A friendly local style pub with good food at very reasonable prices.

Very reasonably priced, hearty portions, good old fashioned pub grub but with lots of specials to choose from too. Mainly on one level so fairly accessible. Has outside seating by the river for when the weather is nice. Staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating. Definitely recommend.

Pleasant, friendly small pub. Serving well kept cask ales and pretty standard grub, with some interesting specials.

Not family friendly. They do not like families here. People with children are not made to feel welcome despite a children's food menu. Bar lady extremely rude and obnoxious no politeness about her - becky I think (the landlady's daughter!). Our dog was made to feel more welcome than us as a family. At 3.30pm in an empty pub it was myself and my husband who were told to be quiet because we were enjoying a family game of cards with our 2 children. Our children who I might add are very socially aware and integrated and will happily have a well mannered, polite conversation in any environment. They were not running around the pub being disruptive or causing chaos. They were sat at the table with their parents, a table we chose on the side of the pub with no one else around to enjoy a card game. Children should be seen and not heard is very antiquated. If you don't like children just don't allow them in instead of making families feel very unwelcome and humiliated just by having a good time together as a family. My children were very upset as were we. Don't expect to be spoken to like that by anyone especially when we are just a family having some family time together after an extremely long week. Absolutely so disappointed in the black swan. No one complained about us. No one came to the bar in the time we were sat there it was that empty. Also the previous review is very convenient, a timely family friendly review. The food is over priced and mediocre.

Wow what a great pub!!! Surprised at the previous review as I visited with my family including children and we were made to feel very welcome from the staff and the locals!! We love a local pub and to find one who treats you like one of their own is a gem!! Food was great and very well priced for the portion sizes!! Family and dog friendly we will definitely be back!!!

Avoid!!! Super rude bar staff member and chap at the bar. Glared at us for some reason from moment we walked in which is weird as we eat and drink there regularly. Then the lady behind the bar told us off for laughing and said to keep it down. Wouldnt mind but pub was empty and we werent drunk or being loud or obnoxious we were with our 2 children! Genuinely in shock. Go to The Boat instead if wanting a drink as its got a better inside and outside area or for food there are other options close by like Half Moon, Robin Hood or Ironbridge itself which also have better internal and external areas. Oh and also they dont serve spirit measures correctly, Baileys for example and really it makes you question where else they are conning customers. Not be returning, even if their prawn ciabattas were to die for.

Was there with a family and there were kids there getting drunk were obviously under age. They were even boasting that they were 16 and getting drunk. Shouting obscenity’s and laughing at other people.

Having been to the Black Swan before, I was surprised to find it rather cold in the bar area. A very modest fire was burning in a wood burner, interestingly made up by a customer who was wearing outdoor clothes and a woollen hat. I noted other seated customers similarly dressed, one of whom commented “it’s cold in here “, the reply from a member of staff behind the bar was “well I’m hot”. A bizarre response to a customer comment. Having driven 30 miles to eat here we ordered steak pie and a drink. The food arrived and was presented well by the waiting staff but we were so cold that we ate it rapidly and paid and left. A fundamental of the welcome expected is that the venue is warm enough to sit in comfortably, this was not and the response of the bar staff to the complaint was unacceptable. We will not visit again.

Stopped in this cozy pub on a walk down from Ironbridge. Enjoyed a lovely lunch including broccoli soup and their Cajun chicken salad. Service was prompt and courteous. Kid and dog friendly.

Great pub, very friendly staff Chicken jalfreizi (not sure how to spell it) has the right amount of spice and is delicious. The chips are everything you could need, crispy, not damp, and well cooked - perfect! It also comes with rice which is great. The "Ironbridge Melt" is a chicken breast with bacon and a healthy helping of melted cheese on top (tastes like extra mature). Comes with the same delicious chips, and is very filling. Would recommend highly.

Once again a fabulous meal at the Black Swan. Landlady went out of her way to make my 2 boys feel welcome and was happy for my under 2 to go off menu as a full meal would have been too big. Dog biscuits given to the pooch too. Meals were of generous size and a a good price, atmosphere was nice with locals all chatting and laughing. Couldn't complain even if I wanted too. Will most certainly be back.

Good parking and outdoor seating with a lovely view of the river. Comprehensive pub grub menu, and a big specials board. A busy bar , quite crowded with locals standing around. Dogs allowed in the main restaurant area, which I don't like. We ordered different starters and mains, all served quickly, very tasty and all enormous portions. Our server was friendly and professional, appropriate checkback. Busy the whole time we were there.

The black swan is set in a beautiful little village . We visited the pub on Saturday evening with our little dog and we were welcomed by the bar staff who were all very friendly. The food was lovely and our dog, along with all the other dogs there was made a fuss off so he was very content. Treats were given to him by the locals. The landlady was very professional and we will definitely be back. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Such a shame. Went for dinner. We have a little dog, local came in his dog was off the lead and attacked ours . Landlady took the locals side . Felt like we had to leave even though dinner was on the way. If you have a dog think twice.

Fantastic pub! Locals are a nice bunch to. Food is wholesome, won't break the bank, very enjoyable.

Always come here for a drink. Beer is always good and well kept. Nice out door seating by the river. Pub always has a good atmosphere.

A good friend took me here while on my trip to the UK. One heck of a view. I miss the cider, we don't have anything like it in the states.

Had fish and chips here and was really nice. Huge portion, and we were treated to nice weather so could eat outside with views of the river servern.

Whilst exploring the Ironbridge Gorge we stopped here for a lunchtime drink with our dog. Lovely traditional English countryside pub

Visited The Black Swan at short notice on a Sunday afternoon - we were lucky to get a table! Family of 5 with a dog. Pub had a lovely homely and welcoming feel. All the staff were accommodating and polite, food was very nice and reasonably priced. Will visit again.

I just wanted to let people know about my very unfortunate experience at The Black Swan Jackfield today. My daughter and my husband had been there for about two hours on Sunday afternoon. I wanted to go to the toilet before I left to walk home. Initially I tried to get into the toilet , but the entrance to the foyer was pushed back closed against me. Approx 10 mins later I had to be very assertive about my need to get to the toilet in an open public bar area. There was no management around to speak to. I have a urethral stricture and I have a card to confirm my medical condition which states "The holder of this card needs to use toilet facilities immediately". There was no one behind the bar as we left. Some other people in the pub were sympathetic to my situation, but there was absolutely no one to in charge speak to about it. The whole situation should never have been allowed to happen by Black Swan Management. Black Swan management need to be far more aware of the management of their limited (one toilet only) female facilities and if those toilet facilities were being blocked by some drunk customers. I am writing this to promote change at the Black Swan, so that no one else with a toileting medical condition has to suffer what I suffered this afternoon.

Tasty pub grub in a nice old fashioned pub, tables outside near the river. Quite busy at the time we visited, food cooked fresh to order. Note no Sunday roast dinner just the usual menu.

A lovely little pub placed on the river in Jackfield, just a 15 minute walk from the centre of Ironbridge. Tables overlooking the river on the green opposite are lovely in the sunshine. Friendly service, lovely food and reasonably priced.

Not biased... but it is my local 😀 Good beer, good food (great value); not restaurant food, but top end pub food, well cooked, good portions, good menu choice. Don't have the gammon... it's massive! Dog friendly with friendly dogs. Also kid friendly, but still get 5 stars.

The Black Swan is a beautiful and original pub on the banks of the Severn. It's a limited menu which means the quality is excellent as is the beer. I loved my visit with friends and will return. It is wheel chair accessible. It has a good pub garden and great, friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Great pub about a mile from the Ironbridge, worth the drive or walk to find this gem of a pub. Excellent seating across the street on solid benches with umbrellas if sunny, overlooking the Severn. Nice menu, quality food and excellent fresh beer.

Stopped for lunch sitting outside by the river. Easy parking. Shared a prawn panini with side order of chips delicious and a nice change to be offered prawns. Highly recommend.

Staff member did not take my order properly but it was soon rectified by another member of staff

3 of us arrived just just before kitchen opened and allowed to order food. 1 had Ironbridge Melt, 1 had Mushroom Jalfrezi and the other had chunky vegetable chilli all came up piping hot and very tasty meals. Service was with a smile and staff were all pleasant. Location was great on the riverbank and plenty of tables outside to choose from.

A great find for a lunch stop off. Probably the best vegan burger ever and great service. Gorgeous location too.

Nice little pub with seating next to the river

Great little pub , parking is difficult at lunch time as it is a popular pub . Atmosphere inside is very welcoming and very different fromanohymous chains, Menu is add to by a wide range of specials displayed on a board that even my 60+ eyes coped with . order at the bar and I took the time to investigate the beers on offer . Four draught ales are offered as well as the usual suspects from the large brewers. Wine is also offered at reasonable prices . in our experience the drinks are good value. Food takes a while to appear but it is cleary made to order and is clearly made to order - my Angus beef burger was excellent as was the Fudgge Sundae. One of my defining tests is the quality of the Espresso and this did not disappoint , clearly it was made from ground coffee. Staff are lovely and it is a relaxing experience dining here , the absence of muzak is extremely welcome. use we Sat Nav to find it and around 13:00 expect to have to park on a the ( very quiet) road.

Apart from a mix up over our booking it was a great experience. The mix up was soon sorted out. The food was fantastic. More than enough - in fact, we could not eat it all! The service was fine. Great location. Lots of choice on the menu and a specials board.

A beautiful pub/restaurant in a stunning location on the Ironbridge Gorge. We visited Ironbridge en-route to North Wales with our friends and took them for lunch at the Black Swan, having visited several times before, and it didn’t disappoint. The food was plentiful and delicious, I had the 16oz horseshoe gammon, and the service exceptional. We shall definitely be back soon!

We had lunch here on Thursday after a lovely walk and it was one of the best meals I have had out in a long time we both had the Ale pie my God it didn't disappoint it covered half the plate and it came with plenty of gravy. Will definitely be visiting again and would highly recommend it .

Pet friendly for locals want dog hair in ur food go on a Sunday and the black and white dogs walks round the kitchen the owner is two faced and just wants ur money it's that pet friendly u have to step over dogs to go to the toilet even tho they have been asked to move the dog the owner is full of herself and I'm waiting for my £85 refund and u have knob heads at the bar calling u blud saying I'm ripping her off and the food was paid for and left on the table untouched there is only 1 way in and 1 way out unless u join the black and white dog in the kitchen he might show u the back door

Small and cosy, but with the best food around Ironbridge with reasonable prices. A good selection of beers, including pale ales. If you are planning on going during busy periods, you are best to call to book your table beforehand. Offers outdoor seating with nice views over the river. Great on a sunny day.

First time we've been here and the food and atmosphere was excellent.

My wife and I visited for lunch; based on previous reviews and the pub’s proximity to Ironbridge, which we were visiting. Originally we intended to just have a sandwich or light bite but on reading the menu decided to have our main meal of the day instead. I ordered a rump steak with mushrooms, onion rings, chips and peas while my wife opted for scampi and chips in a basket. We were served with speed and good friendly service and the food was freshly prepared, tasty and plentiful. There were 4 decent real ales on offer and I opted for a pint of excellent Hobsons bitter; my wife had her usual large black coffee. Total bill came to £30 which we thought good value. This is a friendly, no-frills pub offering plenty of food and drinks choice at competitive prices. In the summertime (and now if you are brave enough) there are large outdoor seating / dining areas overlooking the river so I imagine it will be extremely busy when the weather brings out more tourists. I highly recommended the Black Swan and we will certainly return in the future.

A short walk to this lovely little village pub. Great food & service. Good value. Advisable to book at weekends as the locals use it which is a good sign!

Awful. Ignored at bar, rude staff! Dogs allowed free roam (including next to couples eating!) and just generally an uncomfortable atmosphere. Food also left a lot to be desired but not much of a shock as supposed ‘chef’ is apprentely a con artist and thief who has unpaid bills in other local premises.

We met the lovely couple Theresa and husband while on holiday in Gambia. We certainly agree Black Swan pub is one of the nicest pub in Jacksfield. We'll have to take a visit. Soon. From Carmel & Robert from Epsom.

We were part of a large group at lunchtime on a Saturday. The staff are friendly and helpful and our meals all came together which was a great achievement. All piping hot and nicely served. Good portions and a nice atmosphere. Would return

Party of 16 booked in ahead for lunch for the Shropshire Christian Walkers Group. Tables reserved and all sat with comfort. We preordered the food we wanted. no trouble at all when additional food orders were added to the party. All food turned up promptly beautifully presented excellent portion sizes. Highlights on our table were the cajun chicken salad obviously cooked fresh with a wonderful selection of spices. The angus burger cooked to perfection. juicy with lots of flavour. The cheese melt and lasagne portions very generous and fresh. The gammon chips and egg with peas also tender juicy and well presented. Service was excellent prompt and with a smile. The lady calling out the orders fantastic sense of humour and very cheerful. Definitely worth it pop in and enjoy a good selection of ales as well... their specials board is well populated so you will always have plenty of choice. they have a separate gluten free menu so you can choose well here.

Stopped over for a night in Ironbridge on the way back from North Wales and was recommended the Black Swan as somewhere to eat that evening. Wow, it didn’t disappoint… friendly landlady who managed to find us a table even though we had no booking and it was busy, atmosphere great, staff helpful, food was superb - fab place to visit. Thank you.

Fabulous meal as always. Landlady is lovely, loves George Michael too-we were both going to marry him, and Wham finally made the Christmas no1! Such a wonderful dog friendly pub, staff very friendly, Ironbridge melt is to die for! Would recommend it to anyone. Thankyou for being amazing as always.

Visited while staying locally after walking our dog on a cold bright day this week. Staff were great and very accommodating with our large nervous dog. We enjoyed the meals on both occasions that we visited - lovely food and great value. In warmer weather the garden overlooking the river must be beautiful but we enjoyed the warmth of the log burner instead. Highly recommended.

Had dinner on Saturday night with my wife and an Australian friend who wanted to see a real English pub. The bar was very busy and full of locals enjoying an evening drink. Real ales on draught plus kegs and cider. Really enjoyed the evening. Wide choice for the menu plus a specials board, great value food. I had the faggots and peas, my wife had the fish and chips and said it was excellent. Both were well cooked and the fish in particular was too much food for her to finish. The Baileys cheesecake was amazing. The staff were great, really friendly, and they worked very hard as the bar was very busy. All in a great evening.

Back at the Black Swan with friends to eat after a bit of a gap. Beautiful food and excellent service. We always rated the food but think that surprisingly the standard has increased even more. I had the pie, which I always love but my friend had the paella which they raved about. A useful reminder to check the specials board!!! Loved it. If you haven't tried the Black Swan yet - give it a go.
