There is a great atmosphere with a welcoming and lively vibe. The food is well-prepared and flavorful, making it a solid choice for a casual night out. The staff is friendly, and service is generally efficient. However, there are a couple of downsides. The lack of proper air ventilation makes the inside uncomfortably hot, especially on busy nights. Additionally, the menu selection is quite limited, which may not cater to all tastes. Overall, it’s a nice spot with good food and atmosphere, but a few improvements could make the experience even better!

I want to draw particular attention to the service that Sophie provided, from the moment we walked into the bar Sophie was attentive and helpful, greeted us with a smile which is so lovely to arrive to. Not everyone demonstrates this. We weren’t sure whether we wanted to eat as the bar was quite noisy…. But Sophie offered us a menu and found us a table so how could we resist, the food was amazing (however the fajitas were a little lacking in peppers). Ala in all another wonderful experience but have to say Sophie really stood out! The other waitress wasn’t so attentive forgetting to bring the dessert menu! Hey ho! Next time 🤩

Feb 2025 update: Firstly, the food wasn't to the usual standard.... the panko mozzarella's sauce had no taste and my prawn linguini was dripping in oil.... it's the first time I've not eaten all my dinner. Secondly, we asked for wine with our main which, even after reminding the waitress twice, never arrived. I was so disappointed because it was my Mum's 80th birthday, so I was hoping for more than a "ohhh happy birthday" from the receptionist. You also lost out on sales because we wanted a bottle of wine, and I would have had a desert and coffee if we'd not been so underwhelmed... Sadly, I won't be returning to the Boars Head as there are so many lovely eateries in the area. No more recommendations from me! There was food and napkins under the table Excellent all round! Mum and I visited for lunch; wow! The decor is stunning... the staff were all first class and very welcoming, and the food was absolutely delicious! Everything came beautifully presented, and the menu meant I had a nightmare deciding which delicacy to choose! 😁 The conclusion I came to is to go back until I've tried them all!! Happy to recommend The Boars Head to anyone... 👍

Dined here several times, always a good experience, Valentine's Day our latest visit, just as good in everyway despite them being very busy.

My starter was nothing like what I asked for crispy small fish,which turned out to be battered big fish with bones in it. I had to ask for someone to serve us drinks with tap water, and we waited 10 mins. The wine came, and the starter came, but no water. In the end, I had to go to the bar and get my own water, the waiter did bring it advently to our table. This was a special remembering anniversary, which was ruined by service, and not so good food. Boars Head 👎

Had sharing platter and food was cold

Very nice place. Starters were outstanding. Felt my Guinness steak and ale pudding was a bit over done and tough suet. But overall an enjoyable meal.

Came across this very nice Pub on our way back home so called in for a late lunch. So glad we did the menu choice was interesting and so different from the usual pubs we have been to. Food was so delicious, will certainly go back again 😋

The sausage rolls are flaky, buttery, and filled with seasoned meat.

One of my favourite restaurants around. Service always impeccable, great food and selection of wines and beers. Highly recommend, it is one of our top choices on weekends!

Came as a big party for my mum's 50th. Food was amazing, staff very accommodating and thank you for organising the balloons and birthday cheesecake! Shall definitely be returning.

Unusually poor experience from a usual 5* Parogon restaurant. We booked Sunday at 3pm. Upon arrival we were told that our table was not ready. We waited approximately 40 mins to be seated. When ordering we were told that a number of items were sold out, including a large number of items on the Sunday roast. Starters were nice and quick to table (had the Crispy beef). Main was nice (Coq au mango burger) but the chips were slightly hard and undercooked (other reported similar). It then took about 45 mins for the desserts to arrive and they were very disappointing from a restaurant that usually delivers so much quality. The tiramisu was just mush and liquid at the bottom of the glass, with a topping of aerated cream (not mascapone), and my partner had the apple crumble which was like earing sand not crumble. I think they are trying to be too clever and fancy with design and the quality was seriously lacking. We ended up being at the restaurant for over 3 hours due to the various waiting times, so much time that the servers changed shifts and then we ended up with no service whatsoever. We have attended all of the Parogon pubs on numerous occasions and this was by far the worst experience. We heard others moaning too. I assume that this was just a bad day at the office and it certainly does not change my view of these restaurants. Might be a while before I attend this particular restaurant though.

I visited the Boars Head with my niece, just before Christmas, for lunch. The staff were very welcoming and the pub looked inviting and clean. The food was very nice and there was a good selection of drinks. I would definitely recommend visiting and I will go back again when I’m in the area.

Food was good, I had the spicy chicken skewers which were very tasty. Meal was let down by waiting 25 minutes for our initial drinks order. After the meal we ordered coffee and again had an unacceptable wait of 20 minutes. Coffee was lukewarm and had to be returned incurring a further 5 minute wait. We were not charged for the coffee, to the credit of the restaurant. This was my first visit and I think we will continue to frequent The Swan with two Necks where the service is excellent.

One of my go to spots when I'm in the area. Guaranteed top tier food with a great atmosphere, located in a beautiful area too.

Great steak and Guinness suet pudding. The Mrs loved her spiced pumpkin soup of the day. It’s just unfortunate that it was let down by a very artificial tasting and flavourless espresso tiramisu.

We've been coming here for years and I have to say there was only one situation when I was dissapointed with food. And this situation was resolved in a very satisfactory way. So I have to say the quality of food is consistent. I put photos from the last few visits. This one was during Christmas season and I had amazing stuffed butternut squash with cranberries. And it was like Christmas on a plate without meat. And that's what I like about this place, they take vegetarian food seriously and it's always interesting. My husband loves to have steak here and it's always perfect. Today for dessert we had chocolate fondant which was nice but the banana cookie dough was to die for! Service is always nice and atmosphere is relaxed. I would highly recommend this place. But because sometimes it's really busy mistakes do happen. Talk to the manager before making up your mind. And that's another thing. I would suggest booking the space because no matter what time we came it was always busy.

As always, excellent seating choices, superb food from a menu which caters for all ages and tastes, combined with friendly and efficient service. A must visit restaurant!!

Popped in here for a quick drink. Nothing wrong with the place per se... Just a bit soulless.... One of those places that is superficially pleasant, but bland and unremarkable. Beer selection below par - 2 cask beers from Weetwood and the rest commercial keg. Food looked good, but didn't have any, so you'll have to look at other reviews for that...

Friendly welcome, warm atmosphere and good food, we had the fish and chips (big portion!) and delicious pork belly. Definitely worth a stop and next time we’re in the area we’ll be back.

Dined at The Boars Head last night as a birthday meal for my 21st, booked by my boyfriend. From start to finish we had an absolutely amazing time, filled with great food and perfect service. We were seated on a lovely table which had been decorated with birthday balloons and a little card from The Boars Head wishing me a happy 21st birthday. These little touches had not been organised by my boyfriend, so they were a fab surprise for him too. Not only was the decor great, but we were then handed a complimentary glass of Prosecco each. Then to finish off a wonderful meal, I was surprised with a gooey chocolate brownie and ice-cream with a sparkler in! Honestly the perfect place to dine and truly made me feel like a special birthday girl. We would also like to mention how great our server Jamie was. Super friendly and helpful, really added to the whole experience. Massive thank you to The Boars Head for giving me such a positive and memorable 21st birthday meal.

When there was a problem with the booking staff were unable to help saying it was head office we needed to contact, however there was no phone number to ring and there was no reply to the email which I sent to the address provided so basically there is no way to sort out any problems you may have.

Fantastic experience for a Christmas Day meal. Nothing was a bother and timing was impeccable. Just as great as a normal meal here.

Our latest visit to the Boar's Head didn't disappoint! We've been meeting family here for several years due to its location and excellent eating experiences. The menu caters for all types of eaters and I had possibly my favourite meal of 2024 when tucking into a Beef & Guinness suet pudding. This meal was also ordered by my parents which they enjoyed, while my son devoured his popcorn chicken before tackling a giant haddock. My daughter and wife had tasty plant burgers and my sister went for her tried and trusted chicken, ham and leek pie. The Boar's Head understand how to treat customers and the service was top drawer. We were the first group in our part of the restaurant but the atmosphere slowly built up in festive fashion once other diners had arrived. It's one of those menus that I personally want to order everything from! The selection of wines is also strong and the Chilean pinot noir was followed by a very well poured Guinness.

Amazing Sunday Roast, along with starters and sticky toffee puddings to go with. Had a lovely afternoon, apart from we sat in the window and was a very cold draft the whole meal to the point where our jackets to the touch were cold. We come every year and the food is always impeccable. Just wish we were in the main restaurant where it was so much warmer than the conservatory.

This typical English country pub is located on the main A51 so easily accessed day or night & has ample parking in an open car park adjacent to the premises. The pub appears recently refurbished, it was my first time there. We sat in a light and open large glass conservatory accessed from the well stocked & very pleasant bar. The pub was beautifully decked out with loads of colourful Xmas decs & trees for the festive season. The menu is varied with a 2 course for £22 menu ancillary to the full & light bites menus. I chose the festive Xmas turkey dinner & I was hard pressed to finish. The plate was packed with turkey veg stuffing etc and was hot & delicious. Part of the Parogon chain. I will definitely be going back.

Magnificent. Food amazing service as usual at the Boars Head. Ellie was as bubbly and attentive as the first time we visited, this place is something special consistent quality shows just how good the staff are a very rare thing to find .Visited with 2 friends that live 15 mins away but had never been before they was amazed at how good it was and have said they will be going back many times themselves could not believe why they had never tried it before and we have living 1 and a half hours away .

Lovely cosy pub with traditional decorations and roaring fire 🔥 Great place to have a little chat and photo with Santa. Present was a small chocolate selection box and decorate your own xmas mug. At the tables, there was an activity pack, and the kids could write their Christmas wishlist as they waited for breakfast. The breakfast is quality over quantity. The nicest sausage we've ever tasted.

Celebrating our daughter in law birthday, last year horrendous at another venue🍊🌳 so 10 of us arrived 20 mins b4 table due, scanned menus thinking to avert any issues, oh contra!!! 45 mins after table due we were seated ( at the wrong table) needless to say several of our party were “past eating” so when food arrived it was “pushed around the plate “ The staff were brilliant, curtious, friendly and did their best to make up for our wait and even knocked drinks off our bill. But this was the 2nd yr at a Paragon pub where “wait or service” spoilt a birthday!!!

Astoundingly good food!!! Easily up there in the top 3 best eats in my 47 years on the planet! And I like good food... The service was efficient and friendly. The drinks were crisp and well kept. The food was divine - unusual flavour combinations which just 'worked' and cooked to perfection. We were struggling to choose a main as there is a wide selection so we went for a gastro sharing platter with a side of chips. Everything was delicious, and just the right amount of food. We were full but looked at the dessert menu and couldn't resist. Burnt cheesecake with raspberry sorbet and a sharp orange jus, and a choix pastry with cream and meringue and a raspberry, lime and [something] ripple ice cream. These too were amazing. The place seems to have been recently renovated with sympathetic but high quality decor and mood lighting, and is in a good state of repair. It's quite rural so it's quiet outside and would be lovely to sit out on a summer's day. There is a decent car park too. A rare dining experience. We went midday, midweek (Wednesday lunch) as we both had a day off work. We plan to try it when it's busier to see if it maintains such high standards at all times but based on our experience, we'd be surprised if it doesn't.

We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at the Boar’s Head. The staff were cheerful, lovely and super efficient and the menu was excellent, with great choices for everybody. Our meals were delicious, as were the refreshing cocktails. Very happy all round.

After reading the reviews I was excited to go and try the food, sadly it did not live up to the hype. I had the panko chicken and it wasn't much cop, the fried egg was undercooked and snotty and the potatoes were undercooked and hard, two very basic things any half decent cook should get right. Although our server was very pleasant, the time between being given the menus and her coming back to take our order was too long, the same could be said for the time between us finishing our meals and the empty plates being cleared. It was not busy though there didn't seem to be many waiting staff on. First impressions count and we won't be going back. Ah well.

We had a fantastic meal on Sunday 2nd November. We were meeting friends to celebrate couple birthdays. Food was absolutely fantastic attentive but not over the top service (checked in but left us to chat and eat!!), also quick with bill once asked for (hate sitting around waiting when your ready to leave). Kids menu is brilliant and my little one loved her dinosaur burger. Only thing could be improved on it always being the little ones food first! But that me being super picky. We will be back

I did a quick search of places to eat around Nantwich and quickly found The Boars Head. The menu looked interesting enough to go and I'm glad we did. I can't fault a single thing. The grounds are beautiful with a well kept garden and large, free car park. The place is very clean and fresh, we ate in the conservatory. Every single member of staff we encountered was friendly and obviously competent. Toilets are beautiful and clean, music being a nice touch. I wanted to try almost everything on the menu! Everything we ordered was extremely good quality and interesting. I would highly recommend for the whole experience.

We visit often and called in today for lunch after visiting Bridgemere. Always lovely fresh food, service good. My only comment of this place is that the tables for 2 are very close together to adjoining tables and therefore not very private when the restaurant is busy as it was yesterday...

Excellent meal and super friendly and efficient staff, gorgeous interior. The only problem was the vegetables needed longer cooking, they were a little too hard for us all. Otherwise, definitely a place to go and we will be back thank you.
