I am paula. I have been using this chip shop for many years as do my family from Beck Row. I even used to travel 12 miles, now I live here. Result!!

Love this place. Great food, fish is always cooked to order.

Excellent food. Some of the best fish & chips I've had. Nice and crispy fish breading cooked to perfection. Prices are decent too. You can a full fillet of fish for about 8 pounds. Or, if you want, you can get the smaller portion for even less just right for 1 person. Super nice staff too! They were very friendly to me and my son.

First of all portion of food is extremely big and expensive, I ordered one fish and chips meal and one chicken burger with chips; they charged me £18.70. I mean it’s ridiculous portions are too big for a normal person to eat lead it to wastage of food, moreover there were no ketchup and mayo given with a portion when I went to take some ketchup and mayo inside, they looked at me like I was begging for that, they gave one small sachet of ketchup and one of mayo for two people!! Burger was dry, fish was too oily as it was made in a hurry!! I am sorry but it was a horrible experience.

When you get home with what should be sausage and chips, but no sausage 😕

Food was fine, portion of fries was a bit small. But otherwise all good.

Fish and chips for ten pounds. A cardboard box of one out of ten. Fish had turn into rubber. Chips sweaty. In these times we need a good provider of food. Its seem like they had giving up living 😕.

First time we have had fish and chips from The Black Pearl. The food was excellent 10 out of 10. Staff looked very smart and clean. It would be great if gluten free was on the menu. Price excellent too. Will be back.

Went in at a non peak time, so had to wait a short time for my food to be cooked, but then freshly cooked is best, generous portions, lovely food good polite welcoming service, good value for money, and well worth the wait

To all my fellow US military friends and family - don’t judge this place because of its proximity to the base. It’s genuinely some of the best fish and chips I’ve ever had.

The lovely staff is always friendly and the fish and chips are delicious.

We order from The Black Pearl regularly and have never had to fault the food or service we receive. Food is always fresh, portion sizes are more than enough, as we usually share a large cod between 2, usually delivered earlier than expected and those who deliver our order are very polite.

Great Cod. I really like the chicken done as well. Generous portions of chips. Everything was freshly cooked and hot AF. 🥵

Perfect Kebab, really friendly staff, chips were amazing and quick service. Parking is a bit uncertain and never know if using the car park is ok, but there is normally somewhere near.

Popped in here today for the first time and wow, chips were absolutely banging. I will be coming back!

Food was very greasy chips were awful looked re fried burger was dripping in that much grease the bun was soggy all went in the bin I find it's hit and miss this place sometimes its really nice sometimes its bad.

i popped into here after work today 04/03/21 two very friendly ladies. The place is clean great decor and the food well it was amazing fish was so nice not greasy and full of flavor the chips fresh and cooked to perfection will defo be back for more

Lovely food and excellent service

Owners some of the kindest people I've ever met, let me and my friend refuge there when we got stuck cycling in the snow. We bought some chips which were lovely and not too oily at all either. Great menu, good food and nice people, perfect local chip shop. 10/10.

I frequently travel from Sutton to Mansfield just to purchase the best kebab in the world ! carol is always amazing with her customer service and is very kind to me when i visit. I would advise anybody to give this chippy a go !

THE FOOD:So for starters out of all the chips I’ve had in many fish and chip establishment this place has got to be the winner. The chips are not too greasy, too dry, too powdery or two wax like they are just right and the portions are very generous.I’m a sucker for their chicken wraps all cooked fresh to order. THE SERVICE:The gentleman that run this place are the utmost gentleman. I get the impression they are genuinely nice guys. Never rude or abrupt, always smiling and the guy (with less hair on top - sorry!!) is the kind of guy you’d expect to find as front of house staff at a 5 star restaurant or hotel.All in all a joy to order from The Black Pearl - ARRRRRRR me hearties...Nathan

I have been staying with my family on a nearby campsite and decided to get fish and chips for our last night, I order via the just eat app, delivery was way before the given time and the guy came straight to the tent.The portions were huge, I ordered medium cod and chips and was not expecting the amount that we got, each piece of fish was of the size that would make a Japanese whaler proud, it was cooked perfectly and the batter was crisp and dry, cannot recommend highly enough.

We moved into Beck Row six months ago and are lucky enough to live within walking distance of this great takeaway. Whether it is fish and chips or one of their excellent Kebab range, you are assured of delicious food served by very friendly and courteous staff, and the portions are very generous!

I cannot recommend the Black Pearl Fish and Grill Bar highly enough. In fact, it has become a very regular lunch or evening meal choice!The food is excellent with very large portions, cooked fresh to order and the quality of meat and fish is of very high quality. The kebabs are amazing with large pieces of meat, lovely salads, dressings and chips. The onion rings are a must too!The children’s fish and chips portion is ample for an adult too and I cannot fault any of the food we have purchased here. They also offer a delivery service but as my son lives so close, I can easily walk there!The two gentlemen who work in there are so hospitable and always have time to chat whilst serving you, or cooking your order. The kitchen area is extremely clean and I would have no hesitation recommending this establishment.

A short walk from RAF Mildenhall, The Black Pearl was "the place to go for fish and chips" according to our local co-workers. Another great appeal to this establishment: accepts cards, US dollars, and Pounds. You order food inside and take your food home or eat outside on the picnic benches. Not sure what the portion size are compared to the US, I ordered a medium sized fish and chips, and am glad I did. I could hardly finish the fish (slightly larger than my hand). Besides the fish and chips, The Black Pearl also offers: burgers, chicken, pukka pies, and two desserts. Overall a good experience and went back on my last night before returning home.
