We had a lovely Sunday lunch. Great food. I'd called in advance to discuss my daughter's allergies. The duty manager was so accommodating on the phone and everything was followed through on the day we came. It was much appreciated and we had a really lovely time.

I called to book a last-minute table for two at 8.30pm and was told there was a table available in the restaurant area - but that no dogs were allowed. I gave my name and headed down with my son who is 15. We go all over London to restaurants and pubs together all the time, often quite late. But on this occasion - For the first time ever we were turned away because I was told that no children allowed. The manager said it was illegal for under 18s to be in a pub after 8pm. explain that I could understand that if it was just him with friends, but I was there simply for a quiet dinner with my very grown-up teenage son, It was extremely odd. I explained that we went l over the place and that we had never Ever been turned away. Maybe it was a fob off or maybe the manager just gets off on a power trip - ruining the evening for us, I It was annoying, and also quite embarrassing. But why would you mention no dogs but not saying anything about age? A wasted trip. So instead we went to our local pub - and there we were welcomed with open arms,

I’ve been meaning to write this for a while. We discovered the Bolly about a year ago and often pop in on a Sunday for a drink when we walk our dog across the common but we had dinner for the first time this summer and WOW! Great menu and service, we were going to order steak from the a la carte but the waitress pointed out a better deal was available that day on the chalk board which included a really nice bottle of Malbec making it a great mid-week deal. Steaks done perfectly served with piping hot triple cooked chips which are often a disappointment elsewhere. They also had a really good dessert menu. Staff also came and told us that the bar was about to call last orders which was a nice touch as many pubs just close without warning and we were able to order a nightcap before heading home. Also just to add on special days like Father’s/Mother’s Day they always do a lovely offer of free pint for Dad and a glass of fizz for Mum. Such a nice touch! Other locals in the area should take note. Well done to Manager and staff for a really well run operation.

I was sat on a table with my two friends having a few rounds of drinks when a member of staff came around, moved my friend’s phone, placed a reserved sign on the table and walked away with no explanation. A couple of minutes later, another person came by, said that the table is reserved and left. Absolutely rude! We could’ve stayed for more drinks, but won’t be coming back after this.

I have always loved the Bolingbroke and been there many times chose it for my 60th birthday and son’s birthday celebration. Must say a bit underwhelmed today, pie only served with chips, asked for mash told that was only available on Monday! No other option but chips, for a non chip eater a bit disappointing. Air conditioning turned to freezing, on a not very warm (and we arrived wet due to the very wet weather) evening it was a bit much. Asked to move to a free table away for the air conditioning blast but told we could not move, over an hour and a half later when we left, table we requested to move to was still empty. No recognition of birthday and staff a bit uninterested. Won’t rush back which is a bit sad as I have always loved it there normally.

We had a wonderful lunch, the very reasonably priced set menu. Th wild mushrooms with black truffle was absolutely delicious and we were all very happy with our main courses, the tender stem broccoli was perfection. Most importantly however was the service. The staff were so kind and helpful and went above and beyond expectations. I arrived with a home made birthday cake and after a hot car journey they kindly chilled it and happily served it to us at the end of our meal complete with plates , napkins, cake knife and cutlery. They even portioned up the remaining cake and put into takeaway cartons and washed up my own cake plate and delivered back to the table. So very very kind. Thank you Bolingbroke team. Gold standard. We will be back.

I so want the food in this pub to be better. But after a few visits lately I'm giving up hope. The menu and the specials sound enticing enough, but it's as if the kitchen staff just don't have an idea of what makes for tasty food. There's a lot of focus on the presentation - you know the thing; pointless printed greaseproof paper between your food and the plate, tiny ramekins for your sides, artisanal sea salt flakes on your chips, pointlessly char-grilled lemon wedges etc. Unfortunately, aside from a rare occasion of hitting upon a well cooked 'special' (the ribs a few months back were good), the food is just bad. Chips are dry and tasteless; burgers cooked to hell with nicely cut but under-ripe slices of tomato. I had the cod & chips last time I visited - costs clearly minimised on the cut of fish served up - two small fillets rather than a single large one, and an unappetising grey tinge. Batter thick, damp and stodgy. It's as if nobody in the kitchen tastes this food, and kitchen managers looking to cut costs wherever they can as long as the plates meet a visual check. Such a shame, because it's otherwise a lovely local pub.

The Bollingbroke is a charming gastropub offering a delightful ambiance and an appealing menu. The establishment exudes warmth, making it an perfect place for a casual meal. My recent visit to The Bollingbroke left me with mixed feelings. The pub itself is lovely, with an ambiance that encourages relaxation and conversation. The menu boasts an array of enticing options, providing a promising start to the dining experience. However, my enthusiasm waned as we encountered significant delays in the service. Unfortunately, we waited a staggering 1.5 hours for our mains to arrive, and the staff seemed inattentive throughout the evening. On a positive note, when the food did finally arrive, it was delightful. My Pork, despite arriving cold, showcased the kitchen's potential. It was a shame that the temperature wasn't right, significant enough for me to notice and comment on it. Considering the positives and negatives, I would recommend considering a visit to The Bollingbroke when they have promotions on their food. The experience, though fine, did not warrant the full-price tag. With improvements in service efficiency and attentiveness, The Bollingbroke could transform into a must-visit gastropub, but for now, it falls just short of being a standout dining destination.

Into the atmosphere of this place that I always liked and yet more so in the wintertime in which I write this. Dark and cozy with pools of light and warm glows. What started on a very promising note because of the very nice atmosphere soon turned into disappointment because of the mediocre food and slow, shoddy service. My hamburger was overcooked despite being told it would be "pinky" when I asked for medium-rare and was informed they couldn't cook as per request. Our calamari starter was stringy and the fish (as part of the fish and chips) didn't have much taste. We had to wait 45 mins before we got our mains delivered despite requesting our order to be all brought out together because we were only having one appetizer. By the time our desert arrived (sticky-toffee pudding, which was good), we'd been there for over 90 mins and couldn't wait to leave. Something just seems off with this place!

This pub in Wandsworth was recommended to me by a good friend, for which I heartily thank him. You have to know about this gem to get to it and I am pretty sure you will not be disappointed if you do visit. Lovely setting for family gatherings for Sunday lunch, you should book in advance - just to be sure you can find a table. Very pleasant atmosphere and very busy. Pity it was raining - on a sunny day the tables outside must be really nice, especially since the roads around it are pedestrian on Sundays. Had a meze dish to start off while we waited for our friends, with warm pitta bread slices, olives and feta cheese, halloumi and roast synergies and red peppers as well as tzatziki and hummus dips. Yummy. For mains we went for the traditional roast beef and roast pork dishes (with a “Yorkie” , Yorkshire pudding) - crackling included with the pork! We also tried the wild boar sausages and mash. Full to the brim as we were, the charms of the server were not wasted on us and we did try the cheesecake and chocolate pudding, followed by good espressos to keep us awake after such a grand meal. The staff were simply excellent and I will definitely be back next time I’m in London on a Sunday

Strangely from the moment we entered I wasn't particularly taken with the place, partly due to the strange smell, but my guests disagreed and were quite excited. Unfortunately, once the food arrived they quickly agreed. The Seabass was flavourless, as was the cod, the sausages and mash wasn't as bad, but the sausages weren't great. The Guinness was shocking, I think quite possibly the worst I've had, but they were kind enough to substitute it for me. The atmosphere in the pub section was fine, although we didn't dine in the restaurant it did look much nicer. Also it was a dog friendly pub and the staff kindly brought the pup water as soon as we arrived.

One staff member literally told us he doesn’t care that there isn’t any table for us. Although he was rude I decided to go back again just to try the food and it was disappointing. Bland, cold in the middle, nothing really special I’d definitely not go back again due to the rude staff and food quality.

4 of us visited from the West Midlands to watch the Villa game at Fulham, we visited last season and loved it, this time was even better, food was superb, my fish and chips one of the best I have ever had. Our waitress was a credit to you, I just wish I had taken her name. There was a lovely atmosphere and a great mix of people, we loved it.

Curry in a Pub. What more could you ask for? Even my in-laws over from Canada (who hate curry) stated how Marvelous the food was.

Fab pub around the corner from our hotel we were holed up in for the weekend work we were doing! Booked a table of 12 with no issues for a late Sunday lunch and we were all blown away how good the food was & how reasonable too! Most had the Trio of Roast and lots of desserts and soft drinks too. Couldn’t fault anything, even the mix up with the Pea & Ham soup (lol). All in all, great atmosphere in the pub, super friendly waiting staff, and a very reasonable priced Sunday dinner. Keep up the great work and we’ll be back again soon 🙏🏻
