I've lived in Stirling for a while and seen various small businesses in the city centre come and go. The Book Nook is a lovely, welcoming little addition to Stirling, well worth a visit from any local or tourist. The passion here comes through in the sheer variety and availability of books, perfect for browsing and buying for any book enthusiast you know (or yourself!). and the knowledge of the owners when it comes to book recommendations is fantastic. The coffee + bagels are delicious and the atmosphere inviting, so understandably it's a popular spot. The good news is the beverages and bagels on offer are available for takeaway on those busy days. I've found staff are friendly and helpful, always willing to try and secure a table for you if you're polite to them particularly when it's looking busy and buzzing. It's a unique space, well worth supporting however we can (particularly at the moment, when multiple parts of Stirling's town centre are shut off as road infrastructure improvements happen). I also love the local notices as you enter on the right hand side too, it's great to see a space like this being used to connect local people too. Keep up the good work folks.

This is a lovely cafe and bookshop. The bagels are great and the cakes are delicious…but there is a big problem. You can never get a table. This isn’t because it’s so fantastic. it’s because every table invariably has one person sat at it, with their laptop out and books spread around them, usually accompanied with an empty coffee or tea cup which was bought two hours earlier. We happened to be passing and noticed an empty table and so we nipped in and had some lunch. During that time we saw three different people come in, look around and leave. No tables free. More like a library than a cafe. Very disappointing. Stirling has lots of cafes, some very good, I’d suggest doing what I’ll do in future…try somewhere else.

This cafe was lovely. The decoration was simple, but nice and there was a brilliant range of books. Our coffee was great, but I was disappointed with the range of food being only bagels! Adding more range to food options would make this one of the best cafes I have visited.

We sat down at a table (as no wait to be served) and not sure why but got told off for sitting at it as it was not cleared and the atmosphere was really frosty from then on including hearing staff member grumbling about us to other staff. Maybe because we what in the sofa seat? Who knows! Very odd plus other customers sat down before tables cleared. We won’t be back shame as lovely looking book shop with some good reads on shelves.

I live locally and love this cafe, good coffee, good food, atmosphere. BUT too often unable to get a table for lunch because they are being hogged by laptop users with empty coffee cups. Whether they are students or JK Rowling wannabees there are cosy local libraries which provide free drinks. Perhaps management could have a Laptop corner? A large table for laptop users to sit for however many hours it takes to compose their next grand opus. Last time I was in Unorthodox Roasters, another excellent coffee shop, they had politely requested laptop users use upstairs room.

We had to wait on a table, interesting to observe while waiting the people using computers with just a coffee in front of them. Despite the fact that people were waiting none of them made any effort to move. When we left they were still there. Really nice friendly book/cafe with I would guess a regular customer base.

Best coffee around. Absolutely divine baked goods and delicious bagels. The carrot cake and the brownies are to die for! Every time I visit the staff are always so friendly and accommodating! It has such a cosy, home-like feel with all the plants and a great selection of books. I would live there if I could! Bonus- it’s animal friendly!

We really enjoyed our visit for tea and bagels. The staff were lovely, friendly and efficient. They took our order and cleaned our table. While we waited for our food we were able to observe the shop and other customers. A Japanese couple on their laptops, an other couple playing an interesting card game which I would love to know what it was. Finally an attractive lady sitting a window seat drinking coffee and working on her laptop...another author waiting to be discovered? After a short wait our bagels and drinks arrived. I have only ever eaten supermarket bagels and always found them hard work. These bagels were delicious, fresh and beautifully filled. Yum. I want to go back.

Been here many times, it's a favourite of ours! Little one was looking at books and getting comfy in the cost corner. I usually have the cakes and hot chocolate but tried the bagels for the first time which I initially thought were quite expensive at £6 odd. They were amazing! Well worth the money. Our favourite place in Stirling. If you're just visiting Stirling you can't miss this!

Had to find somewhere to work for a couple of hours. Comfortable interior with a large wall of new and 2nd hand books. Coffee good and a range of tea, soft drinks, etc. food is mostly Bagels with a modest range. Mine was freshly toasted, hot and tasty. Wi-Fi worked well. Mixed clientele of workers, students, folks with wee kids … and dogs: Dogs allowed. Got quite busy when I was there. Overall very happy and might plan to work there the odd morning occasionally.

Great to see this traditional village pub come back to life. Quiz in the bar last night which looked like great fun, often has live music, lovely food at really reasonable prices. Will be going back again.

TLDR: the food wasn't bad, but it certainly didn't live up to the price tag and too many things were predominantly sweet. Stopped in for dinner while on vacation after browsing a couple other nearby spots for food. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either and really didn't live up to the price tag. The haggis bon-bons as a starter were just okay. Not much flavor to them and a pinch of salt would've gone a long way. The menu looked great, and my lady opted to make a meal of a couple appetizers (the shrimp cocktail and the scotch egg), while I ordered the pan-seared duck breast. The shrimp cocktail was not what we expected. The shrimp were the super tiny variety common to freezer bags, not plump and fresh. Honestly it all just tasted like mayonnaise. The scotch egg was another under seasoned item and it was served with a chili sauce that was pretty sweet. If you're familiar with the Panda Express in the US (Chinese fast food), it tasted just like their sauce. It just didn't quite pair well and ate overly sweet. The duck breast, sadly was just not great, primarily due to the cook on the duck itself. It was weird - the skin side needed more time in the pan as the fat has just a wee bit more rendering needed - but the meat of the breast was overcooked. I typically don't mind if my duck is medium, but this was verging on well-done. But it was really the sauce that turned me off, as again it ate really sweet. I understand it was an orange sauce and a little sweetness is fine, but this tasted and had a mouthfeel more like orange syrup than a well-reduced jus with orange, as there was virtually no citrusy aspect that one might find in say a duck a l'orange. I will say that the service staff was very friendly and attentive, and we didn't have to wait long for drinks at any point and the food arrived in good time. But, as with the theme of the meal, my lady ordered a Glenlivet old fashioned - which neither of us were expecting to be sweet, but it very much so ended up almost too sweet to drink. I don't mean to nitpick and we certainly do love our sweets - but not when they're misplaced. So sadly this missed the mark for us, but I'm hoping that we just were in on an off-night. Again, not bad, and I'd still say to pop in - but just wanted to make this review in case it's helpful to anyone.

Very friendly and helpful staff, took plenty of time to explain about all the beers and were offered tasters of any beers we were interested in drinking, there was a great beer selection. Building was clean and tidy, music was excellent. Menus were well displayed.although we didn’t eat the food coming out of the kitchen looked and smelled great.
