Poor food cold expensive for what it was will never eat here again

Absolutely superb Sunday lunch - excellent value and quality. Lovely staff made the whole experience. We will be back.

Had an early lunch here - we both had the sticky shredded chilli beef salad - DELICIOUS. Very helpful & friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere + view over the Marina. Will definitely be back.

Amazing experience for dinner. A quick drink in the bar downstairs, followed by dinner in the beautiful and stylish restaurant upstairs. Sat overlooking the marina, we enjoyed a range of meals, all of which were delicious. Of particular note was the service. We were served by a young woman training in hospitality and she was awesome - introduced herself, friendly, professional, knew the menu, and gave exceptional service. Unfortunately I can't remember her name to thank her 😕

Had a brilliant evening celebrating my birthday with friends. The service was excellent and the food delicious. Such a lovely surprise to get my birthday cheesecake too! Thank you for making it a really special evening.

I was extremely disappointed with my recent experience at this place. Despite the restaurant being reasonably quiet, it took an hour and a half for our food to arrive. Other customers who came in after us were served before us, and it turned out that our food had been forgotten about. Although we were offered 50% off the bill as compensation, it was only when I reached the end of my burger that I discovered the meat was raw. The lack of proper customer service was unacceptable. We shouldn't have had to argue for a resolution and should have received the entire bill for free, especially after I became sick in the restaurant's toilets. Due to this experience, we have no intention of returning to this establishment.

Fabulous night, just popped out for tea with the wife, sat outside with our dog. Lovely view over Marina, had Tapas, amazing food and great service from Richard !!!, pint of Pedigree, "open mic" night was on, some great singers and groups, all for free, enjoyed a lovely Tuesday evening.... i would highly recommend.

Good food and decently priced, nice view with the houseboats nearby along with the ducks and geese in the rivers.

It's a really nice location, but I would say our experience was very average. We got tapas, it came in a reasonable time but was not particularly impressive, it tasted fine. The service was prompt but the servers weren't overly friendly. I wouldn't go back

Always good food and staff who are helpful and provide great service.

Held our wedding reception here earlier this month. We were truly spoilt by the attentive staff and management. The food was excellent and nothing right from the planning stage was too much trouble. The upstairs restaurant was also decorated exactly as requested.

Such slow service, over 3 hours for a 3 course meal for lunch. Had to keep flagging down staff for service.

Went for valentines lunch , lacked atmosphere ,dim lightning music too loud. Food (tapas sharing platter,) was OK partly undercooked.would I return ? Probably not.

Just got out of hospital and decided to go for some nice food, paid £34 for 2 english breakfasts and were served practically cold, with no butter for the cold toast, when i asked for butter it was that cold it was literally unspreadable and inedible, none of the food was warm enough to even melt the butter slightly, asked for fresh hot toast, to be told that's just how it comes, stone cold bacon and sausages and which I'm unable to eat due to being on immunosuppressive therapy and risks with food not being at the correct temperature, yet the pots of jam were actually warmer than the food? First pot of tea was full of tea leaves as it obviously went un noticed that the tea bag was completely ripped, so yeah £34 for one slice of dry toast and a few poached eggs that were the only edible things on the plate for me, extremely disappointed with the quality and temperature of food, absolute waste of money for what should have been a nice treat after being in hospital

Absolutely wonder place to eat.. so amazed that most of the food was gluten-free. Made my mum feel like she was part of the group rather than sitting there with a jacket potato while we all eat beautiful food. We shall be back . Only 4 stars for service as food took a while to come out . But staff so polite and accommodating. 🌼

I pop in for the occasional drink, but always prompt friendly service. They seem to finally have sorted out the smell of the toilet that has been plaguing the place since it opened as well.

Great tapas, and the servings were generous.

Had a really nice traditional fish and chip supper with mushy peas. Generous portions, prompt and friendly service. Toilets up a flight of stairs so not so good for those who can't do stairs. Maybe there were alternative services.

We enjoyed a 3 course meal at The Boardwalk, plus drinks. The service was great as we were with a large group of 20 and we all ate together which was perfect service. The food was good and we will definitely be back to try something else.

First time here, enjoyed it, had two courses the starter was haloumi a bit on the cool side but the fish and xhip main course made up for it, piping hot, tasty and quute a large portion. My wife didn't have starter and like me enjoyed the fish and chips, she had the xheese cake pudding, she says it didnt look much but was delicious, rich and she couldn't have eaten much more. Staff were friendly and efficient. The only disappointment were the drink prices, £8.54 for a small beer and a diet coke, did feel as if we had been overcharged. Would we go back, yes, beautiful views over the marina, plenty of parking.

Was a Supadupa!! experience today, the food was lovely but even better we was looked after by a young lady named kodie, She went out of her way to make sure we was happy with the service!! Thank you

Came to the first Sunday sounds afternoon and loved the atmosphere with the live saxophone. Food was amazing too. Looking forward to coming back again soon

decent pot of tea and comfy chairs, not too expensive

We were there to celebrate one of our friends birthday. There were 8 of us and were sat on 2 rectangle tables, not ideal for conversation. Round tables would be much better for larger groups. As there is no soft furnishings, it can het get very noisy tbh. Having said that, the food was excellent, albeit a little expensive for a pub/restaurant location It did also feel like we had placed in a corner? Out of the way These are only small niggles and I wouldn't put anyone off from going. Definitely recommend.

Been several time and the food and service was great but the last twice included today the food was cold again. This was a day we was to celebrate some good news health wise. What a disgusting way to end a day. After telling them the food was cold last time and again still cold the second time shows there a problem with the chef 👎

Especially Ellie and both Charlottes 🫶🏽 They were so friendly and made conversation with us that made us feel really welcomed. They are an asset to The BoardWalk!!! Pay rise needed !!

They allowed people to vape, so noisy and two people were severed before us, and it was how turn.

They were allowing people too vape in the pub with children in there. The services was slow and we were ignored and it was how turn.

We visited last week for a Sunday roast as a family, the food was incredible and beautifully presented. Lovely atmosphere, the bar staff were quick to serve us drinks even with it being busy and our food came out shortly after. We had a window table and the setting was stunning looking out at the marina. There was a good choice on childrens menue and very generous portions. We noticed a few other tables around had ordered the tapas, that also looked lovely! Would definitely recommend and we will be returning next Sunday for another roast 😋 xxx

Visited the boardwalk yesterday for Sunday Roast followed by their weekly pub quiz. The service was excellent. Food and drinks arrived in a timely manner and all very presentable and high quality. Tasty indeed! There was a good atmosphere, the place is buzzing but relaxed with the majority of indoor seating taken and a lot of the outdoor seating overlooking the Marina also being used. A great spot. Pub quiz was decent and well structured. All of the Staff including the manager Rich are a credit to the place, all very helpful and polite. Serve a decent pint too!

It was nice to look out to the boats in the marina on a sunny day . The table ways sticky and not much for anyone that gluten free and it taken some time to bring out the coffee we ordered and taken a lot longer for the full breakfast we ordered which was tasteless but did look nice but no taste to it . Abit over priced for what you get and coffee was from a machine so dint taste that good .

Been before and had no complaints but had lunch today and ordered 2 steak sandwiches which arrived mooing. The slices (which didn't justify the £12 price) were extremely rare, bloody in fact, which may be to some people's taste but not ok for a sandwich filler. Would have asked for it to be re-cooked but we'd already had to send it back because the kitchen mixed up which breads we were all having. Mentioned it to the barman/waiter/? supervisor when he collectes our plates, who said we were right and they should have been cooked medium and he'd mention it in the kitchen. However, no one returned to offer a refund (I hadn't eaten the sandwich), a complimentary drink or an apology. In fact, no one returned at all. Don't mind paying £12 these days for a really good sandwich and fries but this was really disappointing.

Food was amazing, atmosphere was a vibe, very busy, but plenty of seating! Server had an amazing memory for our drinks! We were a party of 5 friends very reasonable priced, less than £25 a round. Food was slow, but definitely worth the wait and expected with how busy it was but wasn't an over wait! Definitely arrived within reasonable time. View was lovely, helped that the weather was boiling, so food and drink in the sun was definitely needed and they worked so hard to keep the place nice tidy and clean

When we've here in the past, it's always been really good. Today however it was a different story. Had to wait 20mins for a cup of tea, which came with a filthy cup and black bits in the milk ( not sure what they were!!) The table hadn't been cleaned and there were cigarette butts around our feet. Standards are clearly slipping. Definitely won't be visiting again

We booked at table here today for Lunch. Upon arrival, staff did not greet us and was unsure where to seat ourselves so we stood around waiting at the bar. I had to ask someone what to do and then was told to sit anywhere and order at the bar. We sat down but had no menus so I was up again to ask for menus and was then pointed in the direct of the table where the menus were kept. After choosing our food and ordering at the bar we finally sat down at our table to wait for our food. After 15/20 mins the waiter who took my order came to inform us that the food we had ordered was not available on a Sunday!!!!! Yet he was unable to tell us this when we he took our order. He gave us the Sunday menu which included no light bite options and prices were near enough double what we had already paid! We had no other option but a full refund to find somewhere else. Awful service and a very unpleasant experience. Not to mention the other table next to us complaining about the food they were served so maybe this was a blessing in disguise!

Disappointing, food took an hour to come and when it did, both sandwiches had barely any filling.

Our first visit this year, beautiful food, nice to have a few new dishes on the menu and excellent service as usual.

Food has been mostly great when visiting, on odd occasion been a little dry as if left too long under a heated lamp. Atmosphere great, and service always prompt, staff friendly. Can take dogs inside too.

Been today.. Great service at the bar. Went outside.. tables either wet..or full of old diners plates .. foumd a dry table and moved old pots /plates to another table ... then ordered food for 2 diners .. cutlery came out 1 folk and 2 knifes !! I had a sandwich .unfortunately the bread was stale as I took a bite it was falling apart ... obviously not happy about this ... partners food tapas ...very nice! I told the waitress that came out to collect pots that the bread was stale .. she said she would inform the chef 👩‍🍳 ☹️

Been here a few times before and always been good! Decided to book again today and was really disappointed in the new menu and the quality of food. The sandwiches are served on poor quality cheap sliced bread which they have clearly bought from a supermarket. If they used something like a sourdough, it would have completely changed the quality of the dish. Or if they have at least toasted the bread! The tapas was poor quality for the price you pay for it. A real shame as the winter 2022 menu was really good and the open sandwiches and sharing platters were really nice. These have all now been removed. Felt more like easy cafe food which didn’t match the cost at all.

Staff were brilliant here. Food was really lovely. The bread butter and oils were divine, freshly baked warm bread rolls were just delicious. Restaurant is upstairs but there is seating downstairs. Lovely place in a lovely setting. Will return.

OK food and service. Both could be a bit better. Quite noisy and could use some decor to cut down on the noise.

We were on holiday Monday to Friday..unfortunately it is closed Mon/tues….BUT it was worth the wait, it was spotless warm and very welcoming. The food was tremendous, well worth the wait, we got a seat ok…but it soon fills up so pick your time. And 100% dog friendly….Could I recommend it certainly can and give it 5 star +the staff were busy but always had a smile and always asked if you were ok and if you need anything….the team are a credit to the place 100%…..once again thank you ..🫶🍾🫶

Do not go here under any circumstances. On Friday evening, 17th March 2023) they (well actually the bar manager) totally messed up our reservation. Initially trying to blame us, then blaming senior management and then admitted to taking our booking but blamed a senior management member/owner for messing it up, who was not on duty at the time. When told to get it sorted the bar manager began swearing and being very abusive. He advised he was leaving in a weeks time so did not give a !!!! When we spoke to one of the other senior management /owners he also was not really bothered. I advised his bar manager should be dismissed immediately for swearing at customers, but he seemed to just find the whole situation acceptable and took no action. Having had good experiences here in the past, can no longer recommend anymore. Other recent reviews also mention the rude staff at this location. I have to agree with their statements about the rude staff, especially the bar manager

It's a pretty decent place. Decent amount of parking, right by the canal and the food is good. Staff are always friendly and attentive. Well worth a visit.

I have to start by saying I hate giving bad reviews, and I won't be one of those people who writes a massive essay rant, so I will just list the positives and negatives. Positives - Lovely food - Beautiful location Negatives - Staff were very rude and dismissive of me and my fiance and chose to walk off as opposed to trying to help find a solution to the problem we were having. - my cup of tea arrived nearly 10 minutes after my fiance had her coke so she was finished as I was just about to start my drink. (The table next to us were also suffering this and had to mention it to the staff). - After waiting 10 minutes my cup of tea was full of fluff which I assume had been left by a tea towel when not dried properly. - I decided against a cup of fluff, and so went to order my fiance drink number 2 and decided to have a vanilla latte instead, this again took an age to appear and when it did it was a normal latte with no vanilla in sight. I decided against waiting again so just asked for some sugar from the bar and had a normal latte. Oh another positive, the latte was nice. - the food did take a while to come out but I wouldn't complain about this as they were busy. If this is read by the venue I'd like to end it with a question, if you are struggling for table room downstairs because you are busy, why did you close the whole upstairs seating area? Ps, sorry it did become a bit of a rant.

A 50th birthday bash Service was excellent, the buffet was cooked fresh with an on site chef and was amazing The whole ambiance of the place is really good, being a marina I would definitely recommend and I will go there again

Always a good selection of beers and spirits, in a nice atmosphere. The General Manager, Bethany, was really pleasant and cheery, plus she gave my girlfriend (over from Canada) some really helpful ideas of places to visit. Planning on going back soon, to eat in the restaurant.

Visited with a large group. We were told that we would have to sit on smaller tables and the food wouldn't be brought out together which wasn't a problem. Lots of choice on the menu and we all enjoyed our food. The staff were nice and friendly and the place had a good atmosphere and lovely views from the upstairs windows.

Great, attentive, friendly staff. Only went in for a drink but most enjoyable.

Generally the food is good here, however recently and particuarly today it has been well below par. Today, 2 out of 3 of our party waited 45 mins for a fish finger wrap which was just awful. Batter so overdone cutting you risked schrapnel injury on adjacent tables and fish inside so dry a spark would have caused a fire. As understand their main chef is on holiday, so check before you order.

The food was great, but the tables would be better by being at a normal height and not on stools.
