Definitely the best chippy in Yarmouth although the small fella serving was very rude and not interested in anything other than being on his phone but the food was amazing to be fair lovely stuff

Sunday 1st September. Came for lunch here today and was very disappointed. After reading the reviews on how good the fish and chips were supposed to be at this place i was looking forward to trying them. However the reviews and what was actually served were two completely different things. Now I have got to say the portions were fine. Nice big bit of cod and plenty of chips. However, although the chips were ok, the fish in batter was awful. Not only was the batter extremely soft and soggy( no crunch whatsoever),but the fish itself was undercooked, translucent in the very middle! I was hungry so I ate the chips but only had the one bite from fish and spat it out, it was terrible. Now I did complain and in their defence they did offer to cook another one but by this time I had been put off completely so declined. No offer was made to me to refund me for the fish however so I left disappointed and still pretty hungry. A bad day?, maybe a new fryer? ,whatever the reason I would not ever eat here nor recommend you do either unless you enjoy your batter very soggy and your fish undercooked

I just wanted a nice portion of chips by the sea. Chips were served floppy and so very greasy, ate about a third of portion and gave up. Had to wait too long to be served as in my opinion shop seemed to be unorganised and understaffed.Will not return as very disappointing.

What a disappointment!! Batter on the fish was so raw it was actually dripping off so complained to owner! No apology just " oh yeah I'll do you another one" I then waited around 20mins for another one which was silently and rudely handed to me and was just as raw and dripping batter as the first!! Absolutely awful service and inedible food!! At almost £17 a meal you expect the batter to at least be cooked at a fish and chip shop and the staff not to be rude and treat you like it was your fault they can't cook it properly!! Terrible food! Terrible service! Will never return!

Worst fish and chips I’ve ever had. Fish was not cooked in the middle and the chips were awful. Would give no stars if I could.

Looks like new owners. Food ran out by 4pm or so. Also halal options not available now. Service was disinterested, no acknowledgement.

Must have new owners as i come to this same fish bar 2 years ago when it was the best ! The fish was Nasty tasteless cod had loads of bones still in the fillet chips wasn’t chips I Had sickness in the early hours of the morning . my friend who is a OAP had fish bone stuck in his windpipe . DONT GO

Possibly the worst food I've ever been given. Thankfully they knew it and we got a full refund when I asked. Defo would not recommend

Didn’t taste the food but the service was so poorly!!! they let you stand there without acknowledging you which is a joke. Definitely avoid and go to t he sea front for fish n chips so much better

Well went 2 years ago wold have been 4 stars but now 3 last time the the fish as great the chips were great the only problem was the mushy pees were served whith the same spoon as the curry sauce but this time today about 5.00 but it was closed when it said it was open but it is a decent chippy

5.23 and closed when open till 10 pm.... Rubbish

Something that is unique about this chip shop it that the staff will make sure you're ok and that you're enjoying your food (which, by the way, is fantastic). Love that you can have your fish and chips and walk (get a bus) down to the pleasure beech afterwards! Grate for if you're on holiday!

Fish an chips the worst I've ever had slimy fish with bones definitely not cod waste of money .chips thin and no taste. Batter hard and dry . Deserves to be shut down. Horrible food

Excellent fish and chips. Nice sitting area inside if you need to get young kids out of the sun. Medium fish was massive. Good value too. Highly recommended.

Wouldn't go there ever again waited for over 30min for sausage and chips and chips were white and very greasy

Beautiful food some of the best chips I have tasted. I had gravy which was divine and the most delicious battered jumbo sausage I have ever tasted. Only issue was we had to request curry sauce for others in our party that was forgotten. Suggestion use a number system to call out orders as we found it confusing just shouting out the contents of the meal.

Slow service and greasy undercooked chips and small boney frozen white fish(not cod), the mushy peas were just marrow fat peas and the curry sauce was watery and tasted odd. Even the vinegar wasn’t real malt vinegar. Not as we’d hoped for our day by the seaside with the high reviews of this place

What a fantastic find! The fish and chips were delicious - fresh, crispy, and not greasy at all. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the whole experience enjoyable. Prices are reasonable too. Definitely recommend!

Came here because of the reviews said it was good. Smallest cod ever. Chips are thin. Not worth it. The picture is before eating.

The chips were undercooked to point that they were still white and hard. Unacceptable and should not be sold. The fish wasn’t bad

We went here after seeing all the reviews and have to say unfortunately we were disappointed. The chips were very soft and appeared under cooked and the fish was ok but nothing special. Five of us ate and not one of us was happy with the food so I'm unsure where all the five star reviews come from.

Use to be brilliant but must have changed hands. Smallest piece of cod I've ever seen chips were soggy covered in grease and cold. My recommendation is avoid.

Came here just after 8 as it says open until 9 and they are shut, please update opening times to save others a wasted journey 🙄 very unprofessional

Fish and Crisps? Sadly the worst chips I've ever had :( The majority were too thin and overcooked like crisps! The ones that weren't thin were undercooked and floppy. Lady was friendly enough but quick to blame the "new bloke", very apologetic but not enough to issue a refund. Left £25 down and still hungry.

Ordered x3 regular chips and they are by far the best in great Yarmouth. Would highly recommend you check out the corner. 👍 also have friendly staff.

Some of the most crunchy delicious batter we've ever tasted. Chips were good lol of flavor and even my little one hoovered them down..This place is a hidden gem amongst the hustle and bustle of all the high street shops.. a must when visiting Great Yarmouth.

I wish I could give negative rating. Unfortunately, it doesn’t allow me to. The cashier was not really welcoming and was giving bad attitude. We visited as a diverse group of friends (Asian & Black), the cashier was very impatient and cold whilst taking our order and offered no/unclear clarification when serving our quite large order. As result we were very confused and had our orders wrongly served and even a bit of tension with other customers at the counter as she literally didn’t clarify what was ours or theirs. Interestingly she was the stark opposite in serving other customers, very cheerful and patient. Would honestly not recommend eating here as it was quite frankly a waste of money patronising a business with preferential treatment, can’t guarantee you’d be well looked after unfortunately. Save your coins!

I was only passing by with my girlfriend but decided to get a potion of chips to share . The chips was freshly cooked and was lovely . The chips were so good we went back for another portion ,when we are next here we will try the fish too , The lady serving was lovely too

Tourist trap - avoid at all costs. Charge 25p per ketchup or tartar sauce packs you get free from Wetherspoons. Also, loud kids running around.

What a lovely fish n chip shop. The service was lovely and the food cooked fresh for us. We had a family break and there were a lot of us Including 2 toddlers. My daughter dropped 2 of her chicken nuggets and without even asking they made her some more at no extra charge. They were friendly and the customer service was exceptional. The food was also cooked to perfection. Thank you for such lovely service we will be coming back again soon.

Really nice service. Gave three stars as today they needed to have cleaned their fryers. Little black dots all over the chips. Fish was ok, not amazing. Think we just had an unlucky day as other reviews so positive.

Hats off to the guys here, we were looking at menu and they had shut, top bloke comes out seeing we had children takes us in and cooks us all food. Food was decent , and the mango tango is top.

Terrible service waited for over 50 mins to get our fish and chips order. Ended up leaving and asking for a refund! Customers served first before us! Told us to sit down every time we went to ask!

Nice scampi and chips. Could've been a bit more generous on the chip portion though. Other than that, nice enough.

Not to jab at other spots but when I came across a fish and chips shop that *didn't* have a big loud sign proclaiming that they were the best fish and chips shop I figured it had to be a winner and The Corner was just that. Impressively crisped batter on the fish (wife insisted I share that point), we got the large chips with fries and gravy and it was all excellent. Large cod and large chips was plenty for the two of us. The lady cooking for us was a gem too :)

I visited this establishment. In my opinion, the portion is too big for one person. I chose the fried haddock with fries. Deliciously. Prices are moderate for a resort town. I recommend

How does this have so many 5 star reviews? The batter was soft and uncooked (pockets of raw batter throughout). The chips had black bits all over them which incidicated the fryer hasn't been cleaned out. The battered sausage was bad and they got our order wrong twice. The worst fish and chips I've ever had!

Delicious fish and chips, fresh fish and crispy batter. Excellent mushy peas and curry sauce. Only downside was the wait, not much of a que but we waited 30mins. Realising the delay It would have been nice if team offered to bring the food outside to us instead of, having to stand up and waiting around.

I agree with previous reviews that the food was cold and the oil for chips was old. Can’t see how anyone rated 3* or above. Walk along further or back and find something else.

We had lunch at the corner today and the food was absolutely stunning! I don’t remember the last time my 4 year old finished a meal especially when eating out as he gets easily distracted but he had the kids cod bites and ate the lot, as did the rest of us! This will now be our go to fish and chip shop in Great Yarmouth with a warm and friendly service and 10/10 delicious food!

Really average fish and chips, just don't understand all the 5 star reviews with people saying "best fish and chips!" a bit fishy if you ask me (pun fully intended but definitely think based on our experience it may have some merit and may be some fake reviews) where to start, batter over cooked, chips ok, not properly de-boned, large cod would be more a small in my opinion. Just bog standard in all aspects of the food. Can't call it a restaurant if you eat in, they don't wait the tables you have to go up and get your own food when they shout, all served in takeaway containers with wooden cutlery so not easiest to eat with. We didn't expect silver service but would have liked a plate if sitting down to eat. Had high hopes from the high star rating, lady behind the counter even mentioned that they are the highest rated establishment in Great Yarmouth, maybe this set our expectations to high. I wouldn't go back and wouldn't recommend, surely a few of the many other Chippies in town are better. Will try a different one next time.

I haven't had fish and chips this good since I was a kid! Excellent portions for the price, and even some gluten free options for Mum! Thanks for blast of nostalgia. Would definitely recommend.

Extremely helpful staff. When asked about allergies they have a separate fryer for gluten free meals which impressed me. Food was perfect for fish&chips supper by the beach. Happy and positive atmosphere. They were also happy to re-cook 1 portion of chips to cater for my autistic granddaughter who is very sensitive to texture and wanted the chips "dryer".

The two ladies in here made it so much more than just fish and chips! They were polite, funny and chatty. Made me and my partner laugh and have a good meal. Plus food is well priced and delicious!

Sadly had a very bad experience and had to get a refund. Wouldn’t recommend the owners leave the older lady in charge again. Shame as the reviews are great.

Very welcoming, lovely guy, didn't have curry sauce so gave cheese for free ( this was a wednesday so ain't surprised ) food is lovely can't wait to come back!

Absolutely fantastic customer service especially from captain Mark he was lovely and the food was gorgeous I had the scampi and chips and it was cooked beautifully, me and my sister also shared BBQ pulled pork loaded chips witch was to die for the pork was tender and full of flavour and I’m very happy with price as a lot of fish and chips shops in Great Yarmouth can be a bit overpriced. I would definitely recommend this as a place to eat.

Lovely fish and chips, cooked fresh. Mark who served me, was such a polite and friendly person. It was really nice chatting with him. I only treat myself to 1 takeaway while away. Which has to be, fish and chips and mushy peas, when by the sea. I made the right choice going in the corner for them.

Stopped at this fish and shop after I read the many five star reviews and it didn’t disappoint. Our food was cooked fresh and it was crisp and really tasty. Excellent quality fish and a fair price for the size of portion we received. The two ladies serving whilst we were there were friendly and welcoming and checked we were happy with out meal several times. Will definitely come back when we are in the area again.

Very friendly Customer service love the chips,cod and scampi they a very delicious Freshly made served hot I would recommend it to anyone that would like to visit Great Yarmouth pier and have fresh fish and chips from the corner.

Food pretty good but the owner didn't know what he was doing and the place could do with a good clean.

We have been travelling around the UK for the last 7 weeks and this is the best fish and chips we have eaten in this time. The staff are very friendly and the service is great. If you are in Great Yarmouth come and see Captain Mark for fish and chips.

Love this place apart from the couple of clowns that were working today, 3pm 23.09.23. Payed £11.60 for the meal, never got the meal, too busy serving guests who came in after me. Returned to remind them, ' I didn't receive the food' response, nope, Anyway, look forward to owner's returning.

One of the best fish and chips I ever had! The fish is battered before frying in a light batter, perfectly crispy and not heavy. The chips were great and reminded me of home made cut and deep fried potato as they were less chunky than most of fish and chips places, which I preferred! The service was friendly and welcoming!

The best fish and chips I have had and being given them by a very humble welcoming owner that appreciates people coming into his restaurant to eat rather than a certain branded chip shop in the front too . Always been greeted with a smile and a thank you for coming into the chip shop I have been here a couple of times now and will definitely be coming back again . This owner tries his very best every time despite being short staffed and under pressure he delivers the best of the best fish and chips

Having done fish and chips myself for 13 plus years, I can gladly say these fish and chips were up there in the top 20 fish and chips ive tried. Not just the food but the service and jolly atmosphere. Even under pressures of being understaffed and people queuing out the door they produced a very good 9/10 for me. Well done guys.
