Relaxed bar, closely associated with Yelf's Hotel next door. Covered area alongside means we can sit inside or out depending on the weather. Great service from the helpful staff. We planned to eat next door in Yelf's but the kitchen is in The Black Sheep so stayed there.

Don't eat here, just ordered a double cheese burger with a side of fries, literally ate half a burger patty, it tasted like cardboard it was dry, burnt on outside, very cheap burger patties. I had to leave it was like swallowing bread dough. Considering we were only 2 of about 6 people in there, staff seemed confused over the order, it didn't even arrive on one plate, burger was on a side plate, fries in a dish and the coleslaw/salad garnish didn't arrive at all that was supposed to accompany the dish. £30 wasted with the starter, main and drink. I wouldn't have this to my dog. I just walked out.

Great place for cocktails we ordered chips was given to another table we did get our money back

On holiday as a family of 8 ordered all together only half food came out buy time some of our party had finished did rest start to come out Service shocking the waiters didn't have a clue menus grubby and tables not cleaned properly

Visited today, they took order wrong not once but twice. Paid twice and didn’t even get things for the amount I paid. In detail: I ordered 4 chicken burgers, 1 bacon chip mix and 2 hot chocolates. Because the amount didn’t add up, I asked him and he said he placed order only for 1 chicken burger instead of 4. So I told him to add 3 more and paid again. Waited for 30 minutes and got 3 chip mix. They did say sorry for wrong order but lied that only 1 payment was taken. Clearly both were successful and I checked again hours later and it still says successful on my Bank App. The car park on the road is only allowed for 1 hour, so didn’t have enough time to crosscheck. They did give Hot chocolate in disposable cups which I felt the Manager did extra step to settle the situation. But extremely dissatisfied as we didn’t get the chicken burgers we wanted 😭.

Very friendly staff, fog friendly, lovely food and good value. Will definitely come back the next time we are in Ryde.

Food tasted simply horrible. If I had to pick between eating this and eating my own arms then I’d be no good in a Mexican wave!

We had a couple of beers and food which was 6 small plates between two of us. The food was great and probably too much for us, but our eyes were bigger than our bellies. The service was fast and friendly and would definitely recommend!

13:00 on Saturday and surprisingly quiet in Ryde and this pub. Time of year I must assume. Food yummy especially the relish and worth the wait. Staff super friendly.

What an awesome bar we came in a young man behind bar was lovely very chatty and asked what music we liked and put rock music on for us thank you be definitely coming back your awesome 👏

Good selection of food, reasonable prices and friendly staff.

Went here for breakfast. The table side was filthy, condiment pot, spoon and milk jug were not clean either. Didn't spot most of this until after starting to eat. The breakfast would have been okay if the sausages hadn't been like leather and eggs over cooked. It was not a good experience. I would not even drink here again unless it has a very good deep clean of everything.

Before I wrote this review I did phone the black sheep and was told the owner would get back to me! No call back so here goes ! There were three of us booked for breakfast just before Christmas- what a let down ! Firstly I went to sit down and the table was so sticky I had to get a napkin and wipe it all off and my hands to. When the waitress brought our tea the spoon was filthy with brown stain, the small dish that held the sugar etc had tea stains all over it! Poor start! When the breakfast arrived the sausages looked as though they had been reheated, and the beans had a film on them. . You could say why didn’t we complain on the day,, my sister niece and I were on a day out together and to start the day complaining would of spoilt the day! To say the least we won’t be going again!

Nice place to have a great breakfast, l had the full English, one had the veggie, two others had the large English. Definitely recommend This place.

Did not have any food, sat in court yard with couple of glasses of wine, enjoyable patio heaters to keep you warm nice friendly atmosphere.

A regular place for us to visit. We love the location in the centre of Ryde. There are always a good choice of drinks available and a pleasant choice of tasty sandwiches.

Over a hot long weekend we, a group of 7, ended up in The Black Sheep every evening. Mainly in the patio garden then inside as the evening grew cooler. Great atmosphere and the service was good. only downside was that they kept running out of wines and had to go next door to top up.

Food OK, a lot of things on the menu were not available. Asked twice for a high chair which never came, the waitress who said she would get one didn't and was observed sitting in the bar drinking

My Sister and I go regularly for breakfast on a Sunday morning and it is consistently delicious, I'm really getting to love this place, also the Staff are so helpful and friendly, nothing is too much trouble for them 👍

My kids had the kids menu for a fair price and they liked the chicken nuggets. However we order the gamb and cod with fries. One of them were too salty and the other to oily.

Stopped in on our way home from the Ryde Pride parade for a quick drink and so glad we did. Lovely bar with amazingly friendly staff and added to that we enjoyed an absolute treat. We are experienced travellers and have enjoyed cocktails all over the world, as well as our home town in London. Have to say that the Espresso Martinis prepared for us were up there with the best we have ever had. Congratulations to the person who made it and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Worth a Michelin star in my opinion. Thank you guys for a real treat x

This is not an LGBT friendly place. Bar boy surely and uninformed. Food passable but would never go back.

OK for a quick drink, but nothing special.

Great place to spend your evening with your loved ones. They have both seating, indoor and outdoor. We enjoyed sitting outdoor as it was sunny and wanted to smoke cigarettes too.. The food is good and beer is really cheap. Like in £4.5 you can get a pint of beer. Overall, the place is recommend for all outdoor bar lovers.

We went to the Black Sheep for lunch. We made an order but were told there was a 30 minute delay. We accepted this and waited and waited and waited. After 40 mins we enquired as t where our food might be. Then we were told there had been a mix up with our order. After a further 15 mins with said we had to leave because we only had an hour in our parking slot in Union Street. We had our money refunded finally. What a sad disappointing experience.

Top quality food obviously sourced from a quality butcher. The sausages were huge and the bacon excellent. Everything cooked perfectly. Friendly staff and great service.

Nice environment. Monday evening but still a few customers. Preference is cask ales. Though interesting looking kegs.

I have been here for an hour; I have no cutlery, no food and no beans, this was the longest hour of my life.

Run by kids with little or no experience on May bank holiday almost finished my drink before girlfriend's cocktail appeared , wouldn't mind if they were busy but there were only 5 people in there at 8pm .

A good looking English bar with both indoor and outdoor seating arrangements. Located just besides Yelf Hotel, this bar has a variety of cocktails options. Food too, is worth the price.

Good attentive staff. Ale available in bottles. Great atmosphere when they have a band playing.

Love coming here for a drink or two.

Just want to give a shout out to Amy a lovely friendly and professional bar person. We popped in for a drink and she was so friendly and professional and gave us a very warm welcome.

Fantastic value for money. 3 different burgers. Everybody says the best they have had for years. Chunky chips are amazing. Great prices great beers too.

Poor service and dirty terrace. Tables not cleared. Portions smaller than previously but prices are higher. Could be a great venue if it had better management.

Came here for a late breakfast. I am quite fussy about how I like my eggs are cooked. They came out exactly how I had asked. The standard breakfast was a very reasonable price and the produce great. Added bonus being that there was butter for the toast, not marg!

Excellent food, we sampled the bacon cheeseburger, cheese and garlic quesadilla, Cajun chicken strips (spicy!) and Cajun fries (spicy!), parmesan and truffle fries and chunky chips. All were delicious and good value for money. We would definitely eat here again.

So glad we returned here with the family on a follow up holiday to the Isle of Wight. Decent lunch menu to suit all tastes and feel that you've got value for money. Staff very friendly and nice relaxed atmosphere. Nice selection on the pumps, clean glasses & beer mats! Happy days all round. Will visit next time we're on the island.

Had an enjoyable lunch outside in the courtyard of this restaurant/bar. The staff are very friendly and attentive. The menu was extensive caters and caters to all, reasonably priced, food freshly prepared hence the slower than normal service. Highly recommended if visiting the island.

The staff are excellent, the food is good and the wait times are dire.

I went at around 6pm on a weekday and they were not serving food at all. Pity, looked excellent. Mind you, many other places were shut completely.

Didn't stay long as unfortunately no afternoon chef available. Bar Manage extremely apologetic and tried his best to sort things out.

Love this place, though not sure why. The service can be a bit iffy and some of the punters are a bit lairy, but on a Friday and Saturday night the buzz is just right.

We used a special gift voucher for mother's day. The young lady on the bar was attentive and understood the deal we had. Burgers were excellent. Huge side of fries. Just wished there had been an option of a side salad! Well done Black Sheep
