What an amazing place. Fabulous gluten free options including home made scones, cakes and soup. The staff were lovely and I can’t wait to visit again. Also the boutique was a nice find inside the cafe, with a gorgeous selection of women’s items - I just couldn’t resist a purchase.

We stopped in Seaham last year and found this lovely boutique. Great, partner sat having a coffee whilst I shopped! Made a detour to stop again a few months ago and bought some lovely trousers. They were so comfy I rang and ordered 2 more colours when I got home. Great customer service and a good selection of clothes. Hope to visit again soon.

Start with the positive that my partners iced coffee was fine. Other than that was not greatly impressed. Americano didn’t taste of good coffee. Paninis were really average with poor filling and not well made. Served with a few crisps and a sad excuse for a salad. Just a little more care in the kitchen could have upgraded the servings substantially but it smacked of tired and lazy. There are much better options in Seaham for coffee and snacks. Will not be returning

We stopped here today and asked of our child could use the toilet as he was desperate. The lady at the shop was really rude and more or less chased us away. I never experienced such unkindness in this country. What is wrong in allowing a child of 6 to quickly use the facilities? Will definitely NOT come back here another time and strongly discourage families with children to take them inside this unfriendly place! learn your manners!

Visited here today for the first time and can definitely say it’s well worth the visit. A brilliantly made flatwhite and they even had oat milk Flatwhite was made to perfect even with some great lattee art to finish it off. Showing skill and perfection with the perfectly velvety appearance. Which passed the floating spoon test. This cafe is a beautiful little place, the customer service from every single member of staff we came into contact with with was brilliant. Added to a great homemade cornbeef pie. If your in Seaham make sure you visit here.

The Good = Seating, Music & Décor. The home made cakes also looked very nice. The Bad = We ordered a Coffee & a Mocha and although both were wonderfully hot when they arrived, they were both very weak/tasteless. Perhaps we should have complained at the time, but as we were both in desperate need of a hot drink we didn't. Needless to say, we didn't order another, and instead went to a diff café. The Ugly = The toilet is in what appears to have previously been a small shower room and is a single Female/Male set-up. It was not wonderfully lit but even in the dull lighting it was obvious it needed a very good clean. The toilet rim behind the toilet seat was covered in hair/dust/bits and the sink was only a little better. There was No staff cleaning rota/schedule in sight. If it's also used by staff then I'm even more shocked that its not monitored and kept clean for customers & staff hygiene.

My wife and I were on holiday from Suffolk and visited Seaham for the first time, came acoss this coffee shop and was impressed how clean and bright it was. My wife had a latte and teacake, I just had a hot chocolate. where ever I go to have a coffee, latte, or hot chocolate, I always like mine piping hot so I can sip and enjoy it over a length of time, this one was spot on. This one was one of the best I have had (failed to mention the excellent table service they provide) We were so impressed we went back for lunch about 2pm, we both had BBQ Chicken Pannis absolutley cooked to pefection and strawberry and almond cake (other pannis flavours & cakes available), and I had another hot chocolate. Staff and service was excellent, made us feel welcomed and valuable. Place was very clean & quick service. Definitley recommend.

Popped in today and loved it! The decor is fab, the music choice was great (ABBA Gold playing!!), lovely to see the staff cheery and singing along at times and all members were polite and professional. I ordered the Biscoff Cheesecake, when the waitress asked my partner again he said the Biscoff Slice so that disappointment was my partner's fault. Any way, that was short lived because the Biscoff Slice was AMAZING!!! The lattes were very good too! Three of us ate and drank and the price was very reasonable. We are hoping to return to Seaham again so we will definitely be returning.

Oh dear! What has happened to the Black Truffle? Been here several times and we were always satisfied with food and service. Not today though. We decided to have Hot Beef Bap and salmon and cream cheese bagel. We were told there would be a half hour delay! The cafe was not full and most customers had already been served. So we changed order to fruit scones and tea. This took a while to arrive despite no one else waiting. The scones were dry - don’t think they had been made fresh today. A party of four tried to order sandwiches/quiches and on being told of half hour delay they decided to leave. Not good is it? With our change of order and four customers leaving that’s a fair bit money lost. More staff needed? Staff need training in getting food out more quickly? Very disappointing. We won’t return. Lots of places to eat in Seaham now. Maybe an off day but from reading other reviews I don’t think so.

Ordered the corn beef pie, but was disappointed when it arrived with a handful of salad and an egg-cup-size, ramekin of coleslaw, on an 8 inch oval side plate. This was £8.95, with a small flat-white coffee and a bottle of water. I thought this was quite expensive, considering the pie, (which looked lovely and deep), tasted more of potato, than corned beef. The vegetarian quiche (£3, without ‘salad’), was better, but not ideal, as it has been reheated in a microwave. They even charge for sauce in the small ramekins (25p), which I’ve never heard of in a cafe - yes, a chippy, but not a cafe...

Ok, then we will have two Cheese and Tomato Quiche and Salad with a Black Coffee and a Tea. Service was friendly and efficient. The Quiche looked very good but that was all, being tasteless and was served cold. The salad was miniscule (had they charged extra for the coleslaw ?). The pot of tea was only half full. Seating can only be described as cramped. Coffee was ok. Total bill of nearly £15 was not good value especially considering the quality of the food.

We have visited the cafe on a number of occasions, generally for tea or coffee, but today was only the second time we have had lunch there. As ever, it was a very enjoyable experience. The lunch menu is perhaps a bit limited, but everything is freshly cooked and delightfully tasty. A good policy adopted here is that the staff will tell you, if necessary, how long you may have to wait for food, which does away with any potential exasperation on the part of the customer and leads to a more relaxed atmosphere. The staff are efficient and helpful, working well within a fairly confined space. The cakes remain sadly irresistible! When we first came upon this cafe, we thought we had made a real find, and nothing has happened since to make us change our opinion.

After today's experience, it's update time. Always been very satisfied, but today - poor . What went wrong ?.Table uncleared from last customers, no problem (happens everywhere), but staff missed several opportunities to clear it, wandering aimlessly past us and seemingly without a care, and no sense of urgency. Ordered two lunches & drinks from the counter (£13.20 - OK). The assistant rang in the bill, I passed a £20 note but then she returned asking if I had anything smaller - took £20 back and handed her £15. Completely puzzled assistant then didn't know how much change was required; obvious isn't it.... £5 less than it would have been. With help from another assistant, they managed to work it out.The drinks came, set down among previously uncollected cutlery / crockery - YUK. "I'll get someone to clear the table" - Why don't you do it ? I thought....Girl came to clear the table - didn't know what was ours (despite it been untouched / unopened), but eventually worked it out. I couldn't avoid saying "this should have been done before the drinks were set down".... no response.Food :Tuna salad and Ploughmans lunch. Salad - half a can of tuna in a bowl of lettuce a couple of cherry tomatoes and a couple of slices of cucumber. Very poor.Ploughmans - Arrived without cheese, I pointed out - "I'll get you some" - arrived later, dumped on a side plate. Ham was pre-packed cheap processed stuff, edible, but not the quality I expected. COME ON - YOU CAN DO BETTER THAN THIS !!

Called here after a pleasant breezy walk along the seafront in need of coffee‘n’cake, as first time visit, the two young staff were a little shy in coming forward, how was I to know you had to order and pay at the counter before you were served? Anyway, that hurdle overcome, the piping hot lattes arrived with homemade cake which was tasty, but a little dry for our palates. Decor/ambiance was lovely, and my wife found the little boutique interesting, comfy chairs, and no urgency to move you on helped you enjoy the experience, the Bistrot branded coffee was lovely too, and I’d go back just for that!

Very friendly staff, creating a good atmosphere. Would highly recommend the scones, melt in the mouth. Returning to sample the cakes next time round.

This is one of the best cafes in the area - great coffee, friendly staff, comfy seating, lovely location, amazingly good scones and the corned beef pie is delicious. I have tried all the cafes nearby but this is the best.

. . . . Sin duda volveremos! ! ! !

I had a delicious white chocolate and cranberry scone today , compliments to the chef it was perfect. So many other establishments just don't realise scones must be eaten on the day they are made, at Black Truffle they are fresh every day.

We stopped while passing through the town wile visiting the area. Food is unique and delicious. Not your average pub grub. We had the mixed grill in their signature peanut and lime marinade. Absolutely delicious and tender. Never had anything quite like it!

Ordered caramel waffle latte and a Chelsea bun for myself, my friend ordered a vegan coffee and cake, by the time we’d picked up our cakes my friends’ vegan coffee was ready and a queue of people had formed so we took a seat and waited, and waited and waited. So having seen so many customers come in and get their drinks instantly I went back to ask for my caramel waffle latte, first of all I was told it had already gone out and the assistant was kind of trying to ignore me as she just continued with more orders, then she snapped ok I’ll make another but she continued with other orders and as the next person she called returned to the counter with a coffee she’d had some time and been drinking, the Starbucks assistant took her cup and tried to pass it to me saying it must be mine! I was horrified and said I don’t want someone else’s coffee, it’s already been partially consumed and handled by another customer so not hygienic but also we’re in the middle of a pandemic. She made me wait a while then passed a cup, looking nothing like the caramel waffle latte on the posters and not knowing if she’d topped up the other cup I retired to the table where my friend had finished her coffee & cake alone, so I ate my then sad dry bun and as I was leaving spoke to a supervisor about the lack of customer service, care and food hygiene safety. I asked for the branch number snd name as I wanted to put in an official complaint but was told the web address would find them, the assistant would be spoken to about making me wait and given a card for a free drink. I’ve mailed the complaints department but 10 days later not heard a thing - we won’t be visiting starbucks anytime soon, I don’t think it’s safe!!!
