Called in as we had an issue with our accommodation booking nearby. The staff were so lovely & friendly. We had a couple of drinks whilst we tried to resolve our issues & they were brilliant in helping us to find alternative accommodation for the night. Didn’t have chance to dine but the menu looked amazing! Wish this was my local! Thanks again x

Really enjoyed Sunday lunch. Great atmosphere - busy but still excellent meal and service. Waitress Sophie was exceptional and should do Customer Service training for others !

Lovely place, friendly staff, husband ordered the chicken pie with chips, greens and gravy which he thoroughly enjoyed. I ordered the fish and chips but was disappointed. The chips were fries which you would expect with a burger not fish, the fish looked really good however was mostly batter. I wouldn’t order this again. The drinks were good value as it was happy hour. I then had the affogato for dessert which was lovely and made up for my disappointing main meal. I would visit again but would order the pie for my main meal.

very good experience. Staff are very attentive, our waiter Victor was very professional and looked after us. we enjoyed the pies and steak all super tasty, excellent service, great food. Definitely will return and recommend!

My favourite pub/restaurant in Manchester. But pricey but worth it. They’ve got the interior and vibe spot on, and great food and drink.

Love the Blackfriars but sadly disappointed today. No chicken dish on the menu. Goats cheese ravioli way too salty. Burger was over cooked and dry. White chocolate choux bun reheated and dry (incinerated). Upstairs toilet - clear glass so you are on view to the surrounding apartments whilst on the toilet - privacy please ! Sadly the Blackfriars has lost its crown ☹️

Poor service at the bar - don't walk in for a drink. We waited 5 mins and were not even acknowledged

Food is nice and represents value for money. However, the staff were unfreindly, unwelcoming and slightly patronising. There is no egregious example of rudeness, but their general demeanor was one of annoyance and superiority. I would not return.

First visit to try out the updated old Salford pub/restaurant. This was a Sunday so we fancied a Sunday roast. However the choice of starters was a bit strange to have with a roast dinner ie meatballs or a pasta dish. The price was a bit extortionate considering it was a basic roast dinner with an extra supplement because I had lamb, albeit 4 tiny pieces, the food was nice but too expensive to be fair. Staff all very attentive.

I celebrated my Master Graduation here at Black Friar. I must say it was an absolute DREAM. Starting from when I called for the reservation. They helped me and offered me the BEST solution I could have dreamed of. Hadar took care of us and I must say she was absolutely perfect in everything she did. The food was glorious, my guests were all Italian, quite demanding in terms of food and they were surprised and impressed by the high quality of the food and the taste. The atmosphere was lovely and they really did the most to make my celebration on of the best memories I will always keep this experience in my heart. My friend loved it so much that when she'll have her graduation next year, she'll celebrate here too! Thank you very much guys, you made me so happy!

The food was really good and the venue itself is lovely however the staff were very pushy. Every time we ordered something, we were asked multiple times if we wanted extras. The food is pricey enough without a load of added extras - it really ruined our experience as we felt as though we weren’t spending enough money to be there. At the end of our meal, after saying no to all of the constant upselling, we were asked if we wanted tequila shots to finish off our night… we did not! Unfortunately it’s put me off coming back.

Our first shareholders meeting was topped off with aplomb at the Blackfriar. I’ve eaten here now on around 5 separate occasions and yet again did not disappoint. The only minor issue was that due to a film crew occupying the main restaurant we had to eat upstairs, however I have to credit them as not only did they ring to warn us / check this was ok but also offer us a discount on our meal. The upstairs was pleasant enough just lacked the atmosphere / usual buzz of downstairs. Service was excellent as was the food. Pie of the day chicken n leek mash for my colleague chips for me to accompany with a. I’ve portion of Kale. Our final amigo had chicken schnitzel with Katzu curry. We all shared the ‘bake’ and some artisan bread to start with. Can highly recommend the bake. There is something for everyone, some more costly than others but all good value in my book as the standard is high. I would yet again recommend The Blackfriar for lunch or dinner.

Mushrooms starter was very basic, tasteless. Sunday lunch was ok, lacking any depth of flavour and the desert was average. Prices are high you’ll pay for the lovely decor and ambiance. I’ve had better in Manchester for lower prices, and larger portions.

The place has been nicely renovated. There are some great photos of old Salford. Sadly however, the prices charge contradict the lives people in those photos lived. Few if any would have been able to afford to eat here.
