This place is fantastic. We had had a very emotional day yesterday. The four of us were on our way back home from Mansfield to Wales. Coming back on the old road as we call it to avoid the motorway. We called the Tollemache around 4pm on the 21st Aug 24. They explained that food would not be served until 5pm. We booked a table for the four of us and headed that way. From the moment we walked in the atmosphere and the staff were lovely. We were shown our table and offered drinks. When our drinks came there were biscuits for our doggie Mr Kodi π and fresh water. We were able to sit and chat nothing was rushed. The staff member came over with the menu and we made our choices. We had all four small dishes from the while you wait menu Pigs in blankets, Olives with oil and crusty bread, battered cod goujons and mini onion bhaji. Totally delicious π Mains were Haddock chips peas and tarta sauce. Hunters chicken with BBQ sauce salad and chips. Halloumi and mushroom burger and Ploughman's platter with roast ham and all it said on the menu extra chunky chips. It was piping hot. Plated perfectly. Fresh food. Everything that should have been there was... Again staff were polite and nothing was to much trouble. We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all the kitchen staff if you would pass that on please and to all the front of house staff. For their kindness and for being so caring. From Les, Jan, Matt, Gem and of course Mr Kodi who says thanks fro the biscuits πΆπΆ xx Thank you all xx β€οΈ

I don't say this lightly, The Tollemacche Arms is most definitely one, if not the best place I've eaten in a long time. From the moment we walked in, the ladies who served us went above & out of their way to make sure everything was spot on even down to bring our dog some biscuit treats & water to make him comfortable too. The service here is fantastic. You're made so welcome with open arms & then the food came 4x different meals with starters & extra's & the taste was just perfect π Compliments to the kitchen staff & Chef's. Outstanding food. Thank you all for such a warm welcome on a hard day for me & my family. We will definitely return again & again Thank you so much.

Lovely pub, located literally, just off the busy A51, in Alphraham. Had a busy day visiting family and chores around NE Wales and Chester. The Tollemanche is simply on the way home, so not a difficult decision... Been a few times now, and will certainly return. The meals are a mix of the good ole familar and great twists on classics too. Never disappointed, to date.

Worst pub lunch experience in a long time . Called in for meal for 4 people was shown to a table ordered drinks then the meals from then it went from bad to worse. Two other couples arrived around 20 minutes after us they were on tables for 2 they soon got there food. After 30mins went to the bar to ask where was our order and was told they would go and check. Finally after 45mins wait food arrived and started to enjoy it only to be interrupted twice by staff to ask was all OK I won't say what i told them as some might not like the reply but after waiting 45min for the meal then having got pestered twice i was not very happy. Excuse was they were busy but not that busy to serve the other two couples who ordered well after us arriving. VERY VERY BAD SERVICE AND CUSTOMER RELATIONS WILL NOT BE RETURNING

I live on a canal boat... So we pop in lots of canalside pubs... And I always review with honestly.. We've had good and we've had bad.. And I am a good cook myself, so I get disappointed when I can do it better!! Well this pub did not disappoint in any way, firstly the staff were friendly and helpful, the pub had a great atmosphere, garden area good for children!! But the food!! we had the Sunday roast.. It was amazing, best roast I've had out, Quality!! Excellent ingredients, cooked to there best. Chef please tell me how you did you're carrots!! π keep up the amazing work. X

Great pub, amazing service and food. I don't have young children now but looked to be enjoying themselves on the football area and climbing frames. Also dog friendly on a lead and under control...

Stunning venue. We stopped for some hydration along the scenic winding lanes and the service was friendly. We only had a beverage but I always take a look at the menu. Great options and reasonable prices. Lovely to sit and enjoy the picturesque spring landscape. Beautiful outside area which I would imagine would be perfect on a barmy afternoon. Looks like they offer live music in season. Definitely would return.

Booked an overnight stop. No problem locating the place. Good carpark. Steps at main entrance so have to contact staff for wheelchair access. Room guests will have access to a no step door at side of building to avoid going through the bar. Be warned it is an old building and limits facilities. We had a twin bed room and it was ' small ', being in the roof space too. Clean, bright, and tidy. Very soft mattress but but i slept very well, surprisingly. Some spiders had to be relocated. Don't bring loads of luggage. Shower very good and hot but if you are of a large build you'll find it ' cosy' to shower in. Minimal sound insulation so conversation from adjoining room can be heard. Very squeaky floorboards makes it feel your at sea in an old sailing ship. Old building atmosphere. Dining area full on Friday night so food must be good. Breakfast was high quality. Not the largest full English I've ever had but excellent quality and best fried egg i've had out for a while. Bar and dining area had nice furniture and clean and bright. Room warm . Closing blind on room Velux window took me a while to figure out how to open/ close it. Twist bottom of blind bar towards window to move blind. Would use Tollemache again but consider different rooms other rooms slightly larger. During the night the room was very quiet so no problem sleeping. If you're a light sleeper, you get some light coming in under the blind. Didn't bother me.

MG the pub was on four in a bed 10 years ago so of no relevance to the current owner who has created the ambience and style of the pub you currently visited. You need to rate on current findings not very old comparisons. It has great atmosphere with good food, great staff and good value.

This is a nice place.Serves nice food and good drinks. You can sit outside. There's a parking and beer garden, kids play area. There're some lovely views from the outside garden, so relaxing. Good feel to that place. Few ales (Robinsons brewery so not a free house unfortunately) had food in there several times ( I live locally) and it was always very good. I have been here lots of times and it was interesting to watch them in a Four in a bed programme. They had a man playing a piano on that TV show???!!!! however I've been there so many times and have never ever seen anyone playing a piano in there (must have missed it every time it was happening lol) so false advertising on TV unfortunately, don't do that that guys it's very poor. Plus never seen that couple ever serving anything to the customers as shown on the programme. They have all the staff doing all the work. You have a chef... so no wonder when the bloke ( the owner was trying to cook a breakfast for the other guests on that tv shiw he messed it up so badly as he had no clue about what he was doing )So, what you see on TV is literally just the opposite in a real life. What annoyed me as well all the other contestants weren't ashamed from saying the actual location were they're based. You just decided to say a tollermache arms from cheshire (cheshire is not that small) like you were embarrassed from saying were you're actually based i just don't get it. I gave this place a 5 star score 5 years ago, however changed it to 2 now just because they are the liers on a TV show and I don't support that. You're staff do all the work ,not you two.

We found this by accident on holiday from Minnesota a number of years ago. On our next holiday this was a destination spot again. Very welcomed being strangers and left feeling like family. Stayed at farm b&b couple miles away. Also marvelous. Hope it will open again. We are planning one more U.K. visit and this is on our list!!!

Lovely Italian Restaurant situated in Poynton. This was our second visit. The front of house staff are very friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is very lively and moderately loud due to the echo in the rooms. All in all, a very satisfying and tasty experience π
