The Bootlegger Cocktail Bar in Brighton is an absolute gem, where exceptional cocktails and a prohibition-era atmosphere create an unforgettable night out.

Hands down one of the best place to come for happy hour, they have a variety of cocktails options. I definitely recommend their espresso martinis and French martinis. We had amazing service from Callum.

Noisy. Extremely poor service. Waitress forgot to bring the drink for one of our party and then 10 mins later when we managed to get her attention, told me not to worry and finally brought it 5 mins later. Cocktails are extremely disappointing. Too much ice and very dilute. The twisted lime across the road is miles better. Will not be retuning any time soon.

Stylish premises and good drinks. Can't say anything about atmosphere, as there were few people when we visited.

Obviously I'm going to give it 5 stars, I'm the guy who approved the change of use to a cocktail bar! Anyway, it's really exceeded my expectations - it's a brilliant concept, only match by the quality of the cocktails and shots themselves! One of the very best cocktail bars in Brighton & Hove.

I have and do enjoy this bar. I was here on my birthday and for the most part I am happy... This time I was made sad by other customers at the bar who were commenting to each other about me and made me cry. But Probably a one off but I am not rushing back 😭😭😭 So this is a shout out to the management team...they totally honoured the reply and were super friendly and even gave us free shots too 🎉🎉🎉

I’d booked the cocktail masterclass for my friend’s hen do and James & Tam were incredibly helpful from start to finish - they went above and beyond to look after us all, they were super friendly and everyone had the best time. The cocktails were delicious and we were able to choose from a huge range of cocktails on their menu - we would absolutely recommend The Bootleggers! Thank you guys

Didn't eat so can't rate the food. Really friendly, great service and we lucked out that there was a great band on too when me happened upon the place. Loved it.

We went during an evening in the week This venue lacked any positive atmosphere and was largely empty. The cocktails were OK, but even with the happy hour deal we left after one and went elsewhere. We would not return nor would we recommend!

The staff were very unprofessional when dealing with a situation that arose and also put extra rounds on our tab. Alongside this, we were told of a ‘2 for £16’ deal, so therefore a large group of us quickly ordered, as it was around 1 minute before 10pm (the end of happy hour). The waiter did not make it clear that only specific cocktails were included in this deal, and took advantage of us ordering in a quick space of time- therefore leaving us with bills that were entirely unexpected. What would have been a lovely experience has been tainted by this poor service.

We were told there was a deal upon arrival, of 2for £16. It wasn’t made clear on which cocktails, the waiter took all of our orders of 2 cocktails each knowing full well we expected the happy hour deal. However when we went to pay, we were told some were under 16 and some were above. Some of us ended up paying £33 for two cocktails. There was a mix up with our bill and extra drinks were added, when we tried to tell the waitress she told us she knows better than us. Quite disappointed with the whole experience. In the future, I would recommend you to take payment upon ordering, and being specific with the ‘deals’ you are recommending to clients. Even though we were being very cooperative with the situation, the staff continued to disrespect us.

Honestly a great place! Saw this place during the Tubbathon which made us really want to try the place out! The staff are super friendly and approachable! Great selection of drinks available so you’re spoilt for choice!

Booked a cocktail masterclass here for my friend's hen do. The venue were lovely throughout the booking process, even when I had to keep calling up to make amendments to the booking. When we arrived for the class we were greeted warmly and treated fantastically by our guide. He made sure to engage all of us and make sure that our pregnant friend still got to make fun drinks and feel included. We all loved it! Will definitely be coming back

We visited as a couple over the weekend. Glad we did it was lovely, we had cocktails, they were lovely! Bar staff were very attentive and friendly. Nothing was too much. The atmosphere was lush, a range of different ages all having a good time. Would definitely revisit. When we cleared our tab, the waitress also brought over a free shot which was lovely.

We had an amazing afternoon at their Cocktail Masterclass. With the help of James we made, and drank, some great cocktails and because the atmosphere was so friendy we stayed on. James and Eva are great hosts. Most definitely, we are going to book to do this again the next time we visit Brighton.

This is a wonderful venue with a strong vibe of Jazz and Swing fun, with the best cocktails to go with it. For cocktails I recommend the Big Lebowski, Mr Lover Lover, and a Bootlegger! Great for seeing some great local jazz and swing bands live downstairs, with Swing classes in case you're interested in learning the dance of the Prohibition Era 🕺💃 Definitely recommend when in Brighton, go pay them a visit!

This is an absolutely amazing place to go to. The staff go absolutely above and beyond with everything and make you feel welcomed. The cocktails are always on point and very tasty. The events they have are amazing, with so much thought and care gone into them. The swing lessons and live music is always wonderful and the bands keep getting better and better.

Cute place. Enjoyed our cocktail. Was early so atmosphere was still building. Nothing to do with bar but kids if you're ill don't go out and sit there coughing over everyone!!! I felt so uncomfortable that I left 🤬

If there wasnt something available, Tam knew exactly what is it should be replaced with! All cocktails came out INCREDIBLE!! Tam really knew her stuff and made our night the best! My absolute favourite bar in Brighton. The staff are all so friendly and accommodating and the atmosphere is always upbeat and fun. I've honestly never seen a live band there that I didn't enjoy. There's such a great selection with loads of brilliant drinks, without the issue I get at most cocktail bars where all the fruity/rum based drinks are inexplicably ruined by coconut. The flavoured shots like Jammie Dodger and After Eight are such a highlight too! It's incredibly obvious that a lot of love goes into running this place so it'll always be somewhere I bring people when we're looking for somewhere good to go out in Brighton.

I consistently have found The Bootlegger an exceptional experience, and has now become my go to spot. There's always a welcoming atmosphere, characterised by the warm and friendly staff who honestly always deliver an amazing service. The cocktail menu is diverse, with a range of classics and interesting drinks that's always worth recommending. I always enjoy the regular events that include live performances from jazz, blues, and rockabillly bands. There are weekly dance lessons downstairs, along with quiz nights, and movie nights. The Bootlegger is a great and memorable place to be and an essential visit to anyone in Brighton.

We came as a group and i must say, I could not recommend this bar for cocktails more highly! Tam went far and beyond to ensure we had the best night... I for one, cannot wait to return!

Excellent pub bear Brighton seafront, with a great atmosphere to boot! It was all too easy to spend a few hours here on a Saturday night and get a bit too merry! The staff were really friendly too and the drinks were great.

The vibe in this cocktail bar is like stepping back in time, with great interior, friendly staff (callum and tam thank you so much!), delicious cocktails and a piano for vibey tunes. Highly reccomend this spot for evening drinks. What a lovely hidden gem! ❣️

Everyone was so lovely, throughout the night me and my friends were served by Callum Adam Evie and tam, and they were all so nice to us and looked after us. The drinks they made were also amazing.

I come to this bar often and it’s always a lovely vibe! I really enjoy the selection of cocktails and the music is great! The bar staff are kind and attentive. Ethan, Callum, Tizz, Evie and Tam always remember me and it’s all smiles as soon as I come in ! Deffo go visit for some lovely vibes and yummy drinks!

Fantastic cocktails for all tastes. The staff were wonderful and accommodating for virgin drinks. Avoid substitutions and requests out of respect of the team but where they came up the staff were fantastic about it. Book ahead for large groups. We had a party of 20 who booked ahead and the staff were prepared and speedy despite the packed bar.

Absolutely love coming here, best cocktails by far in Brighton! Especially if you love something on the more adventurous/quirky side compared to your normal classic cocktails! Never known anywhere to have such a variety, some mind blowing choices, literally spoilt for choice! Friendly staff & great service too. I absolutely love going to The Bootlegger. As a regular, I can't get enough of the prohibition-themed ambiance and the delightful selection of cocktails. The 20s-60s music adds a charming touch to the whole experience, making it feel like a trip back in time. The standout was definitely the talented bartender, James, who crafted the most exquisite cocktails with finesse and flair. The mixology skills are top-notch, and each drink was a delightful masterpiece. Even when I'm unsure of what I want, James crafts the most amazing off-menu cocktails that never disappoint. I highly recommend Bootlegger for a nostalgic and enjoyable evening out.

Amazing service and great staff, Evie and Callum (who work downstairs) we’re very polite, professional and quick with service. Would recommend to anyone looking for nice cocktails that get you smashed. Happy hour also everyday of the week.

The cocktail menu was fantastic, with a nice mix of traditional drinks and custom creations. All of the staff were very kind and fun to chat with, and the owner is incredibly nice as well. The atmosphere is wonderful, with nice lighting and great music, perfect for hanging out with a group or to take a date.

Doorman was only following ordered like. Howe me never. Verr displeased. Granted access t t bar. Ignored like some ragamuffin. When I’m waiting said doorman kicks me out. I have him hard gimme you know how it is. Based upon the inorgonization of bar pamphlets. Ridiculous and all like.

Arrived here last night after walking around in torrential rain and the staff made such an effort to fit our large group in. They really made us comfortable and looked after us so well. The drinks were lovely, especially the margarita (tequila is my favourite so I have high standards and they definitely hit the mark). Our birthday girl also received free shots from the bar! Brilliant venue, definitely recommend.

This could be such a great little place, the cocktail selection is amazing and it is reasonably priced. However, the atmosphere was meh, the staff all seemed miserable and my partner was served his drink in a glass that had lipstick on it. I would visit again though, maybe we just caught them on a bad day.

Great hidden away bar! The downstairs has a little stage for jazz and swing night on Thursdays and Saturdays! The pints are pricey but £6 for an asahi on draft is alright-ish

Found this little gem on a day trip. We didn't know it existed just saw it after a long day viewing Brighton. So glad we came across it. The best cocktails and friendly staff. Also had our dog with us and was welcomed to bring him in. He was given treats and water. Wished we could have stayed but was heading home. Will 100% return when we next come to Brighton. Cocktails were perfect and strong and I left very merry :)
