We had a meal, with our dog, and were made to feel most welcome. Staff are lovely and the food is to a very good standard. They even do smaller portions so it's a win win. Brilliant surroundings and very pleasant atmosphere..

Went here for a family meal. Loved the location and the food was excellent.

We went for lunch today and were looking forward to our lunch there sadly we were extremely disappointed. We were seated and asked if we would like drinks. We were not given a drinks menu so chose a white coffee and lemonade. The coffee arrived without milk and we had a good five minutes until it arrived and when it finally arrived the coffee was cold. As we looked at the menu another waitress came to take our drinks order before we had even drank them and before we had ordered food. The menu was a price of paper stained by previous customers and there was a toes or finger nail on the bench seat I was sat on. We ordered a bean burger, and cod and chips. The cod was extremely oily and the chips cooked on the outside but hard in the middle. The meal was not enjoyable. The bean burger was burned on the outside. Very disappointing but we also asked for vinegar which never came. Many waitress but not one asked how our meal was and the customers near to us had to go find the waitress who kept managing to not walk as far as our tables. They also got their order wrong.

Stayed overnight for our anniversary and had such a lovely time, all the staff are absolutely lovely and the food was incredible. Great vegetarian options and all very fresh and tasty. Lovely setting too!

We didn't not stay here as guests, but I had my birthday meal here recently, so room star rating is just a guess. First time eating a meal here and very impressed as was my family. Also had our dog with us. Menu had lots to choose from, well spaced out tables, good view through the window looking out to the broads. Would highly recommend this place

Our first time at the boathouse. We were amazed and felt very welcome when we walked through the door. The service was above and beyond. Nothing was too much. The food was really lovely and presented very well. The atmosphere made us so relaxed we stayed after our meal and had drinks until the early evening. Would definitely recommend it, and we will be visiting again soon.

I took a party of 15 people here last night, people came in at different times,the lovely ladies waiting on us were amazing patient fast and effective too. Praise to everyone who made our evening memorable, the chefs,the ladies waiting on our table. The food was delicious and everyone went away hspot full and had a throughly fab evening..my advise book a table here soon and enjoy thanx again xx

Lovely Roast beef today.. Mum had sea bass and really enjoyed it the view was fantastic overlooking the broad through the window. 3rd time we have been here and won't be the last for sure.

Love, love, love this place. Food is unbelievable, fantastic staff and ambience is just great. Dog friendly too. Menu is very diverse and great value for money.

First time visit today with friends for Sunday lunch and it was absolutely superb! The setting is beautiful, looking out across the broad, the pub interior is stylish and relaxed, and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. There's a reasonable selection of beers, and the food is outstandingly tasty, beautifully presented and excellent value for money. Overall, 10/10 and we'll definitely come again!

I would definitely recommend this venue no matter what the visit type. If you’re looking for a short break or a long stay, the views are breathtakingly stunning, surrounded by the calm waters of Ormesby Broad. As for the staff, every member of staff are so polite, friendly and extremely welcoming. The food is really good and you can tell it is cooked with passion and pride. Thank you to all the staff and for the location. We will definitely be back to visit again. 5 stars and highly recommended.

Went to a wedding here..it was so lovely. All the staff are very friendly, really good at their jobs, the rooms are lovely, the food is spot on..the views are so pretty with it being on the broads. Well worth a visit..

Very very disappointed. Food took over an hour to arrive and quality when it did was not good. Worse BBQ ribs ever tried to eat Could be a one off but this is my honest opinion of our experience on this occasion

Came here for dinner on a trip home from Norfolk to Suffolk. Absolutely beautiful location and wonderful food, lovely/very friendly staff, very accommodating. Loads of parking available and the location is outstanding, we came on a summer eve with the gorgeous sunset, boats and ducks in our view from the table. Can't wait to come back here again. 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Absolutely lovely, given a warm welcome had drinks & food in the evening in their restaurant/bar very efficient friendly staff, great views across the lake a very good night's sleep & then an excellent breakfast served by the manager. Don't believe the bad reviews! Service was great, food was fantastic. Busy on a Wednesday night, tells you all you need to know really.

Location is beautiful. Great scenery with lots of quackers which pleased my wife. Pub / restaurant was quaint and well kept. Staff were helpful and friendly. Menu selection was good and prices were not too bad considering the location. The thing that let it down was the food which was just ok and this is what we came for. There was some confusion over the pie of the day. I was told it was steak, ale and mushroom but the table next to me were told it was just steak and ale. I didn't order as I don't like mushrooms, so I got the ribs and chicken combo. To my disappointment, the pie didn't have mushrooms and looked rather tasty. As it was, my meal was ok. Ribs were tender and meat fell from the bone, but it was smothered in BBQ sauce which for me was too much. The chicken was a box standard coated breast which wasn't that crispy. The chunky chips were a let down. Either do triple cooked chips or don't bother. These were not soft in the middle, neither were they crispy. My wife had a Cajun chicken burger which was again, just ok. The huge onion rings were a bonus as were the sweet potato fries. Would we go back? Yes, for a beer and the location but no food. Worth a visit if you are in the area.

I went here a week ago, and the food was pretty poor since we got home. we both had upset tummy. The food was too rich and strong, and I didn't like the food. We will probably never go back. It cost me almost £80.00 for food we didn't like.

What a beautiful venue and setting for an event. Plenty of parking, good food and very generous portions. The rooms and the breakfast was great too.

A note for fellow dog owners. I’m sad to be writing this review, having been regular customers at The Boat House for the past few years and have (for the most part) enjoyed the experience. But I think it’s fair to let others know. Unless you can be sure that your dog will be impeccably behaved at ALL times, this may not be the best place to visit. Yesterday we visited with our 7 month old dog, having visited previously without issue with the same dog and before that with our elderly dog. On this occasion our dog was intermittently yelping, which hasn’t happened before. I note that I am overly sensitive to noise and therefore if I had thought that the noise was excessive I would have left immediately. But given that we were surrounded by very noisy children and lots of chatter I didn’t feel it was an issue. Being responsible and experienced dog owners we had bought toys and treats and were very clearly interacting with our dog when necessary. In fact, one lovely member of staff came over to our table just to remark on how well behaved our young dog was! So you can imagine my shock when couple of minutes (if that) after our food arrived we were advised by another member of staff that multiple people had complained. It’s worth noting that it was very odd that we were not advised before the food arrived, if indeed there had been ‘numerous complaints’ up to that point. We were mortified and immediately took our dog outside, leaving our food untouched. We were advised that the only option was to leave our dog in the car. Which , during summer, wasn’t a safe option (or anytime of the year in my opinion), I think most dog owners would agree. On respectfully and calmly responding to the front of house/duty manager (?) i was met with rudeness, he seemed to want to provoke an argument because I would not agree to leave my dog in the car. I did not rise to it and mentioned on several occasions that although I understood that they were in a difficult position, we were not the only noisy ones! The only safe option available to us was to leave. Initially we were asked to pay for the food, but eventually it was agreed that only the drinks should be billed for; which I think was fair. The most upsetting part was that we were made to feel like second class people in front of other customers, it was all very embarrassing. Perhaps dogs are expected to be completely silent in this establishment. Or perhaps we were unlucky on this occasion; the customers may have been particularly judgemental yesterday. Although the people sat directly next to us made a point of letting us know the complaints weren’t from them and that they were shocked about the situation also. I have previously recommended The Boat House to lots of fellow dog owners and family and friends visiting the area, I will no longer do that. We may return in the distant future, as on the whole the staff are lovely, food is good, and of course, the location is stunning. But last night left such a bad taste that for now, sadly, we won’t be back. We will stick to true dog friendly establishments, which thankfully in Norfolk there are plenty to choose from.

Lovely place to stay on the Broads. Beautiful view with lots of ducks to keep you entertained when sitting outside. We ate 3 times in the restaurant and the savoury food was delicious. The portions were massive! Our only disappointment was the banoffee tart which lacked banana flavour and had a soggy tart case. It put us off having dessert again although the others looked nicer. Staff were all lovely and very helpful. Room was comfortable and included a big bath!

The manager fitted a group of 7 in at short notice. Great service by the staff helpful and polite, One of our group was gluten free and the staff had good knowledge and made sure that we got the correct meals . Even that we had been squeeze in at a busy time we wasn't rushed a great experience. A big thanks to the manager and his team .

Had a wonderful Sunday Lunch at the Boathouse the food was excellent. I would highly recommend. It was extremely busy but what an excellent front of house team big smiles We will be back

Food was amazing as was the service, we sat outside as we had the dog. A bowl of water was supplied for him too.

First visit today and it was extremely busy but they still accommodate us as we didn't book, due to the amount of customers it made it very slow with our drinks order, my husband had the steamed skate wing which he is used to eating it, it was overcooked but he said it was very tasty, I had the chicken ceaser salad, the chicken was very dry and there was no ceaser dressing actually on the salad which would have improved the chickens dryness if drizzled with the dressing, the dressing was drizzled around the side of the plate, the granary bread roll was wonderful, after our meal we took our drinks outside as its a beautiful place and I can fully understand why people have weddings there, would we go again of course we will, 2nd visit today just as nice as the first visit but sat outside for lunch with the ducks, swans and geese

Absolutely lovely location, and very nice place to spend some time, drink and eat some food. They put up with our very large group.. unfortunately there was a big muddle up with food even though we'd ordered ahead, unfortunately we were sent an out of date menu. But it was so sorted very quickly and they did their best to correct the mistake. Lovely people great service

Went for dinner on a Friday evening, great varied menu with delicious food. In Hemsby for the weekend and referred by our AirBnb hosts, it did not disappoint! Beautiful views across the lake, ample parking, lovely staff. Can’t fault it!

Viewed the menu online before booking due to dietary requirements. Menu looked good and informed venue on booking a table that a guest attending is vegan. It turns out the Sunday menu is different from the regular menu, more limited. Despite informing of dietary requirement, no vegan options were offered and had to request if a vegan menu was available despite informing at time of booking. We were surprised no starters were available on any menu. Had several different servers which led to a clunky slow service despite not being booked in at a peak time. We had to chase the bill despite requesting it earlier. The desserts were good and highlight of the meal.

Beautiful location on the Broads, the restaurant was well decorated, clean and tidy although incredibly hot inside. The food was delicious with a good choice of vegetarian and gluten free, there is a gluten free menu available but you do need to ask for it...I didn't realise there was a different menu until the dessert! They have dropped a star as the waitress was efficient but very brusque, she was obviously very busy and stressed, at times you felt like you were being told off a little. A fabulous venue to meet up with family and dogs and we all had a great night.

Went to the Boathouse for Sunday lunch, beautiful location and lovely dining area. Ordered roast beef which was so tender and 2 lovely thick slices. Veggies were cooked to perfection all for £15.95 great value, service was also good even though the place was rammed. Definitely going back during our week holiday, I need to try the ribs after seeing them being served. A++

We just eat here as many people do. It's gets very busy so do book ahead. The food is very good with a good variety on offer.

We cannot speak highly enough of the Boat House for making our wedding so perfect on Sunday. From start to finish the staff were incredible and ensured the day ran smoothly. All of our guests complimented how hard everyone worked. Belinda was so organised through the whole process and ran the day like clock work. We had some rain in the morning and last minute when the sun came out they moved everything outdoors so we could have our ceremony outdoors which we are so grateful for. The food was amazing, again complimented highly by our guests! The boat was an added touch which was a highlight to us and we have some amazing pictures from. All the accommodation was beautifully decorated and perfect for the occasion, the bridal lodge is especially lovely. We had the most amazing day and this was all thanks to The BoatHouse!

Our first visit. Location lovely butvery mixed view of our meal. 3 of us. One chose sea bass and enjoyed it very much. 2 of us had the roast which was very disappointing. The beef was thick and tough. Red cabbage very bitter with vinegar. Vegetables very tired and yorkshire puddings dry and tough. Sadly I would not reccomend the food at all. Very disappointed. Won,t be returning.

We came just for a drink by the water( which was lovely). I left my purse/ phone behind. The staff were wonderful, it was returned to me by next day registered post at the expense of The Boathouse. This is exceptional service for which I am most grateful.

Came here with colleagues for the food and it was yum. Totally filling. Couldn't even have dessert! I would like to try out the accommodation next time. But looking forward to trying the food again! Beautiful atmosphere, lovely outdoor sitting area.

Gorgeous set of guest homes right on the Norfolk broads. Rooms were spacious clean and warm and the food at the pub was excellent - lovely service. Will be coming again!

A great little restaurant in a perfect location for the summer visits out pleasant days in the winter months. Inside is very pleasantly decorated and the food and service have improved over the years to now be excellent. Some nice food choices and a decent bar as well. Well worth a visit. Recent packed visit at Easter catered perfectly for our large party. Again excellent.

Nice restaurant. Plenty of room and good atmosphere. Quite busy for a Monday so need to book. Good meal the pulled pork burger was good. Hubby had caesar salad. Think this would have nice views across the lake but we were eating at night.

I took my Wife here for a meal while we were staying in Horsey, very nice place & the service & food were superb, it was getting dark when we arrived but the setting looked stunning from what we could see, thoroughly recommended.

We had our family holiday for three days at The Boathouse and it was a wonderful experience. Mike and the team are incredibly friendly and supportive. We had an unforgettable relaxing time at our private lodge by the lake with all the luxurious amenities and tasteful decor. Food was excellent. The Location is perhaps the best in the area. We have just returned home after staying at this hotel for two nights. This has to be the best hotel we have ever stayed in. The location is amazing, the staff from the minute we arrived until we left were so friendly, professional and inviting, nothing was of any inconvenience making our stay absolutely memorable. The chef is to be commended, the evening meals were outstanding, the full English and Continental breakfast is highly recommended. The room we booked was decorated with no expense spared, we shall without any doubt return here again, we cannot praise enough. Thank you for our stay, so appreciated. Alan and Sharon Wareham

Visited The Boathouse for my brother's 30th birthday lunch. The location is beautiful with a wonderful view of the waters and scenery from inside the restaurant. Food was great as well, big portions which everyone enjoyed they also had Vegan options which were very nice. Good pub food.

It is a dream place for wedding or for enjoying some time off with family as me. A very relaxing area with nice view and fresh air away from daylight bussy traffic and toxic air. I definitely recommend
