Giggling Squid in Wiltshire

Wow, absolutely delicious. Warm atmosphere and friendly staff. The food was fantastic, and the service was quick and friendly.

We been to this giggling squid branch in early October for birthday lunch. I must say the decor is beautiful and staff is friendly. Also, space is quite big. As we took our 7 months old baby there was enough space to keep our buggy next to food table and we could stroll around to keep her entertained while others are eating. Food was great and tasty, we tried pad thai, pork dumplings, red thai curry, chicken wings, chilli mushrooms and desserts. Dessert was truly delicious. I found prices reasonable with good portions. Overall we had wonderful time at giggling squid salisbury and I will definitely recommend it.

Saw the sign outside saying they were having a £10 pad thai and drink deal and decided to drop in :) I had the chicken pad thai and a ginger beer which came quickly and was delicious - definitely worth the money. Nice and clean environment and staff were friendly and professional. Special shout out to Pukie for her excellent service!

2nd time visiting here, as was great last time. Food was excellent again and the use of herbs and spices were delicate. We were mainly served by Jade who was lovely and attentive. She was also passionate about the food they were serving. Highlights for me were the ginger mocktail, the amazing slow cooked pork belly starter and the use of mint, coriander and chilli to lift the dishes. Everyone enjoyed the food and drink and the restaurant was clean with a nice relaxed atmosphere. Only downsides were that the temperature was a little cold and they looked a little short in terms of servers. However, would definitely recommend. 🙂

I would have given a 5 star review if it wasn’t for the rude grumpy manager who other than to tell us we’d be waiting for a table of 10 to be served before us didn’t even say hello, let some smile. We were standing for 10 minutes waiting to be shown to our table despite it being available and right next to us. If it wasn’t for my mum who was tired and cold after a long journey we would have walked out. We were the only ones waiting other than a couple behind us who walked out after waiting a few minutes. Really disappointing and no need for such poor service. The saving grace was a lovely young waiter, full of smiles and attentive. The food was delicious, varied and beautifully presented. We’ll go again if the grumpy manager is on her day off.

First time visiting this chain, but will definitely be back again in a location closer to home. The food was lovely and came out in amazing time, as did drinks. I highly recommend the salt and pepper squid - I just couldn’t get enough of it. Staff were attentive and very quick with their service, which topped off a great experience. Really poor experience at Giggling Squid Salisbury. The receptionist firstly made us wait 10 minutes while she seated a guest and took another large tables' order. Then when she returned, she gave us the once over, asked if we had a reservation (which we did not) and turned us away (at 2:30pm) from a restaurant that was visibly empty. She then proceeded to seat the patrons behind us, while watching as we left the restaurant. A quick Google search revealed that there was in fact availability 10 minutes later. Shocking, really.

Went here today with just my friend. Upon arrival, there was a strange man with his family who didn't seem to understand there was a wait time. And instead opted for a weird intimidation tactic (which did not work) of glaring and walking slowly backwards out the restaurant without breaking eye contact or blinking. The kind 'receptionist' seated us after telling us there would be a wait. The restaurant was super busy which me and my friend didn't mind. Our food came out in good time and perfectly cooked. Our server was fantastic and a good laugh. Really really appreciated her.

Giggling Squid was very nice in aesthetic and good service but the food could've tasted a bit better. The presentation was great but left a bit to be desired.

Presentation is just as important as the taste, and you will not be disappointed with either. Looked amazing and the taste was fresh and warm to the pallete. At no point were we rushed between courses or to pay the bill.

Had an impromptu visit to the giggling squid on Sunday. We hadn't been for a little while and after figuring out what the wife and I wanted to eat, we decided a visit to this beautiful restaurant. It is beautifully decorated inside, with lots of room. A great menu with lots of delicious dishes to choose from. A great setting for a nice romantic meal, family gathering, party. Highly recommended.

Super lunch ,great value,lovely staff. The lunch tapas is great value and the platters were surprisingly filling. I had the Royal which was extremely tasty. My wife had red curry which she thought was good value and excellent. We will be back

Superb food, lots of excellent vegan options. Food arrived quickly, prices were reasonable, and the service was impeccable. Wish there was a branch nearer to home, but if we're near a branch again, we will not hesitate to eat there!

Our first time coming to Giggling Squid. The colors, the space, and the flowers setting of the restaurant are very impressive. Services are great, staff are kind and polite. The food is tenderly made, delicious, and beautifully displayed.

Mediocre thia meal, part of big chain should have known better. Found out after original Thai restaurant down arcade next door. Staff friendly

Had a dinner here during our stay in Salisbury. Service was pretty good, and the Thai cuisine was quite authentic. A good choice if you are craving for Thai food.

What in god’s name has gone wrong here!!!! Heard a few bad things and it had got worse but tried at Xmas, and yes it had gone downhill! But though I’d still give it a go again as had hoped it would pick up! But oh my god it’s got even worse!!! Firstly this used to be No1 in Salisbury! Was my favourite place but tonight has just sad!!!!it’s a Thursday by the way! But 20minites for a drink!! 45minutes for a started!!! 1.5hrs for the main was quite frankly embarrassing! Not to mention having to have to eat our starters with our hands!!! Food used to look bright and tasteful!! Now it’s bland and cold!!!!! £90+ for this meal was disgraceful!!! Was supposed to be a special night out and quite frankly you ruined it!!! Cold fatty sloppy ribs in an onion gravy was not what we had hoped for!!! Go back 2 years and take some pride in what you used to do! Absolute rubbish!! Oh and £7.80 for a bottle of beer! Come on!!!!!

The best meal that I have had in a long time. Great service too. Also, the perfect Aperol spritz was very much enjoyed! 😀.

I went for a late dinner. Personnel were rushing us out when we finished. The cocktail (Hugo) used syrup instead of proper cordial. Curry was good, and so was the fried squid. The pad Thai (giant prawns ) was not that good, and was disappointing.

A wonderful restaurant! excellent food, great service with friendly staff. Beautiful decor too. We weren’t sure what to order but the staff were extremely knowledgeable and helpful and their recommendations were spot on!

The food is okay, but I feel it is really small portion like kid portion. I had set menu and jungle curry. I feel it is expensive for me and didn’t feel full at all.

Visited here this evening. I have a severe intolerance to onions which is always a problem. The young waiter event over and above to find me something from the menu that would be safe for me to eat. In the end he found two dishes that were suitable and the one I chose was delicious. The other members of staff were friendly and welcoming. Definitely somewhere to go for a pleasant experience.

Having wanted to go there for ages the food was delicious, & the decor was lovely, however we were greeted by an unenthusiastic waitress, who took our orders not at all friendly, the restaurant was quite busy, so the staff passed us often,not one of them asked how is the food, when I came to pay the bill I asked the waitress to remove the service charge, & explained why she said sarcasticly ..have a good day yeah! not the sort of customer service you expect, shame ..As it slightly marred our experience

Giggling Squid is going to be my regular one if it's around on my holidays. Have tried couple of times at different location especially at Harrogate and always get same quality and taste. Very convenient location and good service. Atmosphere is top class as always and food is the cherry on top. Always delicious and variety you can choose from veggie, meat to sea food. Prices are pocket friendly. There's nothing you can complain. Defo coming back again.

Went for my birthday and had an awesome meal and drinks. Staff were very nice and the food was really amazing. Drinks were lush too!

We chose the Red Duck Curry and the Royal Curry, the first with duck and the second with salmon. The dishes were very tasty. Dessert was Choco Dessert, a kind of very good pétit gateau. The dishes on the menu are described with the drawing of a pepper to highlight the most seasoned ones, but even those that are not marked may contain the pepper in the sauce. Good option for Thai food.

If you like microplastics this place is definitely for you. Lack of knowledge about origins of the meat . Food os definitely pre cooked not fresh. Everything comes from plastic. Expensive and 10% service charge. Never again

Fantastic! The Lunch Tapas is highly recommended (with four portions of every Thai dish you can think of!) And you can't leave without trying the Black Sesame and Jasmine & Rice ice-cream - trust me, it works!..

Everything about average. I can’t say anything that blew my mind but there is nothing and either. Food came to table relatively quickly.

I’ve visited Giggling Squid many times over several years - for their Thai tapas lunch. It has always been great. However, I took the family their for an early dinner on bank holiday Monday and we ordered from, not the lunch menu, but the main menu. What a disappointment! We had a sharing starter which, at over £30 for a spring roll, ONE money bag each, a sausage that was completely over powered by lemongrass and some very bland lumps of un-crispy beef, was overpriced and, to be honest, lacking balanced flavour in everything but the spring roll. We then waited close to 30 minutes before our mains turned up. At no point did any of the staff come over and explain the delay or apologise. I know, they don’t have to, but, if you value your customers then speak to them instead of just bumbling around tidying glasses. I had chicken Pad Kee Mao which was pretty dismal. Again, the balance of flavour and spice was all over the place, the green beans were cold and raw and the plating looked like it had been done by a child. The remainder of the table had Sticky Chicken and Honey Crisp Seafood. The chicken particularly, was over sweet but both were significantly better than the Pad. However, again, plating was not great. Whilst the staff were friendly when they spoke to us, they weren’t particularly attentive throughout. It’s also not great that the first words when met at the door aren’t “Hello” or “Welcome!”, but “have you got a reservation?” Fair enough if I’d walked into a packed restaurant but it was,at best, a quarter full. And then, to be presented a bill of over £100 and to have 10% service already added, and for the waitress to point out I could add a tip to the card machine too? Just beyond the usually pleasant experiences I’ve had there before. As I said at the start, I’ve had many great lunches at Giggling Squid, with super great service. This visit was the polar opposite and I can’t imagine what has changed to make it so poor. I will be back, for lunch, if only to understand if that’s become just as poor too.

Very good food and atmosphere, large variety of dishes, the staff was kind and service was quick. A little pricey (especially the wine), moreover they apply 10% tip automatically in the bill without asking in advance. Nevertheless good experience

Favourite place to eat!!! Dan from Salisbury Giggling Squid made me the best coffe I have ever drunken and food was amazing! This place and Dan are made my day!! Will definitely come back again! 🙂⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

What a perfect lunch to celebrate my Daughter’s Birthday, the drinks was amazing, food was delicious, we both finished our food, and the surprised compliment dessert is a bonus, one of the moment my daughter will never forget, Giggling squid is her favourite restaurant now. The service from the waiter was fantastic. We will come back.

Delicious food and great service, a must visit if you like Thai food!

Despite living so close we have never been to the GS restaurant. My family and I went for lunch on Saturday and we were very impressed. The service was excellent with very attentive staff. The lunch menu was exactly what we had hoped for. The quality and choice was amazing. We will definitely return.

The food was fine but not great

Took ages to take our order. No check back to make sure food was ok. Food was ok but small portion. Card machine not working despite 3 attempts. Had to go to cash point to get cash to pay. Overall not good experience. No discount offered not even a free drink. Poor overall.

It was our first visit but end was extremely disappointing. Food was overpriced and very small portions. Food was precooked as didn’t taste fresh. Also paid £13.18 for the worst service ever. It was complete waste of £145. Unless someone has too much money to waste I wouldn’t recommend this place. Stay away

Food very good, service very slow despite the place being less than half full. Had to get up and ask for the bill in the end.

Regularly eat here when in Salisbury. The staff are friendly and accommodating, the food is to a high standard and served in good time and it’s centrally located in town.

Changes over the last few years have left a hole in the vegetarian options. In my mind, this is an expensive place to eat with robotic, emotionless staff. Maybe I came on a bad day; however, there is no excuse when your pricing is on the premium side.

Amazing great food nice atmosphere

My 1st time visiting this tai restraunt I was very impressed. Lovely decor, very good table service, good choice menu. The food is exceptional, the menu may appear a tad expensive but the price can be justified in the quality of the food. I visited at Christmas time and the atmosphere was very warm & cosy with attentive staff. What I do love is the way they have divided the restraunt into different sections,each having its own character. I will most definitely be dinning here again.

Beautiful Thursday lunch , pre theatre. Tapas was full of flavours and beautifully presented. Staff gracious and helpful.

On arrival told we had to vacate the table in 90mins. Only 2 other tables occupied. Squid starter had virtually no squid and the main course you had to hunt the chicken. Expensive and will not be back.

Visited for lunch with my daughter, it was her first time. Love the Tapas idea. Very friendly staff and we managed to get a table by the window to watch the hustle and bustle of the shoppers in the market square. We had the Salt and Pepper set and the Royal set, 4 different selection Tapas on each set including a wonderful Lamb Massam curry and very spicy prawns. Both sets were delicious and just enough for a lunchtime. Great value; total including a drink and service charge £36. Will definitely be back.

Ate here with friends at lunchtime. Looked forward to the meal as the menu promised much but was left disappointed. Starter of Chicken Satay consisted of two very small skewers of chicken with tiny bowl of underwhelming peanut sauce and finely shredded carrot. The dish was barely warm. My main course of Massaman curry lacked any depth of flavour. I was surprised that the beef was thin, sliced and slightly chewy and not chunks as I expect from a Massaman curry. My wife’s main course of Wholesome Cashew Sir Fry consisted of small bits of chicken that were more like leftovers than prime chicken. It felt as if both main courses had been prepared on a budget rather than using the best ingredients. However the price of both dishes was certainly not budget. To finish, the coffees, once they arrived, as the waiter had forgotten our order, we’re not particularly hot. Overall, a disappointing experience and somewhat overpriced for the quality of the food offered. Unfortunately it is not likely we will return nor find we could recommend to anyone following our visit. PM

Greeted by a lovely chap who seated us, took our order and organised the first round of drinks. I think it must have been the end of his shift because the team that appeared after were very disappointing. Sullen is the best description. No check bank on the meal, which was lovely thankfully. Despite walking past three times and glancing our way, we were not asked if we would like our empty glasses refilled each time we had to flag someone down as if hailing a taxi! Even the table next to us commented. Puddings were lovely, despite being dropped on the table without care. When I asked for the bill it was whizzed over with a prompt ‘can I take your payment?’ We still had drinks to finish. When I asked for the service charge to be taken off, the sullen waiter sighed at me! Didn’t ask how the meal was just offered up the card machine! I have no idea why eateries hire people who are not interested in being hospitable. Staff training would be of huge benefit here. Tasty food is being let down by disappointing staff that really are in the wrong job! I would hesitate to return which is shame.

Have been to this restaurant twice in the last 3 evenings. We choose to have a mixture of starters, in a kind of tapas style, with some greens and a drink, this works well for us. On both recent visits the waiting staff have been very welcoming and efficient. The food has arrived quickly and we’ve enjoyed it all and it’s reasonably priced, so can’t fault it really. If we re-visit Salisbury then we’d happily go back to the Giggling Squid.

a very average experience. we sat on a table at the front of the restaurant close to the door (useful if you want to see and hear all the uber eats and deliveroo drivers coming and going, we asked for the drinks list. 5 of the listed white wines were not available and had a line drawn through them. we ordered a glass of the pinot (white). the server came back to the table 5 mins later to say that wasn't available either. 5 of the list 10 reds were also unavailable. the food was average at best - overcooked and dry prawns starter and warm but not hot chicken cashew stir fry - it is not freshly prepared or cooked to order) - after we finished the meal, we waited 40 mins for the table to be cleared. 10% service charge is added to the bill almost as an entitlement. very poor and typical of what is now a large chain. go to Thai Orchid instead, better food, service and value.

Lovely place for a peaceful eat-out. Staff are friendly, not too expensive. The food in my opinion, had a sweet/sugary taste to it. I expected more of a spicy/savoury for a Thai restaurant. Gave it 4 stars due to this, would have been a 5 star. There's Street parking available within 5 minutes' walk. There's also maltings and sainsbury car park within 5 minutes walk.

I have only given 4 stars for atmosphere because it was lunchtime and quite quiet, which we prefer. The restaurant itself is very nice and the staff were very polite and attentive. We had a Giggling Set plus a couple of extra dishes, and thoroughly enjoyed it all. Only slight negative is the wine is a bit pricey. We will definitively be going again and I have no hesitation in recommending this very tasty restaurant.

Most of the time we have been there food is great and worth recommending. We have tried something new this time, and beef was a little too salty. Even after mixing with coconut rice. Puddings are great. We tried the trio.
