Buena comida a excelentes precios.

Tasty mini Scottish traditional breakfast (that I tried for the first time in my life) in a cool location by the sea in Portobello, Edinburgh. Good choice of food, decent service, dogs and family friendly.

He visitado aquí con bastante regularidad siempre promover empresas locales. Sin embargo, el café es incoherente y el personal son a veces amable y otras veces distante. Me gusta el café bluebean pero necesitan prestar atención a clientes un poquito más.

You would think after waiting half an hour for a cooked breakfast in a near empty cage, with no one else ordering hot food, that you'd get the best breakfast ever. You'd be wrong. What you get is a plate with half the food stone cold (eggs, mushrooms, beans) and the other half either burnt (bacon) or cooked ino rock hard oblivion (black pudding, haggis etc). The place could do with a good clean as well. One point for a nice cuppa, but the food and service is dreadful.

Was recommended this cafe by a friend & was hugely disappointed. We ordered the full breakfast with tea & toast. 50 minutes later two plates of what could only be described as ruined ingredients arrived together with two slices of stone cold hard toast. The bacon & sausages were dry to the point of no return & the black pudding & haggis slices looked like they had been left overnight on a grill. The 'chef' looked hungover & the waiter was not interested.

The Blue Bean Coffee House to wymarzone miejsce dla wszystkich tych, którzy chcą tanio i dobrze zjeść. Polecam.

Popped in for lunch with my Husband and we were served by a helpful, pleasant friendly guy. This wee place has a nice atmosphere and the walls are decorated with art work and photographs that are for sale. Food was freshly made, nicely presented, tasty and good value for money. Would visit again if we are in the area.

Great wee coffee shop, serves more than coffee, went in for a snack, very impressed with size of portions, had a toasted sandwich which came with side salad and coldslaw. Also had coffee and walnut cake with coffee yummy. Will certainly go back when over in Edinburgh. On the main street of Portobello and not far from the lovely beach.

I'm so glad we came across this little coffee house in Portobello. The very friendly women who served us wa so sincere and sweet. The Shepards pie that I had was truly the best meal that I had on our trip. My salad was soooo fresh and tasted so good!! We sat in the restaurant for quite sometime and just relaxed and ate a fantastic meal. I also have to mention, I bought a dessert bar, that they make themselves, I don't recall the exact name, but it had chocolate and caramel and it was Amaaaazing!

The first time we visited, we were greeted by a lovely lady who told we could sit anywhere we liked. She came over and explained to us that we could make anything for the child we had with us, so that was nice as sometime kids want something different to the kids menu. I ordered the roast chicken salad baguette, which arrived nice and hot with delicious salad on a tiger bread baguette. The wee man had some bread and butter and an apple which she didn't charge is for as she said they wouldn't sell fruit that was going off (there was nothing wrong with the apple) but that was nice of her to have good high standards. She then told us we could request music to play in the cafe which was a nice touch. My friend had a toasty and said it was delicious. Overall first visit was great and couldn't wait to have another lunch. Excellent service.

Going there with young clients and found them to be really accomodating in being flexible with their food. This was helpfull as the youngsters enjoyed their experience lots. Nice cakes and drink selection as well. The prices are reasonable mostly with a couple of things like the Nachos being really good value.

On the positive side I like the staff, the coffee, the atmosphere and the cake. On the negative side the food isn't good enough at all. We had eggs with soldiers for the little one (the egg was solid). I had poached eggs (again solid). My partner had carrot and coriander soup (so spicy that I had problems eating it and I love chilli - wouldn't have been a problem if it said it was spicy). A real shame :-(

So friendly and welcoming. Could not have asked for better service and food. Homemade malteser tiffin is delicious. I had the shepherd's pie which was so tasty and the potato on top was beautifully browned. The staff took a real interest in my niece and nephew and adapted the children's menu to what they wanted. Prices are also really good. I compared them to other cafes along the High Street and they were either the same or lower for everything. Will definitely go back and will certainly recommend The Blue Bean Coffee House to my friends.

This was our second attempt with this cafe. We were disappointed a few months ago with sticky tables and very slow service. Both times this cafe was half empty but the free tables had dirty dishes on them. Our most recent visit was brought on as all the other cafes were full. We thought we would give it another try but the minute we walked in, we noticed empty tables full of dirty dishes. We sat down at table at the front of the glass display counter it had dirty plates and cups on it.

Popped in this cafe for a quick scone and a Latte. The heavy metal music was roaring from the stereo.. Diana served us just before wiping the sweat off her face with her apron!! She was then shouting orders through to the kitchen in not a very friendly manner. Ooft can honestly say I would never be back!!

We used to come here often but had not in a while. Unsure what has changed but may as well be a different place. Table felt dirty, window area was gross. Service was very poor, girl had chipped nail varnish and seemed very uninterested. We ordered an orange juice, coke and two jacket potatoes. Glasses arrived dirty and nobody noticed us trying to get them changed. Music was loud and awful and yet we could still hear the chef saying all his potatoes were soft. Yet it took a further 15 minutes for the waitress to tell us. At this point we decided we wanted to leave. Had to pay for orange juice despite our complaints. Would never go back

We visit this place every year when visiting Edinburgh. Nothing better than a huge bowl of soup after a bracing walk on the beach at Portobello. The lentil and bacon soup was honestly the best soup I ever tasted. Any food we have had from here over the years has always been very good. As has the service. Don't miss this great little cafe if you are in Portobello!

Having visited this cafe on saturday morning... was very disapointed with the time that we had to wait for the food . The young guy that served us was very friendly, having ordered the big breakfast, we got our coffee and toast more or less straight away, however coffee and toast were finished before the big breakfast finally arrived. Quaility of the food was ok, however my idea of a big breakfast is not one rasher of bacon, one small sized sausage, clearly trying to compensate by swamping the plate with baked beans !!!!!!! this sure was not value for money, which was a great shame as nice surrounding and good staff...get some more sausages and bacon on your plates and this cafe would be fine !!!.

This cafe manges to scrape to 'average' instead of 'poor' simply because it was an alternative to Reds where we usually go which looked like it was in the middle of a toddler food fight. My first visit to this nice looking cafe. I don't think I'll be back. Totally agree with the reviewer earlier who said 'i think it's the bosses kids who serve and if you're lucky you'll catch her in a bad mood with them( no holds barred)'. Blimey, she was scary. I felt it safer just to not eat my side salad than to point out that the boy who had put it together had wiped his nose with the back of his hand halfway through scattering the sweetcorn... The owner (I'm assuming) took time out from yelling loudly at her help (son and daughter?) to thump down two bowls of soup at a bemused looking couple next to us - she was wearing the grottiest pair of jogging bottoms and an apron which frankly looked like it had been in the pot with the soup - over the course of several weeks. Granted, it might be a quieter venue than Reds but the food was average, the service was depressing and we didn't need to hear shouting and bickering from the kitchen the entire meal. It gives an entertaining story to tell others but really, we won't be recommending this place to anyone.

We went there on a Sunday afternoon for a cup of tea and some cake. We ordered 2 americanos and two scones with butter. We got our scones after 20 mins of waiting, and in our surprise they did not bring us a knife. At first we thought that the waiter would return with a knife along with our coffees, but 10 mins later we gave up on the idea. Finally, they brought our coffees, but no knives --which we finally asked. When we decided to leave, we approached the waiter at the cashier and asked for the bill. The waiter gave us the total and then disappeared!

The cafe interior is nice. The young guy and girl serving were as miserable as they come. Menu seemed nice enough but I was in with a friend for afternoon tea and cake. If you like you banana and walnut cake dry as cardboard then you won't be disappointed. Having said that, it was cheap.

I almost never leave reviews, but I felt I had to because I felt so ripped off here. I'm a local and had time to kill before work so I popped in for lunch. The staff were friendly and the service was quick, but I got the smallest piece of avocado toast I've ever seen for a tenner. I'm still hungry. I sort of knew it would be a mistake to go somewhere touristy but now I know I definitely won't be back. There are nicer places on Cockburn Street, never mind the rest of the Old Town.

I had a great afternoon tea with my mum here! The staff were lovely and the food was delicious. They were great at catering to dietary requirements as I am coeliac so my afternoon tea was completely gluten free (the afternoon tea on the right in the picture is mine). Would highly recommend this place!
