Good quality tapas - slightly expensive. Friendly service.

We’ve been before and it was good. This time however, we went for an anticipated ‘treat’ and they just weren’t interested. 15 mins to get a drink… Calamari was awful quality and on the second attempt we had better product which confirmed we were fobbed off the first time. Octopus was not how I remember it and actually a bit yuk. We were also told we couldn’t have any bread as it was being kept for another bigger table coming in!! £87 later and we left very disappointed and won’t be returning. The place has now got an arrogance about it.

One of the best restaurants I’ve been to in ages. Quality of the food was amazing and the truffle goats cheese was out of this world. The octopus was cooked perfectly and realistically this restaurant tops a lot of Michelin starred ones I’ve been too. Don’t waste your time anywhere else, come here !! Came here for a second time, purchased 12 random dishes. It’s consistently incredible, if u haven’t, come here !!

Tucked away at the Marlborough College end of town, La Bobina is a fabulous place for authentic 'small plate' tapas. The food is delicious, the vibe laid-back and the staff friendly and efficient. Whether you want a quick lunch, a family get-together, a date-night dinner or to enjoy a cold beer at the bar, La Bobina has got you covered. There's a sunny courtyard garden (for lazy lunches) if the weather is fine or plenty of seating inside if not. You can even watch the talented chefs preparing your food, if that's your thing. Whether you're a Marlborough local, or an out-of-towner visiting, I highly recommend La Bobina.

Wow, so rude! We experienced the most surprising and rude service from the manageress, on Friday night. 1. The most bizarre and rude behaviour from the manageress was we I picked up some menus on a nearby empty table when we were sitting on the bar stools. (We had asked for a second menu but it had not arrive). It was laughable, she asked indignantly ‘where we had got the menus’, I pointed to the nearby table She said ’ you did not get them from the table you will be sitting at’ (by the way they were none on that adjacent table) and this is the funny part she came around from behind the bar, literally pulled the menus from our hands and put them back on the table I had got them from. Then another long while before given a second menu arrived. Not only that…. 2.When we arrived, we were told in an unfriendly way the booking we made on line had not come through and we felt unwelcomed, though we had an email to confirm, which we showed. Lots of tables were free and many remained so during our stay. 3. Asked for drink, the manageress took the order then spent ages making a coffee before getting our drinks, despite other staff behind the bar where we were sitting, again felt like we were not wanted. It’s a real shame as the other staff seem so friendly and the food lovely. Really, this individual should not be front of house if she cannot remain polite and professional.

It's a really nice place to eat, staff very friendly, the only criticism is the price, it is a bit expensive.

Food delicious, a couple of dishes a bit over salted. Service appalling. On arrival we waited almost 15 minutes to be offered a drink. All serving staff were chatting at the bar area. We were just discussing leaving and going elsewhere when a staff member approached our table. Drinks ordered. They then eventually came over and asked if we wanted nibbles. Yes we did. Order taken. Nibbles arrive, get eaten, plates cleared. Still no tapas ordered. Drinks almost finished, finally the tapas order is taken. Two of our 12 ordered dishes arrive. We wait for others. We wait, wait, wait. The person who ordered these dishes decides to eat (meat, we had two vegetarian with us, so couldn’t be shared between us). By now these dishes are cold Our drinks are empty. One of our group goes to the bar to order more (there were only 3 tables in so hardly rushed at the time) Plates eventually arrive, and are lovely once we can all eat together. A service member of staff was extremely rude to one of our table, and I mean EXTREMELY rude. On leaving this staff member was at the bar and ignored us all, no thank you for coming, have a good evening. Nothing. Disgusting. We spent many hundreds of pounds, with an included 10% service charge, had we not been in a hurry to get out as our friend was so horrified at being spoken to they way they were, we would have asked for this charge to be removed. Having read similar comments, it seems poor and rude service is rather common. With other similar establishments with in the area, we definitely won’t be returning. Take your chance.

We love this place. The tapas is excellent as is the service (usually) and the atmosphere. However, we went to Paella Night yesterday and were disappointed. It was a little chaotic. First ly, we were given the wrong table and were subsequently asked to move. Then, when we asked to order our Paella we were told that it would not be ready for another 20 mins. In all, we waited 45 mins. When the Paella arrived, it was overcooked and lacked taste. There was no squid in it (essential) and the sausage used was virtually tasteless. It was not seasoned correctly. As I said, we love this place but we will not visit for Paella Night again.

Brilliant restaurant, wonderful staff and food.

Amazing place the staff have always been lovely. I live close in the area and have been going here with friends and family since I discovered the place last summer. The food is amazing but would mainly like to thank the waiting staff, they are always friendly and are happy to help even when we are finishing late so I’m shocked to see some of the reviews on here! Overall 9/10 only loosing one point for the pricing being quite expensive.

My husband and I were absolutely blown away by our valentines evening at La Bobina. I couldn’t recommend it highly enough. The food was outstanding, every dish delicious. The potatas bravas were one of the best I’ve ever had I am back and forth to Spain quite regularly. It’s on a high ranking with one of my favourite places in Barcelona. The chicken croquets and gambas pil pil were devine. I also want to say a huge thank you to the staff. Our waitresses were extremely attentive and always had a huge smile for us. I love the decor and intimacy of the place. It was a busy evening and we felt very spoilt. We missed out on the cocktails as the Spainish white wine was delicious. I wish I had taken down the name of it. The cocktails are on our list for another time. I have just read the reviews below and I’m astounded this is the same place. If you are visiting Marlborough this place is a little gem. I loved it!

Service noticeably improved since my last visit and food just as delicious. Waiting-on staff were super - friendly and efficient. Great to see the chefs at work - they make some delicious tapas! We had a lovely evening thanks to the team.

Beautiful food and lovely atmosphere as usual. Unfortunately the staff appeared to have things to do and were very keen to rush us out. Checking their watches continuously and rather abrupt in their manner. Such a shame as it ruined a usually lovely evening at La Bobbina

I am really disappointed and frankly quite annoyed with our recent experience at La Bobina, Marlborough. This restaurant has been a favourite of ours for quite some time, and I've always sung its praises to my friends. However, our pre-Christmas get-together last night for eight friends left a bitter taste. The food, as always, was delicious; there's no denying the culinary skills at work here. But as is often the case, good food is only half the story. The service we received was poor, and at times even rude. What we found most appalling was the staff's apparent eagerness for us to leave, rushing us through the dinner service. Each time we tried to order drinks or additional dishes, we were met with watch-checking and sighs. Despite being told that the kitchen closes at 8.45 pm, an order placed five minutes before this deadline was received with visible annoyance. The waitress was also incessantly clearing plates that still had food on them, giving us the impression that she'd rather be anywhere else. The final straw, however, was hearing a muttered profanity ("Thank F**K for that") from one of the waitresses as we were leaving. To say that this was rude would be an understatement, and it left us absolutely furious. We spent over £400 in your restaurant, left a £40 tip, yet this is the service we received. Despite the restaurant being relatively quiet, and us not being a particularly noisy group, we felt we were rushed throughout the dinner service. The customer service was abysmal, and it seems that the waiting staff could greatly benefit from a customer service course. I have taken the time to write a note to the manager expressing our dissatisfaction. This experience has unfortunately soured our view of La Bobina, and I am hesitant to return. It was a really disappointing and outright rude experience that I hope no other customers have to endure.

This place has the potential to be great but they really need to work on a few things. Service would be. No1. Come on guys, a big smile and warm welcome is simple and easy. Food was very good other than the Patatas bravas that were covered in too much sauce and not crispy enough. Needs improving no question. Feedback on this is ignored by staff when you do offer it. Service is indifferent and lacklustre. Prices are on the high side so this needs to be better. Piano playing is a total misfit for the restaurant, change the playlist, we are not in a hotel lobby. We had a nice meal overall but only we rolled with the style. Underwhelmed and wouldn’t return.

The food was delicious with fantastic flavours but sadly service was all over the place. The food came out in combinations that didn’t make sense with long waits between dishes. We were left with patatas bravas due to arrive after everything else was finished. It has the potential to be fab but tonight missed the mark.

We came in for quite a late dinner and enjoyed the idea of ordering some tapas and sharing and ordering again. The pork skewers, the flat iron steak, the flatbread, the salad - everything was simply delicious.

Delicious stuffed courgette flower. Outstanding Iberico pork skewers. Very good scallops. Squid was burned, maybe the oil was too hot? We sent it back but they charged us anyway. A little sting in an otherwise decent meal.

We went in when it was before the peak times. The service was adequate and the food was ok.

We live locally and have been three times to eat here but twice been overcharged on the wine. Last Saturday in particular the red bottle was listed as 22 pounds but we were billed 26 pounds. The waitress who was very nice was unable to amend this and offered to reduce the service charge which we didn't want to do as the staff had been attentive. We paid up but it left us disappointed as on a previous lunch we were charged 9.50 for a medium red. Please make sure your wine list is updated or that the staff advise of any changes,as this is most unprofessional.

The Tapas we ordered was very good. Some we enjoyed more than others but that's just down to personnel choice. The Staff were very friendly and provided good service. The only thing that disappointed was the Gratuity already being added to the bill. I always tip well if the food and Service is good but would rather that decision was left to me rather it being added to the bill.

Just about the perfect tapas place. We sat in the lovely garden in the evening sun and were served great food and wine with very friendly and professional staff. If you live in Marlborough you have to visit. The truffle mushrooms and goats cheese were exceptional. Fantastic venue.

5 out of 5. Once again La bobina's food was second to none. Thank's to the chefs and waiters. Who were just brilliant. Can't wait to come back....

Stopped in Marlborough on the way home from a night away in the Cotswolds. Food was outstanding and staff extremely helpful. Don't think I have had better tapas. A big thank you to the chef who is extremely talented.

Everything was good except one of the waitress was a bit racist.

We visited La bombina the weekend just gone. We love our tapas food and had eyed up this restaurant some time ago to give a try. On arrival we were seated and the waitress explained this was her first night - no problem at all with this, she was lovely and we all start somewhere. Unfortunately the barmen who assisted her with her drinks order didn't know what seedlip gin was and it took my partner to point out what she ordered from the shelf, we took this in good spirit and then ordered our food. Next to us was table for 6, however La Bombina thought they could fit 8 around it, the poor ladies all crammed next to us and barley had enough room themselves as well staff having to pass chairs over our head as it was not set up in time. No one was on the table before we got there so not sure why it could not have been done in advance. We waited for our food and 5 of the 6 dishes we ordered arrived. Nothing special in terms of quality although not offensive, the Patas bravas was slightly overdone and the sauce was tasteless. Chorizo again was lacking flavour. Butternut squash was powdery and looked tasted a lot better when you scrapped what was put on it off. The other two dishes were ok. We still had not had our prawns pil pil at this point. 15 minutes passed since we finished and a another lady went to see where they are. It turned out that they had not been put through so she asked if we would still like them. I said yes but really i wished I had said no. Another 15 minutes passed and the Prawns arrived. This has to have been the worst prawns pil pil I have had. Way to much garlic, lukewarm, and the prawns were unprepared and rubbery, prawns should be either fully prepared or shells left on. We told the lady how they were and another gentleman did tell us he would take them off the bill. We then ordered dessert as I love cheesecake and again this was disappointed. I'm pretty certain the randy with this should be slightly more burnt off and the cheesecake was very mushy. Certainly not like what we have had in Spain. Overall the venue is nice and most of the staff try there best. It did seem at times that a lot of them were just stood behind the bar rather then waiting on us or other customers. The lady that was doing the toilet checks was also unprofessional in Saying "just doing the worst bit of my job" - I understand these need to be checked but maybe it can be done without passing comment and then leaving all the water still in the sink? I really hope other peoples experience is not like ours. Its a great location and with some training to staff and some improvements to food it could be a good place to visit, I am afraid however I will not give this another go to see if it does.

More of a mix of Mediterranean dishes rather than authentic tapas. Small portions and ours were warm, not hot. Service polite but understaffed and rushed. Nice surroundings but very much let down by food. Unlikely to go again.

Friendly service and very good, varied choice of tapas. Prices are on the high side but given the quality of ingredients and skill in their preparation they are not unreasonable. This is food to savour, not to stuff yourself.

Very disappointed- I can't comment on the food as we never got that far, as they managed to mess up our booking. I went in to the restaurant on Friday lunchtime in person to book a table for the following evening. The waiter/barman took the booking, entered it in the system, confirmed what he had booked, a table for 2 on 11 March at 8pm and he asked if it was a special occasion. Yes I said, our wedding anniversary. He took my mobile number too. So I had no reason to think that there would be a problem on the Saturday when we turned up at 8pm. They couldn't find the booking and as the restaurant was full they couldn't say how long we might have to wait for a table. They did say we could eat at the bar but we did not want to do that. We ended up going for an Indian which was very nice but not what we had planned. Not sure what happened but maybe some proper training in taking bookings would be good. Hopefully the kitchen staff are more competent.

Good greeting on arrival and friendly service. We selected a lovely variety of meat, fish and vegetable dishes. All were freshly cooked and delicious. We understand that the restaurant has only been open since June 2022 but we had a wonderful meal and would definitely eat there again. It is a little further away from the centre so you do have to make an effort to get there but definitely worth it.

First visit to this remarkable restaurant. Truly authentic tapas and fantastic service. had a selection of about 12 dishes between the four of us. All cooked fresh to order. I think this place is sensational.

We just had lunch here and my goodness the food is delicious. The beef cheek, Sobrasada and the truffle mushroom croquettes were our particular favourites. We ordered about 10 different dishes between us, had a huge glass of Sangria, a soft drink, a couple of coffees and shared a desert (as it was all we could manage!) and it came to a little over £100 which for a really good restaurant in a town centre is about right in our experience. Service was great and we really enjoyed the ambiance. If you want piles of cheap food for next to nothing then this isn't the place for you - try the Hungry Horse in Swindon. But for really lovely authentic Spanish food in a gorgeous little town I couldn't recommend it enough.

Really nice place and food was good but they hadn’t got the heating in high enough so we were cold and it was smears because lots of light bulbs had blown. Surely when you’ve got lots of light bulbs not working someone should replace them.

We always seek out tapas bars on our travels, and we’re quite excited to find this one in Marlborough, Wednesday was unfortunately a bit quiet, so the vibe was missing. The guy serving was very helpful and the service excellent, the food was also in the main excellent, the beef cheeks were particularly good, as was the octopus, The cured tuna and cured beef were both served with nice additions. But sadly these 4 items with service charge added were over £50.00! As nice as they were, this is a way too much for a tapas bar, as the portions were barely enough for 2 to share, our favourite UK tapas bar Calvo Loco in Exeter, has nearly all priced between £5.00 and £8.00 including seafood, and the portion size is bigger as in the menu. People want value for money, and whilst the food delivered the value sadly did not.

The general atmosphere is boring and the staff unattentive; but worst of all is the price for what is quite poor food. Wasted a lunchtime here and will not be going back. The menu was quite limited and each dish was nothing more than average. If you want Tapas go somewhere else.

We had a super lunchtime meal back in the Summer. The food was excellent and the garden is a great spot to spend a couple of hours. Only negative was it seemed a bit short staffed and we waited for a while for a dish that never arrived. It did not spoil the meal but perhaps with more hands it would not have been missed. We visited this new restaurant in Marlborough a few nights ago and I’m disappointed to say it didn’t wholly live up to the reviews I had read. It’s a lovely setting, nice surroundings and the garden looks lovely to dine in. We were given a table directly opposite the open kitchen area. We ordered our drinks and also a jug of tap water. Our drinks arrived and a large bottle of spring water. Not what we’d asked for. Food was ordered. Bread and olives first. Then Patatas Bravas, green beans with almonds, a tomato thing on bread and I had the pork belly special. The patatas were lovely, but I’m sorry to say everything else was a bit of a let down. It was all far too salty. So much so that we couldn’t eat it all in the end and left stuff on the plate. Even the bread just seemed to be bog standard supermarket French bread stick. My partner had a gelato affogato (or something similar) for dessert which she loved. I had Spanish brandy. This came out in a large whiskey tumbler and not a brandy glass. Just attention to detail for me. We had 1 large and 2 medium glasses of wine in total. Bill including 10% service came to just over £92 which seems to be what I’d call Marlborough prices. All in all a pretty disappointing meal & can’t see myself going back. There is another Tapas in town called Tipi Tapa and my partner thinks that is much more authentic and better. I’ll be checking it out.

I have never tried Tapas until I visited La Bobina, I was quite simply blown away. The food is a taste explosion with tastes to suit every pallet. We were a group of 4 so we took advice on how much we would need and picked the dishes to try. They are delivered sometimes together then some individually over a longer time, giving you chance to savour and enjoy. Everything tasted wonderful and I have never eaten better. Considering they are a relatively new restaurant they are a joy to behold. I only wish they had one local to me! Fantastic.

As a regular visitor to Spain, I appreciate tapas is not served all at once, the service was extremely slow, taking over an hour to serve 8 dishes. Grossly overpriced. "Tapas" at prices one would expect to pay for a main course. Would certainly not...

We tried 5 different plates, from lamb to scallops, beetroot to a pile of green chillies. Everything was completely delicious. Great front of house service and quality wine. Not cheap, but very very good.

Our ladies group had a fantastic lunch. Great service, atmosphere and the best tapas. All our choices from an extensive menu did not disappoint in taste and portion size. We will be back soon.
