The Blacksmiths Traditional Bar & Cantonese Restaurant in Highland

Excellent time with the friends for a meet up. Place would be brilliant if it had a pub quiz definitely a good place for one.

Ordered a take away, food was good but prices are absolutely ridiculous. So over priced clearly trying to make back the refurbishment costs.

Ordered a Chinese for delivery on Sunday 11th December at 1715, said it would arrive around 1820, contacted them at 1845 to which they said the food was on its way. It has now been more than 2 hours since I ordered the food and it still has not arrived. Extremely poor service.

I cannot believe how bad our meal was.. first of the chow mien was so dry and had a off taste to it we couldn’t eat it was just boiled egg noodles with pork no seasoning or sauce, then the satay chicken had no more than a tablespoon of sauce in it also very bland and lastly the whole lot was cold! This Chinese is expensive at £44 for our meal and nothing was nice!! we gave it a go after a friend had recommended it to us a few months ago, not sure if chefs have changed but no way is this place a match for the magic wok just up the road from it. We will never go back, such a waste of money! YUCK!

I wish I read the reviews, was advised of an hour to deliver it took 2, a few calls and cold soggy food arrived, taste was so poor, actually no flavour, … called another takeaway, explained the situation, took a delivery fresh from them in 20 mins and they took the Blacksmiths order back to show there staff!! My advice is to stay clear!

Ordered a take away, delivery time was given for 45 mins later (6:45pm). Almost 2 hours after it was supposed to be here and it still hasn’t arrived. Called numerous times but just kept saying the line was busy. I understand weekends are busy times but it’s unacceptable to take orders you can’t fulfil and not even communicate with the customer. First time customer and definitely won’t be back or recommending to anyone else. Waste of £40!

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.. I called in a delivery at 6.10pm was told it would take up to 1.5hrs which I thought bit excessive but fair enough. After 1 and a half hours tried calling to ask for a update and line was busy 114 phone calls later and my partner 100 phone calls by this point it was 2hr 20mins since I called the order in and with no way of contacting them, I had to drive 10mins to go and ask in person whats going on. They told me it left 10mins ago. I told the woman behind the counter how bad there service is and asked for at least a delivery charge refunded as it was an hour late and I had to drive to find out where my food was. Basically got told were to go, they were so rude its disgusting. After leaving and driving home another 10mins it still took a further 20mins for it actually arrive at this point your wondering do you really want to eat it as has it been spat in, I wouldn't put it past them. The food was rank soggy and cold. Stay away from the place folks don't give your money to them. They are robbing scum!.

The barmaids face was absolutely tripping her! I've never come across such rude staff in my life. If you want to be treated like utter sh**e then this is this place for you! This person is clearly in the wrong job. Awful experience. Ugh. I used to frequent this pub years ago. NEVER again.

Only open for takeaway as arrived just after end of lockdown in Scotland. Exceptional starters - large portions almost as much as a main course. All food ordered was very tasty and hot. Spare ribs - plenty and a lot of meat on the bones. Boiled rice may be a little expensive. Busy place so may be better to order by phone and then collect although pleasant location to sit an wait.

We had a booking made over a month ago for an area in the pub. Once we arrived, we were told that the area wasn’t booked. The waitress was so explicitly rude towards us, particularly to the person whose birthday it was. Once shown the proof of reservation, she walked away. The waitress then came back and rolled her eyes before asking “what do you want me to do” and “well it’s been a busy day and there are people sitting in that area”. She also said “I know you’ve got a booking but what can I do when there are people sitting there”. Two members of the party went back inside to see if we were able to try to sort this situation, to which the rude member of staff suggested WE ask the other customers to move and that apparently “this pub doesn’t take reservations” although showed proof of reservation… the waitress was one of the rudest people we have ever come across, we all have bad days and I appreciate that however people with an attitude like that will lose this pub/restaurant an extensive amount of money, reputation and returning customers. Embarrassing.

Decided to try the Chinese takeaway but have to admit it was probably the worst one we’ve had in a long time. The shredded beef was chewy and so bland. The mini spring rolls were flowery inside which was odd and the shredded chicken was so sweet. All in all a waste of £40 for a treat for the family

We went to support our local pub now lockdown was easing. I can only say that it was a very expensive error on our part nearly £17 for one bottle of wine was in my opinion the worst mistake we have made yet. We understand business has suffered but COVID not only affected business but everyone. We will not be back for a long time that I am sorry for but to overprice something you can buy for £5 a bottle is in my opinion daylight robbery. I hope other businesses do not treat customers this way but I’m sure they will. But all I can say your business won’t last long so think long term and look after your customers welcome them back and don’t rip them off. The shop will get my business for a while yet.

Looking forward to this takeaway all week but the Sweet and sour was bland and watery so I only managed to eat the rice. Won't be going back.

Went to the Blacksmiths tonight and was very disappointed. Sat at our table wasn’t asked to track and trace.and had to bring to staff’s attention. At that point our details where taken.Ordered a white wine which came at room temperature. Ordered ribs to share.when ribs came had to ask for side plates, napkins, cutlery and hand towels. Ordered a glass of Merlot and was asked if that was white or red wine. Merlot received totally chilled !!! When the mains came again no plates where provided so we ate our food from the serving dishes. Asked for the bill and on checking it saw we had been billed for a full bottle of wine. When we pointed this out was told by the waitress my finger must have slipped. After paying the bill spoke with the manager who said I do apologise I hope you come back.

We have ordered 3 takeaways from this restaurant over lockdown in the last 2 weeks. The first takeaway was our first experience which the food was pretty good. The 2nd takeaway we got was cold when we arrived to pick it up at the exact time we were told to pick it up. 3rd time they gave us the wrong order as we checked when we got home, we phoned to explain, no sorry or anything or complementary for the inconvenience as we drove back to the restaurant to pick the right order up. We got home to find the food was microwaved cooked as so dry. the food is average, why is all the food got loads of garlic and so greasy I don’t know. I don’t like putting poor reviews but I had no choice, we were certainly not satisfied customers. 👎

Partner and I ordered from here and received friendly delivery within 15 mins! Food was hot and full of flavour, great for the price as well. Will definitely return and recommend!

For the 1st but certainly not the last, the 3 of us enjoyed a lovely, reasonably priced takeaway meal from Blacksmiths. Recommended.

Disappointing...delivery arrived luke warm and tasted days old and like it had been reheated. Most of it binned. Much better on offer in Inverness from likes of Shanghai. Staff were friendly enough taking order but wouldn’t go back.

The food at blacksmiths is always amazing, both takeaway and eating in the restaurant. The restaurant also has an amazing authentic feel. Sometimes not great at answering the phone?- sometimes I can try for over 20 mins with no answer. Is there maybe a reason...

Takeaway from the Blacksmiths several times unfortunately taste of garlic in all meals is overwhelming which tends to spoil the food

Surprisingly our 16 year olds chose to have their birthday meal here. Food was amazing, service was excellent and staff were very friendly as always. Portions were amazing and can’t recommend this restaurant enough.
