi platter main and each course was better than the last. We had the best experience and this has fast become our go to anniversary spot from now on. I may even request it again on my birthday. This is the perfect spot for celebrating if you love quality food!

First time I been there back in Christmas of 2022 it was amazing. I've revisited in the May of 2023 hoping to relive the wonderful experience I had there, only to my utter disappointment. The ramen was okay. But oh no the sushi was horrid. The tuna was slimy and stale, with the strings of fat still intact and hard to chew. I had to spit it out. Tried the California roll which was just as slimy as the tuna. Didn't bother to eat the rest of them. Chicken skewers were just random pieces of chicken crammed into a stick, the skin was gross. Tempura was good. The only thing I love about it is the yuzu sake, which tasted refreshing and sweet. Server was super nice and genuine. Overall I would not be coming back as I have been greatly deterred by the poor quality of the food.

Had a very delicious meal here and very reasonably priced for the quality. I chose a set meal and enjoyed ramen noodles in vegetable broth - Tonkotsu I think - tempura prawns and California rolls. I also tried some deep fried tuna - wow - and my husband enjoyed some pork katsu. Ordering, for me, was a little tricky so I handed it over to my husband who knows his Japanese food by name 😅 You'll be fine if you have a smart phone as you can look up what things are but the staff are really helpful and friendly, they'll get you sorted. All in all a lovely meal, we'll be back!

Great food. Friendly service not too heavy on the pocket.

I am celiac so choice was limited. Even so I had a good choice of food with no issues. The lamb and beef Kushiyaki was melt in the mouth good and sashimi very tasty. My son had a char sui ramen soup and it looked good and very filling. Service was excellent and all very friendly.

Amazing sushi and by far the best I've tasted. I think the sushi is the closest to the real deal and worth every penny. The ramen is amazing and would highly recommend the tempura and California sushi! You won't regret it. Cosy place and excellent quality, the atmosphere and staff are so lovely too. I wish I didn't live so far away, I'd most likely be a regular. (Edited 2018)

Best Asian cuisine I've ever had.

Third visit to this restaurant. I had a six course tasting menu with sushi. Absolutely, unbelievably delicious. The food is so beautifully prepared and cared for. You can tell that is the case right from the selection of suppliers right through to the presentation on the plate. This food is of an exceptional quality, that you will not come across very often in Exeter. The staff are all very accommodating and friendly and the chef came out and had a little chat with us which was very kind and much appreciated. I cannot recommend Steaks N Sushi highly enough.

The food was fantastic. Didn't know exactly what I wanted but the chef came over and asked what I wanted, and explained not sure. So I ordered a sushi selection and a rice dish, and was asked how spicy I wanted it and I said medium. Did not disappoint. Unfortunately was closed due to illness I couldn't have tonight and went somewhere else and hated it. Will definitely eat here again

An absolute gem for really authentic, fresh, delicious sushi and we’re so glad we found this place on Google! The food quality here is up there with fancy sushi restaurants we’ve been to in London, so it’s an absolute treat to find somewhere serving excellent sushi in the South West. The staff were all very polite, really friendly, attentive and we had a great experience. The toilet interiors could do with a little refresh and modernising, but this really is a minor observation as you come here for the food & service! We will absolutely be back. All time favourite place to eat in the city, food is always amazing and the staff are so attentive. Perfection.

Somewhat pricer than expected and some of the dishes were a pale imitation of authentic sushi. That said, staff exceeded expectations and were very friendly and accomodating.

Amazing menu, the Lemon Yuzu Sake is a must try (if I offend anyone by saying this 'sorry but not sorry') if you like Limoncello... this is miles better. Apart from the alcohol the tempura duck was amazing and for anyone who's vegan the tempura vegetables are pretty good.

We had a lovely family meal here. Best meal we have had in Exeter in a very, very long time. The staff were all lovely, very relaxed atmosphere no need for dressing up, no pretentiousness and the food was absolutely delicious. We all dived into scrumptious soup, steak, sushi and green tea ice-cream. We struggled to decide what to order so our kids went for the sushi and hot pot and we ordered the set menu. We were not disappointed! Made a mess of the table slurping soup everywhere but it really was delicious. We will definitely be back as soon as we can. Highly recommended to anyone who is looking for authentic, decent food. You won't be disappointed.

When I took a look at the menu It was very daunting but the extremely friendly waiter helped us pick out everything we wanted with recommendations and good explanations. The food is breath taking and is the best food I've ever had. The atmosphere is great and calm. I Definitely will be coming again!

Had a wonderful dinner. Broad menu with many of the best dishes from Japan (ramen, sushi, Japanese curry,…) Highly recommend the unagi (eel) sushi. The best we’ve had outside of Japan. Service was super friendly and helped us calibrate our order to make sure we didn’t order too much for two. Would highly recommend to anyone!

We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch: we opted for the tempura prawns, a selection of sushi and the ramen made with miso broth. We also had the lime and honey ( non alcoholic) home made drink which was absolutely delicious. The service was very friendly and we look forward to returning on our next visit to Exeter.

We came to this restaurant for the first time a few weeks ago, not knowing what to expect. I've tried sushi before but my partner hadn't, it was such a good experience, the setting the atmosphere and the food was amazing, so much so we are planning on returning next week. And for someone who had never tried sushi before she loved it. Many many thanks.
