What a gem! We loved everything about this place and the food was incredible. The chicken burger was outstanding and the best I think I have ever eaten. It was a masterclass in succulent, well-seasoned and fresh food. The hamburger my husband ordered was also exceptional. The views across the boatyard were lovely, the staff polite and service efficient. Lots of parking out front too. We came here in passing, but will be making more visits in 2025.

I attend this venue regularly on Friday evenings when live bands play. The service is fine though I've never eaten here. The beer is VERY expensive compared to other nearby pubs and other venues with no reason. The bands play at super loud volume to the point of distortion and incoherent speech which is very uncomfortable and yet nothing is done about it. It's a shame as the bands are good and we'd love to enjoy them better.

We booked a table for almost 30 people and when I say a table that’s what we asked for 1 long table but instead got 3 separate ones so we weren’t able to sit as a family, this was a birthday meal for our nan and possibly her last birthday and we trusted you to make it a memorable occasion, and while you did make it memorable it wasn’t in a good way, your 2 female servers were lovely, however the management were rude and unprofessional, we pre ordered our food with the deposit paid, wrong food came out and the right food was terrible, Wetherspoons could have done better at half the price, but we let that go, the children’s deserts that were advertised as sundae which in fact was a scoop of ice cream had to be chased and when it came out was just dumped on the side for us to go and get. Then the main carnage, THE BILL…. When you have a large booking surely you expect people to pay separately for what they’ve had?? But no, he expected one of us to pay for the whole thing as he was far to incompetent to do separate billing, I don’t understand what the problem was, why was it so difficult to take separate payments? He was rude and aggressive to several members of the family and insisted my sister write individual tickets for everyone, which she did, however he still after that expected one whole payment, what was the point in her writing out tickets? Also do you always expect your customers to do your job for free?? We came for a meal not an interview although we were more able! So after pissing everyone off and ruining the night the only choice we were left with was for everyone to send me the money and I pay the whole bill, if we had done it the way he was expecting the deposit money wouldn’t of come off and he would of got an extra £130, we would of been happy to leave a tip if we had got the service we had paid for. Please don’t reply with “I’m sorry for your experience , we take all feedback on board” that’s just insulting. You’ve had plenty of complaints from the whole family so I suggest you do the right thing and offer a refund, and a sincere apology, preferably from the incompetent rude manager. maybe we can then find another way to celebrate with our nan who deserved a lot more than she got from your “service”

We booked the upstairs for a birthday party of nearly 30 people. The girls waitressing were polite enough and brought the food quite quickly considering there were only 2 of them and a manager. The children's meals were brought out last which was not good. Some of the food was OK and some not. A sundae was ordered for a child's dessert which had to be chased and was then left on the side, it was not a sundae but a couple of scoops of chocolate ice cream. When it came to paying the bill, oh dear, absolute chaos, one of our party went to pay for their family bill, to be told she couldn't and they gave her the whole bill, she asked him to listen, he said he didn't care and upset her, as she was trying to leave with her poorly daughter. They let her pay after much arguing, but didn't take off the deposit that was taken. Then the rest of us asked to pay separately but was told in no uncertain terms, this could not be done, everyone was getting fed up now and the manager was not very polite about it. He made my niece write down and work out everyone's bill and put each onto a separate piece of paper so we could all pay. What a nightmare and how could they not just let us pay separately and cross off on the bill. In the end we all transferred to one person who paid on their card. Not what you need when you're trying to enjoy yourself. Who's going to pay the whole bill of over £400? Ridiculous. The rudeness of who I'm assuming was the manager, that was hard to take. We have had a few big family meals here in the past, but never again. Oh and we had to remind him to take off the deposits.

Don't know what's happened, but I used to come to the Boathouse a lot. I won't be any more. Between the 2 men talking behind the bar in a foreign language. To being ignored when I asked for menus. Rude and dismissive and lack of customer service. The new manager was shouting in a foreign language whilst hitting himself in the head. Rather disturbing behaviour and I feel sorry for the people who have to work along side that man. I don't know where Sharon and her team have gone. But bring her back! The tables were dirty and sticky. The food was OK. But the service was non existent. And the smell of the pints made me feel sick! Why do lager pints smell of egg. It's was revolting. The bar tender and new manager did not care in the slightest, I didn't even get a refund. This place isn't cheap either. High prices to be spoken down to and shouted at. And heaven forbid, don't mention Sharon to the new manager, he goes flies off the handle about her. Not the response you expect any respectful manager. I would highly recommend people to avoid this place and find somewhere else to spend your money or bring Sharon back.

Terrible service. Me and my partner rang up to enquire about hiring the function room for a baby shower and the manager asked us to come in for a face to face meeting. When we arrived to the meeting (it was scheduled at 10am so the pub was not open), we knocked on the door multiple times and no-one came. The manager had forgotten about the meeting. When we eventually did meet, we booked the baby shower. A few weeks later, I emailed to confirm our numbers and they came back and said they had double booked the function room and we could no longer have it. We went in for another meeting to see what else they could offer us and they offered us the downstairs section of the pub, which we were not overly happy with as wouldn’t be as private but we accepted. Fast forward to a month before the baby shower, I emailed to ask what time we could come in on the day to put up our decorations, a week went by with no response so my partner rang up. During this phone call, he was told the manager had left and the new manager was unable to offer us the baby shower, but no-one had decided to tell us this. We are now weeks away from a baby shower with 70 people invited, family members having booked hotels and we have no venue. Absolutely appalled with how we’ve been treated, unprofessional from start to finish.

Visited Friday evening in a party of 9 for evening meal (pre booked and pre ordered food). Setting of pub is beautiful. Having pre ordered main meal, the food was brought out hot and ready, however we had only been seated max 5 mins before it was on the table. Food was delicious however menu would benefit from more description. For example, the 'pork belly' was a pork loin and the southern fried chicken burger was rather spicy. For desserts, information on options that were gluten free were conflicting. The menu online said one thing, the staff were saying another, and the physical menu provided said something else. Did not fulfil us with confidence. Desserts also could do with further description on the menu. The 'Eton mess' was cream with a dusting of meringue, 4 berries and some fruit compote. A slight difference to what was expected. We were also assured that the manager would make herself known to the table due to dietary needs- however this did not happen. When making the reservation it was not made clear that a band was playing in the evening. Although this not being a problem as they were not due to start until 10pm. However, the sound check was done around 8:30pm and they started well before 10pm. The pub was heavily packed which meant that we could not access the toilet the other side of the bar easily (member of the party is pregnant). When wanting to pay the bill, it took over 20 minutes for this to be given and then a further 20+ minutes for the card machine to arrive. Additionally, on leaving, we had to navigate through the heavily packed crowd to exit. Definitely in need of some improvements.

I am very disappointed with The Boathouse. We booked a table for a special occasion, my 40th birthday, but unfortunately, it didn't live up to our expectations. The service was slow, and the waiter often forgot what we ordered, so we had to ask several times before we received our items. The food quality was poor, and it definitely wasn't worth the price . Certain items were not available on the menu, which was not communicated to us until we were ready to place our orders. Which meant we had some disappointed and moody children at the table. The whole experience felt chaotic and unpleasant. There has been no apology from the restaurant at all. We were left to look after ourselves most of the time. I will definitely not recommend this place to anyone. Also, the play area could use some tlc. There were missing screws and planks in places. There are almost no tables in the shade near the play area, so on a warm day, like today, we couldn't sit outside. Just another letdown.

We visited the Boathouse on a Friday (with live music which was really good). Although we had no reservation, we felt welcome and the service personell was always friendly. The problem was the food which was one of the worst experiences I had so far in my (50+) life! The fish platter (recommended to be shared; true to the motto: a sorrow shared is a sorrow halved) consisted of only convenience food which was rather uneatable; the mouthfeel of the tempura prawns as well as of the squid was reminiscent of moulded meat, not of a „natural“ consistence at all and the sardines were sold out (which itself is OK) doubling the quantity of the squid rings. The side ordered halloumi sticks were anything else but halloumi (in the best case mozzarella). The corn on the cob (part of the kids menu) came directly out of the fridge without having had contact with a grill, pan or any other cooking device. But the drinks, the live music and the service were good!

The function room had its own bar, balcony, PA system and lights and was the ideal space for us. Sharon was incredibly helpful in the lead up to the event, allowing us to decorate the space in advance and giving us plenty of options of food for the party, we opted for veggie curry with lots of sides and it was delicious! When we arrived to set up ahead of the party Josh showed us the room and sorted out everything we needed. Holly and Megan ran the bar for us in the evening and did a brilliant job! I haven't been to the boathouse for a while. I had 2 friends from Australia staying with me and they wanted to eat out, somewhere on the river so I thought we'd go there. It's nice inside, much as I remembered it and the staff were lovely and friendly. Unfortunately, after nearly an hours wait (and the dining area was not busy at all) the food was very poor. My friends had the battered hake - one needed gluten free so that was grilled for her, which was fine. When I asked them how it was they said 'it's ok, I've had better' - they didn't finish their meals. I had a margherita pizza which was the worst pizza I have ever seen, or eaten. It had a dough base covered in thick tomato paste and covered in a few squares of pre-packed cheese barely cooked. I ate round the edges and left the middle. I didn't complain at the time because I didn't want my friends to feel uncomfortable. I really like the boathouse as a venue and I'm hoping we just got the chef on an off day but on that experience I wouldn't recommend dining there to anyone else.

Was very disappointed from the start. I booked over a week before to be told to look at the menu online and send an order by email. There were 13 of us. Tried ringing all week just to confirm they had our menus choices and check that all was good. Could not get through on the phone it kept going to answer phone. After 15 attempts on the day of booking finally got through to be told menus was an old one. We turned up and ordered on the night. Waited for 1.5 hours for food to arrive, one of the chicken burgers didn't come out. They had completely forgotten it. So after another half an hour of waiting we.got the meal, this was now 2 hours after arrival and she had to go and sing in the band so couldn't eat her burger. Asked for it to be put in a takeaway and the young girl literally threw it on the table. Fish and chips tasted of curry or something spicy. We said we werent going to pay for the chicken burger in the box and the lady said welll if you don't pay for it you can't take it away. But it would only go in the bin anyway. Took an hour for food to arrive and when it did it got sent straight back. Ordered the sausage and mash and the sausages had no colour on them and I mean NO colour so suspect they had been microwaved. They didn't even look cooked. Swapped for fish and chips and the fish was nothing like the images on other reviews. More like Birds Eye frozen fish that had been reheated - flat, greasy and soggy. I'm guessing the usual chef doesn't work on Monday or Tuesday which is why you can't book tables online and they just reheat food. The chips also weren't properly cooked and had no seasoning on them. We left extremely disappointed and went to the local Sainsbury's to get dessert.

Went in for a spot of lunch, however things went totally chaotic. Waitress brought over hot drink, little boy in high chair - left hot drink on edge of table, little boy was well out of reach of table but grabbed the hot drink and now has scolds to his hands and arm. No first aider on site from what we experienced, luckily mum (myself) healthcare professional but I shouldn’t have to be forced to deliver first aid to my 11 month old baby. Charged for full meal and drink, even gratuity!! Fuming about this but didn’t want to make a scene, we were offered a free drink ONLY!! 100% honest, I want my money back, food wasn’t even hot - baby’s burger was spicy and tasted like blue cheese too 😐. Ensure you put hot drinks in middle of table please, also have a first aid kit or burns kit available at all times - it’s legal requirements. Will be writing formal complaint, although apology was made - this should never of happened.

Food was amazing. Shame about the service, the fact that we were forgotten foe over 50 mins. Staff were very blunt or just ignorant in the service.

We visited due to the fab range of gluten free options. Both had the gf sirloin roast dinner but we're disappointed to have no Yorkshire pudding (especially considering how easy Becky Excells gf Yorkshire pudding recipe is https://glutenfreecuppatea.co.uk/2017/10/01/gluten-free-yorkshire-pudding-recipe-dairy-free-low-fodmap/ Nevertheless the food was very tasty and we even treated ourselves to two gf desserts which we shared. Rather expensive though for what was served (meat, potatoes, parsnips, two veg)..... £18 a plate would be more like a boutique hotel) Delicious food, albeit somewhat noisy venue.

Thought this looked like an interesting place and having been to their hotel nearby, thought it was worth a shot. Very glad I booked a table, it was busy and all restaurant tables were booked for Saturday lunch. Menu is good and prices are very reasonable. Service was good and fairly quick, food was really tasty and well presented. I would definitely go back.

We went here for Sunday lunch. The view is nice over the canel boats mooring and there is a kids play area. The Sunday roast was pretty good although probably not worth £16/17 per plate. The ice-cream and brownies were nice. The service was mixed. The first waiter took our order and was very friendly. The second waiter who took the desert order just forgot to put through the order! Then after 30 minutes we asked how long for the food, they asked what our order was again and then also forgot one of the three deserts. We didn't bother to order it for the third time.

Still a nice place, with polite helpful staff, but the menu and range of beers available have been reduced since my last visit.

Popped in for dinner. It was not very busy but it was after the main season that we visited. Staff friendly and efficient. Chose the cheeseboard for desert and the best I've had other than at home. In fact I think it would actually serve two people!

Good night for live music hence 5 for atmosphere. Meal is OK but I have only eaten there twice. Staff have 2 speeds: slow and very slow. Rarely glasses are collected, so take your own back. Parking good, access for wheelchairs and appears very popular with outside seating areas on sunny days. Use more to meet friends as local to me.

Good service from the staff in this pub, the menu was a little pricey but the food was really nice, i wouldn't quite say it was worth the price but nearly. It has a menu which i would describe as slightly limited but with enough staples on there that everyone in my group of six found something not only that they liked, but they wanted to eat. Nice laid back atmosphere, dogs are welcome inside, and it has a nice play area for kids at the back/side

A lovely lunch with chums. A sunny Wednesday in marlborough - what could be better than that! The restaurant is narrow but very long and then opens into the garden- if warmed we may have used that. Very good spanish tapas and lots of it. Waitress was attentive and friendly. A great two hours chatting away and time drifted on. We would return

Waited with no one in front of me for 3 members of staff to have a chat about dogs for an unacceptable amount of time before someone even acknowledged me let alone took my order. Out of the 3 only one of them was actually working..customer service skills nil

If you are in Westbury and want a cheap meal deal (thick sandwich or baguette, cake and coffee) pop in here. Look out for other offers. The shop has some breakfast bar and few chairs to stop and eat in.

Stopped by not long ago whilst out and about wasn’t expecting much considering it’s a burger van type place it kept us going as we wore hungry I can imagine a hot jacket potato being nice on a cold night
